We're on to something here with that three. I said that last night. I said, this is, uh, this is this is a way to do it. How about another one next weekend? All right. Let's do that. Actually, we do have another one. Yeah. This one was federally scheduled. Right. We didn't have any. I mean, we, you know, we're not going to get fed all it's right. We had to. Uh-huh. By law. Oh, but it really does make such a difference that extra day. And then going into a four day work week, which all of us are doing this time. Yep. But the kids have school today, right?

1:02I, yeah, I think so. I think so. Well, one of the men of one of the many grandchildren that I spend time with the so. Nope. We don't have school tomorrow. And I thought, oh, I wonder if they, maybe they do a four day thing. I remember how the kids used to try to try to sneak one by you. Yeah. Oh, no, we don't have school today. Oh, yes. Welcome in one and all. This is the day of the Mollie show. It's go time. It is the eighth day of September. It is raining now. However, the rain will, will dissipate as the day goes on. And then we're close to 80 degrees like tomorrow and Wednesday. I'm okay with that with a cleansing rain as you put it. That is fine. Saturday night or Sunday night after the concert. That night we were up very, very late. We were the ones stumbling around the Yeucasino into the at-we-y hours. Oh, that's right, you guys stay. Waiting for over and stuff. It was pouring sheets of rain and just, which was great.

2:04Cause nobody cared at that hour. Did you say, oh, sheet rain. Yes, did you win? Okay. Alright. Actually, I, well, here's what I'll tell the story, but the place was packed. And I don't know that the casino realized how many people were going to stay because it's a Sunday night. Yeah, but it was packed. And I'm the lines for everything. Even to get a soda. It was like 12 deep. I sat down. I sat my little keister down to that at a slot machine instantly up double my money. But the great ones do. Yeah, it was. It was fun. Super fun. Oh, it was one of the many highlights of the weekend. Yes, yes. So do you remember so Friday, Friday ends and I had home and I'm getting stuff done in all in preparation for our fantasy football draft. Do you remember the first fantasy football draft you were ever in? I will never forget it. April, I don't know if you're up and listening my partner, my friend, my co manager, we were on the phone and on it.

3:08And I was at the casino Friday for a while. I had a bunch of stuff I had to do first, but I was winning. And I was like, oh my god, I cannot believe I decided to have a draft. What am I doing? And I had to leave to go home to do it. How did yours turn out? Well, according to the charts and graphs, it turned it out turned out very well. Did you look at the grading thing after? No. And then the playoff percentage like the chant. This is all of their analytics. And that in mind, you know, I don't know that I checked yours to be honest. I can't get back in there. I don't know any of the passwords. But somebody who's in there, I think I did get the. Ram's defense. Yeah, I don't that's good. Okay. I have three quarterbacks accidentally. Accidentally. Well, I was it was confusing. It's scary. You don't. Here's the thing I didn't realize is that they put it all in you can you can filter it by their positions. Right. I didn't know that. So now I'm going down and then I'm putting people.

4:13I'm trying to put them in the queue and then somebody would take them when they did that the whole thing would read there wasn't alphabetical. It was how are you supposed to pick? How are you supposed to and then I look for somebody I go, okay. And we want so and so we need somebody from this team and then oh, somebody ticket. Yeah, that can be very frustrating. But I did pay attention to the by week situation. Okay, that's good. So that I didn't have a lot and we're like eight. We need an eight. We need a week eight. We need somebody who was not going to be well, we can have them. I was very happy with the draft because it went incredibly fast. It we blazed through that. I was kind of thinking, okay, well, this is, you know, usually is a couple hours and, you know, was an hour. It was about an hour. Yeah. Well, Quinn was auto drafting because he was working. And so he was taking up the whole 90 seconds. A lot of the time. He was getting the 90 seconds and then he was just letting it go. Well, that that means that he wasn't on auto drafted. He was trying to do it, but then just didn't get to it.

5:18If you if you hit the auto draft, it'll draft right the second it goes to you. Why is that? Oh, I thought it waited till you were time expired. Then it picked one for you. No, no more on that in a bit with my other draft. Kind of two fantasy football. The weekend was was was a bookend with the Friday was the David Monley league iron sharpens iron league. Yes. Yeah. So and you're in you're you're done your first fantasy football draft and you have a team. I have a team. The other thing I got a notification for my pick them thingy. The pick the you know, just pick the winners. And it says, Oh, you gave us the money. That's great. But you're not logged in. So that's a. Yes. You might want to log in. She's people. All of these log ins. It was fun. It was stressful though. I was. Yeah. I was sitting out on my back deck and I was like and I did have a conversation with D&D Steve. He sent me a whole chart thing.

6:20And then I called him and I said, what does this even mean? Like I need to talk to somebody. And then he said, all right, well, let me know. Is that why you picked the Rams defense because he knows the Rams guy. No, I know he is. But I also they're picked. They're like the number one pick to win the whole thing. Yeah. So April and I as co people decided that's what we would do for our team. The what was your plan team? And we said that actually the it is a perfect name for our team. Because what was our plan? Well, you're in now. Yeah, it's fun. It's fun. I'll have to look at the league. I don't even know who we play the first week or who I play who you play. I don't. Yeah. I don't know. It's going to be very exciting. April did check in. See, we were predicted to win. But think we need to trade some of our bench players and some of our team isn't going to play because they're hurt. Okay. Yes, Steve. Thank you, Steve, for your help. Very exciting. So that was very exciting. And then Saturday morning, we did me and my trusty loyal dog. She's trusty and loyal. She's my trusty loyal dog.

7:28We did our tide for the longest walk in the history of all walks. Wow. We did a super long route. And we saw coyote. You did. Yes. Yeah. It was a little a little scared. Now we did not see the coyote. But I saw the coyote from a distance. And then I'm kind of watching it. And he did kind of move a little closer to us. But no, no issues. That was the first of two coyote sighting over the weekend. Oh, man. I have been seeing while I hear them down at the golf course. And it's creepy, especially usually it's in the fall. And it'll be at night. And there's like a moon. And then they all. It's like, oh, it's very unsettling. So that was it was a very good start today. We I think we finished our walk by 10 o'clock. That's great. Yeah. The morning was good. And it was, you know, it's like almost two hours as far as the is the long route and everything. So then get home kind of regroup. And then Nadine came over. And then it was haircut time for humans and creatures.

8:37You're hiding your new hairdo. Well, I always wear hat. Anyway, I was I was full on full on display on TV. It was. But so we did. So I get a haircut first. And then it's time to give Maui a haircut. And so we get her in the get her in the tub. She was very good. I think she knows when it's haircut time because it's like, OK, come on up. Come on. And normally any time I tell her to come anywhere, she's right there. Yeah. But this time we had all the tools up there and everything. And we said, and I was trying to call her and she was just kind of looking at me. It's no. Come on. And then finally she, she came up and hopped in the tub. And so she got she. I think looks pretty good. She, she's groomed up. She a lot of hair came off. Yeah. So she's, she's good for a while. She needs a bath still. But I thought that since so much of her fur came off. That's like, well, it'll be all right.

9:37Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. They, they always seemed a way to like the reef, the oldest and they don't smell bad anymore. I don't know how they do that. Yeah. Because they're not meant to shower and get. I think about it. Like the dogs get bathed all the time. That's really. I don't think that's the normal thing. So that was great. And then Saturday was also kind of the start of the college football season. Hello. And so I'm and I had a few that was a very productive day on Saturday, but did all that stuff and had some store outings and everything. Well, then I think I'm just going to sit and relax and watch some exciting college football action. So I'm normally a person that is rooting for an upset. That's just just by nature. Unless I have a dog in the fight, which I kind of did when Michigan was taking on Western Michigan. Oh, okay. Michigan powerhouse. They've won more college football games than any college in the history of college football.

10:44But you know, my son goes there, go blue went there, go blue, everything's exciting. They fill the big house, 105,000 people. And they pay Western Michigan to come in and get slaughtered by that part of the deal. Like, well, you're a smaller school. You guys come over here and we'll play you in a game and then. And then we'll send you on your way with your money. Because you came to the big house and you got slaughtered Michigan was a 28 point favorite. Oh, wow. So again, my by nature, I'm rooting for an upset. I just wanted to be close. So I'm watching and this Western Michigan team is is winning. Like they're they're winning the game outright. It's going on and on and I'm thinking, okay, now enough. Let's not mess around guys. Let's take care of business. You're not going to cover the spread, of course. But you know, you don't lose exactly right.

11:48Not in the big house. Not with 105,000 people watching. That's right. So it goes all the way down to the final set. Have you heard about the controversy? Okay. I'm going to play the clip because I watched it all live in real time. Everything that happened. So Michigan is down 12 to 7. They have to throw a hail Mary to try and win the game. They throw it in the end zone. In complete games over Western Michigan has the stunner of all college football. Basically a 30 point underdog goes into Michigan and wins the game. But wait. There's one extra second left. What? So here is the dramatic end. Oh my god. Yeah, you got to you got to hear this. This is how and I watched it all happen. So it was a roller coaster of emotions. Here we go. Nine seconds remaining. Deep drop under one five second left. Under was going to toss it toward the end zone into the crowd.

12:51In out of bounds. Time expires. It's the attack from the Mac. Western Michigan. Since shock waves across the college football world and pulls out the weak one stunner. They take down the Wolverines. 12 to 7. The previous play is under further review. After review, there's one second remaining in the game. Third down. Deep drop. The unloaded towards the end zone into the car. 3G. You can't even touch down. A miracle of Michigan's stadium. So that's what happened. And the Michigan. Again, I can't Michigan is a 30 point favorite basically. Okay. They beat this team on some shaky stuff. Then they storm the field.

13:52Like they've, you know, won a national. They should be ashamed of themselves for being that close to 30 point underdog. That's right. So Bob. He says no Dave Western Michigan did win. Well, I think you can make a case for that. Yeah. Yeah. That was then there's all the controversy on all the social media about the, the, this secret second that they found and they said, well, this is the, they even had the, the, you know, they have a ref that's part of the broadcast crew, a former referee. And you've seen, well, no, if this is the actual footage, then there is no time left. And we don't know where they found this extra second. Then there are all the press conferences the day after where they, you know, all the, you know, big 10 officials are, well, now we have a special clock that has the tenths of seconds. And it was 0.06, which is closer to one. Therefore, we said, let's put a one second on here. So when, when they go back, there's just one second on the clock.

14:52Yes. And they get their playoff in one second. Yeah. How is there even time to, well, because everything is stopped. You know, so it's, you know, it starts with a snap of the ball. And then that's it. And they throw it down there. And then, and then. And so everything is fine. Oh, boy. But the thing is that like, you can't feel great about it because Western Michigan, though, is legit. I think they're, you know, they were pushing Michigan off the, and Michigan is one of those schools that, you know, they pay for all these players. I mean, they're, their, their budget is off the chart. So anyway, I know it stirred up a lot of, a lot of fire over the weekend. Well, Trevor says, rigged cheaters. That was some one second BS Kendra says they lost that game and they know it. Boom Michigan. I understand. I understand. Well, I didn't even see it. Now I'm.

15:53Yeah. Now I'm, I'm going to take to the streets. I'm going to tip over a car after the show. Sure. Why not? Well, got this is for Michigan. This is for Western Michigan. So that was very exciting. Okay. And then of course, all of the, the text going back and forth. My son wasn't even watching the game. It was one of those games where it was like, you know, well, they're just, it's the opening game of the season. There's a lot of teams that will play smaller schools for their first game. Just to sort of, you know, get into the flow of everything and pack their stadium, make money. And then they used, hey, these other schools to come in and sort of be the sacrificial lamb. Yeah. Including the Arizona State game, which Sam will be in to talk about when he comes in around eight, 30 or so. He went to the Arizona State game. They were playing, I believe it's Morgan State. And I think the final was 70 to three.

16:53And it was one of those games I had never heard of this before where they get to the fourth quarter. And it's so lopsided that they just said, Hey, are you guys okay if we shorten the game and everybody says yes. And so the game was actually not even a full game, but they just, that's how those games are supposed to be. Well, and I think you can make a case for it. You don't want anybody to get hurt. Yeah. It's, it's decided. There's no way they come back. So why not just wash our hands of it. So anyway, so that was the, that was some, some craziness of, you know, obviously Michigan did not cover the spread. Then we go to Sunday and Apple Cup. Oh, yeah. And with that, Cougars and Huskies. And remember, I boldly stated the Cougars were 24 and a half point underdogs and they're playing it, you know, at Husky Stadium. And first time ever that the, you know, Apple Cup is so early and all these things, but I watched almost all of that as well.

17:59Cougars hung tough. They hung very, very tough. They actually had a chance to make it a game. They lost by 10 or for it. They lost by 14. But, you know, and there's more. They covered the spread. Oh, they did cover the. Yeah, they covered the cover got Cougars cover. Yeah, the Cougars. Oh, right. Yeah, they were 24 point underdog. Right. But so if you just bet, if you bet the Huskies, then that they didn't. They would have had to win by 24, right? Right. Right. Right to cover the point. So. Some exciting football action. Yeah. So that was, that was, so that was Sunday. And then that also was another fantasy football draft. Oh, boy. So, so I'm getting ready for, for that. My second fantasy football draft. Yeah. And this is the league that I've been in for 10 years. It's the 10th anniversary of our league.

19:00And, and it started at five. But we wanted to leave to go to Northern Quest by a little after six. Uh-huh. To be there for the Earth, Wind and Fire concert. Or on that in a bit. Yeah. So I'm on the computer and I'm drafting and everything. And then I thought, well, let me switch it over to my phone because I may need to draft on my phone if we're in route. Because this draft took a little longer. It's like people were taking longer to make their picks and everything. So we get to about the 13th round and I switch over. And then it, when you switch over on to your phone, it shuts off your computer. So then it's like, oh, wait a second. I don't want to do that yet. So then I, you know, so it's kind of a weird deal. So then I was one of the auto draft guys. So for the last three picks of my other league, I was on auto draft as we headed out to Northern Quest. How did it turn out though? How's your team there? Uh, it's okay. According to the, to the ESPN, I have, like I had an A plus on the first draft.

20:06And then a C grade for the second draft. Who did your defense? For, let's see. Uh, I need to check on that. I need April to update. We're up against Trevor's team, the hard ass rehootlims. That's a great name. Yeah. That is, but I don't remember what how we score. I, she can log in there because we are both logged in. But then only one manager can like do the picking. Okay. So she can see our team and stuff, but. Oh, it's very exciting. It is very exciting. So, and then we get out to, uh, to Northern Quest and, uh, both Nadine and I were both starving. Yeah. And, and the food, I know it was like, it was like sandwiches and like, uh, potato salad, macaron salad, uh, you know, broccoli salad. Uh, it was so good. Man, I went a little crazy. I saw, I saw you guys come in and then I saw some of the food being consumed while you were in line.

21:10I saw like you were standing at the end of the line and you were getting stuff, but then I was like, oh, yeah, I was like, well, there's, oh, he's already eating. Don't bother him. It was good. Oh, it's very good. So I'm assuming like, oh, well, just hear some raps and sandwiches, but then you get into it and their desserts were really good too. And, um, and I love, we, we, uh, we actually, uh, picked up the parkers. So I, so I drive on the way there and then Nadine can drive everybody back. Sure. Yeah. So, uh, so we, we get there. We, we take it all in. I thought the show was everything that I wanted it to be, you know, um, I know the guys can't really hit some of the notes, uh, like they used to, but I give them a pass for that. I, I loved it. I loved it too. I love their style. They are. How old are those guys? Well, Phillip Bailey is 75. Wow. Yeah. And then I think the other, there were three original members in, yeah, that were there at the, yeah.

22:10That's crazy. So that's super cool. And they just look so great too. And they're so like, they just have this swagger about them that it's like, and they move. I like when they do the little moves together and stuff. It was, it was, it was super fun. And luckily, um, oh, that was anything. So I'm wearing pants, which I haven't worn pants in forever. Yeah. So I'm wearing pants. And then last minute decision, I decide to bring a pullover or a hoodie. And I think, well, I'm not going to need this, but I'll just bring it just in case. And then as soon as we got out of the car in the parking right, oh, I'm going to bring, I'm going to wear that hoodie. It was a little chilly, especially with the wind coming through. And we were, while we were eating, it was like, oh, man, I am so glad that I have this because I was cold. Then we get upstairs and they have the heaters on. And the heater was absolutely fantastic. That became kind of the, kind of the central point of our little gathering.

23:10Some of us didn't realize there would be a heater upstairs. And, and I remember Mary, because I was with my friend Mary. She said, we got to dress warm because we had the whole Brandy Carlyle experience where we had to leave the show early. We were so uncomfortably cold. Well, I had a sweatshirt and I had a big sweater that I brought. She had kind of a sweater and, you know, but nothing, you know, we had long pants on. Sitting and eating, the wind was whipping through. It was so cold that we both went and bought sweatshirt. Oh, that's right. Yeah. And thinking, okay, and I will say this, having the sweatshirt, all the difference in the world. I'm fine. My Ken refuses to wear long pants until after Labor Day. So he's in his shorts and a vest. He has a heated vest, though. I saw the heated vest, yeah. Pretty cool. So then we get upstairs and there's the heater. And at one point, I'm like, oh, a little hot. Now I got my $75 sweatshirt on. Here's a crazy thing, too, is that they want tips.

24:10Like when you buy a swag, they turn the thing to you and it says, and you got to do something. So I'm like, why am I giving you $7? I don't know how this works. I just hope the workers get it. I hope that it goes to them. But I'm sure later on, they're like, and do you see how many sweatshirts we have? Yeah. Awesome. It probably works out great for them when they, when you don't know the weather situation. But you know, as the night went on, it got way better. The wind died down and I, I mean, it's crazy as it sounds. I think it got warmer as the night went on. Oh, it totally did. It totally did. By the time we were leaving, it was beautiful. It was perfect night. Once the wind stopped, the temperature itself was fine. It was the wind that was making it. So it was uncomfortable. But then with the heater and then we're up dancing and stuff. And I'd like to apologize for your friend Kevin Parker and my boyfriend Ken. Because they were on you like glue. Yes, they were. Actually, it was, they were, the way I was about to realize they were playing and working with them. Really is so important.

25:12Despite this, I mean, sorry, first of all, for my friends based on Werewolf Anya David Gray. We discussed about the wet weather neighborhood in the Air. is why he's having a good time in Kevin Parker and my boyfriend won't stop, what were they doing? Harassing. Well, they were like, you know, slightly were like touching my back. And it was like, I think they were trying to make me think that it was Nadine and not them. Because Nadine was doing that too. And it's like, but then I would feel like three hands on me. It's like, I know this is, something's not right here. And it's like, guys, just, you know, and it was funny for the first few times. But then it was just, okay, guys, plus. And then they were like almost like doing the, they were dancing on a cute way. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I did. I said a couple of times. You guys knock it off like this.

26:14Yeah, you gave them a stern warning. I did. I said, leave them alone. Leave them alone. But we had a blast. Yeah. And even, and the, you know, the parkers, I think Carrie said, I, I love this way more than I thought I would. That was so great. And, you know, they, they do, they got a ton of hits. It was all fun music. So. I was telling her about when Mary and I saw them in LA with all that in the whole Eagles thing. And that they were one of our favorite things of that whole festival. Yeah. That they were brought to fun. And when we saw them in Seattle with Chicago, they far outshined because of the kind of show they do. And because it was a huge arena thing, they were able to, it hit the every corner, right? Where Chicago, for some reason, it fell flat in that setting, but we loved Earth Wind and Fire and that. Yeah. They're, they're fun. They don't have to entertain. And it was great. And the show ended. What time was this show done? It was, it was like nine.

27:15Yeah, nine, little after nine. Yeah. Perfect. And then that was it first, but I know you guys went back in. Be sure as hell did. We were all tell the story in a minute. There's a little bit of a debacle. I felt like an amateur in that I bought a sweatshirt when I didn't need to. And then we opted for an Uber to go home. But the Uber situation at Northern Quest is interesting because they don't pick you up at the main entrance. If you call an Uber there, you would think, Valley, main valley. We're telling this gal, we're at the main valley. It is pouring sheets of rain at this point. It's freezing and we're standing outside. Well, she's at the other kids' quest like near BNB. That's where they, I think that's where they send Uber's valleys closed completely. But there's still that driveway. And Ken is communicating with her and back and forth and back and forth. And he's talking to her. And she's like, I don't, not from here. I don't know. And we're like, she was very nice, but we finally get in the car.

28:16And she's like, I'm just not from around here. And we're like, oh, we're from Deer Park. Like, what's that from around here? That is from, actually. But it's pouring down rain and she's driving like 30 miles an hour and she's got a line of cars behind her. And it was almost like, what, how long did you guys stay? Well, we tried to leave at midnight. And it was like one, it was almost, we didn't get home till after one. It took so long to get the Uber. And then she was driving so slowly. And so I'm looking behind and I see the line of cars and their big trucks and the lights are flashing on us. And I'm thinking, oh my god, it's like a scene out of dual or something. And I thought, lady, you got to press on the gas. So once you make the left to go past the college, all of them. Bleh! Like, and they do the look over. Yes, they call us that. I know those situations. We're in no position, Bakers. We're just like, we can't drive. We don't have a car here. We're loopy. So we got home late. It was after one o'clock.

29:17Yeah, that's it. It was fun. We had fun. Party all night long. Yes, I could not believe how late we stayed out. Because last night we went to bed at 810. And I got in bed. I said, this is the greatest thing ever. Oh my god, we're in bed. 810. It was fun. But the place was packed. And I just think they, I think they underestimated how many people would stick around. And as far as I'm concerned. Well, I think they probably, when the concert schedule came out, it's like, oh, it's a Sunday night. I don't know. And oh, it's the Sunday before Labor Day. That's almost, that's a weekend night. And then more people jumped in. Yeah. Yeah. It was a show. It was everything that I told everybody the same thing. It's like, I was going to like it no matter what. Yeah. I mean, even if it was, if everybody said it was terrible, I would find a way to like it. But it worked. They were, they, you know, it's just fun music. It's just, you're paying for those wonderful memories. Yeah. So loved, loved it all.

30:18Me too. That was a fun night. And then more music. Did you do more music yesterday? How did it? Didn't you go to Greenbluff? Yes, we did. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I'm trying to think of yesterday, uh, the start of the day. Oh, yesterday was the only day that Maui did not get a walk. Because it was raining in the morning. Yeah. It was kind of raining and everything. And our plan was that we were going to go to Greenbluff. And then go to the Comstock, the, uh, Spokane Symphony, you know, which is kind of a tradition. But then, uh, Nadine sends me the thing. They had postponed the Spokane Symphony in the park thing. They moved it to tonight. Oh, really? Yeah, because of, because of weather situations. Okay. So that kind of opened up the day a little bit. So, uh, so she comes over and we, we get everything figured out. And then I, I'm driving to Greenbluff and then she's going to drive back.

31:20And, and she said, uh, just in case you want to have some wine and I thought, well, they have wine. I'm going to drink it. Of course. That's what we're going to do. So we, we get out there and, uh, we get a great apartment spot. We got there probably around four. How late did they go last night? They go, they went to seven. Okay. Maybe it's a little before we got there. Yeah. So, kind of leaving. So we got a great parking spot. This, this deal that they did up at Greenbluff, our friends, uh, Beck's, harvest house, that, they had to hit a home run with the stuff. Stopped on the bluff. Oh, it was so great. It was just right when we got there, they had all the, uh, the food on one side. So we kind of scoped it all out. Uh, truth be told, we had six different food things. Nice. Because they were doing smaller portions. Some of them, some of them were smaller portions, but not all of them. Like I had the Italian New York style sausage. Oh my God.

32:20Uh, that was the full portion. Uh, and I got 99% of that. Then they had the rice bowls. Uh, we also had, um, uh, I got like a macaroni and cheese. They had the, the daddy mat people there. Uh, we had two different desserts. They, oh, it's so great. And then our, uh, our friends Kim and Todd, that, you know, they, they're the guys that you created this whole thing. Yeah. And it was their first one ever. They went into it kind of nervous. You know, they were on our show, back late July. And then we ran the interview on Friday, which is for people that, hey, if you're thinking about doing something, well, we, um, we're chatting with them and they're telling us the story of, you know, how it all came together. They said on Saturday, it was completely full. And they, you know, they had live music going on the whole time. Yeah. And they said we were kind of standing on the hillside looking down, seeing all the people there, seeing the music, uh, beautiful weather.

33:22And they said, we, we almost started to cry. Oh, they were so happy. Then they were, they were thrilled with the outcome. It's so much work that they, they are hard workers anyway. And they sort of put, now they have, they said, usually this labor day is their rest day, their rest before the big season starts. Well, now they'll go into their high season. It was, it was fantastic. So and I, and we've already pledged that we're going to pick a day next year, either the Saturday or the Sunday or maybe the Monday. I don't know what, one of those days and we'll make a full day of it. We'll go out there early and yeah, when we were like sitting on a hay bale, there's live music going. We had had our foot. We had the pumpkin donuts. I brought some of those in. I can't eat those up. And just, and just kind of taking it all in. It was absolutely fantastic. And they, I was, I'm the weather held out for them. Okay. It was great. Yeah. They had, there was one, I guess where they are and just the, the sort of the

34:24terrain that it can, there's stretches of time where like, window come through. And they said that on one of their, they call it the beer patio or the, what do they call it? The beer. It had a catchy name. But anyway, that the wind came through and one of the umbrellas took off. Oh, they said, oh, we were driving up and we saw one of our own umbrellas flying by, but, but it was very, very short lived. I mean, there was, you know, maybe a couple sprinkles here and there, but because it was, it was iffy. It was off and all. Yeah. And then I think about even when they're not, when it, because of the way it poured on Sunday night that you wake up to just saturated everything you wonder about that too. But that's a great. Well, it was so great. I'm sure I didn't make it up there. They were just, it was just so, so great to talk to them. And then saw Melinda, you know, the, we always see her on Thursdays. Oh, yeah. And KHQ had had the, they were at backs doing part of the show.

35:27On Friday morning. So people, so KHQ had a big involvement. They were very happy, but I said, oh, KHQ did a great job and covering this and that helped more people come out. I told them about our re running of the interview and everything. So it was a lot of happy people. Good. Super cool. And then lost in all that. Not only is there live music and the food and all that kind of stuff. But then they have all their fruits and vegetables for sale. Nadine bought a giant box of peaches. And then a half of a watermelon. They had all kinds. They had pairs and apples and everything there. There was some plums that Noah, because Noah, yeah, he was out there on Friday. Yeah, Noah, yeah. And he brought the plums in. And then actually at first they took a bite. He said, it's a little bitter. And then as I got into it, it was like, oh, this is actually really delicious. Now they did do a lot of coverage of that. It was super cool. And then so then after, you know, take it in a lot of food in a short amount of time.

36:30It was very good. All the food was fantastic. It was there's a little wine stand. And I said, well, I have some wine and we go over there and it's Mary Hill. Our friends at Mary Hill were, they kind of jumped in on this thing. And so they'll be a part of it as well moving forward. They said the only thing they said, the only thing is we probably should have had more food. And I told them I said, you will have no problem because everybody's going to want to be a part of this thing next year. It was sensational. Why would they want more food? Just more, just just for because they had so many people. And just the, you know, when we were there, we, we weighed, I mean, there was maybe two deep or three deep on some of the food things. But I guess Saturday, you know, they had the lots of people and everything. So, but that's, you know, it was their first year. So they're going to, it'll be even better next year. And it was great this year. Yeah. So I was so happy for that.

37:31Yeah, it was, that was a very, very nice deal. So we took that all in and then perfect timing because on the way home, Nadine is driving now. After I had had my third or fourth, a couple of wine, you know, as one would do its vacation. Yeah, it's a, but then it starts raining on the, on the way home. And then by the time we got home, it was like, okay, this is, this is real rain. It was good that they canceled the other thing. The symphony thing or whatever. Yes. Because they moved it. Right. Yeah. The rain was just, it was, I liked it. But I was feeling for all the people. It's still, well, we had our friends who were out the gorge and we're getting videos from them. Oh, yeah. I think it was yesterday morning. I can't remember which one, maybe it was Sunday morning, them under the, oning with a fire going. It was pouring down rain. And so I don't know how the Dave Matthews. I don't know how the showtime went for them. But I was thinking if we had so much rain Sunday night at midnight,

38:37they had to have had it at 10 on the, you know, a couple hours previous. So I'm just wondering how that all worked out for them. They were sending me pictures and you would love it here. I'm like, I'm so happy for you. Good for you guys. They loved it. So that's good. So that's a, yeah, a lot of music and food, a lot of food. Oh, boy, a lot of food. And football and football. Controversial football. Yes. Well, I left here and I had said I want to go home and get the doggy out on a walk early. So I did that ran home, got her on a walk. Then I had to go to the valley and meet up with some young people who needed stuff from our safety net storage. Now I'm out the valley. Then got this window, the window. I know what happened when there's windows and when in the world, if I had to make a plan to get home by six o'clock for drafting fantasy football draft. So I had out west and it's going, it's going well.

39:37I'm having a good time. All the machines are doing all the things that I like them to do. And I'm not winning millions, but I'm not losing and I'm very, very happy. It's probably good that I had a hard out because I would have stayed and I would have sometimes your luck changes. But I, so I grabbed some food there thinking, I'm not going to have time to cook. I got to be home for the draft. What'd you get? What kind of food you get? Oh, just some like the Asian food stuff. So, so I get home and, uh, and I get April on the phone. So now we're on speaker phone. And at first I call D&D Steve. He sends me a whole sheet of stuff, which I don't know all these people, but which it was, it was great. So, uh, then I get her on the phone. Then we're in and it does that. And it starts doing the thing about your, uh, so it took me about four rounds to get into the groove of things and to see how it was going to go. And because it was the snake. So it went this way, then back this way. So anyway, we were, we were, uh, we were, you know, looking at pictures of the guys and we're looking at their outfits and we're looking, you know, we're deciding.

40:39I think that she had, I think her husband was in the background talking sense. But we, she knew, she knew way more. She had, she had done some research and she, um, yeah. So, uh, anyway, it was, it was very fun. And it went faster than I thought it was for sure. And then I don't know what I don't remember even when I watched on TV. I was in bed pretty early Friday night. I was, I was like, this is going to be great. I'm going to, because Saturday morning was an early morning up, uh, going, gathering things, doing things and then I had it to court of lane to see my mom. And I asked her if she would help me build these, you know, when you do an auction, you got to build all the baskets for the style and oxygen. And my mom's really good at that. So I had all this stuff and she had stuff. And so I get there and we spent several hours building these baskets, which was great. It was fun. It was, I had not been to my mom's house since my aunt Margaret's birthday in March. Oh my gosh. That's crazy. That's great for you. Well, uh, we, the six months, I know.

41:42We talk three times a day and she, but she comes to town a lot. She'll stay at Kent. And when we go to court of lane, we go stay at the, at the RV place and she comes in. So I see her, but it's hadn't been there. It was a weird thing. Anyway, the house is, it's always, it's always great to see the house and everything. So we had a good time. My brother came in. He made us dinner and then we showed our little movie to his girlfriend, Tiffany Shen, scene it yet. So we got, she, she was a good audience. It was great. So that gave us a little boost because you know, we're, we have all of our festival stuff. Now all of it is entered. Now we just wait to see if we get accepted. So it's all very exciting. So we did that and we stayed up a little bit late. Well, a little bit later and you know, I haven't been having the bad idea of urban. I've been sticking to like the clear liquid stuff and went in Rome and it's my mom. Bad idea, bourbon. Here it comes. The problem with it is not that it, it's, it's very sugary. And so the sleep is a little bit, you know, sleep as well.

42:44And we didn't have a lot. We were in federally, but I just didn't sleep as well as I could have. So I woke up Sunday just a little, little out of it entire. But I felt good because we got so much accomplished. So then it's time to go home and meet up with my son and the girls. And so I got to see. So this is Sunday day before the. Yes. So I got to see my mom and my brother. I got to see all of the grandkids and my son and Ken and my friend Mary. And I got to see. It was, it was, it was this whole three day weekend thing you guys. We need to, we need to pass a law. Pass a law. I am three day weekends on. So yeah, so this is Sunday before the concert. We go and we spend the afternoon together, which was great. And then it's time to get ready for the concert. So Mary picks us up and then her brother met us there. So we're thinking, okay, we'll see, we'll see if we want to stay afterwards.

43:45And I said, because I had taken a nap, I was, I was a little tired on Sunday. And I said, I don't know if I'm in a one-a-stay. But usually I don't. You want to have the option though. I want to have the option. I said, what do you think if, if we decide to stay that maybe we just Uber home later? And, and so he said, we'll see, we'll let's see how you feel. And I knew what it was only 10 after nine. Yeah. It said, I'm staying. And so I send Mary home, I hear my switcher and my sweater that I was there for the transfer. And then we walked Mary to the, to the parking garage. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So she left us behind and it was so fun because it was, but it was very, very crowded and people were, it was like a long lines for drinks and stuff. I just think that they just didn't think that there'd be that many people. I don't know. But I got to play all my phone machines. And so then Ken sat with me for a while and then he said, well, I'm going to go play something. So I come across him and a bunch of young guys, they're playing roulette. And so I came up and I said, now, how are you doing?

44:45I said, are you want to play more than the young guy goes? Let him stay. I'll buy you a drink. And I said, well, and I showed the ticket I had. He goes, no, you buy me a drink. Wait a second. I said, things are going well. I said, so I, I said, you, I went and got him another drink and I said, well, stay for a little while, which was good. It was fine. But then the uber thing happened. So he calls the uber. And I just in the back of my mind, I thought I said, I think you have to go to the other side of the casino for this. I just feel like you do. We were the only ones out there. Valley is closed. It's pouring down rain. Occasionally, somebody would come out and meet somebody would be picking them up. But we're just standing there like losers. And he's in shorts and Birkenstock. Right. And I've got my flip flops on and no jacket now because I've handed everything off. And he's calling her and talking to her. So finally, it's decided. Have her stay there. So now we marked ourselves back across the casino. We had to go all the way to the other side. And me, I'm thinking, I could have been gambling this whole time.

45:46Like, what is going on? It could have been doing this. But finally, get her. And she was very nice, but not, you know, didn't instill a whole lot of confidence. But it's raining and it's dark and it's the back way. And she's inching us home. And I've never had it take that long to get home. It's 12 minutes door to door from my house to the casino. 14 tops. This was like 23 minutes. Seriously. She was just like, and her, her windshield wipers are going, and I'm like, oh my God, there's people. This is a nightmare. So anyway, we get home and then we stayed up for a little bit, but couldn't really sleep in very much yesterday. And then I spent the day with Alex. We went to see the coyote versus acne. Oh, I love it. Oh, good. And the place was packed. Every seat was taken. It was a 135 showing yesterday at North Town. And the whole place was packed. And we were, there was a lady next to me, a little younger than I was. She was by herself, just one seat. You know, I could tell when I reserved the seats that it was one seat.

46:47And there were the only two really good seats left when we reserved. And I thought, who is that person? I thought it's going to be some guy like, you know, but no, she was, so she and I were both giggling at the same stuff. And Alex would look at me like, why is that funny? Like, because it's old school and it's bugs bunny. And he is the informant. Like that's funny. But remember, um, Dr. Laurie, remember, oh, he had the big eyes and he took like, he, oh, this and this. He's, he was like the one of the main of characters that were, you know, part of the deal. But it was really clever. I liked it a lot. It was funny. Probably one that I will see. I won't, I won't see it at the theater. But when it comes to a streaming thing, yeah. And there's this lady. She's in the season, euphoria. And her whole thing is that she's almost like, she's a bad actress where she's very, very, uh, monotone. And that's how she is in everything. And she's in it. And she's, she's pretty funny. It's a cast of people that I've never seen before.

47:48Just besides Will or not or he will for tape. I loved it. So we went there. I ate way too much popcorn. I was hungry. I went in hungry. I ate a bunch of popcorn and, uh, I woke up feeling very puffy. Puffy. Salty. Puffy. Um, so we got him home and then Ken came over and then we had some dinner and we did a rewatch of Liar Liar. The Jim Carey movie. Yep. He is exhausting. I was thinking about it. It's a lot of Jim Carey on that. What it would be like to, they have some bloopers after the movie that run under the thing. And I said that it would be exhausting to do a film with him. I would imagine you'd just be like, okay. Bring it down like settle. This is enough with you already. But it was funny. And then we were in bed at eight. I was watching Seinfeld. Oh, I think it was the big hands one where she has the man hand.

48:50Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. But so I got, yeah, so. I got to see all those people that got stuff done for the auction, which was really good. Went to a concert, went to a movie, saw the kids. The doggy only got one walk though. She was. She was because I got Saturday morning. I was up early. Oh, and then our friend, Jin, who is one of our really good listeners, she and her wife have a new puppy. And I had her baseball mitt. And I said, well, I'm going to bring the baseball mitt by and can I, I want to get hands on that puppy. And so I got hands on the, her name is Frankie blue eyes. He's so cute. And I was just. It's not a kids. Yeah. So that I get to try. I know, I know. And then, but then I get home and the dog and my dog is like not only is she not getting walk, but I speak of their two dogs. And she's very upset by that. So I had to take her out to the valley to, um, to Ken's house to drop her off.

49:51And she got a big walk there. So he took her for a walk. That anyway, it was a great weekend. It was a wonderful weekend. Yes. Yes. There was one other thing that happened. So right before the draft on Sunday. Yes. Uh, and this is right before, you know, Sunday night is the earth when in fire concert in the quest. So getting ready for the draft, the dog start going crazy. Uh-oh. And then, what is going on? And I think, oh, I'll bet it's somebody out getting books from the book library. Oh, sure. Because it's the, the lot of activity with the book library. So I look out there and I see this guy. Uh, and the whole library thing has crumbled to the ground. What? Like it's all like it's just the roof is off. And he's trying to, you know, fix it. And I'm kind of watching this through the window. And I thought, oh, no. And then I, but then the draft is starting. Like it's like it's happening.

50:51It's like, okay. So I tell my daughter, she was, she was, she was getting ready to go to the concert too. Yeah. So I said, oh, the, the something happened with the library thing. But let me get this draft started. And then I'll be able to break away. Well, I go back to the computer within two minutes. There's a doorbell ring. Oh, no. And it's the guy. And I've seen the guy in the neighborhood. He lives there. He's, he's walking around everything. And he says, hey, I am so sorry. I was trying, I, you know, had a, had a book. I was closing the, um, your little library thing. And it just, it just, it just caved in. And so I said, oh, I, I said, I saw that. I said, don't worry. I said, I know it might have been a little shaky or whatever. And I'll, I'll figure all this out. He was super apologic, super nice guy. So then he leaves, I go back to the computer. And then I'm like making a pic. And then I go out there to see the remains of this, you know, the little, you know, library house.

51:52Did you know those of it? Uh, no. Dang it. So I get out there. And what has happened is the, there were so many books in the thing. Oh, it was so heavy. Oh. So I pick up all the debris. It was very sad. Um, and I carry that in while I'm making picks. I'm like, my thing is the done it. Oh, geez. I got to make a pic. And then I was like, you know, running back. So I bring it all in. It's sitting in the, in the living room. We're going, it will be rebuilt. We're going to, you know, give it the support that it needs. So the whole thing just fell apart. Well, the, the top part, the base is rock solid. Yeah. So what we are, Nadine did. Uh, you were in charge of building the house, right? Yes. But the house is, the house was, it was just, it was just too heavy.

52:53So, and I think you just, it just tumbled. But anyway, the base is rock solid. So we need, we need more support. Um, you know, like two by fours. And then the support the sides of the house, right? Oh, no, the, the flat part to hold that down because that was, that was a bit wobbly. That was the part where when it was dark, she's under there with the nails. And the nails that they give you are, they're little tiny nails. It was like, I don't know how that's going to work anyway. Anyway, everything will be fine. But now in front of the house is just a base with a thing sticking up. And some of the little flowers on the bottom. Everything will be fine. Maybe we need to limit, you need to say like, you know, 20 book limit or something. Yeah. So that were they books that Christie had put in or that people? No, it's, it, that, that little library, high activity. Man. Yeah, there was books coming and going. In fact, there was two of the same book.

53:53Um, you know, it's, they're, and they're all inside now. But it was heavy. I mean, I had to, I brought in the other pieces. And then I had to really carry that whole base or the whole, you know, the little house part. A lot of books. Yeah. But I don't know if it was made for, for that much weight. Yeah, maybe not. Anyway, everything will be fine. So that was the, that was a minor tragedy of the, of the weekend. Other than that, and then that everything's fine. I have one little minor tragedy that happened as well. But it's not, it, my, Alex was playing with my erotag on my keychain. Oh, yeah. And somehow it was in the car. He flipped it off of the thing. And it fell on the side. But there's paneling. Like there's the carpet. And it slipped in under that. So it's now in the body of my car somewhere. It's just in there. And I don't know. So now anytime I take, I go anywhere away.

54:56It says your keys have been left behind. Well, no, they're in, it's in the thing. So I, I don't know how I'm going to get it. You almost have to disassemble the floor. It, it, it, it, it, it. Oh, that is weird. Yeah. I need like a strong magnet. And it made me think of the acme stuff from the coyote versus acme. Because a lot of magnets and a lot of things that Wiley Coyote tries. The movie has heart too. You kind of like, oh, it's, he doesn't, I don't think even knows why he wants the roadrunner so badly. Like it, it's, it's, it's obsessed with it. It's the way they did the cartoons and the people together. Things have come a long way since what was the one that they did, remember years ago, Roger Rabbit. Oh, who framed Roger Rabbit? Yeah. This one, it's seamless. You just believe that these cartoons, because it's half cartoon rolled off regular. The judge has to pick which gavel he wants to use. The regular one or the cartoon one. And then, and then he picks a cartoon when it goes. It was funny.

55:58I like that. Sorry about your little library. Well, the library came crashing down. Yeah. And it couldn't have been, I mean, it's never a good time for your library to crash. But that was like, oh, geez, what am I going to do? Not during draft time. Yeah. But everything turned out fine. Yes. All right. We have a, we have a full day on the shoot today. We have two different guests that will be coming in. One is bringing, is today the pig day tomorrow is the pig day. Today we're going to talk about the fair though. And we're going to, I think we're going to have a way for you to win some fair tickets too. Yep. And the fair starts Friday. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So we'll talk about that. And then our friend, John Moroni from New America talking about 401Ks. Yes. Yeah. We're the experts on those. As we burst into laughter. So we will look forward to that. Sam Adams is going to be coming in. We're going to be coming in. We got to catch up on his weekend from, it's trip to Arizona. We'll play the showdown at eight o'clock. 56:59And we have a couple of cool stories, including the number one beer in America. Yep. Could it be the least tastiest beer? From the shocking results. Okay. It could be. And then only us old schoolers are going to remember this. There used to be a time when you would take your friend to the airport and you could go all the way to the gate. Yeah. Remember those days? Of course. They're coming back. The TSA has come. They have a special thing. Right now they're testing it in, I think, six or eight different airports. But it could be a thing again. That I love that. Also, if you were ever flying through like sometimes we would fly through Chicago to get here from Nashville and Michael Jimmy would come to the airport, bring our favorite apple pancake thing and sit with us. While we were out in our Leo. I totally remember those days. Yeah. Friends that would, you know, they would just on a fly through. Oh, you're in Denver? Come on over. Yeah. So anyway, that's very exciting. And then we present to you the most forgotten items left in hotel rooms.

58:04Some of them are icky home. One of them is making the top five sex toys. It says right here. No, it says right here. And we'll run through the complete list of all the ones left behind and show you photos. And who last used them? Just kidding. And their smiles. So those are a few of the things that we will get to. What do you think about that? There I said it. Yeah, I'm going to challenge me on it if I want. I love that. I appreciate it. And this is a 75th year of the Fair. So this is a big big deal. Yeah, very exciting. What's new this year? Oh my gosh, so much. I'm going to put you right up on it. Yeah, yeah, I made it as a bite into that. There you go. Perfect. One thing we do is we love to shake up our entertainment around the ground. So we're bringing in a lot of new, you know, we're going to call them free attractions. Right. Once you're in the game, bought that ticket. We want you to turn every direction and run into something fun and exciting. Yeah. So we have an off-axis BMX stunt show. We have a canine circus. A canine circus. Yeah. A goddess. Yeah. A Pirates and Parrots show. Pirates and parents. Pirates and parents. We have a lot of fun for you.

1:00:05But only one will survive pirates and parents. A butterfly. Yeah. Yeah. So you'll be able to go into this really cool space and interact with butterflies. Oh. You know, new entertainment on some of our smaller stages around local bands that we're featuring. Our favorite hypnotist, Mark. He tried to retire for one year, but he's back. Oh, good. So he's always super popular in the evenings are speak easy. We've grown the footprint. I mean, it's supposed to be our best kept secret. But lots of people found it last year. I heard it was a very big hit. It was. It was. So making that footprint larger, more offerings on the cocktails and live music on Friday and Saturdays. We really want to be kind of like that piano, sing along. Sure. So come check that out. So it'll start Friday. And then it'll run through the following Sunday, the 10 day run of the fair.

1:03:12Track the donkey and some of their other farm family friends. Well, I'm looking here at the under the Spokane Fair calm. It's the free fair fun. So these are tips and tricks. This is great to know because you can go on the website and it has all the different things that are included that you can do that are just a free bar and yard races. Yeah. It looks to me. It looks to me. This is brought to by Ziggy's that there are ducks racing. Is that is that what's part of the happening like real ducks? Real ducks. Yeah. Barney races, barney, our races all kind of barney stuff. All right. Can you bat on it? Secretly, maybe. Then I see the there's like Hula, there's a stunt show that the butterfly thing that looks really cool. And you have a lot going on this year. And then there's the hypnotist. Oh, yes. Mm-hmm.

1:04:12Yeah, canine circus. I'm that I'm ahead to the canine circus. And then where is the speak easy if you're we're asking for friends because of course we you know if we have anybody who needs to know. So I would say if you're standing in the middle of food row. It will be to the north behind the north stage where you're going to see the hypnotist the canine circus. Okay. And all of those attractions. It's back in that area. Okay. All right. And then to get tickets, pay at the doors. Should you order ahead what's the best thing to do? Well, I would plan ahead. You've got three days this week to still pick up discount tickets. Okay. So you can come by the fairgrounds 10 to 6 today, tomorrow, Thursday. Okay. Our box office is open. No handling fees. You're going to be able to get those preseason rates on your tickets. And we just try to create a peaceful experience for our fair guests. We provide a number of free activities, a lot of arts and crafts hands on. We create a quiet zone. Our partners at Providence are sponsoring free carousel rides. From noon to three on Tuesday as well. The kitty land carnival will be open. But again, no sound, no lights. Just trying to make it a peaceful experience that maybe it's not overstimulating the fair is a lot going on. Every week where you look. So, um, So this will be a week from today. Yes. Okay. All right. And then, uh, and then we have, uh, pancake to pig. Pancake to pig. A real pig. A real pig is coming into the studio tomorrow. Yeah. Yeah. I haven't even met pancakes. Really?

1:09:13And then we have, we have pancake, the pig. And then what, what was the goat's name? Uh, bow. Bow the goat. And then the mule is a jack. And then the cow, the little bit clover, clover. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, plus all of just the regular livestock. Yeah. Yeah. And the kids will all be out the first weekend, showing all their animals. And then we have a lot of projects, a lot of work of what into this moment. So when my grandson was, I think about four, we were at the fair and we did the thing where, um, you throw the ping pong balls to get the goldfish. Yeah. But you can buy your way to success. You slip them 10 bucks and they're like, you get through the, you're going to get a fish, right? At the end and a little cage and like they are a thing. A cage. Well, a whole lot of it. Water doesn't stay in the cage very long. So, uh, so we buy that and maybe he was even three. And then he sinks like two of the three balls that, you know, we have three fish coming home with us. So they put them all in the thing and they were all named after Paw Patrol.

1:10:15It was like rubble, chase and sky or one of those things. Well, then they can't realize. So then that, you know, they eat it anyway. One of them survived the strongest chase. The dark side. Be a chase for four years. Really? Yeah. It was a good one. Yeah. But chase, it was, it was like, nope, I'm going to survive. And it's going to be survival of the fittest. And this is going to, it was like three and a half four years. Something crazy. I kept getting him more of a situation like upgrading his situation because he kept living. So. He got a bigger cage. He didn't have a bigger goldfish cage. Some pet store were saying, thank you. Yeah. Exactly. But I was, I think what I liked about it was because the tart to get the ball into the little thing. So they have a way to kind of guarantee it. Yeah. Then you got a three year old sink and shots from 20 feet away. It's like, well, now we've got a, now we have a whole collection of fish. And then you had to carry them around the fair all day. We did. Yeah. And their little plastic bag. Well, and they had given us the cage.

1:11:16Temporary cage. So actually there's a picture of us. He's got his stroller. My friend was with me. And we got the three fish here. And then everything. And then he was like, wow, crazy. And the fish are like, oh my god. What is going on? Put us back in the back. They are tough fish if they didn't have heart attacks from the stiny. Yeah. I think. And I kept thinking, no, this isn't going to go. But it was, it was, it was pretty, a pretty amazing. But there's a very memory. It's a very memory. Yes. All about the fair. 1:38:45You guys are. You're. We're. We're man. That's what we do. If we need to scarf something down quick, it'd be a maze. It's really good. Those were from a back harvest house. So good. Yeah. Well, Molly reheated them. Yeah. That's a pro move to reheat them. 15 seconds in the microwave all in that there were four of them in that way. That this doesn't look good for TV purposes. That's not a good look for us. Yeah, sometimes there's good product placement. Sometimes it's just in a wrinkle of bag. Then anyway, I just kept it in the bag. I haven't quite finished mine. Great to see you Sam Adams. Great to be here. Yeah, we have missed you. You've had a lot of adventures lately. Well, Aralais is an adventure taking my son off to college for his junior year in Phoenix for college and did that junior junior. Junior. Yeah, he's got this year next and that's it. Is Colleys daughter one year behind? Correct. Okay. So she's starting her second year today. They go back to school today. That's the first day of school. Like moving week was last week and it starts today.

1:39:46What kind of classes does he take? He has one online class. Everything else is like super specific to his major now. So it's business and marketing and then he wants a minor in sports. So it's really cool. He's getting it do the good stuff. Do you know what is the little thing? How do you do the thing? Oh, the low. It's like a quiet coyote kind of thing. Yeah. Like this. If he had started golfing earlier, which he could have gone on a golf scholarship. You know that there's a little known secret or well, I don't know, well known for girls. You can go on a golf scholarship and you can shoot in the 100s and you still because there's so few female golfers you can still. But is that a hundred percent? A hundred percent. No, that is true. It is true. It is true. It may have gotten a little bit over the years, but I know as like five, six years ago. Okay, because I mean, I was talking to a friend she works here kind of part time. She used to be full time.

1:40:48But she had a daughter, has a daughter who was was in high school at the time and super competitive, you know, going to state and all this stuff. But really like getting a true scholarship to a program that she wanted to go, that was like, okay, it's not like everybody's coming out of the woodwork to get you. They're not full ride scholarships, but they're scholarships. I mean, at least the ones that I had heard about and they they'll say, oh, am I playing in college? Like, oh, well, what kind of score do you? I break a hundred once in a while. And you got to go on a scholarship? Wow. I can do that. They would have let me in. I'm sure they also had to have good grades and stuff. But anyway. Yeah. So, well, that's exciting that he's back. Yeah. Yeah, great. And it's kind of interesting because like I've been in dad mode for, you know, for 20 years of his life and, you know, I would say sometimes I'm like, but I'm not sure if I'm bloody. I'm sorry. I'm here to be your dad first. I'm not here to be your friend. I'm here to be your dad. So there'd be times where, you know, you have to lay down the lawn, teach them life lessons

1:41:52and all that and less about, you know, if you if you did something funny or inappropriate, I would laugh privately. Right. But not a naval and encourage the behavior. And now this time it's, it's like the, the, the restrictor played is off and, and where I feel like friends first and father, son, second. You did all your hard work. That's what happens when you put in the hard work. Then you lay the groundwork and then you've created a nice human being. So then the life lessons, that's, that's, that's how I feel. Yeah. Honestly, I don't want to jinx the no hitter, but I feel really good. Yeah. That's good. My mom and I are like that. That's good. I think after about 20, and once I started making better decisions, we became really good friends and then it was always just that. They're, you know, shaky times when you're 17, 18 and 21, 22. Now it's just bet bud. We're going to play two rounds of golf down there. We did he beat you yet? He did. He beat me. It happened. Oh, yeah. Yeah.

1:42:53This is very exciting. Well, exciting. Yeah. I mean, we knew it was going to happen, but of course it happens on basically the last day of summer. Like last day before, I'm now I'm, we're not going to play golf again until, you know, two knows. So yeah, he played lights out. He shot a 40 on the front. And then he did shoot a 46 on the back. And I shot a 42 on the back. I actually played well on the back nine, but he had already rated me on the front. Yeah. Was it a course that either one of you had played before? No, brand new. It was a resort course. And I love this about Phoenix. It's a little known gem. But these golf course, they have so many. And people like from Washington and Idaho and wherever, you know, you want to go down there October, November, December, January, February because it's like you can't golf here. Right. But there it's primo. It's 75 degrees. Well, on the flip side, you go and play an early September, late August.

1:43:53And of course, it costs $100 for around 45 bucks with the car. It's 89 billion degrees. Or 106. Not that I was looking. It was a cooker. But the ball, ball travel is a little farther. It does. Yeah. All rolls. How long was the drive and where'd you stop? We stopped off in Salt Lake. That's, that's almost the halfway point. You lose an hour because of the time change. Oh, right. And so we stayed. We've got a family there on my wife's side. So we were to stay there and like South Salt Lake. And it got in like 10 o'clock that night. And you know, quick and then got on the road about 830 the next morning and got into Phoenix that evening. We gained an hour back this time of year. So Arizona doesn't change. They're all the always the same. Yeah. So it was nice. It was, you know, he did most of the driving, which was nice. Oh my gosh. He didn't get better in better. You did raise him right. I did. I loved it. Yeah, it was great. And then even the moving was easy.

1:44:53Yeah. In a dorm or is he in a house? It is on campus. But apartment style living, but it's definitely a dorm, you know? I have a question about on campus. So at Gonzaga, you know, the big main Hemings worth like their main where they're cafeteria and all that like that made building right across the street. So you get in there and there's the parking thing. Then there's that. Then there's the field in front. There is a house, just a house. I mean, that's a neighborhood, right? And is that just a person living that house or is that a what it looks like a regular house? It looks like it's decorated like a regular house. It's got Gonzaga flags and stuff, obviously, they're fans, but there's a little neighborhood in there. Sometimes the school will own some houses around. Sometimes I don't know. Right in the middle. You know, it's interesting. You ask that at Grand Canyon University of Phoenix. There's the, you know, there's the football or football. The baseball field, the, you know, all the dorms, the, all of the campus and then smack

1:45:56dab right in the middle of the camp, not middle of the campus, but part of the campus is just a random house. See that? One home. That's what I'm saying about this Gonzaga house. But it was myself as refused to sell. And to this day, he will not sell. He's got signs up and like, no, won't sell refused to sell. And he's just, oh, now he's got one dude in his house right in the middle of the college campus. College kids, 18, 19, 20 years old, are all walking by. Yeah. See it, it seems like I can see that the holding out thing, but then, then all of a sudden, you're living in the middle of a college. Yeah. You really have to like, you're in it at that point. At one point, are you holding out for like a better price or is it a principle? Oh, that ship sailed, I think. Yeah. Well, but here like, I think GCU is looking at like if we, if we get this person to sell them, we can do all of this around this. There's only so much you can do with, you can't say in which it in like, was it up? Was that the movie up? Oh, right. With the house sales house.

1:46:58And but remember, it's like this, this, this little home, and then there's skyscrapers right up against. Oh, yes. Yeah. It's not quite like that situation, but you're waiting, they're waiting. Yeah. Now, I got to ask you about the, because we had a discussion about the Michigan Western Michigan game and how these teams, these big schools will, pay a smaller school to come in for their first game of the year and basically be a sacrificial lamb to, so and you went to the Arizona State Morgan state. Yeah. Not work out for Morgan state. Well, they got money. Yeah. Right. I think they got about 650 grand or something like that. Okay. That's huge. That's vital. They, they really budget that in because that, that's going to pay for travel or scholarships for all the things you need to do to keep the lights on the program, right? And so yeah, it was, I think it was 49 to seven at half time. Okay. And then, and then I've never had this.

1:47:59I've never heard of this either. So, so we left at a certain point, backups or an in me and my son are like, let's, let's, let's go. We got the experience. This is Arizona State and Morgan state. Correct. Okay. It sees no per for ASU. It's 63 to seven at this point, I believe. And we're like, we're good. And so we, we leave the stadium. We do the, the walk up. We, we, we're, we're waiting to get on the little light rail to get back home. And as a guy, there's, there's a bunch of other ASU fans at this point, came over and the guys got his phone on and looked down. He's like, I'm going, huh. There's 657 left in the fourth quarter. I'm like, what happened? How much did, how long was that? I walked to the train station. And then somebody said, oh, yeah, they shaved five minutes off the clock for, for Mercy Rule. I'm going in college football. And I know it like I covered sports, collegiate sports, high school athletics. Yeah. And I know it's like high school.

1:48:59There is a Mercy Rule for, for football, they'll turn on a running clock for baseball. You know, you'd tend to run them. They'll stop. I'm like, I raised my umbrella. What's going on here? And I found out after the fact that the coach for Morgan state, and, and I know, I'm going to head basically gone to the referee and said, can you shave off five minutes off the clock? And then you need permission from the other coach who I don't think, Dillon Ham, Kenny Dillon Ham, the ASU head coach. I don't even know if he was aware of this. But he said, yeah, sure, take five minutes off the clock. And there's a rule that I've never seen happen, period in my life, where both coaches agree and I'm sure the officials have to agree to, they take five minutes off the clock. And they did. They cut five minutes out. What is that? When they said they shortened the game, I thought, well, what does that mean? That they just, you know, run the ball and let the clock run. No, they said we're taking five minutes off of the game. I've never heard of that. I've never seen it in my life. Yeah. Don't look at me. I just started fantasy football for the first time Friday night. I have my draft.

1:50:00Oh, the big draft. She's throwing her. If I could take five minutes off of fantasy football draft, I would have to take that. And then some. We, we did our draft in record time. It's only an hour. Whoa. Yeah. April, my co-captain and I were the fastest, I think. We were pretty, pretty efficient because we didn't know what you're doing. Did you, did you use the tier system? Do you have like your S tier, your A tier, your B tier? I don't know what that means. What about you, Dave? Are you a tier person? I, I had, I think I had a pretty good draft. I, I, you know, I know who my starters will be in my head at least. Okay. I put it in. And you've never done fantasy. Oh, I did. I used to be hardcore. I was. I was sleeping, breathe this stuff. Yeah. And now no more. Oh, no, I quit. Cold turkish. You had to quit. Well, I was a commissioner of the league. Oh. And awful. It's not fun being because you get, you get people butt and heads and all the stuff like, I was supposed to have the way for this person to make this move. This person's in kuhuts with this person. You know, like, but we're friends here.

1:51:00Like you guys are arguing about this. Like they, they would get into epic. We're not going to have that kind of a league. It's going to be very, very friendly. Good. That's a very friendly. Yeah. Okay. Michelle says that isn't that the being crossbe house on the guns like a campus? Oh, maybe perhaps. It looked like somebody was living there and it looked like they were renovating in the back. Now, they, you could see through and they looked like they were, I just noticed it because I was there for something the other day. And I just thought, this is a regular house, right in the middle of the. Love it. Well, I love the randomness. Don't know if I would want that. I just like doing a little. He likes the love that the analog. He learned that one. Grand Canyon played here in Phoenix or on the road from Phoenix and spoke in. Now at that time, did you? He was considering. Oh, he was considering. But he was considering. He was a, I think a senior or a junior in high school at that time. Okay. And he was very much considering Grand Canyon and then between that and his visit down there.

1:52:01And they still do the thing. You know, they have the discovery trip where you can go there. They will pay for the airfare. They'll put you up on campus lodging. And I think they even give you a per diem for food. And you can check out Grand Canyon while free of charge. Could I do that? I'm wondering about that. I don't know. I really want to go back to school. Here's my transcripts and I'm just really going to check it out. I'm going to guess you have to be an active high school student. I'm going to get. That makes sense. Yeah. What if I have the education level of an active high school student? I've heard that about myself. So. But that I remember that basketball game that we were because we were in the same we were in the same little room there. And I just thought these people are so much fun. And I said, well, that was a cool school. And they were all doing the little thing. And that was enough to win them over to go there. I mean, it kind of was the tipping point for them. Yeah. Yeah. There were not this year, but maybe last year when we did the thing for silverwood, we helped with their scholarships.

1:53:02They give like 12 kids, $1,000. Remember how many Grand Canyon? There were a lot of Grand Canyon kids. So how many Grand Canyon kids? That's a growing school, too. It is. They've got a big online program, too. A lot of people go to GCU, but don't actually go there. They take a lot of the classes online work exclusively online. It's a massive online presence. But I like the campus, too. It's not the people. If you know Phoenix, you'll know this is in Glendale. It's not the best neighborhood. I wouldn't compare to like USC's campus where you're kind of in an oasis, but the campus itself, there's security, there's checkpoints and all that stuff to get in. But I love their campus. I love the vibe there. UCLA has a great campus. That's in the heart of Westwood. Like that's a fun. I had some friends who managed an apartment building, kind of like you're managing an apartment building. Tell them you're managing the apartment building story. You didn't tell them managing the apartment building story earlier. Yeah, I told them on the air. Did you know? No, you told me off there.

1:54:03Oh. Oh, so little did we went to Greenbluff, visit our friend's back service house. They had the big thing. It was a huge hit. Massive. Stuffed on the bluff. Stuffed on the bluff. It was fantastic. This is the first year they did it. Yes. And they're already full steam ahead for next year. It's going to be wonderful. Well, what I didn't know. So we're talking to Kim and Todd at the end. And then he says, hey, I got to ask you, did you use to manage apartments back in the early 80s? And I said, yeah, actually, I did. It was a little spot on the South Hills. It says, my dad owned that building. You actually worked for my dad way back when. Oh, yeah. And it was that all kind of came back to me. His name was Gordon. And he owned the building. And I was basically a manager slash everything person. I had to paint. I had to change the elements in the hot water tanks. I had to have the people come in, clean the rugs when new people would come in and out and everything. Did you get free rent for that?

1:55:04I got I had discounted rent. I think I paid a hundred bucks for rent. Oh, yeah, it was a good deal. It's a great deal for me. Yeah. But I also learned a lot about managing apartments. There was a lot of a lot of stuff that went on that you know, but I learned the box and you built relationships, apparently. Yeah, I guess so. Yeah, it was good. All those years later. Small world. Small world. Yeah. Yeah, the, the, who was the girl from here? Who was up there yesterday? Oh, Melinda. Melinda. Yeah. A lot of K HQ coverage. Tomorrow we have a pig coming in. I was telling Colline, K HQ guys want to talk to pancake the pig. Oh, what time? To real pig. Nine o'clock. Okay. Be after hours, but I didn't know it. But it's part of the sensory day at the fair on Tuesday. That's amazing. Yeah. Well, as long as we don't have to, we do a teacher of the month. And I can't tell you what school because it's always a surprise. Because you, you know, with this about the teacher of the month. So we'll always do wonder in the school year every month that you get, you know, a student

1:56:06will write a nomination letter. Yeah. It's always heartfelt and we'll surprise the teacher during a, an assembly. Yes. But they, they keep us in like cloak and dagger because they don't want us to like, you got to park off on the side because if they, if we walk in, they, you know, the kids will start to go, what's going on here? Yeah. So they, they'll, we've been in, in a closet before essentially. We've been in, uh, where those, have you seen those, uh, the wrestling room, you know, where they have the mats. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We'll be in there next all the stinky, you know, singlets and stuff. And well, we got to hide and be there. So I can't even tell you where to. And so this, so what they tell the students is, oh, it's a regular assembly. Yeah. It's back to school assembly. Everybody's going to meet here. And then you guys come out with a big surprise. We introduce ourselves. We get the crowd all excited. It's, it's one of my favorite part. Because the teacher could be any staff member. Is it an educator in general? Or is it teacher? I can't remember ever not having a teacher for him, but I'm, I don't know. And the kids nominate them. The kids nominate.

1:57:07No. And so is sweet because that's hard, especially if you're like a eight year old or a 10 year old or 12, however old, writing a letter, taking the time to do that. Open yourself up because it's usually about a personal thing like that, you know, um, this year has been really difficult for me. And this teacher would always put a smile on my face with a dad pun and, and, you know, make me feel good about my day. And if it wasn't for this person, you know, I would, I would hate middle school or whatever. And those kids are so courageous writing those letters. So now for this first one, is this from a last year's letter? Or did somebody write a letter super fast like school or how does, or yeah, I guess I can reveal it. I think there was basically something where we were supposed to do it to end last year. Okay. But I have to speak very vaguely, but something happened where we couldn't do the, um, teacher of the month presentation then. Okay. So now they've pushed it to this year. But both the teacher and the student are still at the same school. As sometimes we have had it where it is a carryover or something where it's like a nomination

1:58:10that had happened, but it's in now that the student is in a new school, even, like they'll have gone from elementary to middle school or whatever. Okay. And so many times it will be then that the kid will come in and get a, you know, day off or at least an hour off or something like the dentist's appointment. You get a little note. Yeah. I love it. I think that would be the ultimate just having a young person to take the time to write something and have that must. So teaching is a hard job. And it can be really thankless. I would imagine. You got to hear that to actually hear it from your kid and every teacher has been essentially moved to tears every single time. Yeah. I say the promos you guys have were fantastic. It is heartfelt. It's, it's really fun to be, you know, because sometimes it's like we were reading about the news and all the things are going on the world and there's tragedy, there's sadness, and you see that. And that's how we get to end our day. That's like the last thing as we leave, like we go to do the teacher of the month and

1:59:12it's really nice. That's nice. Same. Yeah. So what you're saying you might not be here for the pick. I mean, that's what you're trying to say. That's all right. I think the logistics for this whole pig thing. Are we going to be? You worried? Well, I don't know like does the pig stand on the table? No, I think he's big. Are you going to hold the pig? Well, I don't know. I mean, the pig has to be on camera. If we're going to have a pig in the studio, you've got to be on camera. I think the pig will be here. I think. Maybe we get another chair and put the pig up on the chair. That's a good idea. Yeah, well, it could possible go wrong. I don't know that the pig goes on the table. Could I make a recommendation? Yes, recommendation. I think you put the pig in a blanket. Ha! Pancake may come in a blanket. I don't know. Hey, and then one other thing. 2:00:12The last resort. The last resort. Yeah. It comes down to this. We tied one of the majors. I beat you by a stroke in one of the majors. You destroyed me in the most recent major. Oh, yeah. He's not in the long. He knows. Yeah. So it all comes down to this last one. And in the meantime, your son beat you. I know. Oh, that's it. Yeah, that's it. It wasn't a question of if. It was a question of when. Like I've been getting incrementally better, I think, at this point. And my son has been skyrocketing. And he's bendy. He's strong. And he is obsessed with golf every time. I'm like, what are you doing? He's like, oh, I'm watching YouTube. And he'll be watching like some. And he's practicing. They're all golf related videos. Now he looks at. He is obsessed with golf. Well, he's built. He's built for it. He is. He's a very good shape. Long and lanky and just in control of his movement. You can tell he's got a beautiful swing. And then there's me. You have a beautiful swing too. All the things that you mentioned about him. Because it's not as bendy.

2:01:12The opposite. But remember when you beat me? Yeah. It was a while ago. Now, it was the second major. It comes down to this. It's going to be so much fun. It's now called an IRA because 401k is a for people who have jobs. And have employers who pay into them. But what you run your own, like now it's just a savings account for you. Yeah. Molly Show continues. Look who here, our friend, John from New America Credit Union. Normally, we just hear him on the phone, but now you get to see him in person. I know. I am a real person. I found it. Here I am in the flesh. We always get to learn about stuff. Oh, what is about once a month or something. Yeah, absolutely.

2:03:13We usually talk money once a month. Yeah. And this one is very timely because I did not know this. But Friday is national 401k day. Yes. Let's remember the 9-11 obviously. Yeah. And not something, yeah, not something that a lot of people are thinking about. But I think it's an important thing is that that 401k can be a game changer in terms of financial security for folk. Sure. Yeah. Let's talk about that in terms of people like us. Okay, fair enough. Well, and truly, so had a 401k. And then when you get dismissed early, then it turns into an IRA. You can turn it into an IRA. But now, so, and then because nobody else is contributing, it's just me now. So you turn it into an IRA, but you're talking about 401k's that people can start themselves. So does that work? Well, yeah, there are a lot of different retirement options. The most common one would be the employer provided 401k. And the reason it's so powerful is sometimes it comes with a match and it has, you know, things like,

2:04:13if you're making student loan payments, you can sometimes get the match from your employer, which is really cool. But yeah, so for folks who don't have access to an employer plan, there's lots of options. They can open up an IRA or individual retirement account. They come in a traditional or Roth flavor as I call them. And really, that just has to do with when you might want to pay the taxes on those. Do you want to pay them now or later? And so for a lot of folks who have paying them now, it means, you know, no less income taxes in retirement. And the Roth you pay the taxes upfront. Correct. And then when you get the money later, it's free money. Absolutely. So it can be especially powerful for young adults because they, you know, you're going to be in a low tax bracket now, especially if you're just starting out and you might be making more money in retirement. So so there, I think one of the things, there's always options for folks, even if you're doing like Uber or DoorDash side hustle stuff, there's still options to begin to saving for that retirement. Okay. So that we just go, do you go to an American say, hi, I want to talk about my 401k? It's a great question. So so for folks again, so for folks who have a 401k, one of their best resources is going to be their plan provider, whoever options.

2:05:16So like at New America, we have a fidelity is our plan provider and you can get access usually to a lot of resources for free. And so because again, your employer is paying for that plan and so and they want you to be successful. And so that's going to be your best option. So talking with your HR team or whoever manages your plan, because a lot of folks, they, you know, they don't understand what is this thing? How does it work? And how can I really take advantage of it? And you're almost always, in fact, I think always always, you want to max out on the number that you need to hit the match. Yes. Because that's the free money. It's great. Yes. In this life, if anyone wants to offer you free money, the answer is yes. Yes. And the nice thing about a match is employer is saying, hey, based on what you contribute, we'll match it dollar for dollar up to a certain amount. It can be common, maybe a 4% match. So first, you know, 4% of your paycheck. And then the powerful thing is your employer might be doing, you know, half of the heavy lifting for you, which is a pretty generous thing. And so, yeah, if we can, now some folks can't yet afford that. So they have to slowly build up to it. But plans have lots of flexibility, like some have an annual increase option where you can automate it to where, hey, I wanted to increase 1% per year up to a certain amount.

2:06:21So you don't feel the pain of that paycheck as much as doing it all once. And you can have them take it out just let's say you're on your on your own like we are, you know, so it's up to us to create our own retirement plan. But you can still make it so automatically just gets taken out of your bank account every 30 days or whatever. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, like so for myself, you know, for a time I was not working a traditional job. I was a freelance writer doing financial writing. And so yes, I set up my Roth IRA to just do automatic withdrawals and then contributing into the investment situation picked inside of it. And so the, you know, I always like to think about money is we're trying to kind of get it into a lazy river. You know, I was just at silverwood. So I'm thinking about this. I'm like, hey, this is moving us along and it's improving our financial situation. And the automatic contributions, just like you said, can be a real good way that we do that. Because it's just building in the background and moving you towards that long term financial goal. And then with the market the way it's been, it's just everything is growing things have been.

2:07:22Yes, that is true. I know it's so interesting, right? Because you know, when folks are looking at the prices of things, you know, the economy is really challenging. Yes, when you look at the market itself, it has been, we've been in a very healthy market for quite a while. And so one of the ways that one of the benefits of 401ks, it lets you participate in that life is really expensive. But right now the market has done well and we want folks to participate in that in that at the same time. Because otherwise the price of gas, the price of housing, the price of healthcare, the price of groceries, that's going to be incredibly challenging if we're not participating in that growth that's happening at the same time. So years ago I did the 509 for my grandson. Oh, the 529. Oh, yeah, 509 is our area. That's amazing. That's amazing. I do $50 a month. That's all I've ever done. That's great though. So it is built up. He's 13 now. By the time he's ready for school, what I love about that too is if he doesn't want to use it for education, one of the other kids can use it. It's transferable.

2:08:22And you can use it for all parts of education, for housing, for my family. It's really flexible. Oh, yeah, you've talked about it. I remember we talked about that before. And cool thing as well is if there if a grand kiddo or a kiddo or whoever, like so yeah, I have one for my six year old daughter. Yeah. If there is the option to begin to roll that over into a Roth IRA for them slowly over time. So it's up to $35,000 lifetime. Right. And then you have to it's based on the max contributions into a Roth IRA, which I think is about $7,500 a year. It's like, you know, a 22 year old who graduates and let's say they're still 35,000 in that 529 by 26. They could probably have all of that rolled over if they're working. Oh, yeah. So that's seed. And the interesting thing about that 529 is it can be a kiddos first retirement account. Yeah. So that's kind of how I'm viewing it for my daughter if she doesn't need it for college, which we'll see. Yeah. It can be a good option. So there's a lot of flexibility with those. Yeah. Yeah, I like that part about it. It doesn't have to be a traditional just, you know, okay, you're going to a university and you're definitely doing it.

2:09:22If it's a trade school and you have it, you need school, whatever. So it's, it's, you know, there's all sorts of different ways to kind of slice and dice that creating financial security for yourself in the future. I mean, one of the things, again, this isn't really a default on case, but health savings accounts or HSAs. I did that and I'm sorry. These are, so if you're on a high deductible health plan that has an HSA, that is one of the only true tax free accounts you can get. Money you contribute, you don't pay taxes on. You can invest excess proceeds if you want to. And then if it's used for health care for you or anyone in your family, you don't pay taxes on the withdrawals. It's all tax free. So if you're like, I want to avoid all the taxes, the HSA can be a good option. So I did that and then I had a lot of dental stuff come up this year and it was perfect. It was like, well, just use that. Yeah. And so, and I think, you know, one of the things that I always tell folks, because, you know, we've thrown out a lot of different terms, right? And it can feel really daunting like, okay, 401k HSA 529. There are often resources, especially at your credit union or at your employer that can just help you understand how to maximize those things.

2:10:23And the number one thing I always say to folks is small financial moves made now that are given time to work and make a big impact. You talked about it with the 529 plan for your grand 50 bucks a month can translate into much more, depending on the circumstances. And so, you know, people always say, oh, when should I kind of start this retirement journey? It's like, well, of course, the best time was however many years ago. Yeah. But the next best time is today. Right. And so whatever we can do today, even, you know, logging into your account, if you haven't looked at it in a little while, maybe increasing the contribution, if you're already contributing or if you're not, they just take it to 1%. And so, we know life is really expensive, but if we can make some small moves, it can make a big time impact. I like that. Today's the next best day. Absolutely. I mean, it's true for so many elements of life, right? Everything, yes. Hey, I meant to go to the gym yesterday. Okay, you didn't go to gym yesterday. Today's the best day. Right. And so, I think it can feel like it's like one of the things I'm doing this year, I'm teaching a personal finance class at the community school for a semester. And we're giving, and we're giving students some, we're taking a small investment portfolio, splitting the class into two groups.

2:11:25And each of them is going to manage $1,000 and they're going to invest it over the course of a semester. Okay. And I'll see how they do. I did this with students in this spring. And they did well. They generated about a 8% return. And so I think, you know, so many people, they haven't gotten to experience that investing piece. And so what I'm always telling those students is, hey, this is going to feel intimidating. But we want to get over that fear so that we get into it because there are, there can be significant potential benefits to it. And so, you know, and so I'm hoping for the young folks, they'll be like, I know exactly what a 401K is because I talked to that. And it goes right back to the 401K because usually you can't. As a, just a regular person, you can't buy into the stock market, but you can with a 401K, you can manage different parts. And I want a more aggressive one or I'm a young person. I got lots of time ahead of me. Absolutely. I can, you know, take a long road. So what's your hot tip? What's the hot? What's what's happening? Oh, man. Oh, well, you know, don't give a specific investment advice.

2:12:27But what I would say is, I think the number one thing I would offer to folks is, and I said this to students in this class, this class last Friday. I said, many people are scared of losing money. I genuinely understand that. The reality is, in our lifespan, we're all going to lose some money. And you're going to see that balance go up and down. It's going to happen. So if we can embrace that and get over that fear, we can get into that 401K and we can use it to our advantage. And time is always your friends. Time is always your friend. And you know what, I'll, again, I keep using this example of students, but I'll ask that, you know, one of the things I'll also ask them is, hey, what is a resource that you have a lot more of than I do? Now, it was hilarious in my last class. One student said, hey, because Lori is flowing locks. I was just like, this kid is amazing. And then another one said, I think time was like, yes. And so when you have time, time is the most powerful financial resource that anybody has. And I don't, I don't even think money comes close. And so, yeah, so a small financial moves that are given some time can make a big difference.

2:13:29I like it. And then you have all this information online. Where do people go if they want to? There's lots of good resources. Yeah, if you're looking for new America specific resources, go to numeracaseu.com. You're going to go to the financial wellness section of our website, which is right up there on the top page. We have options for, you know, hey, connecting with New America financial services, which is the investing portion of our credit. Lots of articles on what is a 401k? What is a Roth IRA or a traditional IRA? And how do they work? And I think just again, what I would offer to folks is if you feel like you don't have someone you can connect with, the place that you're keeping your money is one of those resources. So you connect with them and say, hey, I'm just looking for some advice of what I can do. Who can I connect with? Right. Well, this is all very good information. Yeah. It is. I know as I was learned something when we talked to you. I think it's very generous. I think, you know, normalizing money conversations is one of the things that I live for. And so anytime that I can do that, I consider it a real honor. And I didn't know that you were, you were a freelance financial writer. I had, yes, I wasn't a past life. So my- What are you right about? Well, that's a great question.

2:14:29So my journey into banking is very eclectic. When I went to college, I studied theology and religion and ministry. And I became a youth pastor for four years. I went to grad school for pastors. But one of the things I was just interested in how money worked because I knew I wasn't probably going to make very much. Transparenly. And so my wife and I started a financial blog for young adults. It was called Two Copper Coins at the time. And it was really just us writing about our own finances. So paying off our student loans. Learning how to invest for retirement when we were in our 20s. Buying rental properties, which is something we did. And then when we moved to Spokane, I had a gentleman that I met who was in the military. And he was looking for financial wellness resources for veterans. And so I started doing some side financial writing for him. And so, yeah, he owned a business called Military Crashpad, which was, which provided rentals for, Ermin, who were going to be deployed, like, you know, for maybe six months to a year by a particular military base. And so he was like, hey, we just want to help them level up their finances because they have, they make quite a bit.

2:15:30They're young and they tend to spend a lot of it. And I was like, no problem. Right. And so that was kind of, and then my journey into banking kind of evolved from there. I thought, hey, I'd just, I'd like to be able to talk to people about money in a, a quality of professional capacity. And so thus, I've landed where I am now. And then how long you've been in America? I've been, I started there in March of 22. So just over four years. And it's been, I mean, one of the things I love at New America is we kind of have that combination of, we know we're a credit union, so money is our business. But the, we want to normalize financial conversations. And we want to use the money that we're able to generate as a credit union to make a real impact in the communities that we serve. And you guys are doing that. Me and a man everywhere you turn, America is doing something great. It makes me very proud to work in it. Yeah. So yeah. I'm not my journey into, into banking. I didn't, like if you ask people at New America, many of us did not intend to get in banking. It wasn't like our, what we thought about in college, but, um, but I think it creates a really cool flavor of folks that we have. So I just, I just like normalizing those financial conversations. You got a lot of good people there.

2:16:30Yeah. I would agree. So I feel lucky to be among them. All right, Jon. Thanks Jon. Thanks for having me. I love being in love with you. Yeah. Yeah, all I know is that if there's going to be a pancake, the pig and studio, we've got to make sure that people see them. Okay, like I don't want to be down here. I said, oh, trust us. There's a big right down here. You got to get them on camera. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, well, I don't know if you got to hold them up or we have another chair. We put pancake up on a chair. I don't know if he's too big or she.

2:17:31I don't know. Can we hold them? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. I guess they too and for tomorrow because you're going to find out. Well, and also we could maybe move the camera if he has to stay on the ground. We could move the camera around and then we could also do Facebook Live and two or the more like straight on peg thing. No, wait, what, what day is that again tomorrow? Okay, all right, I'm going to have to make sure I tune in because I got to see this.
