I just think it's bad, you know, you don't play with the game, you don't play with the basketball guys on the board that run it from anybody. Obviously, yeah, they're in their situations, you know, in my career where we've sat tense, and you know, I mean, this would have been an idea, we're sure. But you have to go out there and continue to put your best foot forward, and that's why I believe everybody is lucky. That's the same mindset. We don't try to go out there, and I never believed in that. That was down to the Mitchell last night. I just don't buy it. Just don't buy it. Albrecht joining us at 520, and you can't use the basketball gods as a reason for why you do or don't do something. No, and I get it from, I get it from Donovan's perspective. I do. Like, Donovan doesn't have to agree with what we're saying here, because I want Donovan to want to go out there and win every game and play art every night. Like, Donovan's saying the right thing publicly, but privately, he's wrong. Well, and I've never looked at Donovan as the great judgment for what to do with the end of regular seasons anyway, considering for years, and this goes back to his Utah days. The four games he looked at as like a, I need to score 40 points in as much as I possibly
can as a warm up for the postseason. And then he's always wondered why he never has made it out of the second round of the postseason. It's like, gee, I wonder, because you're taking game 80, like it's the NBA finals, maybe in like a two month circus, that is the NBA finals in a long stretch. Maybe you should treat game 80 like it's game 80. I don't blame him for saying this at all. I just think that like, he's wrong. And if you could be the foreseed and you can avoid Boston, and this isn't even necessarily about Boston, I would be saying this if there was any team, the ilk of Boston, you just avoid your hardest matchups as long as you possibly can. I don't think that's necessarily like a hot take. It just seems smart. Make life easier on yourself. It should be the resounding thing you have in life always is make life easier on yourself. You shouldn't take the harder path. Like even if you were playing one on one basketball in like a tournament setting, you would want to pick on the kids that you knew were bad first.
Yes. And you would beat up on those kids that were bad first. Yes. You wouldn't be like, oh, there's Lebron in the corner. Let's see if I have a chance against them. Like no, you'd be like, no, I'll take the small scrawny kid in the corner that looks like he's never played basketball before. If I could choose that as my route, and that's what I think, essentially, the Trumps are. I think that's really what the pistons are. I don't know. I don't know. What's he getting a little worried about the 76ers just climbing up into this whole entire thing? And I know it's that we'll talk about the five seed and what exactly needs to happen and won't happen. There's a seven seed right now that the 76ers are a lot of talent on that team. It's not a good basketball team. Yeah. I'm not. I'm not. There's still Maxi and Mbid and all these other guys and I'm a little I don't want that to be the reality. Really, really right now, JP, I think it's the Cavs in Boston. That's the class of the Eastern Conference for sure. Boston's not even and the Cavs have the better roster. Boston only gets that respect because they've done it with Brown and Tatum. They've won a championship together, but I think the Cavs are deeper and I don't think it's an accident that then Tatum goes for 30 on the night that Brown is not on the court.
You know, like I feel like there's a lot of there's a lot of play. There's dynamics and maybe that's why I'm rooting for it to set up the way that I wanted to set up where I want to take on Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals because I think you can get past Boston, but also if you don't, then at least you made it to the Eastern Conference Finals and then you can look at this and say, okay, we're growing in the right direction. Now we just need to add the brawn. We just add another piece and let's get out. Right. It's crazy that people disagree with wanting to see the team take a step forward, like say they get Boston in the second round. Let's play this out and say you get beat against Boston in round two. You're not going to get that same grace. You're just not. People are going to look at it and say, you're lost in the second round again and that's all you've been since the Donovan Mitchell trade and I thought you traded Harden for Garland and got 30 year, you know, 37 year old player. You got 10 years older to get out of the second round this year. Like you're not going to get any grace if you can't get out of the second round. It doesn't matter who the matchup is.
It's a result space business. It's to the conference finals. Yeah. It's a results space business. That's ultimately all we care about. All right. We got Albert Brear coming your way at 520 that lead coming up in about 15 minutes or so at the top of the hour, top of the next hour, all right, Nick. So I don't even know how to do this because I, it's like I want to give you a life advice but I don't. You're telling me that you are, are you on the fence about having kids? I don't know how to set this up properly. No. So I was at a baby shower this past week, which I didn't know that that was something that men attended. They don't until it was. I don't know why you were there. It was the, it was the 11 o'clock hour, unless it's your kid, unless your kid is born. No, it's not. No, it's not. Then you, and maybe I guess if you're like the dad of the daughter, maybe then you'd be there as well. That's not it either. So it's the 11 o'clock hour on the Sunday show and I get a text from my fiance that's saying you got to come up, it's, it's her little sister's baby shower. You got to come up. Whole families here. I look at Darryl. I'm like, you're never going to believe the text that I just got.
I got to go to this baby shower. And put the reality in check for me that I'm a very selfish person. And that I don't think it, and if that was my own baby shower, I'd be freaked out right now. But I'm at the age where a lot of the multiple people in my fantasy football league that I've grown up with these individuals, I've known these individuals before any of us couldn't drive. And they're having children and I'm getting married in June, JP. I don't know if there's a conversation that I'm ready for. I'm selfish. I'm greedy. I live, I very much beat to my own drum and you can't live that sort of lifestyle when you've got someone else. And I've got a dog and a lot of people said that like dogs, like when I got the dog, a lot of people. Not the same thing. Because I like almost couldn't, like we, like the dog was tough. And so listen, there, I, so come in, I was somebody that I got, I had a dog for like a year or so. I ended up giving the dog to my mom when I lived in Houston by myself.
I gave the dog to my mom because I wasn't, I was not a very good dog owner mainly because I just have a time for the dog, okay? There's a difference. Don't you, I hear your dog experience beat you up for later on in life because I'm a very involved parent and it's, there's a difference attached to that all there. So don't let the dog thing beat you up. I promise you, do not let that beat you up. I'm also beat up by the fact I've got a lot of little cousins. So I was the youngest in the family, all of my cousins have children, okay? So now they're annoying, snot nose kids that run around and scream at every family function that we attend. Yeah. And Cam's family is very similar and she's got a bunch of little cousins who like to get into things and they make big messes and they're very loud and they trip the wrong way and they scream at the absolute top of their lungs. Yeah. And that makes my blood boil, John. Okay. I'm going to be honest. Like if we were doing like a questionnaire and it's like does he check the boxes off for someone that probably shouldn't have kids, you're checking off a lot of the boxes, but like I don't want to steer you towards that because I think it's the greatest, it's
the greatest thing that's ever happened to me in my life is having my kids. And so about like there is, and this is the part I, I over share constantly with people I do and I've told a couple of friends of mine that are very, very similar situations to yourself. It's like, yeah, you enjoy those Sundays where you just do nothing. Are you at the Sunday show with Darryl? But you know, like before that, like you had Sundays, you just did nothing. Right. That's like my Saturday. You just sit down and watch sports for 12 hours and then basically the end of it just accomplished nothing. Yeah. Did absolutely nothing. Yes. Don't feel tremendous about it. No. But those don't exist anymore. That's like, that's the point. Like that, those type of days where you're like, you know what I'm going to do? Nothing today. That just doesn't exist for you anymore. When you're sick, when you're healthy, anything in between, like does not matter. You have someone you have to care for, you have someone you have to take care of. Right. Constantly be accounting for. And that is very hard. If you describe yourself as a selfish person, the way that you have, that's going to be really hard for you. So they're not. I'm not going to lie to you. That's going to be really hard for you. There's another layer of it as well that's just like, I like to have the ability to do.
So lay out that Sunday scenario where I, you know, get off the Sunday show with Darryl, go home, see what comes. Okay. You feel like my kid is three years old and then six months old. And so like my Sundays are spent going to different birthday parties. We go to the park, we go to, we do, we do everything that isn't what you're describing in your current life. Sometimes like me and Cam, like I will write when I get off the show, I like pull into the driveway. She hops in my car. We go get food. Then afterwards I'll sit at home for an hour and then I'll go to the gym and like it, like, and it's like none of this is planned. It just, okay, it's what I feel like doing. I just go with the flow of the day. Keith calls me today and he's, or you know, earlier in the week and he's like, Nick is going to be out. Would you want to host two to seven? Yeah. Absolutely. Like that's something that I want to do. Like I feel like I might not be able to pick up all of these fun things that I like to do. Yeah, you won't. I mean, maybe the job stuff, because you can always like, you can always justify it, because it's like it's work. I got to, I got to do it for work, obviously, but like the other parts of your life. I mean, kiss a goodbye. I mean, that's, it's the greatest thing never happened to me and I, I love every minute
of it. But like that part of your life is just gone. You're scaring me, JP. I know, I don't want to do this to you, but I like, you are checking off the right boxes of someone that I'd be like, I don't, but I would also tell you to do it, because it's again, one of the greatest things you can ever do in life. Like you don't look at it the same way that you're viewing it right now of like, oh, I didn't get to go to the gym. You look at it like, I get to help shape this little human and then make her into the person that's going to be a contributing member of society and actually help out people in life and maybe make her a better version of anything I could ever possibly have dreamed to be. Like there's something really awesome within that. And so I hope you would get there, but I can't, I can't lie to you and tell you that you will, because I don't know that. Matt's giving us the wrap-up sign and I'm good with it. Now I'm worried about you. My microphone's off. Now I'm worried about you. I, I think you have the, I think you have the ability to be a great dad. Don't let it get in the way, but you can't be a self-assuming and be a parent. That's just not how that works. All right, the lead coming your way next, Albert Brewer at 520, I'm sorry guys, I'm sorry.
