We're off to the races The Miami dolphins fall To the Las Vegas Raiders 27 to 13 And It wasn't pretty I don't know that anybody I don't know that anybody Expected it to be terribly pretty And I guess the best thing that we can do Is hope that what happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas Ooh, I like that I'm glad that you like that Because you know there wasn't much to like on Sunday We're gonna get into it. We're gonna get into the things That we did like on Listen, I'm gonna say this. Okay. We'll just get it out of the way

2:00The beginning right we're gonna talk big picture here We're gonna have fun Because that's what we do on this show We're not gonna take it too seriously Because listen, I think anybody Who was objectively looking at this dolphins roster new Coming into the season There's there's this is gonna be bad It's gonna be bad. It's not gonna be pretty And it's it's at times gonna be difficult to watch And So I think you can look at it off the top and say If you were if you knew what to expect You're not gonna be disappointed And I think that was the way that I came into this game was that I expected them to Probably look pretty bad They did look pretty bad and they lost the game Did I predict them to lose 34 to 31? I did So I expected the defense to do what it did I The offense would be a bit better A bit more cohesive than it was

3:00I was I think we can get into Bobby Slowak And the pretty vanilla game plan that he ran on Sunday We can have conversation about that But for the most part I think unless you were one of those people that put your fingers in your ears and said Na na na na na na na na na na na I'm not listening. I'm not listening. This is a good team They're gonna win eight games. They're gonna win nine games Unless you were one of those people that refused to see the objective reality of this situation You kind of knew what to expect going in And yes, this was one of the more quote-unquote winable games on the schedule But it's still an NFL football game. It's still an NFL football game on the road And you know Just because you wish to team is gonna come out and play good football Does not mean that they're going to come out and play good football Does not mean that they are going to be better than they actually are So that's kind of my overall feelings about it going in

4:00I don't know. Do you have different thoughts on that, Brian? I think the key thing and look when we had our prediction show And I picked this team to go two and 15 Part of it was because I looked at some of the winable games on the game The quote-unquote winable games on the schedule I think it's nobody really knows, you know And every game is technically winnable in the NFL any given Sunday Right? But the matchups that you would say This is a good chance that the dolphins could get a win here And everybody looked at this Raiders game And I looked at it and I said I get it. I get why you'd pick the dolphins to win that game And why you'd say this is their quote-unquote most winnable game But with as much youth, as much an experience As much new as they have there I just knew that this is going to be the baseline

5:02The weak one is the baseline for every team in the NFL And if you're a really good team And you don't get snake bitten by injuries and other circumstances Generally, the goal of every team Every year is to get better every week as the season goes on And the dolphins are no different than that The difference is that the dolphins are a team that has $180 million in deadcap, over 60% of their salary cap They claim seven guys off of waivers They're playing 13 rookies on their roster And that means that their baseline is going to be significantly lower than the vast majority of the league And so I think that's where you have to look at it And that's why my expectation

6:02Like I will continue to go back to 2019 In comparing because I think that's the only comparable situation to what this team is going to be Which is it's a tank season Whether you want to call it a rebuild, an ethical tank Whatever you want to call it They're not trying to win Like they literally, the coach in the GM literally told you That they don't care about wins and losses this season The second they said that, you should have, alarm bells should have gone off in your head and said Oh, these guys are going to be really bad They have zero expectations They want to set the expectations so low that they don't want to tell you what their expectations are Because if they came out and they told you, we'll be happy to win two games They would get murdered for it So they said wins and losses don't matter Which is essentially saying we're tanking

7:03And so this is the baseline Go back and look at the beginning of 2019 and how awful they were They played a tougher schedule at the beginning of 2019 So the scores looked really bad And they were actually competitive in this game Like they didn't look good You take the opponent You know into consideration The Raiders not expected to be a very good football team And you take that into consideration This was a 17 to 13 football game in the third quarter So I mean they were competitive in this football game There's going to be a lot of weeks where you're going to wish that the dolphins were down by four points in the third quarter So this is the baseline It is what it is The goal of this season and how everything will be judged Come January, February, you know when we're in retrospect on the 2026 season

8:05The 2627 season We're going to look back and we're not going to care how this season started We're going to care how did they progress? Did they get better? What players got better? What players can we definitively say This guy is a key part, a key piece to the future What coaches on the coaching staff are we going to look at and say You know it was really ugly there at the beginning But he really got these guys together And there was marked improvement Where are we going to see that? And where are we going to say You know this started out bad And it didn't get any better That's why you watch in the games this season We're not watching the games to see the dolphins make a playoff run Because it's not going to happen We're watching it to see what happens Well we are always watching to see what happens But I appreciate the sentiment of what you're saying

9:07Yes, you're absolutely right You're absolutely right And the fact of the matter was the dolphins were never out of this game Until the end, you know until the end when they turned it over there at the end And then it was you know it was at a reach and the game was over But like the dolphins were right there the whole time with the opportunity The problem is that they were terrible in the entire second half So that's what we're going to get into We're going to talk about the pluses and minuses on both sides of the ball Throughout the game where were thing where were the dolphins great Where were they well I don't know that they were great anywhere But where were they good where were they bad We're going to talk about that But before we do that I want to tell you all that A new football season brings some big questions Who makes the playoffs? Who wins their division? Who takes home the title? 11:09When we talk about the offensive side in the ball I think we'll start with Malik Willis Because somebody was somebody was asking me like Is Malik Willis, you know, did he show you enough in this game that he's the guy I'm like first of all nobody on this team is gonna show me enough one way or the other in one week To make a decision Nobody nobody was Jonas a via Nia terrible in this game Yes, he absolutely was was Austin Jackson absolutely terrible in this game Yes, he absolutely was was Aaron Brewer underwhelming in this game Yes, he absolutely was at points at other points he was fine But the fact in the matter is you're not gonna draw conclusions based on one game Kaden Proctor had a great game with the one offensive lineman in this game for the Miami dolphins That actually had a good game Kaden Proctor but you're not gonna you're not gonna take that and say yes lock it in he's your guy

12:09He's gonna have to show me that repeatedly throughout the season For those other guys some of those other guys Austin Jackson Jonas a via Nia They've got larger bodies of work and they've got you know they've got reputations already And you know so additional data points can support the existing reputations But Malik Willis You know in this game if he plays like this game like this 16 more times this season and the dolphins end up with a high draft pick They're taking a quarterback I can tell you that much right now because he did not look over the course of the entire game Like the guy that you wanted him to be there were moments where he absolutely did some beautiful touch passes Particularly in the first half in this game some of those like that one beautiful touch pass to H&D on the sideline In the first I mean just he showed you what he could do he showed you what he could do with that big athletic run But then in the second half He started pressing as the things were not working out as the offensive line was collapsing around him He started to press and you could see him trying I mean he is one of those guys who is

13:11Whereas to a tongue of I lower always struggle to make things happen off script We saw from Malik Willis in this game that he Is much more comfortable making things happen off script the problem with making things happen off script is that Your offensive line is working on a script and they don't know what you're gonna do and so as a result end up running yourself into several sacks in this game And that's what he did so I thought it was kind of a mixed bag from Malik Willis in this game I thought he was You know there were moments where he looked great and you you absolutely saw what you why the dolphins paid him what they paid him And then there were moments in the second half where you remember that this is not a guy with a ton of experience really at the NFL level And you got to see some of that shine through as well it is what it is elsewhere on the offense we kind of talked about the offensive line We can get into it in a little bit if you want brain but you know other things that we saw on offense Devon HN is still divine HN but if you don't give him the room to run you know there's only so much that you're gonna do and if you get if you have a play collar that decides to only let him touch the ball what three times in the second half

14:23That's gonna be a problem too you got to do better than that elsewhere on offense Caleb Dalgless popped he showed you some of the things that we saw in the preseason we saw it again He was the receiver that was able to consistently get open we saw him make a mistake in terms of this footwork on the sidelines but again he showed you a regular season data point that you can add to the preseason data points where this guy may very well be a dude and that was really great And then it was nice to see Chris Bell out there as well he didn't do a lot he wasn't heavily involved but he was certainly out there a little bit so I don't know it was a kind of a mixed bag from the offense there were certainly things that were good but there was a lot that was bad and brain I mean among among all of those things the one that stands out as being the worst was that offensive line in this game Yeah I think look we talked about it going into this game and we talked about what is the pathway to the offense being good what are the keys is it Malik Willis is at the offensive line and it's kind of both because the even if the offensive line is good there are only going to be as good as Malik Willis is at quarterback and Malik Willis can be as good as you want him to be at quarterback

15:47And at the end of the day if the offensive line is not playing at a high level the entire offense will fall apart and you could look if you look at it and you say one offensive lineman and maybe Patrick Paul maybe you say two offensive lineman two of the five offensive lineman on the dolphins had a good game if that happens the offensive line did not have a good day the offensive line you're going to have parts that play at whatever level that they play at but ultimately the offensive line functions as a unit and for this dolphins offense to be successful the offensive line is going to need to play at a high level as a unit and it goes back to the other thing that we said which is the recipe for this offense being good and for the dolphins winning football games this year however many football games they are they're going to win the games when they have the ability to run the ball close to 40 times a game in this game they had 12 designed runs to 32 dropbacks which is 27 actually technically it was more than that I don't know how many of Malik Willis's rushes were designed rushes versus scramble I didn't do the math on that but it was probably like four

17:13or five of them so it was really more like 36 dropbacks and maybe like 14 design runs which is an extremely low percentage and game script definitely plays into that and so it's important for this team to start fast and not play from behind but remember again this was a game that they were down 17 to 13 in the third quarter and even though the Raiders came down and scored a touchdown on the very next drive this was a two score game the rest of the way which means you did not have to give up on the run at the point so I think there is credence to the the criticism of Bobby Slowick I don't want to go overboard with it and say like Bobby Slowick needs to be fired because you know he you know he the game script got away from him or whatever and he didn't necessarily call a good game and he gave up on the run but I think it's fair to say they gave up on the run a little earlier than they had to

18:23and that put the game in Malik Willis's hands as a thrower but more importantly it put the game on your tackles and your offensive line as a whole in past protection which is not the strength particularly of your run of your right tackle in Austin Jackson who got completely owned by Max Crosby once they moved Max Crosby onto that right side and they said you're going to go up against Austin Jackson Max Crosby had Austin Jackson for lunch and that shouldn't surprise anybody but how do you stop that you got to have balance this team needs to be able to run the football they didn't run the football effectively enough when they had opportunities earlier in the game and that contributed to Bobby Slowick ultimately giving up on the ground game which is compounded things but ultimately this team is going to need to run the ball better they're going to need better play from the entire offensive line and ultimately they're going to need better play from the defense too because you're going to need to not be in a situation where you're down by two scores consistently in the second half

19:40is that necessarily going to happen I don't know I think it's tough when this is your roster and you're going to go up against the teams that you're going to play and so that all contributes to why this probably isn't going to go very well this year but you have to understand that and you got to understand what you're watching and then you know the fact is even knowing what you're watching you still most of the time you don't really know what you're watching until you go back to the game because I think a lot of people watch this game and on the offensive side of the ball and said the offensive line as a whole was terrible nobody was good and then you go back and you watch the film and you're like well Kaden Proctor actually was very good and Patrick Paul was OK and Aaron Brewer aside from you know a couple of penalties where you can sort of make you know whether you want to call him excuses or you can do it and you're going to say, hey, come on, I'm going to talk to you. I'm going to talk to you about what you want to do and what you want to do is make you know whether you want to call him excuses or reasons you can sort of understand why those things happened why he gets caught holding when Malik Willis is scrambling in the opposite direction of where you are designing the play to and then he ends up holding on to a guy's you know a defensive lineman's chess plate.

20:59Especially for an undersized center who you know makes his money with leverage not with power he's not like an all over an opposing defensive tackle so these things are going to happen there's a lot of context to it but the bottom line is. This team for them to win football games this year they're going to need all of their players to really play well because they don't have enough difference makers to where everybody can just show up and play like average and then have one or two different makers make up the difference for them. Devon HN is the only difference maker on this offense Malik Willis has an athletic and athletic profile and has like and has some arm talent but you can see it he's holding on to the ball too long he's not necessarily quick with his decision making he's not necessarily decisive and he's not necessarily the most accurate passer consistently so you can see both the positive and the negative with Malik Willis you can see the work in progress that the.

22:07The offense of line is you got to find a way to get the ball in your best players hands which is Devon HN more than they did that's the bottom line. Let's turn the page and look at the defense because I think as much as the offense of line and members of the offense struggled in this game the defense was in many ways every bit is bad as we expected them to be the dolphins I saw a stat I believe it was from pf f let me see if I could pull it up here very quickly. And this came this was in our discord here we go here it is and this was put in our discord by Patrick Mullin who said the dolphins blitzed at the eighth highest rate in the NFL this week yet the defensive line generated adjust seven total pressures and two quarterback hits analysts from sports illustrated noted that the raider that raiders tackles Colton Miller and DJ clays essentially pitch shutouts against Miami's edge rutscher rushers.

23:18Including chop Robinson Miami with the heavy big body rotation on the interior by giving Zack sealer Jordan Phillips and Zeke Biggers over 40 snaps each despite the size sealer graded 85 that a 93 qualified interior defenders for the week and the group failed to control the line of scrimmage they were completely dominated in this game by the raiders and they were pushed around by the raiders offensive line and granted the raiders have one of the best centers in the in the game in Tyler Lindarbaum. And you know they they've upgraded their offensive line quite a bit but boy they made the dolphins look bad I mean ashton jency for all of his credit you know he looked like Larry Zonka out there against these dolphins had a great game just basically pushing them around and you know basically had whatever he wanted and because the dolphins couldn't stop the run they were also victims of the Kirk cousins doing basically whatever he wanted in terms of distributing the ball they couldn't get any pressure to him so he was kind of dinking and dunking all day and it was it really what this looked like was death by a thousand paper cuts except the dolphins were on blood thinners so every one of those paper cuts was like turning into a gusher it was it was horrible it was it was a really bad look for this dolphins defense you know there's a lot of talk that they didn't really get beat over the top a whole lot I think

24:47there were at least two opportunities that I can recall off the top of my head where Kirk cousins just overthrew a wide open man who had beaten the defense and cousins just overthrew his target. But you know it was we got a lot of slack a lot of people have been kind of crappin on Chris Johnson for his display on the defense in this game and we've since gotten some word from Jeff Haffley that particularly on the touch downs that were given up there was they were playing in a zone package in the help was not where it needed to be and as a result you know it looked like Chris Johnson was getting beat but he was relying on the help that was not there so in a way you know throwing the safeties under the bus all in all it was on both sides of the ball it was to use a mic Macdenio buzzword if I may there was a lack of complimentary football from your Miami dolphins on Sun. They brain what were your thoughts on this defense. Yeah, look, action genty is great, but any running back in the NFL if they don't have to make a move or avoid contact until like four yards like they're going to have a great day.

26:08And that was the large majority of the carries whether it was action genty or Mike Washington because the dolphins defense was getting blown off the ball. They were getting absolutely bullied up front. That was the most concerning part I would say the offensive line and the defensive line were the two most concerning points in this game because you knew going in. What the dolphins had on the outside on offense was a bunch of rookies not a lot of experience and then on the defense side of the ball you knew in the secondary it was going to be troublesome. You knew even even with chop Robinson even if you believe that chop Robinson was going to have this breakout and look it's been one week but he obviously was a no show in week one and that's a big you know that's a big talking point as well. But overall the biggest thing that you said that that we knew they had to to be good at was there had to be strong in the trenches and there was an emphasis on that there was an emphasis on this team needs to not be soft.

27:16They need to be physical. They need to be bigger and stronger. They need to not get pushed around. Well, one weekend. Guess what they looked like the same old dolphins. They looked like the Mike McDaniel often the Mike McDaniel dolphins in that they look like a team that was just getting bullied and the look I'm not going to sit here and tell you who the Raiders are going to be you know what their records going to be in January off of one game. But the Raiders are not expected to be a very good team and I would expect that we're going to see a lot better off much better offensive lines than we saw in this game. I would say next week when we go to San Francisco you're going to see a better offensive line than you saw this week against Vegas. So it's not getting any easier. These guys are going to need to make significant improvements. The problem is I don't know that there's enough talent there that they can make significant improvements because where are the reinforcements. I mean Kenneth Grant is a few weeks away and frankly he was getting beat by Jordan Phillips anyway.

28:25So like I don't know that that's going to make a difference. Joshua is terrible like as an like Joshua has never been an edge that can set an edge like never in his whole career to expect that that was going to suddenly happen because he's a starter with the dolphins because we don't have any better options. That was a pipe dream. So you're saying Josh, Josh, Josh, who was trying to set an edge but instead drew a circle. Yeah, or you know an arc. Fair enough. You go and I'm sorry to interrupt your rant. You were you were really on one there. Yeah, I mean, look, does it maybe get better when Train Morgans back is Train Morgans upgrade over Willie Gay. I don't know. I mean, I like when you're going to base it off of you're going to base it off of like half a preseason game. I don't know what you're going to like. You got to be you just got to be objective at this point. You can't be like the one thing that you just have to do when you're watching these games is just be honest with what you were going to say drink.

29:35What you got to do that too. I mean, he holds up the class of wine. phenomenal. You got to do that too. But you got to be honest because like just eliminate any expectation of this team being good. And then just be honest about what you see out there for for good or for bad because at the end of the day. This is the baseline on which upon which we're going to build whatever this is going to look like under John Eric Sullivan and and half. Like what ever Asian can I make an observation. It's early. But through one game of the 2026 season. I would say on the whole. The draft picks that were brought in by John Eric Sullivan.

30:39Are outperforming the draft picks that are here and holdovers from the Chris Greer era. Would you agree or disagree? Not only would I agree. I would say it's not even particularly close. Absolutely. I mean, say for Devon H. Say say for Devon H. And absolutely. Devon H. And is what Devon H. And is. But again, I and as I said all through off season and towards the tail end of last year. Like I know Devon H. And is a really dynamic player and they've now paid him and they're extending him. I don't know if Devon H. And is still at the heart of this Miami Dolphins team. When they become whatever it is that they are building towards. I don't know if he's still going to be here as part of that. And that's fine. And we got plenty of time to figure that out. Absolutely. Absolutely. Because I don't think Devon H. And is necessarily going anywhere this year unless somebody like throws like an amazing offer at them prior to like the deadline or something like that.

31:43Can I make another observation? Yeah, make another one. Somewhere in the Miami in the Baptist health training complex there is a storage closet. And in that storage closet is a lot of leftover Harry Potter paraphernalia. I know this because Chop Robinson went into that closet. And before this game he put he found and put on Charles Harris's old cloak of invisibility from the Harry Potter closet at the Baptist health training complex. Because Chop Robinson nobody could see him throughout the entirety of this game. Wait a minute. So you're saying that Charles Harris originally had the cloak. Yes, Charles Harris had the cloak of invisibility. Because James Potter gave it down to Harry Potter who gave it down to Charles Harris.

32:46No, no, no, no, no. Charles Harris is just a huge Harry Potter fan. Okay. And so he went out and sought an invisibility cloak that he would wear during football games because you never saw him. Right? You never saw him wearing the invisibility cloak because he was always wearing it. And when they shipped him off to wherever they shipped him off to, the invisibility cloak got stuffed in the closet at Baptist health. And then Chop Robinson discovered it. He discovered it at the beginning of last season. He wore it quite often last season and he absolutely packed it and brought it to Vegas with him and wore it all day on Sunday. You know, this actually works really well because Charles Harris clearly wasn't wearing the cloak when he was in Detroit. Yes. Yes. Well, he went to Detroit and you know, you could see him again. Yeah. I, and I'll be honest, I, I hope that Chop Robinson takes that invisibility cloak with him to wherever

33:47his next stop is because I can tell you what, that is a man who is not getting extended by this team and he absolutely should not. Well, we got to get rid of the cloak. It seems like we got rid of the, you know, the infinity, you know, the, the, the, the stone, you know, the, the, the thing that makes you like the immortality stone because that, that seemed like you could never get rid of Chris Greer. We seem to have gotten rid of that. We got to get rid of the cloak. Um, and we need to find the elder one. Yeah, we need, we need to, we need to do a lot of things. But listen, we're still in the, like they have, they, these, a lot of these Miami dolphins rookies haven't even had an opportunity to get sorted yet into their houses. So we don't know who among these Miami dolphins is Slytherin's and Griffin doors and, Hufflepuffs, they look like a bunch of Hufflepuffs to me.

34:50Yeah, I'll tell you what, Austin Jackson is a Hufflepuff. I can tell you that right now. So I, I'll say, Kosa Nocher in the chat, some of you podcasters procrastinated over 10 sacks for chop Robinson. I wasn't me. Well, it wasn't me. Certainly, in the immortal words of Shaggy, it wasn't me. Well, hey, listen, don't, don't put that on me. Don't put, listen, a lot of people out there in the world, in the Miami dolphins fan universe, the, the expanded, the, the Miami dolphins cinematic universe. There were a lot of people since we're doing the movie metaphors. We'll just keep going with this. A lot of those people were trying to convince themselves and by doing that, convince you that this team was going to be better than it is. That, I will say this right now, nobody on this channel, nobody, even Big E, our buddy Big E,

35:52who is the beacon of positivity, even Big E. He said he thinks they might surprise some people. He didn't tell you how he thought they were going to surprise some people. Even Big E was realistic when we did our season preview show about what this team is going to look like, although maybe not quite as realistic as everybody, but listen, but you know, Big E is going to do Big E, right? So this is not a channel that is going to ever sell anybody false hope. I could tell you that right now. We're realistic. We got our feet on the ground and, you know, hey, it is what it is. So regardless, this is our first data point of the season. It is what it is. It wasn't pretty. You didn't expect it to be, but as you mentioned earlier, the key thing in this game is that a baseline was set. There are going to be times this season where this team is going to look worse than they did on Sunday.

36:53I'm touching my earpiece and I'm being told that the dolphins are playing at the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The 49ers who beat the Super Bowl favorites 27 to 7 in their first game of the season. So, so yeah, there are times where this is going to look significantly worse than it looked on Sunday. But there are going to be times where it looks better as well. And in fact, this is the baseline to kind of judge things by as they go forward. And as things continue to move forward the season, you go, where do you see the improvement? Is this offensive line improving? If we continue to see the same thing from Patrick Paul and Jonas of I and I and Austin Jackson, even when they're not going up against the Max Crosby's of the world, then there are going to be notes and there are going to be people that get cleaned out. We're going to see as the season goes on, if we don't start to see that secondary communicate better and be in the right place where they're supposed to be. And we don't see that defensive front start to stand up and make some stops and

37:57really get their act together, that's going to be a data point. And those are the data points if things don't improve significantly. Like if this, if we get to the end of the season and this game against Vegas was the best game of the season for the Miami Dolphins, that's where you go. Maybe we got that's an indictment of the coaching staff, but I'm not expecting that to happen. I am expecting that this team is going to it's going to be up and down. They're going to be times where they look a lot better. They're going to be times where they look a lot worse and it is what it is. Patrick says the O.L. was rated worse than the league this week. The only one including Brewer who was analyzed as okay was Proctor Paul Hadapurde, Jonah and AJ Disastrous quit the cope bad. I don't think that we were providing cope on the offensive line. But I think he was saying because I said Paul was okay. Brewer was okay outside of a couple of penalties or whatever.

38:59I mean, I'll give him credit. There were definitely times in this game where they were on their feet. So that's nice. And that's fine. In some ways it's subjective. I know he's going to cite PFF and I'm not going to sit here in debate. What ultimately could be the difference between two or three plays could be the difference between this guy getting graded terribly and this guy being graded is okay in that game. I think largely you have to look at PFF grades as a big sample size kind of tells the picture of who a player is. They have their value but when the sample size is small when you're looking at one game, realistically two or three plays could be the difference between a guy getting graded as okay and a guy getting graded as bad or a guy getting graded as great. It is what it is. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that the old line was good no matter how you slice it,

40:02the old line had a bad day. I also think that some of the sacks I think can be directly attributed to Malik Wallace. Or Malik Willis not getting rid of the ball or holding onto the ball too long or scrambling into pressure but 26 pressures is 26 pressures on however many dropbacks he had like it was a high percentage and they didn't all come from the right side of the line. A few of them came from the left side of the line. The offensive line as a whole was bad. It needs to get better. They need to run the ball better. They need to run the ball more. That needs to happen. That's the answer. I think one thing that we haven't, I mean, I do think we should talk about some positives because I talk about positive but real quick we got another super chat from Patrick. Look, I have zero faith and Bobby Slowick but this team has no talent. Two wins. I don't disagree with anything he said in that super chat.

41:05I think we should talk about some positives but I also think we should talk about like the special teams was really, really bad. I think this is an area where you brought in a veteran special teams coach and I'm expecting to see improvement. It's kind of hard not to improve. I mean, the kick coverage was horrific in this game. I think on returns, on offensive possessions, like after kick returns, the Raiders were starting at like the 40 yard line on average, which is just horrendous. But also, the dolphins claimed seven guys off of waivers. Special teams is largely made of guys that are on the bottom of your roster. So you're not only talking about guys that were large,

42:09that a large portion of these guys were actually cut from other teams and wouldn't be good enough to make other teams but they've also been on the dolphins for about a week and a half. And so I think you got to give them some time and you got to see how things progress there. You do have a veteran proven special teams coach. So this isn't a situation where like, you know, I'm really like criticizing the special teams coach because the kick coverage is bad. I want it and really Bobby slow it too. Like and frankly, even Jeff Haffley, because he's coaching the, he's making the play calls on the defense side of the ball. This is the baseline. Where do you go from here? That is the question. That is the question. I think, uh, listen, we're going to give this team an opportunity. We're not jumping of conclusions about anybody or anything. I'm not calling for anybody's head here. It's just this is one game.

43:09It's one game we saw it. It's we got to. It wasn't good. It wasn't good for the most part. There were there were bright spots there. But, you know, it's, it's the first of 17 data points that we're going to get over the course of this regular season. And once we add up all 17, then we can make conclusions. But I think there are certainly a lot of people who are going to be sitting in meetings this week and have to do a lot of evaluating of themselves. And I'm going to have to do some soul searching and figure out how they can bounce back in a big way because what we saw, frankly, wasn't big. Wasn't good enough at all. So, all right. Yeah, I just think, um, look, we spent a lot of time talking about the negative because there was a lot of negative. I think there was some positive. I thought Kaden Proctor, you know, as the film has come out, looks like he's legit. It's one game, but he's legit. It's really the young guys.

46:15It's really the rookies. Caleb Douglas, obviously, great, great game for a debut, especially for a third round pick that a lot of people criticized myself included. And most people didn't have him going until like the fifth round or later. Um, really good. Chris Johnson up and down, but a lot of snaps at Jacob Rodriguez, 14 tackles. I think tackles sometimes are an underrated stat, but for a guy that's calling all the plays on defense, flying all over the field, getting 14 tackles, making his presence felt flashing a little bit. In his debut, I think is a really solid debut. Michael Taff, breaking in and, you know, with an, I mean, granted, it was an easy interception, but he's a guy who his greatest strength, what he's been loaded at for the most, what he's been loaded for the most is being in the right place.

47:18So you can't really criticize him for being in the right place and making a play because that's sort of his MO. Look, you're seeing the young guys step in, let their presence be felt. We need to see more of it. We need to see more of it from some other guys. But I don't think that in the grand scheme of things, this was a game where there was no positives. Like it's again, this was a 17 to 13 game. As bad as they played and they played poorly, I'm not going to sugarcoat that. 27 to 13. No, no, but it was 17 to 13 in the third quarter. This was, this was not a game that they were not competitive in. I mean, even 27 to 13, it was 27 to 13 at the end of the third quarter. It was a two score game, the entire fourth quarter. This was never a game that they were completely out of touch.

48:19That said, they were playing the writers. So we'll see how it goes in the rest of these games. But that in and of itself is sort of a positive if your baseline is, look, they didn't get completely blown out in their first game. If that's the baseline and it's going to get better, then look, it's going to be bad. But it might not be horrifically bad. Fair enough.
