Confounding the Mighty

About this episode

Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 1:27 that “God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.” The Greek word for “confound” (kataischuno) means to put to shame, bring to defeat, and utterly dishonor. The world’s self-styled elite those who view themselves as wise and mighty regard believers as foolish and weak, yet God has sovereignly chosen us to overturn and disestablish their arrogant rule. Our calling is to “bring to nought” the powers that oppose Him (1 Cor. 1:28), to be overcomers who break the ungodly grip on history and convert all things to Christ. Just as Christ is our unshakable foundation, we build upon Him with repentance, faith, and good works each act of obedience serving to confound and dismantle every false authority. The mighty of this world may boast today, but their plans are doomed; we who trust and follow Christ are destined to see them put to shame and to witness the triumph of His kingdom. #ConfoundingTheMighty #GodChoosesTheWeak #OvercomersInChrist
