Charne Woodboro Council has approved in principle plans for a 209-home development between Cysten and Thermiston in Lestershire. The project by Bellway Strategic Land includes two sites separated by land set aside for a proposed bypass. The northern site covers 11 acres off Barkby Lane in Cysten with up to 79 homes. The southern site spans 12 acres off Barkby Thorpe Lane in Thermiston and would hold up to 130 homes. These sites feature distinct designs to fit local surroundings. The Cysten area plans curved streets and a central green around existing mature trees for an informal suburban feel. Thermiston's layout uses straight geometric streets with a central urban green and a children's play area. Both will have tree-lined main roads, perimeter paths, tree buffers near the bypass, and possibly a linking footpath.
