Triple A says the national average for a gallon of diesel fuel now tops $6 per gallon, and that increase leads to higher prices. Fox's Jenny Kassola reports, Diesel fuel is used for freight and delivery trucks, so it's much more expensive to transport things. The independent Grocer's Alliance says fuel can account for up to 30% of the total cost of food. Higher prices are having a negative impact on small business owners. NFIB Mississippi Directly Along explains, We represent every industry, whether you're a poultry farmer, whether you're shipbuilding,
retail, restaurant, whatever it may be, but there have been a lot of rising prices, and it definitely affects their cost of the materials they get. They either have to eat that cost or pass it on to consumers. No gas prices. They continue to go down and then go back up in the inflation prices.
