We now return to the Dave and Molly show. Hey, welcome back everybody. David Molly show continues. Kate Hudson is here. How's it going? I'm good. First you have to find over there. I'm Tenga with the headphones. Let me make sure that you're on screen. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I'm going to move it over just a tiny bit though. I think you put it all on Kate. Just zoom in on her all the time. You just hear two other voices talking and then she. And my nose, my pores. All right, we're going to do. How about that? That's perfect. Pretty good? Yeah. I can't see. So I'm going to assume that it looks great. Oh, you look great. Don't do me dirty. Everything is fine. Happy, happy Friday. I know it's kind of a weird Friday because of 9-11 thing and everything. But it's Friday. We're happy that you're here. I'm happy to be here. Yes.
Because this is a highlight of my week. That's too. Yeah. Happy you here. And I love seeing you. Yeah. Good to see you. You guys make everything funny. See? That's good. We hang our hats on the funny. Hang in there. You make everything look prettier. Oh, that's so hot. Oh, no, no. Yeah. I'll give you 10 minutes to stop that kind of talk. Anyway, short week. It's been great. Yeah. And then you have a short week next week. Yes, we do. I love this video. And I think with the week after that. What? Well, it gets stuff. Remember we were talked about after the walk. After the walk, we'd work a day. Right. Because we want to be able to talk about the walk. Yes. But then we want to have an arrest day after that going into it. Then we talked about powering through and taking the Monday off too.
Oh. Because there's a concert Sunday night. Remember? Yes, we did. That's the plan. That is the plan. Yes, I've changed. Yes, the plan has changed. Yes. We have had this discussion. Yes. Okay. This is how we have our employee. These are our employee meetings. They'll happen on the air. We want to make sure that the listeners here because they'll remember more of what we talk about than we do. And then they'll say no. They'll remind us. Yes. That's right. So that is happening. Yeah. Anyhow. What's happening this weekend here? We've got the Spokane County interstate fair. Yes, we do. More on that. Yes. We're going to be at the speedy today. Oh, yes. I love this for you. Oh, yeah. It's going to be fun. Are you going to get an elephant? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to be fun. Yeah. Are you going to get an elephant? Yeah. Well, we're going to get tanked up. First of all, and then it's on the. You're going to get tanked up. I'm not getting tanked. Oh, you're not. Oh, you're going to have a drink though. I don't, I don't know. I don't have. I don't know. So our plan is we're going to the speedy. We're going to help.
We're going to launch the speedy. But they want us to have like a drink there. And I can't have anything if I'm going to drive it all. So I'm going to go to the valley, drop off my card. Uber. And then we're going to get the middle of the day. She's going to Uber to the fair. Yes. Sweet. Or you should come get me. Wait a minute. I'm thinking plan. No, I got to get the dog over to the. We're going to stand the valley. I'll be the one in the Uber in the middle of the day. Not grocery shopping, but going to the fair. And then we go to the speedy. And they have the Kevin shape and Kevin shape. Yes. Later. Okay. And then so they want us to have drinks. And then I'm going to just walk around the fair and put all the animals and stuff. She's going to be drunk. Walk around the fair. Get a bit of animals. Or you guys try to ride one of the goats. But they go mutton racing. We had a pig in here the other day. You did? Yes. And it took a crap in here. The p-dab pooped. Oh. Not on the floor. In its little cake. Oh. It's a wagon. It was quite something. Her name is Panke. But so we've been promoting the fair every day this week with different people.
I love this. So you're saying this is at the bathroom corner now? It was right there. It was right there. But it was it it's like. It was all contained. But there was still kind of a smell. Or the rest of the day. But anyway, you're here on a good day. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're here in a dog pig crap day. Perfect. Are you going to the fair personally? I don't know. I try to get there every year. But we used to go religiously when the kids were young. Sure. They love the animals. My daughter goes for sure, usually with her friends. Because now they're into the rides. Oh, that's a big deal for the kids to hang out there. It's a big. Who was telling I know it was Sam's daughter last year. Remember, they went four or five times. They that was what they did. They went and they met at the fair. Because once you get in. You go hang out. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Ride the rides. Yeah. Come home with ridiculous stuff. Yeah. Play the games. Play the games. Yeah. All the things. Yeah. So I know she'll probably be there.
Coming in out. But I don't know if I'll make it. I will see. I like the idea that I like the fact that they're trying new ideas. Like this whole speak easy thing. That was that was new last year. And you know, that's pretty bold. Hey, we're going to do this. And it turned out great. Big head. So I know. I know. I know. And it turned out great. Big head. So they're doing that again. Awesome. I like that they're incorporating some new ways to get people. Because I, you know, I've passed the fair time and then the kids are all older. And. Right. So. I also like looking at all the agricultural stuff. Yeah. You know, I call that the goods. It's actually I was thinking it's been a while. When, when Alex was little, I always took him. But lately, there you go as a family. And I, it's been a while since I've actually. Yeah. Adventure. My can will be there today because he does a 9 11 moral thing as a, he's like the honor guard. So for the fire service, they'll be there.
And I'm thinking I said, I said, I know you have to be there. And he said, well, I have a rehearsal and I got to be in my class. And all this. And I said, well, I'm going to be tanked up. So I'm going to need right now. Okay. So you come find me in the cow patch. I'll be somewhere. I'll be somewhere with the goats. He's like, hey, baby. And so he's going to be on official like duty and I'll be. Oh, well, that's all right. That's okay. Usually the other way around. So today he can get me home. Oh, it'll be the honorable thing to do. That's right. That's right. Here you go. Well said. Do they still have the racing pigs? I'm going to use to have the racing pigs. Yeah, I don't know. When we got the list of things I didn't, they didn't say, or they had the, yeah, like a mutton races. Yeah, that's different. That's like the, they put kids on them. Yeah. Yeah. So sensory day is Tuesday. That's why we met pancake the pig. And sensory days, the day that they kind of shut all the,
they do like a six or seven hour window where they don't have the lights flashing in the music for the kids. Yeah. And they have different activities for the kids who are sensitive to that. I love that. Yeah. Yeah. It's very nice. Yeah. We've had some interesting things that have happened at the fair. We had different promotions and stuff out there. What's the weirdest thing that ever happened? Well, I've told the story. I told the story. We had the ice melting competition. It was, I still have still photos of it. But it reminded me of that because the next thing over was the, was the mutton races and like the kids hanging on to the deal. And there was a, there was a violin player and it was, it's okay about the melting. How do you melt ice? What do you know? What do you wear? A little belt ice. It's radio at 1990. Are we talking big cubes like? Yes. Yes. Monster, monster cubes. Have you seen these promotions before?
I don't think so. So we had, I think we had five people. They were all, you know, women. Girls. Girls. And the, and the, and the bit is who can melt the ice, the fastest. And so they all have their, what could go wrong? Why are your cheeks turning red? It was a different time. It was a very different time. So we had these giant blocks of ice and then we had these, these women and they're, you know, they're trying to run the ice. So, and so over, over on the grandstands, there was like a fiddler show. And then, by the, by midway through the start of our competition, everybody had come to watch our event. And, and all these little like, you know, young boys, oh, quite something. And then they, they ended up shutting us down. So they, before the ice got melted. Before the ice got melt, and we had to split the money.
I think it was like, it was supposed to be a thousand dollars. Like whoever won got a thousand dollars, we ended up split like everybody just got 200 bucks and just like put your clothes back on, put your towel around you and go home. And we still, I have photos of it. Yeah. So what's this? This is, it's got to have been a 90, 93 or 94 because I remember what studio we were in because, oh my god. We, we had one of the guys that was on the air. He said, yeah, we just, I'm sorry, but we have to call it. Oh, the fair people are very upset with us right now. And it's like, well, don't say that. Don't we can cover this up like no one's going to know, except the people that were there. And there's no social media or anything. We just quietly shut it down. And then we never speak of it. Melt the ice promotion. Oh my god. I have never seen your face and neck so red.
Well, it's all coming back to me. They read it. I don't know. I don't think anyone has any video of it, but I have still photos of it. And, and just the mass group of people that saw what we were doing compared to what they were watching the world. That looks way better. I'm working over there. I'm working over there. But see that. You know they did a naked run too, right? You've heard that story. No. Oh my gosh. Well, a lot of catching up to do. Okay. So they did a fun. Was it? Is this the barbun? Well, it, it, it, that was the inspiration for it. But we, yeah, we had a guy that would actually ran naked, ran around the building naked naked man. Yeah. They called him naked simply naked band. But then they had a bunch of listeners who ran a race. We did that too. Yep. Because they were from a nudist call. Wasn't that, but that's the one thing. That's fun, right? They do that. But this they did it like a track. We took, we took a busload of listeners.
And then we went out to a track out of near way heights, just so they could, so they could run naked around the thing. And Ken and I are doing, we're broadcasting in the bus. And we're not taking off any of our clothes. But we get, as we pull up, people start tearing up their clothes. They're like, they said naked people on the bus are bumping into the car. But then he just, the whole thing was they just, all they did, they did a lap around the thing. And we have interviews of that. We have the actual video interviews. Wow. It was a different time. Yeah. Yeah. My first birthday on the air, they hired a stripper. I think I told them to, but it was a big, like a big fat guy. And instead of, he had a rooster where his, who hall would be. And I had no idea if he was going to actually strip down. I was there. I started in December. And my birthday was in May. So they only been with him a few months. And I had, I had heard of the naked run. I had heard of this melting ice situation. So I didn't know what they could possibly do.
And he comes in with a boom box. And he's in my face. And I'm like, oh, my God. And then he strips down. And he has a huge rooster. Whereas, and, and they were laughing. And he even imagined this in this time. And I was like, oh, I'm 30. I just started there. So they're my superiors. And I'm, you know, and they're bringing a stripper to assault me in the studio. And recording the air. Yes. On the air. Live on the air. And I thought it was hilarious. I was fine. But, but nowadays the women of today would be like me too. Me too. You too. All of you. I'm sorry. I'll own this company. You put a poster in my face. I'll own this place. Wow. Anyway, nothing like that will happen at the future. Do you ever wonder what you're doing now that in 30 years people are going to believe you do that?
Yeah. I can't believe you had a pig on the air. Yeah. That is a first. I don't know that we have it. We've had a goat. We've had a kangaroo. A kangaroo. I think that's it. Maybe it's our little cow one time maybe. Oh, we probably had a cow. Hey, you know, they bring those goats around. They shove a goat on you and like. Yeah. Uh-huh. Yep. I got one this year. You got golden. Yeah, I got. And then did you have to find somebody to go? Is that the yes. Um, you know, so you're kind of like on the spot like, okay, uh, then. Yeah. It's an interesting thing that it's hard. Whenever there's livestock. I know. Do the flamingos on my lawn. Those are not like. Now you've given me a live being to do something with. Yeah. My baby goats are so cute. So cute. Yes. My goat's name was Kevin, I think. The goat's name is Kevin. Yeah.
Yeah. I had a husband named Kevin. Yeah. Well, she's had a husband named just about everything. She's had so many. So, so. See. In 30 years, that's what we like. Like, and then every time marriage came up, he always counts on her. What a terrible person. He was, oh, you could never do that today. Or alcohol will be illegal. It'll only be pot. And it'll be like, oh, you, they were always tanked up. You get arrested now. Speaking of, hey, I had a whole conversation yesterday. So, so Kate's son goes to the same karate place that the girls go to. They have opened a pot shop right next door. Oh, I cannot spend more than two minutes inside the dojo. Without getting a massive headache. There's something about. Oh, is it drifting? The smell. It's not a burn smell. It's the smell of the plant. So I asked the girls and I said, does it bother you? And they said, no, it smells good. We like it. So, my son and I are watching last night. And the gal who owns the pot shop happens by. It's really sweet lady. And we start chatting.
And I said, I'm going to tell you. I said, I can't believe they zoned you here. First of all. Yeah. And she said, when we first moved in, we didn't. We thought this place was closed because they'd be there during the day. And the kids don't start coming to about 430. She said, so I just thought it was closed. She said, then we're working late one night. All these minivan show up and I'm going, oh, no. Oh, my God. What is happening? And but they she so there's been like two or three complaints from the parents. And she said that we keep passing. They come out and they test the range of odor or whatever. And it's fine. And I said, it's just me. I said, I can be in the casino with cigarette smoke. It doesn't bother me. I said, but something about the smell of weed just the plant. It just gives me a headache. So she was very nice, but it was a learning experience because interesting. Have you noticed it at all? Have you been inside the dough? I haven't been inside. Yeah. Oh, it's it permeates. But what's weird is she said, we smell the chemicals from the nail shop next door.
Oh. And then they smell the pie. And so in the news to be a gym. So basically our kids are just getting a contact. Yes. From the nail chemicals in the way. I think they're all happy. But the girls are like, it smells like a happy flower. You have no idea. Very happy. Very happy. Anyway, I just she said and then she said, you know, we can only be in certain neighborhoods. So that's why you'll see so many because I said, well, a new one, another one open. She said, yeah, there's another one down the street. She said, we're only we can't be near preschool schools, churches. Like there's all these things they can't be near. So she said we all end up within blocks of each other. But there's plenty of business for everybody. And so well, that's good. Yeah. I'm curious how many of the karate moms just pop in there for an edible while they're watching. Yeah. Yeah. Because there's a pot shop over by our little coffee stand. And he comes in the owner comes in sometimes.
And he said most of his clientele on the South Hill is soccer mom. Oh, I bet. I believe it. Yeah, I thought that was funny soccer moms and people in their 70s. Because you know, we're the people who would never try it. Right. I never would have thought when it was illegal ever, ever, ever. I did I went and bought some I was having terrible insomnia, like 10 years ago. And I went into one of those pot shops and I just said I just need something to help me sleep. And they're like right on right on right on. You want to achieve a man not indigo or vice versa. I'm like just I don't want to see Dracula just whatever just I just want to see. But I would only do that because it's legal. Right. I wouldn't have done it. Well, it was pounded into our heads. The drugs are bad. The same. You know, they are. Depending. Everything in moderation. Well, it's a bad good step. Don't smoke this natural. Yes. Anyway, we digress. Yes.
What else is happening? So that was all stem from the fair. Yeah. That's how we got on the whole fair. We also have Gary Owen. Oh, yeah. He is a comedian. He's at the first interstate center for the arts tonight. Somebody's going to that show on the text line. Oh, I heard us. Nice. It says Gary onus tonight. State night for. Perfect. Yeah. So that's that's that's a big deal. I was listening to some of his standup while I was filling out this list. And it was pretty funny. Oh, he draws on his military experience and, you know, general observations. As comedians do. We saw Ellie Wong the other night. Oh, how was it? She draws on her experiences too. And they are filthy. Well, she was just testing out material. Yeah, they come through. Oh, yeah. You mentioned that. Yeah, she was great. Very funny. I'm not funny too. But not for fun. Are the guys that, uh, so Carl, Carl, the bartender, he was at that show. Yeah. Same when you were at the early one. And it Christy like it too. I haven't talked to her. Yeah. But yeah, she, she saw the late one.
Mm-hmm. Did Carl like it? Carl did like it. Yeah. Did he say it not for everyone? She's filthy. Uh, yeah. And she was literally looking at notes. She go, okay. He did reference that because she was getting ready for a TV special or something. So she was, yeah, yeah, he was practicing. Yeah. And the same with the guy before her too. He had his notebook out. And so they'd look and then he said, I'm going to do one more. I'm going to do this one. And then we don't need to pull the curtain back that far. You guys, I thought it was good though. It was a, she never meant to spoke to him before. So she was joking about Spokane and how it was near nothing fun. Oh, yeah. You said, I thought it was New Portland. I thought it was near. I thought it was near nothing fun. And we are our own fun. We bring the fun. Yes. Exactly. Spring year giant ice cubes. Yes. We'll show you a fun time. Quite a spectacle. We also have boom jam this weekend. This is an indie music festival. Oh, I think it's in its third or fourth year.
Spokane Convention Center. This is tomorrow. It's family friendly. But it's all sorts of indie music. I'm just kind of, you know, little festivals. So they all have like their own little spot in the convention center. Yeah. How does that work? You know the outdoor amphitheater on the backside of the convention center. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. The graduate. That's a little amphitheater right there along the Centennial Trail. So they'll have a stage set up there. And they'll have a stage set up all over with bands going. And they'll have food trucks and all sorts of stuff going on. Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty cool. And then we've got the 33 artist market that's happening at Upright's Brewing. Tomorrow. And kind of, you know, on the backside of Kindle yards there. I can't think of the street name. I want to say Elm, but I don't think that's right. It's just north of Kindle. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Super cool brewery. Awesome. And it's actually 35 artists now. But they'll be selling their wares. And it's never too early to buy me a Christmas present. Oh, maybe go shopping.
I think Wally was going to cover up. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Super cool brewery. Awesome. Yeah. So go drink some beer and buy some art. And then we've got other things going on this weekend like Ann Wilson. She's playing at the Fox tonight. Really? Really? Yes. Heart and Wilson? I don't think so. I don't think it's the heart. Wilson. I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. I could be wrong. Well, I don't know. And Wilson, the musician. Maybe I'm wrong. Yes. That's the only Ann Wilson tonight. I'm not going to say that. I'm not going to say that. I'm not going to say that. I'm not going to say that. I'm not going to say that. I'm not going to say that. That. I don't know what. What does the other name of the singer I think that her voice is really, really good. And I think her voice is really good. I think her voice is really good. Well, the other name of the singer is definitely Ann Wilson. I know. Yeah. From heart and Nancy Wilson, but just Ann. Yeah. Okay. Hey. A second. It could be her. Molly's researching. And let's see. The star tour. And Wilson. With support from. Ain't nobody. Ain't nobody. Ain't nobody.
Ain't nobody. Okay. Well, but it's not saying if it's E. It's not saying if it's D. Well, that's a bit confusing. There's two. There's two. Yeah. And Wilson. I feel like you would tout that in the Yes. If it was Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and Wilson. I don't think it's that. I don't think so either. Oh. Different. Yeah. Oh, yeah, that's not her at all. That's not animals. And it looks like a speaker. Who's the who's the who's the president's speaker person that blonde the. You know, oh, car. Well, she's she laughed. I know, but she looks like that. She's like, like, that's not the. A little bit of Cheryl Crow look there. Yeah, yeah. All right. So sorry. That's okay. I redirect there, but when I hear the name Ann Wilson, I think I'm one person. Yeah, exactly. Until maybe this person will become more famous. There's another one. Mm-hmm. Two Ann Wilson's out there. Yeah. It's also a march for the fallen. Tomorrow. This is an honor of 9-11. Typically this event has been held at Riverside State Park,
but because of the fire, it's been moved to the Mead Airport. They do a run that you can sign up for and then they have like kid-friendly activities and whatnot. Fiming. Junior firefighter academy at downtown at RuPark this weekend. It's spoken city fire fighters. It's all family friendly and free as well. They'll have all sorts of activities and things to do. And then it's the black business expo. That is also happening tomorrow at the Martin Luther King Community Center. So we've got a lot of things. That's what Spokane does. I know. We've got stuff. We're fun. We're fun. Yeah, we're fun. Allie. City on the rise. Yes, we are. Are we on the move or the right? That's why we're on the move. We're moving. Pass goes to city on the rise. Yes, we're moving. I think there's lots of things. We were talking yesterday. My friend moved into the M building. Oh, yeah.
She lost her house. And so she's. But I was saying I went downtown to pick her up. I felt like I was in Manhattan or something. Like crazy downtown. Yeah. And there was a music festival, I guess, last weekend. And she said it went till late. And it's right under her window. But yeah, but it's loud downtown where her. She's on the fifth floor and it still you could hear every car. And it's a very bustling downtown. I have a coworker who moved into the M building. She just moved here from Portland. Oh, one of the fun places. Yeah, but, uh, alley. She loves it. Yeah, she says it's fantastic living downtown. She loves the M. She loves Spokane. Is she, is she young person or what? No, she's probably in her 40s. Okay. Yeah. Well, that's. So yes, young and. Oh, way young. Yeah, kids. But I think it's such an adjustment when you're using it. It's an adjustment when you're used to your backyard being Riverside State Park. Right. And then all of a sudden, if you're a used to apartment living, I don't have any friends who live in apartments anymore.
Really, we all are. Those suburb people or whatever. So it's getting used to that. But she said they have two gyms. You park at the park. Yeah. So you got your thing. They have on every floor a meeting area, which you can use. And then they have that rooftop thing that you can use. If you want to rent it or whatever. It's a cool space. Yeah, it's really. Yeah. And it used to be. And she lives on the bargain basement floor. Oh, nice. I bought a calendar once. Yeah, it was the fifth floor. And it was sort of dimly lit. But her mom used to always shop there. She said so she feels like her mom is roaming. Oh, I love the halls of the fifth floor. I love it. I love it. I remember when there was that furniture area in the basement. That I bought my furniture when it was Mama. Oh, my gosh. Marcia. Yeah. And I just remember because we had to put it on credit. I just used like $700 for it to couches. And I remember the bonnet. She built coming every month. And we'd pay like $40 a month. Yeah. Yeah. But that I think that was in the basement.
Well, no, maybe that was on the upper floor. I can't remember. I just remember. I remember those departments were having a furniture section. Totally. Yep. And you could apply for a credit card. And it was great. Yeah. Because she just. And I think that that's how I bought the couch. And I think that was like $20 to $20. Yeah. So, yeah, I did the whole thing with the credit card. And like thinking, oh, my gosh, how am I going to pay this off? I don't have this kind of money. And it was probably 38% interest. Probably. Where's our live live live live live live live live live live live live live. Yeah. And Wilson is a Christian singer. It says. Oh, yeah. With country. A Christian faith-based country singer. There you go. It's the other Ann Wilson. Yeah. I wonder how that works. Like, don't they have to agree on like, okay, well, you're. See, if I were coming up as a new person in the Northarty Ann Wilson, I think I would change my name. Well, you know, Katie Perry's real name is Catherine Hudson.
That's right. Oh, I didn't want to be Kate Hudson. That's right. Because Kate Hudson's already a thing. Well, yeah, clearly is. Right. It's you. So, so, so, so Katie Perry is really Kate Hudson. Yeah. Oh, see, look at all this stuff we're learning. Yeah, we're everywhere. Yeah. The Kate Hudson's in the world. Who is the other Michael J Fox. It was Michael A Fox. Yes, but he didn't want to be like a because he's Canadian. They want to. That true story. Yeah. Yeah. I've never heard that story. There's other people too who have had where there are any somebody whose famous has their name. And then they just change it slightly or pick a different name. Well, yeah, you don't want people to be doing this like well, which are you on Wilson? Exactly. Which Kate Hudson is it. There's a very famous Molly Allen. She's a producer for Oprah. And I think she's even won an Oscar. So if you Google, that's what comes up. And it looks like, wow, look at my credentials.
She's not like of she's just super well known in the industry. I think and like highly acclaimed, but but a normal person would know. But it's fun to have your name associated with all the awards and stuff. I like to look at the color purple. I don't get much of that with my name. No, you're one of a kind. Yeah. That's true. Davis, Pazito, who created the ice cube melting. Yes. The tradition and got shut down. The great melt off. I got kicked out of the Spokane fair. Yeah, we did get shut down. You know, you're not living until you're your shut down. Yeah. Right? Yeah. We had a lot of different things that got shut down. That was one. Yeah. We did, you know, we had people live on a roller coaster for 30 days. I do remember that. Yeah. Remember that. Yes. That was us. And one of the people got married. Yep. I vaguely recall that as well roller coaster wedding front page of the newspaper. Yep. I remember this. That was and then there was the hands on.
There was the car. But living it and win it. Right. People had to live in a car. And then didn't use the Super Bowl thing. What was that? It was like they all got in the car. But only one person ended up at the Super Bowl. Right. They get voted out along the Super Bowl survivor. Yeah. And then they had to take a bus home. Who voted them out each other? They all voted each other out. Yeah. Yeah. And we had different little games that they had to play along. Right. Yeah. I just was thinking of something else. And that was the question. Oh, the water runs dry. That was the one that it's very memorable because we had people. In the studio while we're doing the show, they had to drink a bottle of water like every 15 minutes. And then whoever could hold out the longest without going to the bathroom, they would win tickets to see boys to men. Water runs dry tour. Cleverly titled. Well, you know, we lost a few along the way.
But then what happened was they weren't, you know, they didn't have to go to the bathroom, but they just got sick. Oh. And one person was trying to get out of the studio and didn't quite get all the way out of the studio. And just. So that. This is like a pie eating contest scene. Yes. I think that's what I was thinking about. I was thinking about the scene by me. We've had well, and we and in high school, we had the root beer drinking contest. And that ended up in a all out bar for Rama too. Imagine this setting here. So imagine we try to do this. And then like Corey and those guys are out there. And all of a sudden the somebody comes back. I just fukes all over them. And they're. And they're dead. Well, they're trying to get their work done. I love it. What are you going to do? Like you guys need to come up with some new stunts. Well, they won't be anything like that. I mean, you're doing your walk. Yeah, we are.
Walks walk would be fun. Yeah. Ken and I walked to court lane. That's how we did that. Okay. Yeah, we walked all the way to court lane. And then Ken and I jumped in a icy pool. I'm sure John's listening this morning. He's the one that talked to him that it was a. It was whoever. It was medical. It was medical lake. It was February. I believe. And it was. Oh, no. Yeah. They cut out a block of ice. We had to jump into three feet of water. And I'm still mad. And this was 20 something years ago. I don't know. But Ken and I went and did it. I was just waking up. I know it was cold and cold with the bedroom. Like blankets on. He didn't go. That was. Yeah, that was that. And then there were a couple other things that we've had to do that are like. That was the worst though. I'll never do that again. That was. It was. It was awful. Yeah, that was good for you. That wasn't good for me. And I was in a. They said don't. Just wear the least clothes. Don't wear a bunch of clothes. You'll be sorry.
To me makes sense, though. It does. Yeah. But uh, so. Yeah. I'm in a bikini. And it's the same bikini. Like that. I wore a Hawaii later on that year. And I'm thinking, well, that's worth it. That belongs. But anyway, I have a beanty on and shoes. And I'm walking out on the ice block. And it was awful. I was like, oh, this is bad. Yeah, I got so. Yeah, there's been, well, one other day there are hands, you had to have your hand on a car. That was at the mall, right? You had to keep one hand on a car. And that was the one, you can have like a basket of your stuff. My friend Gina was working in promotions at that time and she had to oversee it. And there was a lot of like controversy. Oh, they took their hand off for a second. You had to monitor it and then people were in fighting Well, now in a day and age of, you know, how easy it is to have cameras set up. Yes, you could easily like do some replacements. Yes, a little different back then. Yeah, there is a different, you have to hold
different set of contests for the way things are now. Yeah. Anyway, yeah, well, John said, but did you die, Molly? You did not die. She's still alive. She's in the case of me did die that day, John. It died. But you know what? You have a fun story to talk about. That's right. And it's on YouTube. And she turned out fine. Yes, you're fine. We're always fine. So will we see you next week? Yeah. Okay, everybody's everything's normal next week. Yeah, I'm a journalist in town next week. Oh. So we're doing all sorts of stuff. What are you going to do? I'm actually, we like to tout Spokane as a base camp for fun things. So I'm going to take him to Rada, Hyawatha. I'm going to do that one day looking forward to that. So we'll stop in Wallace as well. And maybe if the Bordello Museum is open, the Wander through there, I love Wallace. It's probably one of my favorite small towns in America. I love it. We've talked about that before. I'm fascinated as well. It's just there's something about it.
I love it. And the architecture school. And I love that they outsmarted the federal government when they put the freeway through by becoming, instead of letting them plow through the town, they designated themselves as a historic district, the entire town. So then they had to, that's where the freeway goes over it. Because they were going to plow right through it and ruin the town. Wow. That's a cool piece of information. I like it when you outsmarted the band. Yes. I love it. So way to go, Wallace. But yeah, so we'll do that. We'll go eat something. Are your people back? Will you be able to do your run with your people tomorrow? No, they're still out. Oh. Yeah. So I'm on my own. Last week I ended up parking at the Spokane Club. And I did a lovely run through downtown on the Centennial Trail through the park, up through Gonzaga, up to the Mission Park area, turned around, came back. It was nice. Yeah. I don't know what I'll do tomorrow.
But yeah, what are you guys doing today? We're in training for our big walk. You know, we got to walk even half miles. I've trained, I've walked a mile, 1.2 miles the other day. I walked, sonctured. And it says split time, 21.1 minutes per mile. I do a brisk 21 minute mile. That's OK. Mm-hmm. So just keep moving. Yep. Yeah. Yeah. We're training for that. The weekend is pretty quiet though. Whoa, it's not the fair today. And football's back. Football. That's a big thing. Yeah. The other night was, I thought I was going to turn on Jeopardy and watch a little Jeopardy. Well, the more on that. Steadiest stumbled on a Seahawks game. And it was the Seahawks. And I actually ended up watching the whole game. See? And I was actually by the end rooting, you know, like, Jeopardy Hawks. So there you go. And I thought of you guys because you had asked me who I root for. And apparently it's the Seahawks when they're playing. Look at me. This is growth. Yes. It is. You're becoming one of us. I've seen, I've seen three whole minutes so far.
Of football. They played in Australia last night. And it just, there was something that looked like a college game. I don't know. There's something. I don't know. It just didn't have that NFL pizzazz. Yeah. They had 100,000 people there. Holy cow. Yeah. Yeah, I thought the stadium was pretty cool. The thing that was my biggest takeaway was how bright it was. Yeah. And maybe that's what you're thinking. Because I thought it looked great. And the parts that I saw. But it's rare that you see a game that's that bright. Like because there. Sometimes in Arizona, Sunday morning game will look like that or something. But no one ever plays in the morning. Yeah. Like, local times, it's like one o'clock is the earliest you're ever going to play a pro game. That's why I said it looks like a college game because they play early. I think maybe that's what it is. Maybe. Yeah. It was a, yeah, it had that weird thing. But football is back. It's very exciting. Yes.
We had multiple conversations though. People are getting upset. And NFL is right on that threshold of really pissing people off because there's, it's so many different streaming services. Yeah. I know. I don't know where to like, usually it was just on this. That's one of the things. And that's, that is a, that's a big thing. Well, first of all, where is the game? And then second of all, do I have that streaming service? And then you got to pay for all this other stuff. We had some friends that they, they have a team that's not a local team. So they buy the package to watch their team every week. Well, if that team happens to be playing, there's some, some deal where there's three games a year, even though they bought this full, they paid 500 bucks to buy that thing for the, to always be able to see their team. There's three games a year where they still can't see their team. What? Yeah. So that, and there's, that's just once there's a lot of people that are in that same boat
where it's like, well, I, I have Amazon, I have Netflix, I have all the, have ESPN, I've got all, and I have all the major networks and all, no, but this one is on the NFL network, only on the NFL network. Oh, that's an extra thing. That's annoying. That's how they get you. Yeah. So hopefully Regina is almost $500 for Red Zone. And don't they play commercials in the Red Zone now? Yeah. Well, they, last year they started, they were just the little side, like 15 second things. I don't know how my Red Zone is going to work this year. I need to figure that out because I, I was paying $10 a month for it, but now the Red Zone got bought by somebody else. And I don't know how. Oh, what are you going to do? I don't know what I'm going to do. And I'm actually very concerned. I think this is going to mess with my well being. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Shay says the, yeah, the NFL is going to lose viewers. This is ridiculous. Outgrain.
They manage streaming sites that the games are on now. I, yeah. And the Cougars play tomorrow at nine o'clock in the morning. Yes. So. A lot of football. It is kind of cozy. Oh, it's great. You know, so great. Throw up on the cow, cheat snacks. Soft pants. I mentioned soft pants are. Yeah. You get it. Did you invent us? You know what? The person who hired me at Visit Spokane is Tim Robinson was his name. He was married to Jane McCarthy. Oh, I love Jane. Yeah. It's her husband. He hired me. He was our, my boss for a time. And he was the one that said soft pants to me for the first time. And I remember thinking, so that's what is that? And then he goes, I sweat pants. And I was like, oh, I'm not a soft. I think that sounds like a nice thing to say. So now I have adopted soft pants. Well, and when she says that we always say, you know, we, if you credit for it. Yeah, we always credit you. We'll take the credit now. Because Tim's in Seattle now. So it doesn't, it doesn't matter. Here's a question.
Well, you go to a restaurant alone and eat. Yes. Well, you go to the movies alone. Yep. You go to the theater alone. Yeah. I think women are more likely to do it. I don't do any of those because I said, well, I said, here's the thing I would rather go alone rather than because they have a thing called foodie call instead of a booty call or somebody just wants to eat something else. Yeah. So you don't, because you don't, we don't want to eat alone. Right. So, but I said, I would sooner get the food and then stay in my soft pants and eat myself. Yeah. Right. But I don't mind going out by myself. Well, imagine with your job, too, you're going to be out doing stuff and you're going to be on your own in Spokane having to do. Yeah. But would you go to like what, like you, trying to think of a place that you would normally go for a restaurant like what, like with the family or with, you know, like, we go to the two seven. Okay. Oh, I was there yesterday. Okay. Yeah. So would you go to the two seven out by yourself? Yes. One hundred. Even though they all know you there.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Two years talking about earlier. So yes. Yeah. Absolutely. And then I was going to go alone to a place that I go often. Yeah. That might be. Yeah. And the bar situation is different. But like I like the, like the Rancho, the Mexican place that I like upon the hill, I just can't go there by myself. Really? Yeah. You go to debt. Like you leave here, you're starving you and they have a special at Denny's and they're like you can get 18 of this for whatever. Would you ever go and eat like a breakfast by yourself? I don't think so. I would pick it up. Really? Yeah. I'm going to bring it home. Interesting. Hey, speaking of that, we had food from Rosie's the other day. Oh, yeah. Have you been to Rosie's? Yes. Oh, my God. That was very good. Very good. We had it delivered and it was hot because it's so close. Oh, yeah. It was really good food. Yeah. It's, I like the looks of the place, but I've never eaten in there. Yeah. I ate there once when they first opened. Yeah.
It was fine. Really good. Yeah. That was a hearty meal. Yeah, it was, it was, it was good. Yeah, I don't mind going places by myself. I don't either. I kind of like it. And sometimes I like, I have enjoyed going to the movies alone. I prefer it. Just sit and, you know, snuggle in and eat. My I always get popcorn. I have to have popcorn. Yeah, I like popcorn. I don't. I don't. My thing is I end up with the kids most of the time. Ken and I have only seen a few movies. Our whole relationship we've only seen. I bet five movies together. Maybe it's always with the kids, which is fine. But if it's not, I would never call a friend and say, Hey, I really want to see this movie. Do you want to come with me? I would just go. Yeah, same. Yeah. Just easier. I think so, Dan. Where you want. Nobody just chatting at you. You're just talking at you. Because you can't talk during a movie anyway. So here, here's a situation. So you, like, you would be like me. Because popcorn and I go, come on. I'm already, but if I was by myself, and this would not happen because I wouldn't be me. But what happens if you have to go to the bathroom?
Do you have to leave your stuff there? And then you're going to come back and hope that no one is. No one will repeat you. You can't leave it. Yes. Nobody's going to bother it. See, I always have a blanket with you. I would be, I would be, I want, I need someone to guard my stuff. You can't trust me, people. Well, you know what? You just hold it and you're going to have to do all that. Last night we went to tomato street and you know, they have these chalkboards. So I took one of the kids up to the front chalkboard. Then my son had the other one. Well, we left the table unattended, right? We hadn't even dinner yet. That's the problem. He left his phone in the middle of the table on purpose. And he's within, I said, well, the bus boys come and just start busing our table. And I said, you guys, I said, what are you? What are you? I know. Sorry. We just realized. So there's like forks in his doctor pepper and the friends all this stuff. And he was still, he had his calymari basket there. And he hadn't finished it. And he said, I don't, I didn't know what happened. Well, so did they give you more?
Well, he didn't ask for more. I thought he was kind of done with it. But so, but the, but his point was he said, I don't know what happened to this while I was gone. Who knows what they were dumping in there? When you're busing a table, it's all, all hell breaks loose. It's just, you shut things and everywhere. So you need a garnered. You need a garnered. The kids were funny though, because we know, we know, really sorry, really sorry. I said, but I said, there's a phone in there. I see that now. I'm sorry. And then the waiter, I said, you would think the phone would have been, he goes, yeah. I said, thanks so. Well, but then we got fresh bread and everything. I was fine, but the gardening didn't happen. I said, you guys can't leave the table in a tent. Yeah. It's okay. Well, at least the kid was excited about his job. Yeah. They were very hard. They were enthusiastically busing the table. Yeah. Very, very, yeah. Okay. Well, duly noted. Mm-hmm. Guard the table. Guard the table. That was just going to bother you. Like, think about the logistics of it. It's probably going to be a not very crowded movie. It's going to be the middle of the day or something.
And who's going to go, oh my god, that guy's the sleepest popcorn. Oh my god. I've been waiting. I've been waiting for them to get on. I don't like just, I don't like leaving food and then coming back to it, you don't know what could have happened to it. I'm going to guess 99.9% of the time nothing. Well, well, exactly. It only takes one. Do you bring a blanket with you in the movies? No. Oh, I always have to have a, especially in the summer because they crank the AC. This is true. And so the kids, we always have our own blankets. So we just, it's like a big campground. We were all sprawled out with our, yeah. I like that. I got to have a blanket. They sell blankets now at the movie theater. Do they really? Very smart. Really? Yep. Are they 50 bucks? Probably. But they're like movie related, you know, whatever the, it's minions or whatever, it'll be a minion blanket, but they're smart because they, I think they saw everybody was bringing blankets in with them. Really? I got to get in on that.
All right, Kate. All right. We'll see you next week. Okay. Okay. Yep. Love it. We need to play the showdown. Molly will be in the hot seat today. I got the questions ready to go. If you want to play Molly, you got to check in with us via the Dutch Bros. Textline 509-448-3237. All kinds of different questions. Okay. I think you're going to score well. There's some over and under questions. There's pick one of these two kind of things. Just guessing you're going to be fine. All right. We'll see. Can I ask a favor this time? Could you write down the score? I'm going to write down. Okay. I'm going to be better. That's a problem. I'm always very upset. Listen, I don't think Dave gave you all the points. I don't think he did. Was he writing it down? I said, well, that, you could have discussed that with him. There was one mistake and it was because I was making either a line or a check. Yes. And one of my checks looks like a line. I've done that. That's where it's like I missed one and then there was the controversy. So everything is fine. Here's the other thing that will happen is that I'll make the line and then you'll go
back and say the right one. So then I have to go back and turn it into a check. And then that can happen. So it happens to the best. So happens to the best? But don't, my mom's going to get very anxious. I'm sorry. Very sorry, Ellen. Very sorry. I disparaged your daughter. I said she got crushed. Playing the game. No, very close, very close. Which is worth hiring a stripper or a guy. She's got way better. She was fine with the strippers. She's very worried about, she doesn't want me to be sad. All right, we're back after a break. This is the David Mollie show.
