Now at Potdogan's music culture and grassroots venues are at the heart of a new program

and live events coming to Potdogan's in an astymian autumn cushion with the future nine

nights of live bands, trad folk songwriting, electronic music and more from the 2nd of

October to the 14th of November with artists from Claire and across the country and joining

us on the line to tell us more is the venue manager of Potdogan's Jack daily jacket

morning to you.

Good morning Ellen.

Thanks for being here for having me on.

Yeah, no, thanks very much for being with us.

You talked to us about it last year, but for those maybe unfamiliar with push out and

can you just give them a sense of the idea behind the series and what you're hoping to create

a Potdogan's.

Yeah, thanks.

So, push out and basically is it really is our autumn run of gigs here in Potdogan's

so it's nine nights across seven weeks and it'll be everything from live bands and tried

to electronic music and club nights.

But for me, the big thing really is bringing an Irish artist into the small rural town of

End of Diamond and you shouldn't necessarily have to go to go a Lindmerk or Dublin to

see these artists and it really only works because the people that come through the door

year in, year out whether that's regular music lovers and just all the people that come

to the venue to dance their socks off from one weekend to the next or whether that's

just lending their ear for this more intimate gigs.

It's great.

And certainly, you know, stylistically or when you think of different genres of music,

you've ticked quite a few boxes as I alluded to, which I guess you know, it is intentional.

How have you gone about selecting the artists who will play this good show?

Yeah, I think, you know, the lineup is kind of a better reflection of what Potdogan's

set out to achieve weekend, week out.

So in terms of trades, it's still huge part of the place with Tresho D and Bart Leaver

here every Monday.

And then we've John Lillis and the Sunday spinner DJs and Karen McCormick and Shane Mahuna.

Club nights, live bands, open mics, quizzes, creative events.

So like we're what we're trying to set out with the coach, Alan is just for it to be

a reflection of what we do, weekend, we go.

So having all the canvons and ultinor Brian one weekend and then some new sharps playing

a techno set the next week.

It actually feels pretty natural to us.

And that's what we love about working here is just that every week is kind of a little

bit different.

Yeah, and then personally speaking, Jack Delighted, C, or Brin and one of my favourites,

the Corks, Cycloc Band, the Altered Hours as well, very much looking forward to that one.

And I guess when you approach all these artists, whether they're from Claire or elsewhere,

are they delighted to play somewhere, a town or a venue that maybe they've never played

before or rarely played an opportunity to be put in front of a new audience?

Absolutely, yeah.

They absolutely love coming down.

It's always gassed me kind of when you're talking to these people and they're going, I

don't actually get down there and you're just like, it's not particularly difficult.

There's no great difficulty.

You get to Ernest and you get on the road to Ernest Diamond.

A lot of it starts with the artist I've seen live myself, whether it's going to see them

at a gig or a festival.

And you just approach them and say, look, with the venue blowing in the diamond, we love

to have you down.

And more often than not, there's been or there's heard of someone who's played a gig there

and there's no real strategy to it.

More often than not, it's just people having conversations and saying, like Ed's note,

the music scene here in Claire's is phenomenal.

And that in itself is the calling character of these artists to come down.

So the fact that we have a space here to let them perform, that's just the other half

of this.

Are you kind of hopeful and maybe you've seen this in previous years, in terms of the

audience, you're hoping it'll attract?

Do you get a mixture of regulars maybe in around end of time and you're like checking

out that whatever's happening musically, but maybe dedicated fans of each of these acts

will come from farther afield?

Yeah, for sure.

We definitely notice people don't from Clark and go in Limerick.

But none of this, none of it happens in a vacuum.

It's really, we depend so heavily on people coming from the Hinch and Stuyman and Lister

Mverni.

And one thing I would say as well, we're so fortunate to have neighbors in the locality

that are so supportive of us trying to do something like this as well.

So big thank you to all the neighbors in the area.

Okay, just for a little bit to go, Jack, in terms of if people want to head along to it,

is there an overall Kushan ticket?

Is our tickets ticketed individually and if so, where can people get them presumably

event price or somewhere like that?

Yeah, everything is on event price.

You just need to search Patogans or Kushan.

There's also a direct link through our Instagram bio as well.

And one thing I will mention as well, Alan, is like the room is quite small.

So if there is something you really would want to go check out, I wouldn't believe in

it until the night after last year.

Most of the nights actually ended up selling out a day or two prior to the gig itself.

So I'd highly encourage people to book an advance and they get a cheaper ticket that way through

event price.

Yeah, I'd reiterate that as well.

It's a small venue which lends itself to great gigs, but it means that you do need to

move in those tickets.
