Day 69: Numbers 12-13; Proverbs 2-3; John 5

0:00CHAPTER XII. Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman. They said, has the Lord indeed spoken only with Moses? Hasn't he spoken also with us? The Lord heard it. Now the man Moses was very humble, above all the men who were on the surface of the earth. The Lord spoke suddenly to Moses and to Aaron and to Miriam. Come out, you three, to the ten of meeting. They three came out. The Lord came down in a filler of cloud and stood at the door of the tent, and called Aaron and Miriam and they both came forth. He said, here now my words, if there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, he is faithful in all my house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even manifestly, and not in dark speeches, and

1:01the form of the Lord shall he see. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant, against Moses? The anger of the Lord was kindled against them, and he departed. The cloud removed from over the tent, and behold Miriam was leprous, as wide as snow, and Aaron looked at Miriam and behold she was leprous. Aaron said to Moses, oh, my Lord, please don't lay sin on us, for that we have done foolishly, and for that we have sinned. Let her not, I pray, be as one of the dead, of whom the fleshes have consumed when he comes out of his mother's womb. Moses cried to the Lord, saying, heal her, Lord, I beseech you. The Lord said to Moses, if her father had but spit in her face, shouldn't she be ashamed seven days? After her be shut up outside of the camp seven days, and after that she shall be brought in again. Miriam was shut up outside of the camp seven days, and the people didn't travel until

2:01Miriam was brought in again. Afterward the people traveled from Hazaroth, and encamped into wilderness up Paran. Chapter 13 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, sinned men that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel, of every tribe of their fathers, how you sinned a man, everyone a prince among them. Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran, according to the commandment of the Lord, all of them men who were heads of the children of Israel. These were the names of the tribe of Rubin, Shamuah, the son of Zachary, of the tribe of Simeon, Shafat, the son of Horae, of the tribe of Judah, Caleb, the son of Jifuna, of the tribe of Isaacar, Egyal, the son of Joseph, of the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshaya, the son of Nun, of the tribe of Benjamin, Paltai, the son of Raffu, of the tribe of Zebulan,

3:02Gadiel, the son of Sodai, of the tribe of Joseph, namely of the tribe of Manasa, Gadai, the son of Susai, of the tribe of Dan, Amiel, the son of Gemalai, of the tribe of Asher, the son of Michael, of the tribe of Naptalai, Nabi, the son of Vopsai, of the tribe of Gad, Guell, the son of Makai. These are the names of the men who Moses sent to spy out the land. Moses called Hoshaya the son of Nun, Joshua. Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, go up this way by the south and go up into the hill country and see the land what it is, and the people who dwell there, whether they are strong or weak, whether they are few or many, and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad, and what cities there are that they dwell in, whether in camps or in strongholds, and what the land is, whether it is fat or lean, whether there is wood in it or not. Be of

4:05good courage and bring of the first root of the land. Now the time was the time of the first ripe grapes, so they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zinn to Rehob to the entrance of Hamath. They went up by the south and came to Hebron and Ahaman, Sheshai and Talmai, the children of Anak were there. Now Hebron was built seven years before Zohan in Egypt. They came to the valley of Eschol and cut down from there a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it on a staff between two. They brought also up the pomegranates and of the figs. The place was called the Valley of Eschol because of the cluster which the children of Israel cut down from there. They returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days. They went and came to Moses and to Aaron and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kedish, and brought back word to them and to all the congregation and showed them the fruit of the land. They told him and said,

5:07we came to the land where you sinness, and surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is the fruit of it. However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very great, and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. Amalek dwells in the land of the south and the Hittite and the Jebyside and the Amarite dwell in the hill country and the Canaanite dwells by the sea and along by the side of the Jordan. Caleb stilled the people before Moses and said, let us go up at once and possess it, for we are well able to overcome it. But the men who went up with him said, we aren't able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we. They brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the children of Israel's saying, the land through which we have gone to spy it out is a land that eats up the inhabitants of it, and all the people who we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come of the Nephilim, and we are in our own sight as grasshoppers,

6:11and so we were in their sight. Proverbs chapter 2 My son, if you will receive my words and store up my commandments within you, so as to turn your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding, yes, if you call out for discernment and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of Yahweh and find the knowledge of God. For Yahweh gives wisdom out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He lays up sound wisdom for the upright, he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, that he may guard the paths of justice and preserve the way of his saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity in every good path. For wisdom will enter into your heart, knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will watch over you, understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things, who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways

7:15of darkness, who rejoice to do evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, who are crooked in their ways and wayward in their paths, to deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words, who forsakes the friend of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. For her house leads down to death, her paths to the dead, none who go to her return again, neither do they attain to the pass of life, that you may walk in the way of good men and keep the pass of the righteous. For the upright will dwell in the land, the perfect will remain in it, but the wicked will be cut off from the land, the treacherous will be rooted out of it. Proverbs chapter 3 My son, don't forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments. For length of days and years of life in peace will they add to you. Don't let kindness and truth forsake you, bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, so you will find favor and good

8:17understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding, and all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your pass. Don't be wise in your own eyes, fear Yahweh and depart from evil. It will be helped to your body and nourishment to your bones. Honor Yahweh with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase, so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. My son, don't despise Yahweh's discipline, neither be weary of his reproof, for whom Yahweh loves, he reproves, even as a father the son in whom he delights. Happy as the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding. For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her. Length of days is in her right hand, and her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are the ways of pleasantness, all her pass are peace. She is a

9:22tree of life to those who lay hold of her. Happy as everyone who retains her. By wisdom, Yahweh founded the earth. By understanding he established the heavens. By his knowledge the depths were broken up, and the skies dropped down the dew. My son, let them not depart from your eyes, keep sound wisdom and discretion, so they will be life to your soul and grace for your neck. Then you shall walk in your way securely, your foot won't stumble. When you lie down you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet. Don't be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked when it comes. For Yahweh will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being taken. Don't withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in the power of your hand to do it. Don't say to your neighbor, go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it to you, when you have it by you. Don't devise evil against your neighbor, seeing he dwells securely by you. Don't strive with a man without cause if he has done you no harm.

10:26Don't envy the man of violence, choose none of his ways. For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright. Yahweh's curse is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses the habitation of the righteous. Surely he mocks the mockers, but he gives grace to the humble. The wise will inherit glory, but shame will be the promotion of fools. After these things, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now in Jerusalem, by the sheepgate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porches, and these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel of the Lord went down at certain times into the pool and stirred up the water, whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was made whole of whatever disease he had. A certain man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time,

11:26he asked him, do you want to be made well? The sick man answered him, sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I'm coming, another steps down before me. Jesus said to him, arise, take up your mat and walk. Immediately the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked. Now it was the Sabbath on that day, so the Jews said to him who was cured, it is the Sabbath, it is not lawful for you to carry the mat. He answered them, he who made me well, the same said to me, take up your mat and walk. Then they asked him, who is the man who said to you, take up your mat and walk? But he who was healed didn't know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place. Afterward, Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, behold, you are made well, sin no more so that nothing worse happens to you. The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. For this cause, the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath,

12:31but Jesus answered them, my Father is still working, so I am working too. For this cause, therefore, the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God, his own Father, making himself equal with God. Jesus, therefore, answered them, most assuredly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father doing. For whatever things He does, these the Son also does likewise. For the Father has affection for the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does. He will show Him greater works than these that you may marvel, for as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He desires. For the Father judges no one, but He has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who doesn't honor the Son doesn't honor the Father who sent Him. Most assuredly, I tell you, He who hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and doesn't come into judgment, but has passed out of death

13:35into life. Most assuredly, I tell you, the hour comes and now is when the dead will hear the Son of God's voice and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself. He also gave Him authority to execute judgment because He is a Son of Man. Don't marvel at this, for the hour comes in which all that are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come out. Those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment, I can't of myself do nothing, as I hear I judge, and my judgment is righteous, because I don't seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me. If I testify about myself, my witness is not valid. It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which He testifies about me is true. You have sent to John, and He has testified to the truth, but the testimony which I receive is not from man. However,

14:37I say these things that you may be saved. He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in His light. But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John, for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do testify about me, that the Father has sent me. The Father Himself who sent me has testified about me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. You don't have His word living in you because you don't believe Him whom He sent. You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, and these are they which testify about me, yet you will not come to me that you may have life. I don't receive glory from men, but I know you that you don't have God's love in yourselves. I have come in my Father's name, and you don't receive me. If another comes in His own name, you will receive Him. How can you believe who received glory from one another, and you don't seek the glory that comes from the only God? Don't think that I will accuse you

15:39to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses on whom you have set your hope. For if you believe Moses, you would believe me, for He wrote about me. But if you don't believe His writings, how will you believe my words?
