2:05I want everyone's takes on what we saw tonight. Another ugly loss by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Another series loss for the Los Angeles Dodgers. LA has lost six of their last eight games. They lose tonight in extra innings. This is a Dodgers team that just continues to look like a team searching for answers. A team that some nights it feels like they figured it out. Some nights it figured it's the pitching. Some nights it's the hitting tonight. This is a Dodgers team that should have won this game. Boogie Betz has continued to show signs of life. But I have to start with the biggest issue. We'll get into the game.

3:05Brock Stewart is runner on second. He gave him some contact. I don't trust Brock Stewart at all. I mean, if this is the post season, I do not trust him at all. I don't trust Brock Stewart to close the kitchen cabinet. Get alone, slam the door shut in a big post season game. I just don't. And then Tanner Scott has had a better year. Tanner Scott has shown a lot of signs of life. It's been a much better year for Tanner Scott tonight. Once again, could not get the job done. And yes, Tanner Scott has had a better year. But it's really about how bad last year was he still isn't the Tanner Scott that they had hoped to get. He still isn't the Tanner Scott that we saw with the San Diego Padres or the Miami Marlins.

4:10Just imagine if it was if imagine if it was game five of the NLDS, imagine if it was game seven of the World Series. Imagine if it was a big game for the Dodgers in the post season with the season on the line, ask yourself the question, would you really feel confident with Tanner Scott out on the mound? Maybe you would for me personally, I have my doubts. I really truly do because when he misses, he misses bad, it's hit a bull. He's out of the plate. And we just never seen it too. We've never seen Tanner Scott perform well for the Dodgers in the post season. After tonight, you look at his season stats still really good to be quite honest. The 257 ERA at 233 FIP.

5:11It's not the Tanner Scott that the Dodgers signed up for. The Dodgers paid 72 million to a guy that could dominate hitters, miss bats does not have to pitch the contact. The guy that is a sub two ERA guy. So tonight was a major concern. The bullpen is rickety. I think it, like a Gara Henrique is really the most trusted Dodgers reliever right now. You talk about a trust tree more like a trust twig, but the biggest issue with the Dodgers tonight. It's not Yalamoto giving up home runs. It's the way that Shohe O'Tani looked at the plate. We could ignore the game if we wanted to. Don't worry. We'll talk about this game for sure. But the major concern is how Shohe O'Tani performed and how he looked. Tonight Shohe O'Tani went over fourth a walk.

6:13He struck out four times for the first time this season. And I want you to take a look at how Shohe O'Tani looked at the plate. And we're going to get into that next here on the lead off. It doesn't. And I want to go back to an episode from month ago. And if you watched that episode and you were one of the people in the chat, one of the people in the comments that was saying, DMACC, who are you to tell Shohei Uhtani not to pitch? Who are you to tell Shohei Uhtani? It's not a good idea to pitch through an injury. If you're one of those people that thought you knew what was best for Shohei Uhtani at the time that you knew that Shohei Uhtani should be pitching. Saying DMACC, you have no right to tell Shohei what to do. Where are those people now? If you're a man, if you will step up, if you're not afraid, if you're one of those people, I want you to comment on this episode after the fact, comment during the episode.

9:19Where are those people now? I was sitting here all season long saying that this would happen. No other show was doing that. No other Dodgers podcast Dodgers show Dodgers, Analysts, Dodgers, B-Rout of Dodgers, Journalists. No one was doing that. I was. I've been doing it for three months. Have I not? Because the most important thing that Shohei Uhtani provides to the Los Angeles Dodgers is what he can do with the bat. And Shohei Uhtani, the second half of the season, has been the 61st after tonight, maybe lower, probably the 65th best bat in Major League Baseball. The 65th best bat in Major League Baseball in the second half of the season. Right now, if this was just the second half of the season, Shohei Uhtani wouldn't even make the all-star team. That is where he is right now. Because there was the Sai Young push. There was the let's pitch through a bicep. Let's pitch through a knee injury.

10:20This is not a talent show in October. It's not some circus act, right? Like at some point, what did I say? I said that this would happen. I warned of this all season long, right? I never turned back when I had people in the comments telling me that I shouldn't be saying that. I had people in the comments saying, I shouldn't be telling the Dodgers a Shohei Uhtani what to do. It's my show. Am I sure I'm going to give my opinion? Okay, if you want to watch, don't watch it. All right, it's a number of Dodgers podcasts in the world. I don't care. It's because of you guys. You guys are the fans. Am I wrong? Sometimes, yes. I am the idiot. I'm the moron that said that Kyle Tucker would be the second best hit on the Dodgers this year. I was wrong. But I take my L's. I take my L's. I admit when I'm wrong, but about Shohei Uhtani, I was right all season long.

11:25And it's about the Dodgers and Dave Roberts and Andrew Freeman, the powers that be, which look, of course, you got to respect Shohei Uhtani. What he's given to the game, what he's given to major league baseball. It's unbelievable. He deserves all the love and respect. He deserves to be called the best player of all time. Fine, great. But the difference is this year, he's injured. He pitched injured multiple times and the bat has fallen off a cliff. The first two years, Shohei Uhtani, 50 plus home runs. 50 plus home runs. And it was the biggest reason why the Dodgers got to where they got to. But guess what? Part of the reason why Shohei Uhtani went out there and part of the reason why he deferred

12:2697% of his contract was so the Dodgers could put talent around him. And they did just that. They traded for Tarrick scubo. They have four legitimate aces. Yamamoto, snow, glass now, and scubo. Shohei Uhtani does not have to pitch again this season. They won without him pitching in 2024 when they only had two and a half starters in a banged up bullpen. They don't need this guy to force anything because guess what? Shohei Uhtani offensive is a DH. He could have won the MVP with that. But now there's no say young. He's not going to win the MVP. And right now he doesn't look like he's anywhere close to being 100% right for the post season.

13:30Last time I checked, the front of the Dodgers uniform, it says the Dodgers lost sandals. It's not they're not the Los Angeles Otonis. Okay. As great as Shohei Uhtani is, it's the Dodgers. All right. It's the Dodgers. And he came here to win World Series titles. And the best thing for the Dodgers this year is for Shohei Uhtani to focus on one specific thing. And that's being the very best hitter that they have. Because guess what? It was great to see Freddie Freeman hit his first home run since the 4th of July. It was great to see Teosker Nandas get three hits. It was great to see Mookie Betts hit a home run. It was great to see that. But those guys even at their best right now are not close to what Shohei Uhtani is when

14:34he's at his best as a hitter. That scubaugh, glass now, Yamamoto, Snell, all those guys can absolutely pitch as well if not better than Shohei Uhtani when he's at his very best. So let's stop the charade. Let's stop this gimmick right this season. And let's do what's best. If Shohei's healthy 100% fine, absolutely. Here's the thing. People are out there saying, oh, pitch and hit. Let him do it. Dude, we know he can pitch and hit at an elite level. Here's the thing though. Here's the difference is that we've. So the last two seasons were Shohei Uhtani was 70% above league average offensively. He's never done that in a season where he's pitched. Every year where he's pitched and hit in the same season, the offense has a massive drop off.

15:35And here's the thing. We all call Shohei Uhtani the goat, right? He's never finished a full season where he's been the best hitter. He's never finished a full season where he's been the best pitcher. What makes him the goat is that he can do both at a top five level. But we need him on the Dodgers to hit at a top one to two level. That's the most important thing because when you try to do both and you're not at 100% in the organization, it's like, oh, Shohei, yeah, do whatever you want. And Shohei is like, oh, I'm super mad. I can't even get hurt. And then both of you said, okay, it's fine. Did a, oh, yeah, you said, and then what happens? What happens is 40 plus games where the dudes basically hitting like he's the anti-pahes. That's just not who Shohei is. He's supposed to be at the table with Aaron Judge in Wonsoto and you're on Alvarez. He's not close to that right now. That's not an opinion. That's a fact.

16:35That's based on statistics and data that proves that. And the Dodgers let this happen. Shohei Otoni let this happen. And there's a reason why this team has been bad since the old star break. It's because their best hitter has been a slightly above average hitter. Shohei Otoni has gone from the unicorn to a pretty good horse. And I hate to see that for Shohei Otoni because we all know what he's capable of when he's at 100% and that is being the best player on the planet. But because they force this for a start there, start here and say, young this and end it. It's led to this. And look, we can get into the nitty gritty. You guys know that's what we do on the show. But a lot of times you're only as good as your very best player.

17:39And the Dodgers very best player has not been anywhere. Fernando Tatis Jr. Has been 60 batters better in the second half in Shohei. Fernando Tatis Jr. Remember the guy we were all clowning? They could have hit home run. He's been the second best hitter in baseball in the second half of the season. Shohei Otoni has been the 65th. So I think it's a major opportunity for this organization to prove why they're the best organization in baseball and one of the best organizations in professional sports and say, hey, we're going to do it's right for us. We're going to do it's right for you. And you're not pitching anymore this season unless we get desperate, unless we absolutely need it. And you're going to find a way to get back as a bat. And then you look at the rest of this team, you look at the rest of this offense where

18:44we've seen it just win tomorrow. Sure. Sure. Yeah, just win tomorrow, right? I mean, here's the thing too. Like we have to have some honest conversations, guys. Let's be honest. Is that we, Andrew Freeman is the best in the business. But when to sustain a dynasty, you have to hit on almost every big sign you make. And guess what? You know what happens sometimes when companies at the highest level, when they make billions of dollars and no one can touch them, they say that sometimes, you know, you have to sometimes success and money can stifle creativity. And I think one thing we've seen with the Dodgers last couple of seasons is guess what? We're the richest team out there, right? We got all the money. We don't have to be creative, got a closer problem, get Edwin Diaz.

19:48He's the highest price closer on the market. Need to add some offense? We're going to get the most expensive bat on the market. That's lazy to me. That's just saying, hey, we can outspend people. So we're going to get the most expensive item at the store. It's not creative. There was no creativity. There was no creativity and get Edwin Diaz and Kyle Tucker. That's just the riches doing the block flexing. And I look at those two signings, Kyle Tucker, massive bus so far. We go down as one of the worst signings in the history of MLB free agency. That's how bad he's been. Blow average. That blow average offensive player, blow average defensive player. And he's getting paid $60 million per season. Edwin Diaz injured ineffective bust. Look at tonight. Brock Stewart trade hasn't been good.

20:49They're Scott $72 million better, not worth $72 million. So a lot of this is on them. And two, I mean, other way, other way, like two is, I mean, they bet on Miguel Rojas. They bet on Kike Hernandez. They said yes to the vets. They said yes to the players that got them here. They got them the two world series. Was that the right decision? Was it? There remains to be seen. Kike Hernandez has been a, has been since Kike Hernandez has came back. Since Kike Hernandez has came back from Andrew, I'm sure he'll have a big moment in the post season. I'm sure he will. Kike Hernandez since returning from the injury is since returning from the injury in 2026. He really, really hasn't popped yet. It's hopefully it's coming.

21:51Hopefully it is. Has it been bad per se? We'll see it happen happens in the post season. It will Smith gave one a ride, just missed one that could have been a walk off. But this team, they're just not good enough right now. They're just not good Tucker fire post season. I hope so. If you don't, here's a call Tucker. His regular season's already over. There's not enough games in at bats to have him turn around his regular season. He, in fact, he has to be the Dodgers. He has to explode in the post season. Explode in the post season for that deal to feel like a good deal. Until we see that, yeah, it's going to, it's going to be tough. But I see your comments guys welcome to the Dodgers nation post game show. Just win too old to slow living in the past with some Blake. Just need a single not a walk off home run.

22:51That's a thing too. It's an approach thing, right? It's an approach thing for this Dodgers team and you do not need that. You don't need to be a, you don't need a team that is going to try to hit home or they're just not doing it. That's the big difference between this year's Dodgers and last year's Dodgers. This Dodgers team, they win 60% of the games where they homework, right? And they lose, they win 35% of the games they don't. I mean, this team, when they don't hit a home run, they would be at a 50 win pace. This Dodgers team doesn't know how to win games when they don't slug. They don't. That's just not there. They're not built for that. That's just not their approach. That's just not how they do business, right? And you look at the team stats right now, this Dodgers team as a group.

23:57Right now, the Dodgers, when it comes to overall, overall team home runs, overall team home runs for the Dodgers. They have 171. That's eighth in Major League Baseball, eighth in Major League Baseball. So for a team, you don't always have to do that way, right? Because if you look at runs per game, the Milwaukee Brewers are third in Major League Baseball. The Dodgers are fifth, but the Brewers have 704 runs and that's the third most in Major League Baseball, but they also have hit the least amount of home runs tied for last. So that's the only way to win. The Dodgers, that's their approach. It's home runner bust. And here's the big difference though, is this year, they're eighth in home runs. Last year, the Dodgers, they were second behind the Yankees for home runs.

25:01They had the most homers in the National League. It made more sense last year. This year, you have a team that relies on home runs to win, but not hitting home runs at the same rate. And it's as simple as that. This team has HDR, home, no, HRD, home run deficiency, dependency. And that's just how they are. If they're not hitting home runs and not winning. And at some points out here, AFCube, ACCOP, AFCOP 13 just needed a single nine walk off home run. Stuart, terrible trade. I mean, they got James Alman, who's not a big leagueer. So really, a J Bullock Conforto was technically worse as a player, but the Tucker contract is worse. Exactly. J Bullock, most pathetic team I've ever seen, Tucker batting ninth, Edmund Litov. Like I said, a lot of this is on the roster, a lot of this is on the players. Can the players figure this thing out?

26:02I just look at a Dodgers team that is in a tough spot. Is in a very tough spot right now because they are reeling. And we've got 23, 24 games left in this season. And it's something that scares you. It's something that maybe if you want to find the flip on it, it's, oh, these guys can find it at the right time and peak at the right time. And look, these guys are all professionals. They've been there before. I do believe that there's a world where they can find it. And maybe you get to the postseason, everything kind of works out. Yeah. Like that's the optimist in me. That's the, that's the Mitch lot of half full in me. But also look, I mean, I got to be, I got to, I got to keep it 100 of these guys, right?

27:06I mean, that's what this shows all about. If you guys want shows that will just stray a bit lighter, you they exist, okay? But that's not what this shows about. Show us about telling the truth about the Dodgers. And the truth about the Dodgers is they've been a bad team for almost two months now. And they've been an inconsistent offense for a long time. I mean, you look at August score less than four runs per game. You've seen some offensive life against a, a cardinals team, but is it good enough? Hopefully the Mookie turnaround is real, but even Mookie, even have tonight Mookie's been still a blow average bad. He's in 1% blow average all season long, but let's hear from Freddie Freeman. He usually is pretty even keel about this kind of stuff. He's here to see what he had to say. Here's Freddie Freeman from inside the Dodgers clubhouse. Focus, free of men getting that consistency back. This way, then also just going to take advantage of you to take your walks. Yeah, I have faith. Focus, free of men getting that consistency back.

28:08This way, then also just going to take advantage of you to take your walks. Yeah, I have faith. I feel good. It's like for a while now. Just trying to get on base, keep things moving. I was able to do a lot of that tonight and score some runs late in the last few games as a group, so take that as a positive. We're seeing sparks with the scuff and so forth, seeing if you places where improvement is probably needed with runners in scoring position tonight. You guys were one great team. What is, what do you think just leads to that and how do you guys going to have to find ways to address things like that? Yeah, I mean, I wish I could give you guys the clear cut of the answer to why we're not getting hits with runners with score position, but there is no clear cut answer. It's just kind of how it goes. When you're going through it as a group, it's just, you know, it seemed to get those opportunities and you don't get the big hits. Just kind of what they did over there on the sixth inning out on, they got the big hits and that's what they ended up winning. So I know that everyone does want to hear it and the fans want to hear it, but 18 opportunities

29:12at least I guess you're going to try and try and positive, but that was a tough loss. I mean, you guys have been through this before everybody goes through this in this game. I mean, how do you get out of it? Is it just walk away and? It's always fun going. You do have to take a step back. We are 25 plus games over 500. We are back to back, real serious champions. We are a great team. Great teams go through it and we'll be all right. It's been about two months though, we're getting about 500. Does it feel like it's been harder to stack out of it than maybe one street? No, just kind of how it goes. So why you play a hundred or two games, why we got off to a great start to manage these stretches throughout the course of the season. So we've had a month left, starting the course and runs now, so I hope we can put it together last 20 plus games. It's easy to keep those things from perspective like record. Very easy. Very easy with this group. We've been through everything. We've seen everything. We've had our back against the walls and had it win games and we needed to. It's a very resilient group and you've certainly seen my life out of the offense.

30:15So I think good things are ahead. Yep. It's Freddie Freeman right there. You heard him one for 18 with runners in scoring position. That's almost unbl- without, I mean, I'll do my research like I always do, but I mean, that has to be up there for worst all season, image like baseball. One for 18 with 13 men left on base. And the wild thing about this and talking about yesterday's show is the fact that this is a team that was 21st in Major League Baseball in the month of August for runners in scoring position opportunities created. So they weren't creating opportunities in August like they should have. And that is something that that is something that you absolutely, I guess, can I mean,

31:20that's a positive that they had the opportunity to cash in. And early in the year, they had been a better team. But as my guy, Fabian, our DIA, I think is the very best Dodgers be reporting the game. And our DIA asked Freddie Freeman right there. He said, Hey, I mean, it's been two months. I had two months planned 500 baseball. What's the concern level there? And there's got to be one, right? There has to be one because of just the ineptitude of this offense and the ineptitude of just this team to to string together any runs. Look, remember, there's a nine game homestand. Homestand. This is the perfect time to get things right and get the feel and get those postseason vibes going and just man, first two games at home, you'll lose an extra innings tonight. The night before you get smoked, you give up 13 runs. So look, no one's going to feel sorry for the Dodgers. They're not going to feel sorry for themselves.

32:20But I do believe that this is a team that we're going to find out. Are they a great team? Are they an all time great team? Right now, this is not an all time great run. If you win three in a row, it's an all time great run. So team that's gone back to back. I think the team has the character and the talent to go down as a team that can be an all time great team and win three straight titles. But like I point out, I mean, some of the greatest rotations did not win World Series. Look at the Atlanta Braves the 90s. They won just one World Series. Look at that 2011 Phillies team. They got bounced in the NLDS. There's no guarantee that you are going to win the World Series just because you have an elite starting rotation. They're going to need the offense to pick it up and they're going to perform better in those situations with runners in scoring position. But here was he was Dave Roberts. 33:22moments ago. Dave, first I know we've had a lot of talk about Show Rio Tani, but just after that last step that he did look physically uncomfortable. Was there anything that you saw in there or is there any concern that maybe you just might make more sense to either give him some time or going to work through those? Yeah. I saw the same thing that everyone saw. I'm going to talk to him tomorrow and really try to figure out, you know, get with Thomas and figure out where he's at physically because, yeah, I saw the shaking of the arm. I saw the wincing and clearly the swings aren't who he is. And so obviously there's some compensation. So I'm going to talk to him and then I'll make a decision tomorrow about his availability. When you look at this offense right now, it feels like there are some positives and you look at the frame guys home in your regard to the run score. But then when you see one for 18 with runners in scoring position tonight, how do you just

34:23kind of balance that? You do see things getting back on track, good heart contact, but also you want to see a little bit more especially in those positions. Yeah. I think that, you know, there were some good things as far as the way Mookie's swung the bat, Teo really came to life. I think Freddie's just great tonight getting on base five times. You know, one part is getting guys on base, the other part is driving men, obviously. You know, Teo hit a ball really well in that first inning that wasn't rewarded. But yeah, I think that for me, I see some chase with guys in scoring position tonight. And some not well-batted ball. So I don't have a solution right now as far as we just got to find a way to get hits and drive their runs in. But I do think in total, I like the way that, you know, guys are putting together better at bats, creating some stress, which, you know, in the last two months we really didn't

35:27do that consistently. But I thought the last couple nights are often showed some life. And, you know, I mean, so I know it doesn't feel good to lose and be one for 18 or whatever it is. I do think that there's some things for me that I can, you know, look forward to with this offense. Or even though you're looking forward to the things, what is your level of disappointment? I wouldn't say disappointment. It's just, you know, we just got our fine ways to win baseball games. And, you know, it doesn't feel good when young motos pitching and leisurely and we don't win the game. Smaller if you've got the scooble. And I think right now it's just, we just got to win games. So I don't think Jim, there's really time to be disappointed. I don't think anyone cares. It's like we just got to perform and execute in win baseball games. That's just the bottom line right now.

36:28You've been talking about the belt building that's showing, hey, is that just giving him a couple of days or is it high else? It won't be an IL. Unless it is, but I am very, it's very unlikely. But I do think that I'm going to have a conversation and I'll decide, we'll decide, you know, after I talk to him, you know, what's the extent of it? You know, that's sure he doesn't look great. How much of this is weighing him maybe in a day and also him not wanting to take the day? He definitely doesn't want to take the day. He feels that I know speaking for him, I think. I know he feels that he needs to post and be in the lineup. And if he's upright, he should play. I respect that. But if he's, you know, feeling the way that visibly looks, then really not helping anyone. So that's the conversation that I'll have with him. Everybody in this game goes through this. And you guys as a team went through this last year to a certain degree.

37:31Is there some encouragement in that and that guys know how to get out of this eventually? Yeah, there is. I think that you can look back the last, you know, couple of years and August. It's sort of re, it's shown itself again. And we have gotten to the other side. Never feels good when you're in it. But I do feel that, you know, we have the players that can turn this thing around. And like I said earlier is the last couple nights, I do feel a little bit more encouraged although we've lost two ball games. With the money, right, the arms up is so many, it's like the bus, that's like a bus trip they need to share the day or two could help something like that. Well, they've the lower body stuff, right? And that might not be a type of thing where a day or two necessarily makes it any better. Could this be one of those types of things that he just kind of has to play through and figure out how to hit with whatever is going on down there?

38:35You know, yeah, is it is a day or two or I mean shoot even 10 days? Is that going to help get him to be 100%? Don't know the answer. You know, but I think where we're at, I think he's just going to have to find a way to make do and do the best he can. But what can I do? Have the conversation, you know, get him off his feet, kind of try to get some strength back, get him feeling better and then, you know, run him out there. What you see with your friends, right? The color of his campaign is probably like higher than I think a lot of people would have, you know, guess. How do you kind of, I guess, balance that, maybe like, okay, well, you know what, like you can deal with this, you can figure it out or, you know, obviously kind of kind of really make a little bit so that it doesn't get worse. I think the way, you know, how to balance it is knowing that we still have a full month of baseball and what's the best way to get him ready for the end of the season and the

39:40postseason. And so, you know, that's kind of, and I don't know the answer right now. I'm going to have an honest conversation with the training staff and we show, hey, and figure out what that answers. But yeah, I think to expect him to be 100 percent, you know, I don't know. Did he certainly compromise the play, but why do you think that high L is not going to look like that right now? Yeah, I mean, again, I just speaking honestly, I don't think it's an IL, but like I said, it's still a possibility, you know, and you know, just having that conversation and figuring out what's best for him. And I do think that right now, yeah, we're in September, but I still feel that there's enough days on the calendar of the season that, you know, we have plenty of time to make whatever decision we make and to come out of it and have him come out of it in a better

Do you think that everything is dealing with from the physical issues to the pitching kind of being up in the air is maybe causing him to press a little, and then it will break even my mouth? You know, I mean, he's as strong mentally as a player as I've ever been around. So for me tonight was something where it was not mental for me. I thought I think it's more physical. I don't think when he's in the batter's box, he's thinking about pitching. I don't think that once the game start, that's a weighing on him. So yeah, so then I think for me, it's just more of really trying to get to the heart of it, the core of it and be honest and see how he really feels. And I've got my own thoughts, but I want to have that conversation. If they say it comes to giving them some time off, like there's some guys I think, right that, you know, the greatest kind of say, right, you can fall out of bed and just hit it.
