Worry is one of the easiest and most effective paths to failure because it replaces trust in God with obsessive self-reliance and fear. Instead of solving problems, worry multiplies them, poisons peace of mind, damages health, and turns a person into his own worst enemy. The worrier carries a heavier burden in his imagination than life itself ever imposes, suffering more from anticipation than from reality. At its root, worry is a denial of God’s sovereignty and care; it assumes that life rests on our frail abilities rather than on the power of Almighty God. If a man trusts only himself, he has every reason to worry but if God is truly God, and if He has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ, then worry is both needless and destructive. True confidence, peace, and success come not from anxious vigilance but from surrender, casting every care upon the Lord who bears our burdens and whose everlasting arms never fail.
