Dáil Hears AI System Treated Clare Artist's Work As "Resource To Be Harvested"

Clare FM

About this episode

The Dáil has heard that the work of a Clare artist was treated by an AI system as a "resource to be harvested". Sinn Féin has this week tabled a motion aimed at protecting the copyright of Irish artists in the era of artificial intelligence. The bill has received vocal support from the likes of the International Federation of Actors, Danny O'Donoghue of The Script, and former arts minister Catherine Martin. Speaking in the Dáil, Shannon Sinn Féin TD Donna McGettigan says the use of the Clare artist's work in this way "reflected the priorities of an algorithm".
