Councils Decide on Sports Facilities in Rothley & Mountsorrel

Lester Shire villages of roughly and Mountsoro. Planning officers recommended approval for both, even though they have drawn both strong support and some pushback from locals. The first plan for Mountsoro Parish Council calls for a 10-hectare sports and recreation park north of Seaton Road. You would feature a cricket pitch, a senior football pitch, a children's play area, 25 allotments, a community pavilion, and around 70. Parking spaces. Part of the land already has approval tied to a nearby 200 home development. Meanwhile, Rothley Park Cricket Club wants to build a dedicated cricket complex at the writings in West Cross Lane that includes a new pitch, pavilion, clubhouse, indoor training areas, storage buildings, and more than 100 parking spots with electric, vehicle chargers. But some neighbors object, citing worries over costs and impacts, while one resident called one scheme a shocking waste of parish funds. Both sites sit outside village boundaries, clashing with policies that protect countryside and a green gap between Rothley and Mount Saro.
