Day 85: Deuteronomy 4; Proverbs 24; John 21; Acts 1

0:00CHAPTER IV Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and to the ordinances which I teach you to do them, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers gives you. You shall not add to the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish from it, that you may keep the commandment of the Lord your God which I command you. Your eyes have seen what the Lord did because of Bale-Payor, for all the men who followed Bale-Payor, the Lord your God has destroyed them from the mist of you. But you who did cleave to the Lord your God are alive every one of you this day. Behold I have taught you statutes and ordinances, even as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should do so in the mist of the land where you go in to possess it. Keep there for and do them, for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who shall hear all these statutes and say, surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

1:02For what great nation is there, that has a God so near to them, as the Lord our God is whenever we call on Him. What great nation is there, that has statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day. Only take heed to yourself, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes saw, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life, that make them known to your children, and your children's children. The day that you stood before the Lord your God in horib, when the Lord said to me, assemble the people, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children. You came near and stood under the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the heart of the sky, with darkness cloud and thick darkness. The Lord spoke to you out of the mist of the fire. You heard the voice of words, but you saw no form, only you heard a voice.

2:03He declared to you his covenant which he commanded you to perform, even the ten commandments, and he wrote them on two tables of stone. The Lord commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and ordinances, that you might do them in the land where you go over to possess it. Take therefore good heed to yourselves, for you saw no manner of form on the day that the Lord spoke to you in horib out of the mist of the fire. Lest you corrupt yourselves, and make yourself an engraved image in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female, the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the sky, the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth. Lest you lift up your eyes to the sky, and when you see the sun in the moon in the stars, even all the host of the sky, you are drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole sky.

3:05But the Lord has taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to beat to him a people of inheritance, as at this day. Furthermore, the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, and swore that I should not go over the Jordan, and that I should not go into that good land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance. But I must die in this land, I must not go over the Jordan, but you shall go over and possess that good land. Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which he made with you, and make you an engraved image in the form of anything which the Lord your God has forbidden you. For the Lord your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God. When you shall father children, and children's children, and you shall have been long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make it engraved image in the form of anything, and shall do that which is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, to provoke him to anger. I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish

4:11from off the land where until you go over the Jordan to possess it, you shall not prolong your days on it, but shall be utterly destroyed. The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you shall be left few in number among the nations, where the Lord shall lead you away. There you shall serve God's, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear nor eat nor smell. But from there you shall seek the Lord your God, and you shall find him when you search after him with all your heart, and with all your soul. When you are in oppression, and all these things are come on you, in the latter days you shall return to the Lord your God, and listen to his voice. For the Lord your God is a merciful God, he will not fail you, neither destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them. For us now of the days that are past, which were before you, since today that God created man on the earth, and from the one end of the sky to the other, whether there has been any such thing,

5:15as this great thing is, or has been heard like it. Did ever a people hear the voice of God, speaking out of the mist of the fire, as you have heard, and live? Or has God tried to go and take him a nation, from the mist of another nation, by trials, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes. To you it was shown that you might know that the Lord he is God, there is none else besides him. Out of heaven he made you to hear his voice, that he might instruct you, and on earth he made you to see his great fire, and you heard his words out of the mist of the fire. Because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought you out with his presence, and with his great power out of Egypt, to drive out nations from before you greater and mightier

6:17to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as at this day. Know, therefore, this day, and lay it to your heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and on the earth beneath, there is none else. You shall keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land, which the Lord your God gives you forever. Then Moses set apart three cities beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise, that the man's layer might flee there, who kills his neighbor on a wears, and didn't hate him in time pass, and that fleeing to one of these cities he might live. Namely, Beeser in the wilderness, in the plain country for the Rubenites, and Ramath in Gilead for the Gatites, and Golan in Bashan for the Menasites. They took his land in possession, and the land of all King of Bashan, the two kings of the Amirites, who are beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise, from Arwer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, even to Mount Zion, the same as Hermann, and all the Aereba beyond the Jordan eastward, even to the sea of the Aereba under the slopes of Piska. For by wise guidance you wage your war and victory is in many advisers. Wisdom is too high for a fool, he doesn't open his mouth in the gate. One who plots to do evil will be called a schemer. The schemes of folly are sin, the mocker is detested by men. If you falter in the time of trouble, your strength is small. Rescue those who are being led away to death, indeed hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter. If you say, behold, we didn't know this, doesn't he who waive the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, doesn't he know it? Shall he not render to every man according to his work? My son, eat honey for it is good. The droppings of the honeycomb which are sweet to your taste.

9:27So you shall know wisdom to be to your soul. If you have found it, then there will be a reward. Your hope will not be cut off. Don't lay in weight wicked man against the habitation of the righteous. Don't destroy his resting place. For a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again. But the wicked are overthrown by calamity. Don't rejoice when your enemy falls. Don't let your heart be glad when he is overthrown. Last Yahweh see it, and it displeases him, and he turn away his wrath from him. Don't fret yourself because of evil doers, neither be envious of the wicked. For there will be no reward to the evil man, and the lamp of the wicked shall be snuffed out. My son, fear Yahweh in the King. Don't join those who are rebellious. For their calamity will rise suddenly the destruction from them both. Who knows? These also are things of the wise. To show partiality and

10:28judgment is not good. He who says to the wicked, you are righteous. People shall curse him and nation shall abhor him. But it will go well with those who can beg the guilty, and a rich blessing will come on them. An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips. Prepare your work outside, and get your fields ready, afterwards build your house. Don't be a witness against your neighbor without cause. Don't deceive with your lips. Don't say, I will do to him as he is done to me. I will render to the man according to his work. I went by the field of the sluggard by the vineyard of the man void of understanding. Behold, it was all grown over with thorns. Its surface was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. Then I saw and considered well, I saw and received instruction. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep.

11:28So shall your poverty come as a robber, and your want as an armed man. After these things, Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberius. He revealed himself this way. Simon Peter, Thomas, called Didymus, the Daniel of Cana and Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, I am going fishing. They told him, we are also coming with you. They immediately went out and entered into the boat. That night they caught nothing. But when they had already come, Jesus stood on the beach, yet the disciples didn't know that it was Jesus. Jesus therefore said to them, children, have you anything to eat? They answered him, no. He said to them, cast a net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some. They cast it, therefore, and now they weren't able to draw it in for the multitude of fish. That disciple, therefore, whom Jesus loved, said to Peter,

12:30it's the Lord. So when Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat around him for he was naked and threw himself into the sea. But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about 200 qubits away, dragging the net full of fish. So when they got out on the land, they saw a fire of coals there and fish laid on it in bread. Jesus said to them, bring some of the fish which you have just caught. Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land full of great fish, 153, and even though there were so many, the net wasn't torn. Jesus said to them, come and eat breakfast. None of the disciples dared inquire of him, who are you knowing that it was the Lord? Then Jesus came and took the bread, gave it to them, and the fish likewise. This is now the third time that Jesus was revealed to his disciples after he had risen from the dead. So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to

13:30Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me more than these? He said to him, yes, Lord, you know that I have affection for you. He said to him, feed my lambs. He said to him again a second time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me? He said to him, yes, Lord, you know that I have affection for you. He said to him, tend my sheep. He said to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you have affection for me? Peter was grieved because he asked him the third time, do you have affection for me? He said to him, Lord, you know everything. You know that I have affection for you. Jesus said to him, feed my sheep. Most assuredly, I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted to, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands and another will dress you and carry you where you don't want to go. Now, he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When he had said this, he said to him, follow me.

14:36Then Peter, turning around, saw a disciple following. This was the disciple whom Jesus sincerely loved. The one who had also leaned on Jesus breast at the supper and asked, Lord, who is going to betray you? Peter seeing him said to Jesus, Lord, what about this man? Jesus said to him, if I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you? You follow me. This saying, therefore, went out among the brothers that this disciple wouldn't die. Yet Jesus didn't say to him that he wouldn't die, but if I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you? This is the disciple who testifies about these things and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true. There are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself wouldn't have room for the books that would be written. The Book of Acts

15:38The first book I wrote theophilus concerned all that Jesus began both to do and to teach, until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. To these, he also showed himself alive after he suffered by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking about God's kingdom. Being assembled together with them, he charged them. Don't depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father which you heard from me. For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Therefore, when they had come together, they asked him, Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel? He said to them, it isn't for you to know times or seasons, which the Father has set within his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, into the uttermost parts of the earth. When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.

16:42While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold two men stood by them in white clothing, who also said, you men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky, will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky. Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away. When they had come in, they went up into the upper room where they were staying, that is Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James, the Son of Alphias, Simon, the Zealot, and Judas, the Son of James. All these with one accord continued steadfastly in prayer and supplication, along with the women, and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. In these days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and the number of names was about 120, and said, brothers, it was necessary that this scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those

17:45who took Jesus. For he was numbered with us, and received his portion in this ministry. Now this man obtained a field with the reward for his wickedness, and falling head long, his body burst open, and all his intestines gushed out. It became known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem that in their language that field was called a seldomah, that is, the field of blood. For it is written in the book of Psalms, let his habitation be made desolate, let no one dwell therein, and let another take his office. Of the men therefore who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John, to the day that he was received up from us, of these one must become a witness with us of his resurrection. They put forward, too, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surname justice, and Matthias. They prayed and said, you, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two you have chosen, to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away,

18:46that he might go to his own place. They drew lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
