Leading off the hottest story in Dodger baseball. All right, here we go. Let's jump right into a lot of Dodgers news like they're always some good, some bad, some positive, some negative. 4:07this is the concern for me at Gardo and Regas, who has been statistically, we look at the advanced dance by far the Dodgers best reliever this season. Well, at Gardo is on the 15-day IEL with lower back discomfort. And because of where we are in the season, as far as the schedule, the calendar goes, his regular season is over. And the good news is the Dodgers have not ruled him out for October for the post season. They're hopeful he can return for the stretch run and that he could help them win a third straight world series, but they are waiting on some advanced imaging on his back on his side before they know how realistic it is. And make no mistake about it. This is an absolutely significant loss. This is a back breaking loss. No pun intended. This is a loss that is extremely potentially devastating to a Dodgers bullpen

5:07that has been inconsistent all year that has had guys have their ups and downs. Well, Henrique has had the lowest amount of downs. It's been mostly up the season. It's been an absolutely breakout season for him. And he finishes the regular season, having posted a 285 ERA going 60 innings, 71 strikeouts and 25 walks and 61 play-to-appearances. His 247 expected ERA led the Dodgers bullpen and he had allowed just one home run all season. And before he had the blowup on Sunday, he had made 11 consecutive scoreless appearances, dating all the way back to August 16th. Then against the Marlens, he went two-thirds of an inning, gave him two runs on three hits, had the walk. And I can throw that stat line away. I absolutely can because I think we know why he ended up struggling in that one. It was because the dude just wasn't healthy. You don't

6:09go from having an elite season like that. And then he looked like he nothing like that superstar that he really has become out of the bullpen this year. I mean, he's quietly had an absolutely elite season for a reliever. And it's not just accounting stuff. I know you guys are the best bull-knowers. And that's why you guys want to rock with this show. And look at where he ranks. His expected ERA 90th percentile. Opponents expected batting average as 170. This is based on the quality of contact against him. And he induces a lot of soft contact. 99th percentile. Fast ball velocity. 100.8 miles per hour. 100th percentile. Average exit Velo. 84.1 miles per hour. 99th percentile. Hard hit percentage. 99th percentile. Barrel percentage. 98th percentile. So also, he not only does the induces all contact against strikeouts. A 29.3 strikeout rate.

7:0989th percentile. A 30.3 with rate. 85th percentile. There's more red on his baseball Savant page to the point where it looks like a murder scene, dude. Like this guy absolutely elite. And essentially every category that you need a reliever to be elite. And the Dodgers, the corresponding move was they were called Bobby Miller and Paul Jervais. And they reshuffled this Dodgers bullpen. And the October concern is just massive. I mean, Henriquez has quietly become like I said, one of the fewer levers that Dave Roberts can trust. A guy that you want out there in a big situation. I would have a guard of Henriquez over every single one in this bullpen. That includes Evan Phillips in Tanner Scott, who recently has been Tanner Nott. And also Jaggerio and Alex Vesia. Yeah. Good arms, solid arms at Reekas and Reekas on another level. And this is all happening while Edwin Diaz continues to struggle badly in his rehab assignment. He's walking hitters,

8:13hitting batters at Edwin Diaz has been an absolute bus so far for the Dodgers. I mean, they bought a lemon in Edwin Diaz so far. Hopefully that turns around. But you're talking about bad signing on bad signing. Good news. Kyle Tucker looks a lot better. So I will say that. But Edwin Diaz, I don't trust to close a kitchen cabinet right now in the post season. And the frustrating thing for me about this is the Dodgers spent all season searching for somebody in that bullpen that they could truly trust. They finally found that guy. And two weeks before the post season begins, his back gives out. I mean, they finally found that fire extinguisher. And now the fire extinguisher is on the IEL. It's just it's so painful. So we'll see what happens with the advanced imaging. And we'll see what happens with Edwin Diaz. If he could figure some things out and lock some things. But right now they're going to have to get creative with the bullpen like they do essentially every season. And that brings me to an update on Roki Sasaki. Roki Sasaki. I think is going to loom large and have to be pivotal

9:23for this team once again. He threw multiple simulated innings against hitters on September 9th. And the latest update says he's now likely to return during the giant series at Dodger Stadium on September 18th through the 20th is September 15th right now. So I think with a guard hand Rekas out for the rest of the regular season, Sasaki just becomes more important. He becomes absolutely essential. So I hope that Roki Sasaki can just transition to an elite bullpen piece like we saw last year. I'm hoping we get the full by La Roki. Switch to Roki. Okay, there you go. Roki is on the IEL with that right middle finger blister. It's retroactive all the way to August 27. So I'm encouraged by the Roki Sasaki piece of all this is because it's not a back or an arm. It is a blister, meaning it's service surface level. And yes, we've seen guys in this organization deal with blisters even show Hey, Dell, the blister this year Walker, Bueller in the past,

10:24Rachel famously peed on his finger. That's a true story. Rachel peed on his finger because he felt like it helped with the blister. I don't know if they're going to tell Roki to do that, but guys I'm immature. I'm very sorry. But that's the case right there. And the fascinating part of all this is that and the awesome part about all this is the way the rotation is lined up, you have the starters you need. Yes, it wasn't a great last start from Tyler Glass. Now I still have faith that he can turn things around. I have faith that that he has looked better than bad since he's gotten back and he was also great for the Dodgers last year in the post season, posing a 169 ERA. But when you look at this rotation last week, the Dodgers, they flip flops, scoobal in Yamamoto and they pushed scoobal forward, they pushed Yamamoto back. And I think the reason for that was to potentially set up Yamamoto to be the game one starter in the NLDS because this year, unlike last year, when

11:27you had a day off between games one and two, there's not that this season games one and two are back to back. So if you want to see, you want to see Yamamoto be able to pitch twice the DS, he really has to go in game one if they potentially use him in game five. So look, that is, it looks like that's going to be the plan for them. But look at that starting rotation, you got scoobal, you got Yamamoto, you got glass towel, you got snow, Rokisosaki can be either multi inning high leverage reliever or he can be a legitimate superstar closer that gives you one explosive inning. That's another part of all this too because back in September of 2025, he transitioned to the bullpen and ultimately he allowed just one run in 10 and 2 thirds post season innings in nine appearances. Let me say that one more time. Last year, one run in 10 and 2 thirds innings in the post season

12:27in nine appearances. So I wouldn't screw around with trying to make Rokisosaki anything else but a reliever at this point for this season. I think next year, he takes a big leap as a starter. I still think I still think Rokisosaki can win multiple saw young awards. So they don't need Roki to give them six innings this year. They need him to give them three outs that feel impossible to get at times, especially with this bullpen. Think about too, when Roki comes in in the post season, dude's triple digits with ease. He's going to be throwing 100 miles per hour nasty, fork ball, nasty slider. The dude's going to be elite. I'm excited to see it. But that is one of it. We're going to list out the top like 10 top 10 big questions for the Dodgers entering the post season. I think top five on that list is the status of a Gara Henriquez. And right now is a major question. Mark, we don't know the answers to it. But that is the latest on Ed Gardo and Rekas. But when we come back, we are going to break down Tarek Scubles. 16:40trustworthy bullpen piece. Emmett Sheen had some moments and Robleski had some moments. Yeah, Blake trying to up some downs and there was a lot of different pieces there and then 2024, most famously they just rode the bullpen extensively and it was Walker Bealy who got that final out. So we know the Dodgers have depth. Chris Boobitch is another guy. I'm very excited to see. He's got crazy whiff rate on that change up. He's someone that has been a lead down to my league level. It's given him zero runs and six appearances. So he's performed very well. So definitely keep your eye on Chris Boobitch. But I definitely want to switch to want to give some love to a guy that I've had high expectations for. Ben a little hard on and that is Tarek Scoobal. Tarek Scoobal was a lead yesterday. I am not afraid to say that I pushed him a little bit. And this because I know what he's capable of. And last night we saw the dominant version of a Tarek Scoobal. He gave up no runs on

17:42three hits. Nine strikeouts in one walk, seven innings of work and a very efficient 90 pitches. I liked the fact they didn't push him because we're in so close to the postseason. Let's keep him fresh. And those three hits by the reds. They were just three singles against him. Now the Dodgers, when you look at his performance, all of a sudden, he just is racking together the elite production that they were hoping to get. He's getting. He's gave the Dodgers 50 innings and he's produced a two five two ERA with 57 punchouts in 50 innings. And over his last four starts, he's posted a elite 173 ERA. And if you look at where he fares, basically only host a only a only Luzardo has been better than him since the trade. He's been the third best pitcher in Major League baseball since the Dodgers traded for him based on fan graphs war at 1.6. So he's been really good.

18:44I still think he can be better just because of how good he is. And I really stood out last that was the fastball. Scoobal through his heater. 44% of the time the reds knew it was coming and they still couldn't square it up. They still couldn't hit it. My favorite sequence of his start was against my guy, Ellie Delacruz, where Scoobal fell behind three own account. And he still came back to strike him out. That's ace stuff. That's not nibbling. That's not hey, I'm afraid to leave something in the zone against a really good hitter. They could go deep on me. That shows you he's not afraid of contacting just continued to attack. And now we're seeing Scoobal isn't just another good starter anymore. He's making a legitimate argument to be the guy that you give the ball to in the biggest game of the season. I took some heat. It's weird. I've had this weird relationship with Tarek Scoobal, right? I've been kind of dramatic against him, but I also took some heat because I said I would give him the ball in the biggest game of the season for the Dodgers this year just to show him that he's the guy, right? Show him that you want to make him a $400 million man. I think

19:49that is important. And look, it's like choosing between a Bentley and a Rolls Royce, right? I mean, the Dodgers have so many elite options in Tarek Scoobal is really looking the party sounds like the party sounds like he's ready to give it all for this team in the post season. And I really am excited about what this rotation looks like. It's a massive strength. It is the best rotation in baseball, entering October and Tarek Scoobal just elevates them to another level. And could you imagine just, I'm surprised not really a lot of people are talking about this, but could you imagine if Tarek Scoobal was traded to the Brewers or traded the Phillies or traded to another team? And we found out, we found out with show Hey Otani that he was not going to pitch again this season. The Dodgers might be in some real trouble, but they not only gave themselves some ace insurance, they got themselves arguably most likely probably the best pitcher in Major League Baseball. 20:51Tarek Scoobal from Cincinnati after the game. I think it's just kind of how you navigated through their lineup. Seemed like the fastball was going to your go-to pitch, especially for put away. Was that game plan for you? Was that just feel of that pitch in this game to me? Yeah, I think it's just kind of reading, reacting to what situations or reading swings and honestly a lot of that's will. I trust them with calling every pitch. I think I shook one time tonight, so we're in pretty good rhythm. You were really efficient tonight. Is this one of those outings where you kind of feel like you're really getting back to who you are on the mound as you care for October? Yeah, no, no, no, no, anytime you can pitch efficiently into the seventh, um less than on our pitches and and feel good enough to go back out for the eighth. I'm always going to take that, but yeah, I mean I'm not going to do all too much on the past or or where I'm at, you know, there's there's still more to get better at, you know, in terms of execution, so that's where my focus would be. Like a lot of the struggle has kind of been me versus me. I think it's too much out there. Not competing the way I know how to compete. Just thinking too much about pitch selection for whatever reason and trying to be too fine at times. And not just challenging guys, you know, hard to hit in this league. And when you have the stuff that I have, sometimes I try to be too perfect with things. Instead of just attacking guys over

24:04the middle of the plate and kind of letting my stuff play, especially early in games, behind in the count. Just not trying to be too fine. You know, more often than not they're going to get themselves out. So yeah, I think it's kind of, it's been a little me versus me and trying to find the rhythm of who I know I am. Yeah, I think just trying to get on the same page with everybody here, you know, catching department, pitching department, constantly learning each other and developing those relationships. A lot of that stuff, you don't realize, you know, it doesn't really go. No one writes about that kind of relationship, you know, but I think it matters. You know, it matters a lot. And I probably underestimated that a little bit. But just communicating, having an open dialogue with all these guys. On what I like to do, what I'm comfortable with. And then honestly, some things I'm uncomfortable with working on those things because it's going to be important. You know, it's not all about just being comfortable out there. You got to be a little uncomfortable and make some pitches

25:04that may not be your strength, you know, but it could be the hitter's weakness in that count. And in that moment, and you know, attacking that. So yeah, I think we're developing a really good relationship and end rhythm. Just with me and everybody else, you know, the catchers and the pitching department. Maybe we've been asking the wrong question about the Dodgers, right? We spent all year asking when this offense is finally going to look unstoppable. Maybe it doesn't have to. Maybe you don't need it to. If Terrick's football is giving you seven shut out innings and then you get something for the bullpen, maybe you can get four runs and when they do, last year, right? The Dodgers 40 win over the Reds is kind of that blueprint. They improved at 91 and 59. They clinched their 14th consecutive postseason bird and the other big takeaway. 27:09like he's figured something out. One for two with a home run, two walks, two runs, you stole a base. Second inning home run was not just your Gimia gave the Dodgers their first lead of the night. He's now home or two three times in his last five games. His season line is never going to get that back in 227 710 PS. But you're starting to see those impact swings and that's what matters right now. The Dodgers don't need Tucker to go back and fix five months of bad baseball. They need September Tucker to become October Tucker and that is octuck boke over. That's all that allows like, oh man, I forgot who did. I think I think it was I don't even know. And Teosker was one for three with two home run, two run home run two bad nights for Edmund Benson will Smith. They go over 12. They combined for that. They were actually out hit by the Red 7 to three. Nicola dole gave them seven innings and allowed three hits. The Dodgers maximize

28:11though. That's the important thing about this offense. Just maximize and get timely hits. Tucker to run home run. Teo to run home run. KK RBI single was another promising thing. They also drew six walks stole three bases, including. Hostway to Paula getting his first major league steal. That's the other big takeaway too. How did JDP, Hostway to Paula or as I call him, Hoseway, Dubala, over two with the walk is stolen base and no strikeouts. The dude doesn't strike out. He didn't swing out pitches off the plate. He's a lead. I know it sounds crazy, but dude, and I know. Look, I know you guys make fun of me. Tell me on the guy who said that they should trade him for Ellie Dela Cruz. I'll stay on by that. I think there's only two players that I would seriously consider trading. Hostway to Paula for Ellie Dela Cruz has three years left the team control in Bobbywood, Jr. But outside of that, I wouldn't. It's like I was trying to trade him for some whatever player. Right. I would trade it only for elite players under team control because the Dodgers have a big need at a short stop. But hey, if he could hit like this, I love it. Man,

29:13I'm all about it. I was the first person to say they should call him up when Kyle Tucker was struggling two months ago. So let's point that out as well. But if you want to make fun of me, I'm okay with that because I mean, even like this, I mean, if you want to maximize show, he's winning. But I don't have a hits like this, dude. I mean, that home run was like 416 feet off a 90 amount, five power fastball, the batsmeeds, Ben Ali, and he just does look overwhelmed by major league pitching. So he looks great. I mean, he's like that guy that enters the building in an office building on a Monday, that young employee, and by Wednesday, he's solving problems that the employees have been trying to figure out for months. Okay. Guess what? Get this guy a chair. Get this guy in office. Get this guy cubicle. Right. If you got to do that and heard some feelings, then fine. I do not care. He is that guy. Sometimes the highest, the highest paid employees, not always the best employee. The bullpen too was boring. And that was great. Evan Phillips, one hit, one inning, gave the home run to Ellie, the Cruz, but the bullpen for the most part pitch.

30:19Well, Alex Vesia also had a pretty solid night. So I was really good with the Dodgers. And now if you look at where they stand in these standings, the Dodgers are in a really good spot now, where you're right up top. We always know they were going to kind of blow away the division. They're nine games up on the pod race. So as the equals season done as far as the division goes, but if you look at the important, important stat here, there are two games back of the brewers for the best record. But you are three and a half games up on the braves for the second best record in Major League Baseball. Remember, they cannot tie with the braves. They can't tie with them because if they do, the braves hold the tiebreaker. Remember, they just swept the Dodgers a few weeks ago in Atlanta. So right now it's looking good for one of the top two seeds. And if the post season began today, right now, the Dodgers would face the winner of the braves versus the podraze in the wild card round. So I don't know. The podraze would be the world series as debatable as to

31:22which matchup you would want. But that is how it would play out right now. But it's your Dave Roberts here. He had to say about the Dodgers win in Cincinnati. Hey guys, I officially punched your ticket to the post season of coming into the season. There are so much talk about a three-peat. The support is the first step in your goals in achieving the, how important is it when you all can come together? Get a win like this and ultimately punch that ticket to get to where you want to go. It's great. You know, you should never take this for granted to be able to play in the post season. It's special. And there's a lot of guys that have done this. There's some guys there that haven't been a part of something like this. And so I think for me, the message was we haven't come close to playing our best baseball yet. And here we are with 12 games left. You know, getting a ticket to the to the post season. And that says a lot about this entire organization and just to finish wrong. And tonight, scuba was great. I'm very efficient. Really went after those guys and I thought the defense

32:28was sound. Teo obviously got a big hit for us. And you know, it was good for us to, you know, lose that series and bounce back and come back the way we do. Is there something about just with Teo scuba with how coming over the trade deadline, of course, having big goals of wanting to win for him to be the guy to come get the win today and performance like that as you will. Do you prepare for October? Is there something to that that just kind of has a nice little ring or maybe tee up for October for you? I think so. You know, obviously he was in the post season the last couple years, I think, and for him to get traded over here to feel like he's really a part of this. And I think he's done a great job with his teammates and the performance as well. And so to take the mount on the night that we had a chance to clinch him and we did it. So I think that that's something he should be proud of. And, you know, we expect many more victories from him and our team. But again, we have a long way to go, but it is nice to acknowledge, you know, this great opportunity. 14 straight trips off to overtime baseball record like how impressive is it for you guys to be

33:33able to do as a franchise for last decade? It's really impressive. I didn't appreciate that. It was you know, the most by any team and you know, with that, that comes with ownership, that comes with front office support staff, players and player development and signing, you know, scouting. And so and obviously here up here and you know, we go through a lot of players every year and guys find a way to step up. And so that's the thing I'm probably most proud of is the consistent, the consistency of winning, you know, over the long term. And you know, any team in the organization can win in a given year where things line up and do it to do it every single year when you're expected to do to do this, assess something about the entire organization. How cool is it to keep that kind of team culture going when there is player turnover over the zeroes for two years? It's not easy. I think it's a lot harder than people think it is. You know, human nature alone, when you're hungry, you're chasing something. It's a lot more easy to be

34:36motivated versus having been there done that. It gets a little trite, little old, you know, but to keep guys enthusiastic, focused, hungry, that's harder. And but to their credit, they've stayed the course. And for me, we're just as hungry as we were in 24 and 25. And this is a separate season. And our guys understand that. Of course, he was the individual example of a guy who's getting closer to that better version of himself with every start. Yes, I think what Tarek, some of it is just kind of familiarizing himself with the pitching coaches, the catchers. And you know, I think you look at his probably seven, eight stars, I'm like that. He's had, you know, hand full of different catchers. So it's hard to get in that rhythm, that trust. But I think the last couple have been his best. So that's probably a more of a question for him. But for me, I see just more of the trust in whatever is called. And

35:40then you can just go out there and execute. I did. I just kind of, we did a champagne toast. And again, you got to acknowledge it. It's a big deal. What was your message? Yeah, it was the message was, you know, we've accomplished a lot of to this point all the while not playing our best baseball. Let's get some of these guys healthy. A lot of guys contribute, a lot of guys that aren't in the room still contributed to where we're at. And let's let's finish strong. And you know, we got another month and a half of baseball to play. What's happened with the Eduardo? Yeah, it was just kind of the back, the side. We're going to get a scan when it gets back to LA. Or maybe here, I'm not sure, but I don't want to say oblique, but there's something there. But hopefully, you know, it's an IL and obviously his season is done, the regular season.
