0:00Hello and welcome along to ClareFM's sideline view. It's very clinched with you for the next hour. Coming up on the show, we will look ahead to Clare's final group game of the national hurling league when Wexrid come to Ennis on Sunday and St Flannins are bidding to bridge a 20-year gap since their last appearance in the Dr Croke Cup final. We hear about Clare GAA's latest recruitment drive for referees. We look ahead to another busy weekend of handball, we preview the opening games of the Fei Junior Cup and we will have Greyhound Focus too. So Clare round out their national hurling league group stage campaign this weekend when Wexrid come to Zimbabweim at Parkesog and Clare 5 from 5 so far. We will look ahead to the game in just a moment but we will get the views of Colin Ryan now in an overall sense, Colin Anderson league campaign. Victory is obviously the main part of it but I suppose they will be thinking about a lot more than that. Yeah and I think the performance levels have been good throughout the league. I don't think there has been any point where you know they've dropped off massively. You can see that there's

1:01seems to be a lot of changes to personnel every week, week in, week out. You know Brian has given a lot of lots of chance but Clare is just doing what they have to do and Wexrid is a good game, no kind of comment towards the end of the league where you're coming up against, you know, Liam McCarty opposition. They're coming up, they'll want to win and you know obviously Clare are looking towards the league final which means you're going to have another good game in another couple of weeks so it's, while it's not the most ideal preparation for Monster Shampchip throw to whole league Clare have done what they're done but they're finishing out with a couple of strong games against strong teams where you know they can kind of ramp up and maybe secure a 15 that they're comfortable with going into the first round of Shampchip and that's I think where they're at at this point. You know they've had a lot of injuries and a lot of stuff going on they've unverted you know a few lads that may be up to it but the litmus test will be the first round of the Monster Shampchip and seeing you know who's able to contribute from the first

2:04round because there's no there's no hiding place when it comes to that. How hard a balance can it be to strike between given a feather his chance but making sure that there's an experienced head beside him like take the last night in in Dr. Colin Park in comes Jamie Milan but alongside him and the half back line is Davey Mack and Colin Milan two brilliant leaders two brilliant guideers. Yeah I think I think it's actually been wanting the Clare management to be really good at this year. You know you can see that if you know they started John in the game with Nailo Farrell beside him they've obviously started Davey Mack there. They've had 20 in the forward line sometimes and obviously they you know whether it's an injury or whether they give him a rest last week they've had Mark Rogers they are constantly Dave Reedy comes in to bring a bit of experience but then you've shown me and then you've you know said and done for it in around the place. I think they've got a nice mix you've obviously Ryan Taylor playing midfield with Jeremy Stretch behind him the last I've aside him the last couple of games I think they've mixed it up really well and there's kind of a couple of lads getting experienced players getting game time into their legs but they're

3:08not necessarily being counted on weekend week hours so it is making the other lads stand up and be counted and feeling a few spots and yeah I think the Clare management have done it really well but like you know you could you can plan all these things out I think the plan has been really good but you know undoubtedly it'll be the first round of the monster championship when people will say yes or no to whether this is a good experience or not for Clare. Yeah and I suppose the selection of Nailo Farrell that we've got a lot of people by surprise because you know how heavy a scoring forward he has been for Bradford and underage for Clare and then like Nail Kilroy or Ronin Kilroy sorry the kind of midfields of all of us because we were talking when he was coming on the pitch about how he's a busy middle-thord player and all of a sudden we saw him coming in for Connor Cleary the day he made his debut like so they're not afraid to throw lads into unfamiliar areas either. No and I think you know if you look back at historically you know Brian kind of did that with Jack O'Neill as well they did it with Ed McCarty you know I think it went back as a good solid foundation for somebody coming out to the field and good ball players really in your back line is what you

4:11want and you can see there with Irma drawing on up the field the last couple of years and being such a score and trash somebody like Nailo Farrell could do the very same so you know I think they're looking to see what options to have in different places because you know when Davey Mack or when Junkun and have been injured in the past and especially maybe Cleary you know we haven't had a lot of options maybe for those positions so I think they've been looking at maybe where the holes are that we need to fill and trying to see can we get lads that you know can fill those if if injuries are our personal changes need to be met from what you've seen are red or herred so far what do you think are the positions that are still up for grabs oh god like I actually think if you sit down to pick the third team right now with five people you'd have five very different teams you know I really do and like I think there's probably there's probably a half forward spot up for grabs and so probably an inside forward lineup first up for grabs there's probably another midfielder you know the partner to probably Ryan Taylor or you know I definitely an option coming off the bench and there's probably a winged backspot and possibly a corner backspot

5:16I would say there's probably somewhere you know every line of the field looks competitive at this point in time so you know the players would be looking at it going you know there's opportunities for me you know they really seem to be building and I think we're getting the fruition of maybe all those underage players coming true now that it has really good essence e-programs throughout sort of like the Jamie Moilan and Naila Farrell and all these lads Jack O'Neill are already just step up to let their letticism need it into county hurlin right now and I know you're mentioned there about it not maybe from in terms of the level of opposition coming into monster championship but like from a mindset perspective and Brian kind of said this the last night they're now on a run of winning games compared to what it would have been 12 months ago and if you look at water for its trajectory in the league not going great lots of question marks after the performance again the last day could momentum be a big level or by the time that comes around yes for sure and I think the one thing about clearest performances in this league and this is what's kind of heartening for me is that they've kind of they've kind of gone about their business without any real drama

6:18you know like there hasn't been really a game you know better the Dublin game maybe where you know they were unsure when in the game you know a lot of them were were good performance they pulled away when they needed to they came out of there and they kind of went yeah job done let's move on to the next one you know sometimes when I when we were caught back there you know when we were back to 1b a number of years ago historically like I remember going up to entry when we drew with them you know like we were like and you're coming out of there and you're feeling like absolute crap and momentum is down I remember going to carol we were looking to win the game you know like so like performances were poor and you're going to these places with care of kind of done their business and they've got out of there you know they've got their work done in training and then you know they seem to be building momentum and the confidence seems to be high and competition for places is really high which is obviously a really really important thing but also haven't seen the country like going to places like Cushion doll lovely spot carlo you know a wet new bridge all the rest of it doesn't make you didn't value a sunny day in turlis a little bit more I sure of course it does of course it does but like you know what in your hurling career

7:22like going to places like that I you know I find memories of going to places like that and the bit of camaraderie that you would have you know going into especially going up to entry you know we don't get enough opportunities to go up to such a hurling you know stronghold historically you know in terms of its history and and everything else that goes with it so it is a really good experience I remember going to down as well you know like they're just they're different experiences for these young players and you know they probably experiences they would never have had going up would underage hurling probably playing most of the monster teams around so you know I think it builds a bit of a a bit of culture within the team they realize maybe how important it is to those areas and when they come back then they're hopefully ready for for the monster championship but I can I can imagine at this point in time now every player has their eyes set on the first round of the championship and a lot of people have been maybe surprised that we've seen so much of what we would call maybe the the established players and it's interesting to get your thoughts on this as a free taker from a Mac Rogers perspective we were trying to think about myself and Tommy who's seen a lot of road now this year in that clear of him car and we were talking about a common home from car to the last night probably

8:25seeing him hit between 50 to 60 if not more freeze we couldn't think of more than one or two that he had missed so his confidence is up but just the fact that he keeps being selected is that nearly more about the movement that's needed within the other five forwards when Mac goes out to put whatever part of the field to take a free so that everybody knows where they have to fill in the gaps for the pocket that's common listen it's something I've been kind of happening on about for a number of years clear really needed you know a consistent top level free taker that's probably guaranteed of his game I think Mac is getting to that stage of his career where you know he should be last in the 60 minutes and for him to get all the league now with with with that experience behind him is going to be absolutely brilliant for him because he's going to the monster championship known he's the first choice free taker you know like known that it's anti-shoulder known that is able first and just having the confidence to go with it so I think it's invaluable to our team to know that Mac Rogers is our free taker and you know I think it's something that maybe in

9:28in the last number of years has been a small issue for clear you know they've missed a couple of freeze here and there when maybe they changed over to free takers or maybe when somebody wasn't playing and you know I really do think that you every top to count the team has their top free taker and then you know you have your your couple underneath that obviously if somebody gets injured but you know he needs to be number one he needs to be playing the last and he needs to be in freeze in competitive action the last yeah and then of course we'll go over confidence the game against Wexford then like Brian Lohan makes no apologies for what he wants to keep winning games he's especially proud of winning games in Parkinson's so we expect another all-out assault here in terms of the first 15 yeah I think so I think so and I think maybe he'll be wanting to test ads up against maybe a stronger opposition with Wexford so let's have a chance be kind of the last real big litmus test I suppose before maybe the the earmarked team for the monster championship you know in a league final so there'll be a couple of let's probably with opportunities couple of let's get around half the bench but I do think Claire are probably

10:33building a bit more of a depth in their bench as well you know that maybe we can bring on any for John Collins as a star can you imagine John coming on you know to the field when when needed so like you could possibly see a return of Shenard Daniel coming in the next couple of games as well you know playing a bit more action so like I think Brian is just going to go for whatever day I think is best for for the first round of the championship and seeing what minutes they need to get into the legs of players and and everything else but currently you know I see them thinking nothing but you know trying to win in Qzy Park trying to keep in the momentum and maybe you know get a lead title along with it and you know that's probably the best preparation that they could have asked for a gun in Tom monster championship it's all they could have really done and also the way it has worked out like Wexford are coming up needing to win so you know for short and certain Keat Russell is going to have his crew driven to come on up the road yeah and you could see Wexford attitude even against Dublin last day you know there's a bit of aggression and a bit of fighting and everything in it so you know I can imagine they'll bring that up to Qzy Park on on the weekend and you know Claire will have to match that and it'll be great

11:35preparation for for the league final and go forward just if I can count on a word before we go because we're going to be turning very sharply to talking about same flannins versus presentation Carla Jatin Roy wouldn't to be fantastic over the next couple of weeks we're talking about a clear team going to Crow Park for a college as final led by Bogler yeah of course listen flannins have been have been you know doing really well in recent years they've been bringing true a lot of players for Claire Hurlan and no better man than Boggs to lead them and obviously along with the coaches that are in flannins so like they're putting a lot of time in drum one of the things I would have always said is you know does does the calendar need all these players to be going back in again you know in after losing a monster championship but you know it is a great experience for players to play more schools Hurlan with lads that they may never play with again or they may play Claire Hurlan with again so like all these top quality games are really good for them but they will have a tough game in the in the semifinal but it'll be fantastic achievement

12:37if they could get the the the Crow Cup final and and go and try and get a bit of silverware because you don't often get the chance in your in your school square to go and do that yeah look at the farm from last year semifinal for Ratten Roy hasn't worked out too badly does a certain rabbit and niland that has shown at senior level what they're able to do so while there'd be disappointed with that last that was a quality team as well like yeah of course it was of course it wasn't them lads can you know you can see that they stepped up to the senior hurlan very very very quickly you know gal we will be using those two trophy championship this year and you know to have that quality up against you last year you can see the levels that they were at push you know it comes down to their preparation and their their attitude on the day and you know flannon seem to have built a big a panelist go with it where they have options and stuff like that obviously they're dealing with the with the loss of their Kennedy there at you know it's in the back and they seem to be doing that okay but it's you know loads of players seeing loads of competitive action you know it's probably good preparation for for even the

13:40they clear 20s were all these lads are going to hurt with each other again yeah exciting times ahead that's for sure Colin thanks for joining us there and speaking of Saint flannon that's where our focus now shifts as they go to kill bacon tea tomorrow afternoon to face presentation college at some rye for a place in the doctor croak cup final that decider is set for Saint Patrick's Day in croak park something manager brinden buggler feels will be a massive target to aim for massive incentive I suppose heading into the weekend you know it's it's it's it's rare I suppose clear holders get the opportunity to play in croak park or shab yeah I look at it's a huge carrot it's a huge incentive bush I suppose that's the that's the outcome we just have to focus on as well as the process and and working on our own performance and hoping that we deliver a really good performance that will that will see us get to croak park bush yeah look at as I said it'd be it'd be great for clear holders for clear players to get that opportunity because as I said they're they're fuel fair and as you say though a massive task ahead

14:41of that then a lovely little ground in kill bacon tea may not be quite croak park but the views out over towards these clear are as lovely as anything and this will be a huge occasion well yeah yeah we're looking at our full focus is on this now ever since the the hard to final and with the goal of getting to croak park and going on a step forward and dash and yeah we're looking off the last day against kick any CVC but look as we did enough to overcome that game and it's just look at the boys are really looking forward to this to see it has a great opportunity great chance and but in order not to but in order to need to be a lot better in the world last day for to get the opportunity to play and call park bush lots of big occasion and it's going to be held in a real good pitching to bacon tea and ice stand and not a great thing for a match like this and in terms of character like it takes a lot of character to come back from a disappointing final loss it takes even more to dig in in the last five minutes and get those late goals the way the lads did so like that was hugely pleasing to see it's a that was and we kind of knew that

15:43we knew that it was always going to be a huge challenge you know that you can see the CBC team was a really strong team with six or seven you can be under 20s in the ranks so look at it was about going down to venture and getting the job done and getting to another and semi-final and and we don't that bush there are huge aspects of that game where we've learned from because it just wasn't good enough I suppose at this level and you really have to be honest with this level you know if you're to get to to get to any other final you know you need to really perform in an lads semi-final so yeah look at the short character writing great trope the year from the very first game that we would have played back in up to over against Neena coming from 11 points down there's been latter games where we've been really questioned trope maybe haven't performed as well as we as we were a whole bush with control due to that character and that resilience and looking at any team that you're involved in that's a huge trade to have and yeah I know this it's obviously a turnover every year and all the rest of it but still and all there'll be a lot

16:46of familiar lineups shall we say from the two teams that would have met in guard last year so a nice little bit of revenge on the line at the same time I look at that again that it was there for the take and for us we performed really well in the first half and took a big guard they got on top of us in the second half and I suppose we just didn't have enough time to to really minute the in bush you know that was a really really good at the right team and yeah we've seen them we've seen them this year in a kind of final and and they were really impressive against La Cray as well so there there a good team with a lot of really good players little right trope their rights and yeah we've a couple of lads ourselves that were at that stage last year and they know it's so hard to get to this stage so when you do get that opportunity you're really going all out to hope to take that opportunity and yeah as I said it's a big big game for I think it's a big big game for Clare Holland and it's a huge lift to encourage Holland and Clare to see the same plans team you know we're out in the field in Crawl Park it's 27 years since that happened since any Clare school team I think we're

17:48out in the field in Crawl Park so it's a huge day it's a huge occasion for the lads but as I said our focus is isn't on the old comments on the process and we know ourselves that we have to be really on a two to beat the second right team it's interesting you say that about the Clare aspect too because I remember talking to you after the toilet game in the park and you said exactly that that this is a great day for Clare Holland to have two teams in a hearty semi final like in a county sense what a positive couple of years it's been yeah I think it's really important to have the school in Holland going well and and it is an equal place at the moment and you know it's been it's been it's been back born by what's happened with the development squad as well and it's just important from Clare Holland perspective that we do have screenings that compete at the latter stage is that these competitions be it hard to cope be it's just so important that it's taken seriously and that the people respect the fact that it is a really important competition for these players and then in their Holland careers because they don't get too many opportunities like this Porsche yeah from Clare Holland perspective to see a Clare school compete at this stage

18:51is massive and you know the guy is no adash and to know they they they I suppose the the importance of getting to us in our land semi final and hopefully getting to my land semi final and you know what it does for the wrong clubs and their families and the pride that comes with that and it's all really important it's it's just important for Clare players to be playing at the latter stage as these competitions and and hopefully win enough and I know it's only half an hour up the road and it's a busy weekend for people going to hurling matches but with your other hat on you've seen loads a Clare supporter on the country for the seniors it wouldn't be brilliant to have a packed killback and he stand with with flannel and support on Saturday now we don't love to see it's like if the Clare supporters are brilliant to drive on I suppose any team that's representing that's representing the county and at this stage you know we are representing the county so we'd hope to see a load of Clare support on the compete at your HM if I can keep that Clare hat on you for just one more minute because obviously it's a busy weekend for yourself I'll be thankfully a home-based one for for once maybe there's been a lot of road scene but

19:52rounding out this league campaign on Sunday with promotion secured a very pleasing couple of weeks absolutely yeah absolutely look at the one of our goals at the start of the year was to to get back up into the vision morning and you know we we we went out with the boat of business I think reasonably well and we've got the results and we're back up there and you know we've seen plenty of guys getting opportunities as well which is really pleasing and let's perform and yeah actually it's kind of cranking up now to championship preparation and we've begun the weekend in the park we've only had you know we've had Dublin and we've had Darwin and it's important that we put our best put forward and we did ever performance and we want to keep winning games and that's really important and with two games before the championship and we're looking for real you know two real good performances to lead us into championship and a real positive one that would be that not only have leds got their chance which this management team have always done the ball has been given their chance but each and every one that's been given their chance this year have taken it and put in big big performances so at a pick in the 26th for waterford

20:57is going to be a fair headache for you guys yeah look it's a good problem to have um absolutely it's a good problem to have and uh look at Claire have really really go players and the attitude of the players the attitude of the group is is hugely positive and it's just important that we're keeping going is I suppose injury free and um leds are available you know you can really really have real quality in-house games 15 and 15 and and that's where leds are putting their hands up you know off of inclusion in the weekend and uh you know it's correct you need that competition you need that real competition for um you know panel members driving on the first 15 and um and and leds that are going to come on as well so it's it's it's it's massively positive but the attitude is really really good which is the most important thing the views there of Brendan Bogler ahead of both games this weekend both of which you can hear live here on Clara Femme so indeed really looking forward to what is an action packed few days ahead more to come here on the show do do stay tuned now you're welcome back to sideline view here on Clara Femme where I'm delighted to be joined in studio by Claire G. 22:00intercounty referee Chris McGuire Oswald Stons and Ashona leds thanks for coming into the the basic premise of your chat I suppose Rory is to call out for new members of the cloth as it was once described to me by Michael Telti a man that has been wearing the cloth for many many years the new referees course underway are about to be launched anyway we'll talk about that in a minute but I suppose it has been a week of discussions within Claire G. A. referees circles thankfully all started now and games going ahead the weekend them all the rest of it but you might just give us a quick rundown I suppose of of how things happened and how they played out it's easy to give your rundown it's something really that we review every year and it's just at the time of this year was a little bit off and discussions went back and forth for a little bit and by the time the refs got to meet with the county board until they got themselves started out they weren't prepared to take on games weekend and for me probably the only disappointment was a couple of those minor league games weren't taking charge of at the weekend we couldn't we couldn't take it you know unfairness could take a charge of those and discuss it after but look it's

23:02done now we started out in the following one days pretty wasn't done in the Friday or maybe the Thursday but that's the way a panda out couple of the games didn't happen and it's done now everyone's happy and thank god we're here to discuss get new guys of the cloth as you say and we move on absolutely I suppose it does highlight our rory we often hear that the cliché is run out in many lines nor ref nor game and I suppose that that is what came to pass at the time well it is yeah and we didn't we didn't have lads to fulfill the fixtures of the weekend which which I've said uh you know it was a little bit regrettable but you know it just goes to show within geosarcles how important these guys are the man on my right hand side and all these colleagues uh we love it Derek like lads like you will mean our spectators now we absolutely love it we love going to our club games to start away this evening and uh if the ref doesn't show up there's no game that's how important these guys are it's important for clear GA to look after these guys and i'm happy now that i'm long retired to sit in the middle and kind of mediate between both sets of parodies and pick out everything came to a good outcome everyone's happy and we move on

24:05absolutely christmaguaya referees have an awful lot to deal with in recent years in terms of rule changes i know your willen scunts and the football ones now the hoarding ones have come to pass with that descent rule and all the rest of it how much has it changed the game from a referees perspective oh massively um if in it in god like we see descent is really dramatically dropped i think uh crow parks that last year alone that red cards that yellow cards all depleted massively last year in in across our county games and um even from clear GA if last year the club championship it ran very smoothly i would say there was very little disciplinary means if even red cards last year from a football point of view and now thankfully hurling is common across and they're joining the join the party now hasn't made it an easier game to referee um it's definitely easier to handle i would say from a referees point of view there's less john for free happens there's less hanging around because the game is back in with that so long ago no which is great um i don't think there's much descent really coming in maybe in the club game a little but it is going to disappear

25:06very quick because you know 50 meters as massive no one can win with game of football just in a a club perspective because you've been around the grounds in the county and you know you've seen them on the wire is really close to the sideline has there ever been instances where the sidelines very close to the wire can it sometimes be difficult to discern what x-minter said rather than what x-supportor said or has that ever come into play yes boss um from our point of view we try and tune that out as much as possible the high tolerance we really need um but obviously if it goes over the lane and we know what's coming from a management then we're we're going down the lane very yellow card and possibly a free in the 20 meter or a two-point opportunity which is massive now for your team so team management so i have seen last year or have really you know they've gotten on the side of the referee and send if it's a free just let it be a free no don't shout in the referee chance 15 meters i've heard a couple of players saying as well that there's no time to kind of win and more now because as you mentioned the solo and go if you're standing up having to go at yourself from queen or whoever it is your man has gone 15 years with the ball and you're chasing his shadow yeah exactly it's just it's just constant goal now and especially with the stop clock and the

26:08hooter you know you don't have to time to my surround anymore whereas you're waiting you're thinking there's going to be added time there's no added time anymore it's just like free solo and goal gone we're back into play again there's very little hanging around now which is great rory recruitment i was in part and obviously because the likes of kris and now he queen and now i'm alone in these leads they've shown a progression path as well as through to national panels and all the rest of it but you're looking for the next newbies to come in give us some of the facts and figures because i saw a quote from you in terms of how many clubs in the county are providing referees and it is quite low yeah everyone loves a couple of numbers Derek and just to give the people listen a couple of numbers last year in clear in 2025 there was 455 adult championship games there was 560 would you believe adult league games underage harling 590 underage football 448 the under 21 games that happened at the end of the year there was 81 of them and that's not to talk of Kamogi and LGFA games that were still pulling from the same pool so within the county the guy beside me and his colleagues make up 45 we've 45 year referees as we all know there's 53 clubs in

27:13clear and there's clubs there's 21 of those 53 that supply no referee at all i mean there's numbers faria but that's a staggering staggering figure 21 of those clubs supply no referee i know i'll look from going to my monster meetings and meeting the other administrators from other counties that they're talking about putting a levy on clubs now that don't supply a ref and i think there was talk of that in clear a couple of years ago when i was Reffen but that maybe you lose you lose home advantage for for league games and stuff look and it's not a road you really want to be going down and that's why we're having a big push this year to try and get some more men in the cloth and get some more men and women taken up the game like if you think about it and i've heard it as a as a referee and now even a volume of my own senior football team at home in NS here i give a hand there and everyone's screaming at the referee you know but it might be his tar game at the day you know and people are saying oh he's not Reffen well in this but yeah it might be his six-hour dressed as a GA referee that's out there that's on there so like we want to try and take the burden off the likes of this guy here beside me he's a new to county career to look

28:15after as well so we're looking to get new people in all the time has Chris's outline there there's new rules now it's fantastic to watch and Derek how many times do we sit above in the in the booth across the road here in Cusic Park and try and make a good game out of a maybe not so great football game and we did our best in a lot of the time but you know what the new rules are in now it's an exciting game to watch it's even more exciting to referee you don't have time to be thinking about did i do this to do that the game moves on quickly i mean i was looking off to be 20 years standing as a GA referee far clear GA seven seven senior finals to be paratov and they're the best days ever i mean bear get married no and my kids getting and my kids been born and stuff there's their standout highlights for me and that can be for anyone listen listen here this evening if you think your number 23 and that junior team or your comment that is 32 33 years of age you're not able to make that well it is if you're playing senior football or hurling you're not able to make that team anymore you know and the legs are good you're really into your hurling or your football

29:16those are the type of people we're thinking of and maybe you're a chairman or a secretary listen to us here driving along in the car going off to see your team this evening and you're saying i can pick out two or three guys in my club straight away that would be good GA referees good solid people that would know the rules want to stay involved in the game and have the temperament to be a GA referee and look i had the greatest temperament i can be a hothead too but it's something that's cooled into your or thought to you as your referee and i mean the one of the greatest experiences in my life was being a referee observed for 20 years Chris i know he loves it he's very careful he says and these infuse but he's currently looking to get up along the ladder get on to that championship panel and those are the days you look for but you've got to start somewhere why not start but those were on the 23rd and the 25th end of the month my body earned the payroll of clear jays been brilliant he's put a poster together in the last few days it's been fired out in the socials he's a QR code organized he's just quack on to that filling the farm or seminole email i'm the referees administrator dot clear at g a dot i but

30:20Derek i know if you had the time you'd go back to g a referee and yourself wouldn't you i know he said 32 or 3 years old i'm a little bit along with that and i hate the kids at all that's yeah as joggeri often says a nation of jungles inside the house but uh Chris like and i think it's important to already mention that i know all those people out there tonight saying this thing Jesus your man is actually talking to referee he's been self he's time given out but it comes from a place of love because i once did hold a whistle for a couple of years and i'm just wondering like somebody to start note and they're wondering what supports would be in place for me if i'm starting out on a launch on sunday morning what supports are there for me what have you seen like or what do you feel referees need in order to continue raising up that bear um well the big thing i noticed was in the past when we started a refereeing um you were thrown into juvenile games probably the worst place to be thrown into mommy and daddy and the sideline roaring in a little johnny or whoever best thing we can do now and that rory has taken it over in the last few years it's just getting the referee putting it into an old junior game mistakes are made everyone learns it's it's the best way to start

31:24then when you know your experience starts building you get more confident start basing yourself around referees like i did in the past with rory for football they mean fox for herland and gained experience and gained more confidence in myself and doing line and learning that way and then when you have that experience then you start looking for your own players if it's from your club if it's it could be your mother and father i've seen referees in the national panel of silliers mom that underpost um what just a good solid group around you and have the experience there and then your your one step further going forward. is it hard to find a balance in a game between being that talkative communicative ref to players and still having that air of authority of this is my decision i'll talk to you for x amount of time but after that i'm done explaining and this is what's happening yeah i suppose the rule change commander last year that everything was supposed to come via the captain like a rugby rule now most referees are doing a small bit of communicating we still will if it's asked in the correct manner but obviously if a lad comes up roaring in your face you're not going to have the time for it you're just going to say right we're going via the captain here but communication

32:24is there um at the end of the day we're all out enjoying gm we're loving the game but at the same time we just need to realize that we're all here we're trying to relax at the same time and enjoy the game but if someone comes roaring in your face you're getting nowhere big games being in that center spot like you as a as a fan of the GA like being that involved in the game like we know the scramble for tickets will start happening now ahead of that April 19th date and whoever will get to whistle for it like you're in a prime spot stuck inside in the middle of everything yeah it's the best that's the best seat in the houses the man beside me here has done a club our learn final inside crawl park which you don't do the best seat in the house if you're not playing the next best thing is you're the man with the whistle you know it's it's fantastic as we we know cozy park us roll it's going to be 20 000 plus people on believable scenes and if you're the referee for that environment and that atmosphere you're the luckiest man and on the national panel definitely on the day and then you're you're you're the envy of all your co-parts and the line everyone wants to be that referee is there helping but that's where they want to be absolutely that's what they can be if they begin this course just once again we're

34:33the juveniles they'll be in action and i suppose our elite juvenile players of the county we have 18 of those taking part in 11 of the 16 grades and so that's the boys and girls with monster playing ulster on saturday conduct playing lense through the same day all in the national handball center in court park and the winners of both those games will meet in the finals on the sunday so a very busy weekend for those who are successful saturday and hopefully we'll have a few of them absolutely we'll run through them in a moment put into the a fair sign of youth that it's a case of command we get it all done the one weekend oh it's into great beyond absolutely absolutely bring it yeah i suppose it's the one thing with that though is it's all played together everybody gets to see it and there would have been a time you to be in block brought and would say would have meant that monster were traveling all the way up to us for this weekend and you know godly knows where you might have to travel the following weekend so i suppose it does take some of that out of it and then that it's all there you know there's no hiding our docken

35:37our you know local referees or things like that that could go either in your favor against you on the day depending on where things were held so um it it gives a great boost and a great fight to then to get all the young people in the one place together there's three courts in action and people can go and see different games of different levels and ages and it gives great encouragement to youngsters brilliant bring us to the clear hopefuls then yeah so um in girls actions we have under 14 singles and a madman who's had a great year so far competing in tournaments that are cartoon and under and she'll be actually up against the girl uh me and my friend who won that under 14 singles last year so that should be a crapper in the semifinal the 14 doubles has ordered flanigan and Samantha vahun from tuna playing 14 singles tonight dial also from tomb grainy and in 15 doubles Ava McInerney tomb grainy and Elaine littleton from tolla and in the 16 doubles Chloe handen of Cliccian and maziomali of tuna pair of and in the 17 doubles seashore

36:43brine of tomb grainy and Jane Hogan of Cliccian and so some of them are fairly experienced on the road and you'll be hoping for a good result and but not easy at all our in semifinal level and in the boys again we go all the way from 14 to 17 in the 14 doubles Ehrlich hella her up tomb grainy and Ross McInerney of tolla and in the 15 singles water marony of Cliccian 16 singles jack cahill of cluniquin the 16 doubles Charlie cunons of tomb grainy and cunner littleton of tolla pair of and in the 14 doubles Sean Garvey of cluniquin and cluniquin commons of tuna will pair up and I suppose in the boys there's a little bit of experience in that jack cahill would have reached the under 14 all Ireland final so he'd be hoping to emulate that again at least at 16 level and Charlie cunons last year would have paired with Sean McGee and they would have won the 15 doubles so he would be hoping to with a new partner in cunner going step further in the in the 16 doubles

37:47this year would be a great achievement fantastic we'll talk adults in a moment but just as you were listening out to clubs there I think it's worth noting and giving good mention to the tuna club because we were you know we're kind of used to hearing about chum grainy and Cliccian they've you know been kind of real mainstays but like for for tuna to be now featuring on this stage they're now becoming among those elite as well yeah they are and like they've always produced players along the way I suppose they have a strong reputation there in the last couple years of producing some girls and like Isabelle McInerney there would have been I suppose somebody for those girls to look up to and she would have been partner in Clareminoe last year in the all Ireland minor and she you know herself and Tara Lucas there would have been successful over the years so they've a great tradition of bringing girls through and now just a little bit of success of successful cement that far as I'm and bring the rest of it on and as you say when they see as the boys want to get in on the act as well too so it's great to see that their boys represent

38:50in their national level now as well fantastic and hopefully that progression continues take us to the adults then um well I suppose center stage on the Saturday evening deer midnash is in action against Peter function of Kilkenny and that's at six o'clock on the show court and we'll be streamed as well as the kids getting streamed and so that's a big game for deer midnash you know he's heading it headed into the championship as number one seed um god and maybe a little bit of a scare in the first game the last day but then settle down in his box finally with Michael head again so again he'll know that he needs to be focused on all Ireland semi-final level both if Peter function along with his brother was last year's all Ireland doubles winner so um deer midnash won't be taken that for granted um and it'll be great that there be so much clear support above that will be able to shout him on at that hour of evening and then um earlier on the Saturday uh closer to home we have three clear players in the last four of the ladies

39:52junior sea all Ireland so Ellen Collins will travel to Claire Galway um to play Ava Nikadon and locally in Tolla in my country in a pluny queen and Marie Lang of Newmarket and Fergus will battle it out where one of them will make the true to the all Ireland final and then the O'Brien sisters who've been traveling on the road in opposite directions for the last couple of weeks will both be in crocarc in action on Sunday so Ola is playing in the junior all Ireland semi-final and Neve is playing in the junior B all Ireland semi-final and so there'll be no no easy game there for either of them but they'll be there to support each other that's an interesting point you raise about here but having the support on the Saturday evening and again it's an offshoot of everybody being brought to the the national handball center like you be hoping anyway that people that are on towards late afternoon will stick on and give him that bit of support it may not have been if as you mentioned at the start like if you were broken up into those regional venues yeah it is and I suppose it's it's a great way of publicizing the game and getting everybody

42:00that kind of thing and it also gives them a chance to see where they stand in the whole football family for much the better world before we talk about all those games I think it's worth mentioning a big game that's happening on Saturday Jim in Frank Headey Park it's the Jaco Ireland Monster UCop semi-final at Newmarket Celtic versus Lakewood Athletic with one o'clock start sure to be a huge occasion for the club no doubt it will indeed I mean I know market have worked very hard over the last couple of years on the rondo rage and the beginning to reap the rewards of that this is a very good new market and huge team Lakewood are from around the ringest city area of Carcuits a club that's not in business as long as no market but they have about 800 members I read there so they won't be any pushovers but you'd imagine that they've been at home should help no market they'll always have big support for their games and I think they're good

43:00enough to advance to the final of this very good that is to say a Saturday kickoff for that one then on Sunday Jim we have six games in the FBI junior cup five in round one and there's a declared derby in round two take us through them well in in the first round avenue united are traveling away to list all list all would be quite a decent side didn't carry but I don't think carry football at this level is as strong as it used to be and I think avenue will be too good and there is no doubt that avenue over the last couple years a little bit disappointed with their performances in the FBI cup and I think this year they will be all out to do a lot better and get to the closing stages no market then they're at home to a tear do you like to air pronounce that and a tear from the Desmond League it's a lovely little village up there in the hills but I think they're not in the same league as no market and no market on beat this season are proving to be a

44:03very difficult site to beat and I think no market should with that with a little bit to spare then you have the endestons are at home to tolla now tolla are having a fantastic season again last year they had a grave run in the cup and the league and I think they're continuing that and I think they will take care of endestons and advance to the second round there Shannon Olympic then our hope to Saint Brendan's park that's a two o'clock Olympic have had a difficult time recently because the pitch has been unplayable and they've had to move their fixtures around a bit Jimmy Hoolhand has done a good bit of work with them since last year which should have to imagine that the carry site who are in the premier to grade down there might have a little bit too much but I don't think they'll have it easy and Jimmy will be very keen to try and get a good result here. Shannon then they're at home to call on the athletic now away when the hero would be probably likely as Kilarney are quite a strong team with Mount Shannon for some reason have always liked these competitions and have pulled off a few

45:07surprises in the past and then I wouldn't put it past them which you'd have to kind of expect that Kilarney might have a bit too much fun and could win there and in the FAI junior pop second round then you have Fern Celtic at home to Bon Ratti I would think that Bon Ratti have more experienced I felt and are also playing reasonably well this season so you'd have to imagine that they should win that and then the trail copters are second round BM as well they're sporting an assignment at home to Fair Green now you'd have to suggest that the premier league site might be too good was home advantage could swing that for sporting an assignment and I'd be trying to stick my deck out and say that sporting should have a home with Shannon Town C then are at home to Ryan Roevers I think the Tour Division team could win that as Ryan are struggling a bit and the end of Stons are at home to Hermitage and in Stons should be a lot stronger than Hermitage B

46:08and they should win that in the trail copter round then Shannon Town B are at home to Tully United B Tully United B are a fairly decent site and of course they have quite a number of their younger players I would imagine that Tully B should be capable of winning that Bridge United then B are at home or in the Premier League sorry the Bridge United are at home to Shannon Town Bridge United really have to win this game if they want to fulfill their ambition of winning the league they're a good day to ten points clear of Shannon Town in the league table and I think they're good enough to take the three points there so a home win there for Bridge United in the first Division Derek Madness Seltiker at home to Connolly Connolly the both teams are low at the end of the table would Connolly appear to have it be slightly better and should win that while Moher Seltiker are at home to Shannon Hibbs now they have had some practical games in the last while and I think Hibbs while the run a bit of a roll will find the going tough down there in Moher
