Don Veinot: The Fad-Driven Life

Mary welcomes back Don Veinot to discuss the faddish tendency for church-goers to dumb down the faith, bringing every wind of doctrine to blow through and take as many biblically illiterate church-goers with them as possible. Why? For profit, mostly. It’s all about an audience, as so much of evangelicalism is today.  And because reducing the faith to silly symbolism, promises of secret knowledge or experiences, or even date-setting appeals to the marginal and those who feel marginalized or in need of attention in their corner of the faith. We will take a look at 40 years of fads, what it tells us about our expectations of Christianity, and how to get off the merry-go-round of Christian nonsense and get real about faith at any cost.  There have been more fads in the church in the last several decades than you might think.
