Let's not put it past that. But I think the good news is we have a limited amount of time to figure this out, David. Well, it's a copycat league. It's a Monday after a commander's loss.

2:01Could have been a win. Maybe had some brainfarts, had some good stuff, saw some good things from the defense, saw very quiet offense for a while. I think that's going to be part of it for the first couple of weeks of the season. I mean, we talked about this. This is what happens sometimes. Offenses early in the season start off slow. You know, we spent a lot of time leading up to this game. There's a lot of time looking at what could be and what couldn't. And I think one of the biggest questions was, you know, certainly what this offense would look like with an offensive line that has its issues right now. And there's a lot of moving parts and a lot of new pieces and we'll get to the defense. We'll get the sunny styles. We'll get to some of the good that we saw. But we got to be honest here. This offense really struggled and it was some of it was drops. Some of it was miscommunication. A lot of it was also the Eagles pressure, which goes back to Melissa. This offensive line that the commanders are dealing with right now that isn't at full strength. And we saw the results of that against a really, really good Eagles pass rush.

3:03And by the way, they weren't even blitzing that much in the game. They were just getting natural pressure. Yeah, I think that this was a good first test, you know, for this commander's O-Lion, seeing what they will look like with a what we think as a healthy Nick Elegra. Man, some of those, some of those plays are just hard to watch. You know, like I'm literally like, oh my god, protect Jaden. Oh my god, the pockets collapsing. Oh my god, you know what I mean? I think that there were definitely some growing pains that we're going to probably see. I don't think that today or the yesterday rather is an anomaly in that at all, I think that we're going to perhaps continue to see this as they continue to figure it out. But again, I know that we love to overreact. And I know that it's week one. And I know that everybody wants to come out with a bang obviously. And it's a short, per-memory league, obviously. So what have you done for me lately? Kind of league. And that's how kind of we are right now, the society. But I do think that we will have to practice some patience, you know, but like I think that's acceptable perhaps for the first couple of weeks.

4:03But there's going to get to be a point when we get to when they go to London, it's going to be like, all right, where are we at? What's off in some line? Are we good? Are we bad? Like what are we going to be this season? So that I think was what we all expected, but man, it was hard to watch, you know what I mean? In terms of actually seeing it play out against another really, really good defense. You know, I think that this was a solid, good first test for them, David. Yeah, I mean, look, I think there's a lot to take away there from the offense. And you know, starting with the offensive line and I'm one that kind of takes PFF grades with a grain of salt. But what I don't mind doing is comparing PFF grades from one unit to another, because at least I know they're being graded on a similar or the same scale. And the commander's offensive line comes out 21st in the league in past blocking efficiency. Now granted, not all 32 teams have played yet. So that could shift a couple of spots here or there. But 21st in the league right now, one sack credited to the offensive line, 11 total pressures. Not great, but at the same time again, you just kind of hit on a lot of that Melissa. It's the first week of the season.

5:05You know, Nick Alogretti is still getting back into the fold of things. You know, Chris Paul and Brandon Coleman are your left, your left side of your line, so Laramie Tonsel and most likely Brandon Coleman, I believe in. There's just, there's a lot of yeahbuts and a lot of qualifiers that can you, you can use to explain this. But I think at the end of the day, it's just about understanding that's the time of the year that we're in right now is there's going to be all these qualifiers. And by the end of the first month is really when you can start to tell what is this team going to be for the long haul in my final preseason, like pre regular season, not preseason, a pre regular season episode of Lockdown Commanders before we got this thing rolling. I said in that one of the keys to this first month of the season was exactly that. As this team cannot wait until after the first month of game. So coming back from London, like you said, to figure out who they are. They got to know who they are. And to me, they needed to know who they were coming into week one. And I have believed that they did, which is why I had as much confidence as I did that they could go out there and go toe to toe with the Philadelphia Eagles two time defending NFC's champions, Nick and I will tell you this, even though the Cameras came out with the

6:06loss, I feel like we saw an offense that knows what it wants to be. A defense that knows what it is. They do have a lot of things to clean up, obviously, but they were a handful of mistakes away from proving me right. And because of that, I think in spirit, they proved me right anyway. So I'm happy with the display that we saw in week one, I'm not happy with the level of execution, but the better news to all of that is nobody in that locker room was happy about it last night either. Well, I hope so. I hope nobody walked away from this. And I mean, listen, there wasn't like a mention, some brain parts, defond digs, forgetting that you can't hug the goal post. I mean, that I listen, it doesn't guarantee that they would have converted a two point conversion if they didn't have that penalty. I mean, it's hard to play that game, but it does exist in our minds, at least as the thought right. And after the game, he's like, well, you know, I forgot, I've been in this league a long time. Well, they actually made that a rule in 2014 before he got in the league. So it's not like he was actually in the league when that was actually legal ever, but it is what it is. But he did have a couple of drops, dude. Jane Daniels was just 18 to 34, 164 yards did have a couple of touchdowns, but really

7:09a rough start. I mean, the drop were a problem. The incomplete passes just in general and a lack of accuracy. The time was a problem, but so was the Eagles getting after the commanders and look, we knew this. Like we knew the offensive line in general was going to be a question mark. And we knew that there was a chance that you were going to get to a point where you're watching this team going, oh, the offense isn't clicking yet. It kind of went exactly the way that I expected. And really, it was a closer game for the most part, even giving the circumstances of, you know, where this, this, this offense was Melissa that, yeah, there were times where certainly in the first half, specifically, Jane Daniels versus Jalen Hertz. Jalen Hertz looked better. I mean, it, it was just be real. He did look better, but it's not like this was an offense from Philadelphia that blew them away. And some of that's a credit to the defense as well. But, you know, listen, the, all the spotlight is going to be on Jalen Daniels no matter what. And after the Bears put up 59 points with Caleb Williams, we know the comparisons are there. It's always going to be there. Nobody should read in in this is one game and, and assume that this is what it's going to look like the entire season because there's a good chance that it's not.

8:10But you do have to wonder about certain play calls and certain situations. I mean, the chance for a two point conversion again, late in the game. And it's a shovel pass to a third string tight end. I mean, that's, yeah. And I see your face. I see you do it like, I, Jane Daniels, the right thing is that after the game, right? Like that's, you watch it and go, that's, that's not a good play call. I know, Jalen said, no, no, it should have an execution. No, it's about like Tom Brady, son of the block has, it's about the stars and the individual players in that play call, not the actual play call itself. No, that was bad as you witness my, I mean, that was kind of my reaction when I was watching it in real life, you know? So I was like, what, what something that was something went awry there? That was obviously not what it was supposed to be. And look, I know that again, first week, you know, first game of the year, there are a lot of things that go into it. But oh, my God, I just, I can't. Yeah, no, that's a good very point to the comment there. Terry, you know, Terry was being pretty heavily doubled the entire time, you know?

9:11So I think that he didn't get a lot of opportunities as he would have wanted to, I think. And yeah, game one is always, I say, pre season four, pre season 3.5, you know, especially that first half because a lot of these guys haven't really played, you know, a lot of pre season, if at all. I did see, you know, the, the taunting penalties and stuff like that, that, that, that kind of, that may be mad. I'm not going to lie. I know like week one, they tried to really harp down on it. I saw taunting penalties being called, it's so many games yesterday, you know, that I picked up highlights that I watched. And like, you know, I get it. They want to set a precedent from week one. They want this like not be a thing. And like I was going back and forth with these things. You know what I mean? Like, let's let, let's let people have fun and stuff like that. But I get it. There are rules and whatever. But it's just a fun. We've been doing this for too long for, to make a little mistake like that. You know, onto his credit, he took accountability for it. Jade and kind of said, like, you know, we got to be smart about things with kind of, like, you know, poking at me like, yeah, don't do that without actually directly saying it.

10:13So yeah, obviously a lot of these headgeners are going to be on a jade. But again, it is just week one, you know, but the thing is it's not really going to get so much easier from here on. Obviously, I think that maybe the silver lining in some of this is that the Cowboys didn't exactly look spectacular yesterday either on Sunday night football against the Giants. So I think that that is, that is the silver lining here, perhaps that maybe next week, they'll have a little bit more time to do some fine tuning. Yeah, I mean, I think that is a silver lining that you're facing in Dallas Cowboys, defense that already wasn't good and certainly didn't look good in its first outing against deep or with defense of coordinator, Christian Parker. Now I do think the Christian Parker is talented enough to get that defense trending in the right direction. So you can't necessarily say, well, week two is going to go better because week one didn't go well for them. This I have, like works obviously as we all know, but you use what the, you know, you use the information you have to come up with the best angles you possibly can. And that certainly is one of them. Another one of them is you guys mentioned the Stefan Diggs drops.

11:15PFF credit him with three drops all last season. He had two in the yesterday's game alone. And the thing about those two drops is they're not just significant because it isn't anomaly in Stefan Diggs's history. I think like three of the last four seasons, he's had five or fewer drops in fact. So he's definitely not a guy that drops a lot of passes. So not only is it anomaly, but the also the context of when they happen as well, at least one of them at memory serves. I don't have the tape pulled up right now, but at least one of them would have been a first down. Both of them came on drives where they went three and out. And the commanders went three and out five times in total yesterday on offense, including three of their first four drives of the game. So getting two of those three and out is converted into first downs and not going three and out. You can't guarantee like you said, Nick, you can't guarantee touchdowns there. You can't guarantee field goals there, but it gives you more reps to go out there and get into rhythm. Right. If you convert that second down into first down, now you've got three more plays. Now you're running at least five plays instead of those three plays. And those reps start to stack and those things absolutely matter. And perhaps you see that offense get into a rhythm sooner in the game rather than later in the game.

12:19All those things come into play getting the ball at the 41, then at the 44 and not being able to turn it into points at all. It's absolutely not the way you want to go. And you know, it was kind of a, it's kind of a trending storyline, Nick. As we went through training camp, I started noticing in my notes a lot where the offense was start slow, pick up the pace. And early I was like, hey, at least they're correcting in real time. You know what I mean? It's not the next day they were better. It's in the same practice. Yes, they struggled early, but then they started to pick it up. Well, it continued to be a trend. And it got to be a trend so much in training camp in the preseason was like, okay, but now it just looks like this is an offense that doesn't start fast. Then we get to the first game. Again, it's only one game, but when you stack the trend of training camp on top of this one game where you see this offense again, come out sluggish, come out out of sink out of sorts. And then as the game continues, three of the last five possessions the commanders had, even though they turned that 41 year, 44 year, possession into zero points, three of their final five possessions, they produced scoring opportunities. The opportunity to go out there and win that game. So you love to see that be kind of go back to, okay, but what about that first half?

13:22Even though you got the field goal in the first possession, what about that first half? Didn't click that did click in the second half. David Blow has got to find a way to take that magic potion that comes out of the locker room and and stir that bad boy up into the Gatorade pregame because they can't keep doing this, this thing that we've been seeing for over a month now where they start slow, pick it up at the end. You just can't, you can't survive that way in the NFL. All right, let's do this. Anthony Armstrong is ready to jump on. We'll bring him in next get his thoughts on the game and what happened. 16:39We want to talk about a win. Not going to be the case, I guess here. We've kind of unloaded a little bit in what we saw and look, you know this man, like there's not. You don't want a panic after one week, but we definitely saw some issues with the offense. And I think those are issues that we kind of expected in some ways, right? I mean, the offensive line has his questions. The Eagles were getting after Jaden. There were some drops. There were other issues. And of course, the brain fart from Stefan Diggs, but you know, in the end, they lose by two. We could make the argument that, oh, well, they had a chance for a two point conversion earlier in the game. And well, he had another chance and shovel pass was the decision they made late in the game. It's there's a lot to certainly unpack. You're just from the offensive side of it first, but you watched it. You're here now. Your thoughts on the game. You know, not upset with their performance. Obviously it was a little disjointed, took a little while to get together, but it wasn't, you know, 55 to whatever it was two couple years ago. They were in a chance and they gave them, they were in the game. They gave themselves a chance to win. Ultimately, they didn't get the W and they are just too far gone past moral victories, right? We're not going to give anybody

17:40pets on the back and say, hey, good job. Get back in there. You know, you did you think it was a loss at the end of the day. It's going to count as one no. And then you got to get back on the back on the saddle, go up against Dallas. It's going to be, you know, trying to make sure they write the wrongs that happened to them later on that evening. So just looking at it, what the offensive side just kind of gets you to say it was looked like a rookie versus a vet, right? A rookie OC versus a very seasoned big fan. You know, you can you try to try to find out what was the plan versus Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis. And, you know, I would like to see maybe some more stretch and more, you know, outside zone scheme because the running game was starting to come alive a little bit there. But, you know, what they went with it didn't work fully. And you talked about Dave, you were mentioning them starting slow and then coming up fast the second half. It seems like you have to they kind of want to see what they're getting and then make the adjustments to it. So let's see you going into week two with a week worth of tape from Dallas.

18:41Can watch them come out a lot faster this time with something that they've game planned against rather than trying to guess what you're going up against with Philly. So I would have loved to see them dictate more plays rather than try to, you know, call something randomly. It didn't seem like it was connected a lot of times. I totally agree with you and I'll be I'll be honest with you. I did not I have not yet watched the Cowboys Giants game. I saw the result really happy with that result. But I was a little bit busy interviewing people who lost the football game and doing all those things and locked on commanders. So I wasn't able to watch that yet. But I do plan on watching because obviously it's important. It's important film or broadcast tape. Whatever I'm going to watch to watch right because it's the community next opponent. But what I'm seeing coming out of that game from people who are, you know, cover the Cowboys do those things is they basically didn't feel like Christian Parker was aggressive enough. Right. And Anthony kind of what you're talking about kind of seems like similar type stuff. And obviously we're talking about two first time NFL coordinators to first time coordinators in general because at least Toronto Jones has coordinator experience.

19:44But we're talking about the college level, big time college level. But basically Cowboys fans and media are coming away saying Christian Parker just doesn't have the group clicks doesn't have isn't necessarily coming out there unleashing everything. David Blok kind of seems to be in the same boat. And I know it's weird to say that because we see some trick plays. I mean the shovel pass option the power option all this up. It's kind of a trick play in itself. Right. So it's like is he really not, you know, unloading things. I think right now there are certain moments where David Blow he like he thinks that right hook is the right thing to throw, but his fighters not ready to throw that thing. Yeah, he needs to go back to a job. And that type of stuff is part of the feeling out process. Right. So the question a week two is going to be. Do you do you which which of those coordinators figures it out the most into week two. Now that they're going to figure out completely. Just in general, right, both these teams week 18 are going to be very different. The next time they see each other from week two. But which one takes the biggest step this weekend. That's going to be the key difference. That's going to be the deciding factor between new wins this game.

20:47Because on the other side of the ball, you got good against good. And we were having this conversation in the press box yesterday. I'm actually curious to know all your guys opinions on this. Who is the better. Overall quarterback, that press got her jail in her. Because I know Jalen's got the athleticism and in the danger there, not that that can't move if he needs to. And but that I think most people would agree is the better like traditional quarterback. You know, making those plays in the intelligence and all those things. But which of those two is most dangerous to you against the commander's defense. You got good on good Dallas Cowboys offense, commanders defense, which is not something we've said in the last. Ever since I started covering this team. So this is a little bit new. This is a little bit new and actually it was really new to see Jalen hurts convert that third and 17 right 13 17 18. With that's way to your scramble and be disappointed. Because in past years, it was usually oh, third and 17. I wonder what 18 year play they're about to run because that's pretty much how this worked. So it was a good feeling to be disappointed in that moment. But anyway guys lost off there to unpack. But I think the Cowboys and the commanders on opposite sides of the ball. They're going to face each other this weekend.

21:50Are in very similar positions. And again, I'm just curious. You guys thoughts. Did we see the commanders play a better overall quarterback? Because you had to throw the asterisk in their asterisk in there for the Jalen hurts and let it's us. Or is there a harder competition coming up this weekend? So the commander's defense needs to take another step forward. Hmm. Passing wise, I'm saying this deck because he's going to stay in the pocket longer because he's got better do overceivers on the outside. You know, he's going to let something happen and then throw it up to a George pickings or to a CD lamb. You can still got to put respect on Jalen's name. He's obviously got a Super Bowl. He's won a lot of games in the league. He had one on Sunday. But yeah, I think he's still going to take that press guy. You know, he had that tough throw that that kind of errand, you know, throw he tried to, I don't know what he was doing, but it got picked off right on the sidelines. So he made his mistakes too. And ultimately that's what missed. That's what Washington was missing on offense and on defense was a play.

22:51They didn't make any plays that were really going to help set themselves apart or fairly was able to make about three of them. So, you know, who is going to make that play, right? And it's not, it's not calling the flea flicker just to call the flea flicker because it's a flea flicker, right? It's because you've set some stuff up to do that, right? You've had to run the ball to get Zach Bond and the linebackers give a damn about the running attack before you go with play action, right? So that's that's what I'm looking to see how they how they match that up and how can David blouse adjust his game playing against the Christian park and you had a soon Christian parker is going to come out aggressive too. You know, they're both probably thinking that same exact message. So it's going to be a good match up for sure. Melissa. I am going to go with Jalen. I don't know. I think in big game situations and all that. I think that Jalen her I would take Jalen hurts over DAC. No disrespect to DAC. Obviously he is showing himself done his experience all that. But as like a game manager and to be able to like command and offense, I think I would take Jalen hurts over DAC press got

23:57This is just solely based on the quarterback alone, you know, and to be able to make those plays and to feel the movies feed a little bit more. But you brought up Anthony the commuters defense and like somebody think brought up the secondary as well in the comments. I mean, I think that the secondary would have probably liked to have played better. I'll put it like that. You know, I think that there are some plays that were some big touchstones that were given that they would like to have back. I'll put that actually I'm really nice sense. I'm trying to not like, you know, be like, oh my god, you were terrible because you know, that's like not what I do. But I think that the secondary is going to go back and watch the film and be like, oh, like we we need to be a little bit better, a little bit faster, a little bit more Play a little bit more man, you know, I just I don't I don't know. I just think that there was a lot to be desired in that sense. But yeah, that that is just kind of my Stance, we haven't brought this up yet either, but the kind of the special teams playably that's going viral the Tyler Owens.

25:03Oh, yes. Oh my god. I saw Michael Irvin do like a reaction to it and stuff like that. It was just great. It was just perfect. I think I had read a comment somewhere that was like that was the most Punishing thing that you could do to somebody like within the rules like, you know, so there's a positive, you know, I'm trying to look at I'm trying to be a little glass exful here and all that it's week one. That was a huge positive. I mean, Tyler Owens just earned himself Who knows what? But Followers. I played that much. Yeah. Yeah. That's true. That was the same man. I'll may not remember the name because Seem Ozgood He used to play receiver for or a San Diego and then he went down and played Gunner for Jackson. He was one of the one of the first like he's like six five receiver playing Gunner and he used to just absolutely wear people out out there on the end. That's what that rep looked like Melissa. He was Tyler Owens. That was a play right there, man. I'm showing him. I'm showing it to campers who don't even watch for you. What is this? I'm like, I'm like, what's this? It's watch this is this is how you break through and get somewhere. Yeah, that's the type of attitude you got to have. I was also on the game. There were a lot of things that's on tape that are

26:11Teachable and they're fixable. You know, they're teachable and they're fixable when you compare it to last year and I'm thinking about the Raiders game where suckers were just running wide to hell open. It wasn't a lot of wide to hell open. There was some folks that were open. I think you got to play a whole lot tighter right here, but I think you just got lots of teaching on lots of learn on, but you have to adjust yourself and you have to make the improvement quickly Nick. You got to get right back into it. Because Dallas is not in a way they're trying to put up 50 points. You know, Tyler Owens in that play looked like he was going against campers the way that he just bullied through everybody on specialties. Man, that's going to be that's going to be a highlight. We see the entire season and you know that that plays to effort and that plays to certain guys that are going to do those little things. It's going to then trickle down to other players on the roster like it sets an example of a level of effort there that you didn't necessarily have to, but I mean, damn, that was a hell of a play. But you know, going back to the Jalen Hertz, then you brought up Melissa like he looked a lot more comfortable in this offense for the Eagles. And I know it's only one week, obviously. And again, even the good early in a season doesn't mean that it's going to translate throughout the entire year, but the one thing we know is that Jalen Hertz has had to adapt to a lot of different offenses over the years and it does feel like this might be a better system for him than at least it was last year. But you know, Philly was in a spot.

27:27But they just didn't have a good offense period. They looked like they were down a touchdown at times they couldn't score and come back in again. And it was just it was over at this point. But you know, I, I will say this. From a good on the offensive side for the commanders, Antonio Williams. I mean, Antonio Williams shows that he belongs and Antonio Williams shows that he's going to get some targets. Four catches on four targets that one. I mean, the touchdown that he had to be able to just hold on to that ball and not let it move when it tapped the ground. So it counts as a catch and to touchdown all those little things. I mean, he never dropped any balls in college. And we see that example here. And that's a for a guy that had fans and non fans when he was drafted. Right. Some people wanted a bigger receiver. Some people wanted somebody different. Some people wanted defense. Again, this draft was debated in a lot of different ways in terms of where this team could go. Because they had a lot of needs for catches 64 yards and a touchdown on four targets. Antonio Williams Anthony is it's a good debut for a guy that now is going to be, you know, listen behind Stefan Diggs and behind Terry McClure and technically on the depth chart.

28:31But he may have earned himself some more targets moving forward. Oh, he has definitely earned some more targets. A lot of it is because I think, you know, coming in, we knew that it was like get there and get Terry to ball, get Terry to ball. And teams are still going to slow try to slow him down as much as possible. I mean, Fangios like, let's take away the deep ball and make the guy try to pick us off. Pick us apart underneath. Antonio is going to be able to create some matchups and get some one on one. He's going to he may be the person you have to start and run the offense through. Right now, doesn't I'm not saying he's your why receiver one, but he's the guy that you play to get the early wins to get your quarterback in rhythm to get the offense rolling. And then when they start to shift things away from Terry or from Stefan Diggs, now you go back to to those guys to a 17 to number three. So Antonio played well, man, to be able to grab that ball, hell, I mean, I from speaking from 43 years old, I would have pulled something trying to bend over and cast the ball like that. Okay, I'd have been making so many noises to try to and catch that ball. So I commend him for that. Now to be critical. Come on five. Let's not make it that hard. Okay, let's not make it that difficult step into that throw and make sure it lands easily.

29:43So there's no controversy. But Antonio Williams is going to be a very valuable piece for this offense. He's going to stay healthy. I tell you that much because we think we had a couple guys go down with hamstrings. So he's going to get more run. He's going to get more burn. Yeah, we also need to see somebody else for the tight in the room show up to to match to match his play. All I heard was Anthony Armstrong say the offense is going to run through Antonio Williams clip. Yeah, yeah, book it. Book it. If he's the one getting match up early, it's like, sorry, David, but I was watching the UT and the Ohio State game. And it took them about three quarters to figure out that the tight end was their match up. It was the one that was open and they could start to work the offense through to make something happen. I'll be real. I turned that game off and I came back like, oh crap. Something. Oh, wait a second. It's different now, right? So that's the thing. Like David's David's going to learn that coach, but I was going to learn that he's going to figure it out like you come out and you plan for something.

30:47And then if they're not giving you a look, you want within that like that first drive was deceiving because they drove what eight, nine, 10 plays and they got a field goal. And you think you're going to be able to do that all day. They're making adjustments to, okay. You got to just continue to make your adjustments and tweaks and it'll work out. It'll work out slowly, but yeah, if it is Antonio Williams to start today, I'm not mad at it. Let him get the first couple of catches and then open things up after that. No, no, 100%. I got to give it a hat tip to the full command podcast. That was a great job over there. It's a fan podcast, but dude's very smart about what he's looking at and what he's talking about pointed out that Antonio Williams played a less than 30% of the offensive snaps in week one yet he came away leading the team and receiving. And look, you know, every time you got on the field, he's a guy that I'm excited to watch, which is evident by my Instagram feed because all my videos and training camp are Antonio Williams running routes, but there's a reason why he was one of my favorites. He was in the NFL draft. There's a reason why when they drafted him, I was super excited. I was surprised because I thought they're going to go a different direction.

31:50I was super excited. I even tweeted at the pick that my favorite guy on the board is Antonio Williams, but I don't need to comment on that way. So when he did super happy to be wrong in that moment. And I think Anthony, you point out something really, really smart, which is not surprising considering your intelligence of the game, but something the Dan Quinn also talks about to all the time, right? The Jabs. He talks, he uses this boxing and sparring, you know, analogies a lot because I think it translates, right? It translates to multiple levels. One of them is the jab is what you set up with the jab is what you do to set your opponent up for everything you want left hook, right hook, upper cut, double upper cut, 6523 combo, whatever you want to do to your opponent, you set it all up off your jab. That's what David blouse got to find. What is his jab and it's not just on David blouse on this office to show him, right? You talk about setting up the flea flicker setting up the shovel passes. Those are things that you just have to learn through experience. Those things you got to go into the trenches and unfortunately you hope to learn those things are winning, right? Here's why the flea flicker worked so well. Here's why the shovel pass work so well. We got this win and you learn the lesson and you continue to build on it. Sometimes you got to learn through losing. You know what I mean?

32:56That's just how life works and sparring boxing football. Any type of combative environment is the same way. Sometimes you're going to learn by winning. Sometimes you're going to learn by losing David blouse. I guarantee you and I said this to another meeting memory yesterday. There is not going to be a soul on that airplane whose eyes are more wide open during the entire 35 minute flight, whatever it is, then David blouse. I promise you promise you promise you from the second day of the blouse gets on that bus to the second his butt his head hit the bed last night or this morning. He was doing nothing but studying and taking away whatever lessons he possibly could that's going to continue in the Monday and Tuesday. So he can use that to build on the Wednesday. So you know those are valuable experiences, those are valuable opportunities for him. But yeah, I think that that's that's kind of what you're talking about it and that can be Antonio Williams or can be stuff on digs. As long as it's not reshawed white draw play on third downs. Any more than we saw on on on week one week one. I will be okay and shots my guy shots my guy. But man, if I saw one more third down draw play with shot white, I might have screamed in that press box Melissa.

33:59Yeah, no, I think again, a lot of excellent points across the board for sure in terms of what it is that we need I mean listen if we could all fix what's happening here like in a matter of a week in a matter of less than a week like five days like we would not be sitting here right now. So I think there's a lot to take away like we keep on saying. And I think that you always you know we're not necessarily going to judge by this game alone, but obviously judge in the how they approach week two right this game against cowboys and also what I did like though, it's like I feel like on defense to they did make some of those adjustments at halftime and coming out of the locker. You don't know me and that's what you want to see I think too in terms of the progression of how these new coordinators are approaching this right. So I think that that part was important to the defense. I mean, I wasn't upset at the I think the defense looks eons better than we could say last season. You know what I mean, I think they look a little bit more aggressive, little bit more violent if you want to call it that.

35:01You know, I think they were just really like a better getting after the ball and getting after Jalen hurts and I think that we saw a little bit more of that in the second half at least up front, you know, and in the middle of the field. So I think that those are things to look forward to for sure. But again, I think we will judge by how they how they play against the cowboys and you know the week to week progression of how are they going to improve. I don't want to touch on sunny says much because I know what in the next segment, but I think that he was such a bright spot. And I think a lot of haters that were saying like, oh, he's blah blah blah blah whatever he's not that great. He's whatever he's slow. He's whatever. I think that he told all people to sit down and pay attention. So there's there's that there's that too. Melissa, that is what a professional does that is a great segue. All right, listen, there is always going to be a level of criticism around any rookie, especially when you see very, very little in the preseason. We talked about this, right? It's like they're not going to unleash them. They're not going to show a ton. They want to get them out there and just learn the speed and get an opportunity to have an understanding of what it's like to play in an NFL game, even though it was the preseason. Well, a lot different against the Eagles for sunny styles. How to sack, how to quarterback hit. You know, they were he was getting after guys. He was making plays for total tackles, three solo tackles. I think pretty damn good preseason or preseason pretty damn good regular season. I think you for sunny styles, Anthony, I still got preseason on the brain because, well, you know, this is what it is. Look, he's going to have his moment where he's going to look a little lost. The game is faster. He's a rookie. It's going to happen. But he's also going to have his moments where he shows that athleticism, that speed, that high football IQ and the stuff that this team really expects from sunny styles.

38:14We got that Anthony in his debut and it should be a very promising debut for anybody that might have been worried that thought, oh well, sunny styles game can't translate to the NFL. Well, clearly it is possible with what he did against Philadelphia. Sunny styles is going to be just fine at this level. You know, I didn't even see that clip of him getting the running over sequin and then getting the sack. I saw that on Instagram. Oh man. Oh man. Like there were enough. There were more Instagram highlights that where you made it feel like the score was different in our favor. But sunny's going to be all right. Man, he's going to be just fine. He's controlling a lot of the middle. I think where his best is his biggest area of concern. And this is said to come into the game. I was like him and then linebacking core versus versus the tight ends and Dallas got it. Like how do they really learn to navigate those areas. So that's going to be one one challenge that he has a deal with all season. But yet let us as a mosaic. The speed is there. The violence is there. He's going to be just fine. He's going to make plenty of football plays for us. They like to coach hard over there. So they'll get things cleaned up.

39:19They'll get on the same page. But yes, sunny styles is the truth. You can you can go ahead and get his jersey. If you are waiting to make sure if you're going to pan out. I think that you can hit. Yeah, pay on your car. So you just go ahead and hit shipping and send it on over sunny styles is the truth. David. Yeah, look, I mean, you know, I say this because I feel like I can because I do our national show for locked on. Listen to local coverage more than you listen to national coverage. You know what I mean? And don't be wrong when I go on locked on NFL. I try to be as smart as I can about whatever topics we're talking about. And I leverage the knowledge of those local reporters and the people on ground covering those teams that we're talking about on that day. And it's important to do but not everybody cares that much. And I think, well, so I say this, I don't know what every local reporter has been saying about sunny styles during training camp in the preseason. But I know we have been saying inside the media room about sunny styles. And that is that the national narrative about him being a bus and not doing well and doing all this was way overblown. And honestly kind of ridiculous.

40:21So I'm confident at least that those people are going on their respective platforms and sharing the same thing that I was sharing on locked on commanders and on commander squad as much as possible. And that's sunny is going to be fine. Sonny's going to be absolutely fine. So seeing what he did yesterday, not a surprise for anybody who has been up close and personal paying attention to what sunny styles has been doing, including those of us here. And of course, over a locked on commander. So happy to see it because I know the sunny admitted to everybody, which I, you know, I applaud him for his transparency that he does see the criticism. He sees the comments. He sees the media that the fans, whatever. But guess what sunny also see sunny also sees the fan support. He also sees the local reporters that are not out here buying into this doom and gloom disaster theory and all this stuff going on around them. And I think that matters as well. And you know, the message I always try to give the fans Anthony, you can back me up on this. When you're negative players just block you out because I have to they don't have a choice not even it's not even do I want to block you out. Do I not like you do it this. I just you're not healthy for my process. When you were supportive, I'll embrace you because now you are helpful to my process. So there's two ways you can go about being mother's three ways you can go about being a fan being incredibly positive and incredibly negative and just watch the sink and game.

41:32You pick the what type of fan you want to be out of those three only two of them are going to be embraced by your favorite players. The other one's going to be ignored. So I mean, you know, if you want to be ignored by your by your idols, that's your decision. Continue to support the team. If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter Melissa. Okay, so I've been doing this job for a minute and you know, and chatting with guys in the locker room, whatever for a little more than a decade now. And so my number one thing that I always tell the guys do not search your name, go we aim any of that stuff during the season, maybe even in the off season, but during the season, get off social media, you know, because it's not healthy for them for this is not just, you know, exclusive to athletes, but this is exclusive to like, you know, human beings too. Like even if you like I had a player once that told me that he's like, no, I like to read the negative comments about myself because it helps me like feel the fire and all that stuff. I was like, no, no, no, no, but just for your meant just as a human being for your mental stability, even seeing that negative step about yourself, you're still consuming it, absorbing it and that is not good for you, you know, at all.

42:40And you know, this player ended up getting traded to another organization and he's doing like, okay, but I know that that man is still sitting there and searching his name on Twitter every single day. Do not do that, you know what I mean. And like at the end of the day, I know that we're fans, we love this sport so much, you know, and it brings us so much joy, but it also brings us some of our lowest lows. But at the end of the day, sometimes I like to tell fans and you know, just the general media, just a general people too. Like you got to think that they're also people, you know what I mean at the end of the day, they also have feelings and all that stuff and you know, obviously they're a lot more physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually stronger, more disciplined than a lot of us are. But at the end of the day, I mean, what is that going to do for you to tweet at Stefan Dates or somebody be like, oh my god, you're terrible on that one, like, you know, on that penalty, whatever. Like, gave me what is that, what is that going to do, you know, maybe I'll help you get some of your frustration, especially in this day of social media where you literally we do have direct access. Whoever you are to technically DM some of these guys who are on social media platforms, you know what I mean, just let's just let's just I'm not saying like we just sit here and hold hands, it's in kumbayans and like then people are not like, you know, not open to criticism, but like let's just perspective here, you know what I mean, let's let's remember the big picture here a little bit and in that long winded way of saying sunny styles for him, you know, I think that he's so mature for his age, like it just carries himself in a way that is beyond a 20 a young man.

44:0320 a young 20 something year old and like he we've I think we talked about this last week, but he knows that week one sunny styles is not going to be the same as week eight sunny styles even week one to week two sunny styles is going to be different. And so because he knows that I think that he is going to be able to take some of these constructive criticism things to heart and be able to learn from it and at the end of the day, the only person's opinion that really matters are the people on the team, you know, and the people his coaches. So I am excited to see not just the growth of as a player, but like as a person and how we get to sit here and witness and watch him develop into this great player and great human being. Nick. You know, I know there's always going to be concern when you draft somebody and you know there's going to be a spotlight on him every single week, but I think it's a great point is like look they're all human, but like you want to be careful reading too much about what's said about you as you know an athlete, especially when there's not a lot of a sample size either.

45:04I mean, listen, Bobby Wagner is going to be a future hall of favor, think of all the criticism he got last year, you know, now I get it, he was terrible against the past, but he was still a guy that was arguably their best defender. All right, besides sunny styles, who stood out for the commanders on defense and maybe just a little bit of an early look ahead to the Cowboys game next it's commander squad. All right, so listen, we all know sunny styles played well, but I got to be honest with you guys, I was really excited to see what Nick cross did Nick cross looked like a guy that belonged on the defense and you know one of the things that I've said that this front office really has to prove is that they're ability to identify talent, whether it's through the draft or in free agency.

47:31They got to show that it's it's a high level and they we haven't seen that consistency yet and again, some of it is you know guys are only have only played one year only played a couple of years and there've been some injuries and there's questions and there's a lot of factors you could put in there. But Anthony, I'll be honest with you man Nick cross is somebody that really stood out to me, I thought Frankie Lou Vu also played well before the injury and you know I I see promise in this defense and it's been a long time since we felt that way, but I really do see a much more aggressive defense. It's got some traits of Brian Flores and what they're doing in Minnesota obviously with you know the the the DNA within this defense that Dorante Jones is built, but I see something here that may also have to and this was kind of my prediction before the season might have to carry them a little bit honestly if the offense has its sputters to start the year first couple of weeks. Then you're going to go against Seattle week three in that defense, then you go on the road to London, even though it's supposed to be a home game against the cold like this defense may have to pick up the slack for an offense that's got you know some things to work out a little bit here, but we've seen some promise from some of the guys out there.

48:33Oh yeah, they they got they have the pressure up front right with anything inside the box seems to be able to affect the quarterback me husband one one game, but Nick cross eight total tackles five solo two tackles for loss. Dude had 16 tackles for loss last year, I think he was what led the lead safety is maybe one of the heights in the league in that regard. So Nick crosses a tone setter. He definitely physically physically he is imposing on the field so you can see him like who the hell's run around 25 about the knocks on by his head off. So I love seeing that so he's dangerous around the line of scrimmage. Obviously, hey in the passing situation, the passing game will have to clean some of that stuff up, but the pressure that they can get up front has been it's it's up lifting right it's up lifting now you just need to make a couple of plays whenever you get your hands on the quarterback right you need to be able to knock a ball out of his hands. Because you don't get to play you know Houston could be cubie every week where he's not just dropped the ball for you so how how can that front seven be the blitz the linebackers Nick crossing and the defense of line rest of the crew.

49:43How can they do something else for this defense because yeah, you're right Nick they are going to have to do some of the heavy lifting. They're going to just have to hold it down they did they did enough this week right keep you in the game keep it close enough so the offence can get rolling. Now I just want them to make a turnover so seeing that happen David that's going to be paramount this upcoming week. Talk about generating turnovers are two plays two plays one of them would have been in turnover. But the other one I think three weeks from now would have been a turnover the first play Jalen Hertz goes left side and it was the font a Smith if I'm right it doesn't really matter who the target was but he goes outside the Monta Smith. Past rush has been getting home amigur Robertson reads it sees it clicks on it just a little bit too slowly and I talk that up to first game new system like you know I mean like everybody's learning a little bit here. Three weeks from now I think amigur Roberts in that same situation I think he clicks faster than he closes faster and he picks that thing off and I'll tell you right now if he gets that thing he's going to the house and obviously the washmaker's wins game. The other one Charles and many you gets a bad it past right we all we all go crazy for nine year good game for Charles men you by the way two pressures on just 29 snaps the entire game and they're not all 29 past rush that's just 29 steps total for Charles and you so give some love the number 90 gets his gets his big

50:57little bit up there bats ball down great play here's the thing he's going to he's going to hate when he sees the tape for soul Douglas had that route beat. If if Jalen hurts gets that ball past line of scrimmage or soul Douglas picks that thing off and that's a big interception the commanders needed that time again you can't nobody is asking Charles a man you to know that when he's in the heat of the play nobody's asking to take that back but that's just one of those things where it's like just the breaks of the game. They're not communicating that well where they're like hey just FYI keep your hands down as a day. School for school should be like hey I got this beat Charles don't know that I've had to clarify when I say this because the last thing I want to see is a fangle quote crazy on to go Charles a man of you cost for soul Douglas an interception guys like that's the last thing I want to happen but we know it could happen anyway. But we're so Douglas man like he is one of the stand as I know a shout out Charles many who he deserves a lot of praise for soul Douglas when the stands out only big play he gave up only really I can't even say bad play but bad play for the defense in general he gave up was a dime from Jalen hurts and look they're going to be plays every game where the offense just good defense good position.

52:02Offense is made a better place covering the Montaix Smith he's man to man he doesn't have any top coverage help Jalen her drops it in the bucket there's just nothing you can do about that play if you're a soul Douglas but other than that I mean lower in the boom. On a dude earlier in that game like you mentioned Nick Cross living in the backfield Frankie Loubu playing on fire I've been predicting all preseason offseason the Frankie was going to be re unleashed in this defense it was great to see hopefully that groin or anything Frankie is a groin hopefully that injury is not too serious we can see him on the field in Dallas although soft tissue like there's a lot of guys on this on this we got a way to see what DQ says at 3 o'clock I don't want to catastrophize but there's three or four guys on this team that I don't know we're going to be able to play against Dallas we might wait six months. Yeah I definitely agree like Frankie was going to be my guy that I mentioned to because you obviously can be talked about this last week to both in the absence now of Bobby Wagner who is going to be the guy that steps up and Frankie I think has spoken. For himself both on the field in off the field in the locker room as well in terms of what he's been doing but also I think I should add yet is we kind of see the recent I love talking to this man is gone Kim lot you know because he kind of like in suits that whole be violent get after the ball get after the court like I get after in general.

53:17And I love, I just love him on the field, you know, because he makes things happen, you know, he causes chaos and I think that's what you want in a leader especially on your D line, you know, and guys that are going to be up front. So I thought Javon Kinla had a good start of what we hope to see is to come. I think Daffa had some moments of brilliance, or Daffa O.A. had some moments for sure. And Leo Shenal too, I think that he had a pretty solid game as well. So I think that those guys might not have been like the stars on the stat sheet, but I think that they did a lot of things to create some problems for the Eagles offense that I think should be taken to account. But Javon Kinla would probably have been my pick of all those besides Frankie and Sunny in terms of the guys that truly made a difference for this defense yesterday Nick. You know, the hope is now you're going to see a less potent defense on the other side of the field if you're the commander's offense going up against the Cal boys. He didn't look great against the Giants.

54:17It was great to see Jets and Giants by the way, both starting 1 and 0 for the first time in what feels like 162 years for New York and New York football is struggling for quite some time. Look, we know the Cal boys made a lot of additions to the soft season defensively that you're going to be traveling there if you're the commanders week two. You should feel at least a little bit better given that they did not look like clearly this Eagles defense did, which look we knew. Seagulls defense was a lead last year and they showed it again even though they were a little gas at the end there. Dallas is not in the same position, Anthony. And I get it. They've got more talent. I get Caleb Downs makes some plays and things like that. But I think this is an opportunity for the offense to get off to a better start against this Dallas defense week two versus what they had to deal with against Philadelphia week one. You want to start off quick and then one thing I learned about being with that with the Washington organizations at this game means more than anything. These Washington Dallas matchups mean more than anything. You're going to get a quick rundown of the history of the matchup and then you take it all into Sunday.

55:18And with both teams coming off bad performances in week one, you can expect, I expect some fireworks for sure. I think the offense offensively for Washington, you definitely want to come out and finish what New York started. New York was playing bully ball. You may not have a 300 pound fullback, but maybe that can be Julian. Good Jones help put him in fullback and let him motion around like Patrick or Crab did, but you're going to have to start the game. I think being physical, you know, or at least find a way to get the run, be a part of your of your game plan. Like I said earlier, outside zone would be great. Let's see a little bit more fat man getting involved. They let's how bills started out the game, but starting out physical will be big because you're going to have to give your defense some breaks this time, right? You mentioned it. How many five, what five, three and outs last time, 30% on third down this past game. I think you got to get a little bit closer to 40 to 50%. If you can get a 50% on third down, that's absolutely amazing. But if you can keep your defense on the sideline against a very potent offense, it's going to be extremely helpful.

56:19Obviously, we love you get some touchdowns over field goals, give that kid nice short kicks to Nick, Nick, Nick Steven, give him some nice short kicks from PATs to go after. But ultimately, I think the defense is going to show up. They showed up last week. They're going to have a hell of a hell of a draw with those receivers outside. So you know, they're going to get tested. So offensively, you have to play defense, right? I don't think I don't want to see you. I don't want to see you. I don't want to get to go and try to stay on the field and go for it on fourth down and try to extend the game that way. But I do think that the offense has to make sure they make their point and make their presence filled in this matchup, David. Here's the thing about this watch smears offense 70 snaps in week one. 70 snaps. Not the most in the NFL. I did see at least one team in 75. The Arizona Cardinals 75 snaps. How the earned the card was right where that come from. Yeah. Let's yeah. Ben Johnson, Chicago Bears, Caleb William, like they had, I think they had 75 snaps as well. So not the most in the NFL in week one, but 70 snaps.

57:19Think about, think about what you're doing to put 70 snaps on tape in week one. When you have five, three naps, right? Like, like this, this offense, like that right there, that data alone tells you, this offense got all the potential in the world. Like this offense has staying power. They have the ability again, you know, three three out of five score, three out of five drives in second half, we're producing scoring opportunities, all this other stuff. It didn't come together in week one, but the potential is there. And if you're going to tell me coming out of week one, that the weak spot of this team right now is the offense led by a healthy J Daniels, I will take that. I will take that every single season. If you're going to tell me that's what this is. So that's what this is for the watch. Commanders man, the sky is the absolute limit for this team. That being said, do you need to see some different things next week? K Tron Allen for carries did really good with those four care. I think you got 16 yards with that's a clean four yards per carry. If I'm right on that, love seeing him get some burn there, especially after the bill, fumble bill. Bro, got hold on to the football.

58:20But you love seeing K Tron Allen get in there. I think K Tron Allen gets more reps, just like Antonio Williams gets more reps next week. I mean, you go for four carries, not getting crazy here, like six carries. I think for K Tron Allen, but what you can start to develop there, going back to end of the year point about setting things up for the future is get that one to punch because listen, Rashad White, he's a change of pace back compared to bill, but any kind of pace you want to change to, right? It's a little bit slower. It's a little bit more methodical, a little bit more plotting without all the power. K Tron brings the power. And I think he's faster than shot as well. So he could be your change of pace back. He could be your bruiser again, go back to the boxing allergies. He could be that that that crosser when you have the jab with Bill and allow you to really kind of open up some of those combinations, but you're not going to throw him out there day three running back. We're here. You're not going to throw him out there into the deep end that early. The Dallas Cowboys defense clearly not the Philadelphia Eagles defense. I think the front isn't as stout. So Nick Allegretti, he's got a chip on his shoulder. And I'm you guys saw the quote, Mitch Tishler, monumental sports, I actually included it in my WSA 9.com column or story.

59:21If it didn't get edited out, I don't know right now. I think I did it. But Mitch Tishler, monumental sports had a had a very candid conversation with Nick Allegretti. And I'll be honest with you, I wanted to talk to Nick as well. But I saw them talking and I was like, this looks like a really good conversation. So I'm going to back the heck off. And I'm glad I did because Nick was very candid with Mitch and very honest about especially that two point play by him missing the block. I honestly, I give Nick, I'll get a lot of praise like for that because Nick is also a person who does see some of the things that people say about him. So for him to be vulnerable in that spot and be honest, it's hard to do as an NFL player. Anthony again, you can back me up or correct me if I'm wrong. It's hard to be that way sometimes because of the environment you live in. So I just want to give a lot of praise Nick for that. But that means, okay, one, he knows it too. He's going to fix it three. He's going to come in that game with something to prove. And Nick is not the kind of guy who overcorrect, right? Trying to try to prove something. So I expect a better game out of Nick Allegretti. Sam Cosme balled out. I expect that left side of the line to be a little bit more in sync as well. As you're getting more reps, Josh Connelly Jr.

And that obviously goes in line with past protection. And Dave used did an excellent job of re, re figuring out like what the offensive light needs to do. But I mean, just give this kind of chance. Like, you know, I think like we're also like, at least I am for sure. Like itching and hungry to see like what he is capable of to prove that. I don't know if it's to prove, but you know, to say that, hey, last year was just a down year. It was a fluke. Let's see rookie, you're jaden again. You know, I mean, to see the abilities that he has to really use his art. You know what I mean? And to use his like, and to be a game manager, you know, just all these things. So I just want to see Jayden give Jayden a chance to really prove to show

1:02:24like what he's made of and all the hard work that he's put in in this last year and a half, especially being out in Dres last year, because you know, at the end of last year, he came back because he wanted to come back. Like, you know, I mean, you could see it in his face. And so I think that just just give this guy a chance. You know, that's what I want to see this week to make some of those brilliant plays that we'll see on Instagram over and over again next week. That's really all I want next play in simple.
