Christmas in China? 中国人过圣诞节吗？

In this Mandarin episode, I talk about the perennial question: Do Chinese people celebrate Christmas?  I try to first define celebrate in terms of whether we treat Christmas as a religious holiday. If so, then most Chinese don't celebrate Christmas in that sense. However, if we broaden the concept of Christmas as a holiday celebration for friends and family to get together and have a good time, then a lot of Chinese do participate. If you celebrate Christmas in any shape or form, I wish you a Merry Christmas!

Some useful expressions: 

1.  | 圣诞节 | Shèngdàn jié: Christmas
2.  | 定义 | dìngyì: define, definition
3.  | 宗教意义 | zōngjiào yìyì: religious meaning
4.  | 毕竟 | bìjìng: after all
5.  | 信教 | xìnjiào: believe in religion (usually referring to Christianity)
6.  | 放宽 | fàngkuān: broaden, let expand
7.  | 当成 | dàngchéng: regard as
8.  | 传统 | chuántǒng: tradition, traditional
9.  | 阖家团圆 | hé jiā tuányuán: family reunion
10.  | 聚会 | jùhuì: party, get-together
11.  | 装饰 | zhuāngshì: decorate, decoration
12.  | 圣诞树 | shèngdànshù: Christmas Tree
13.  | 集市 | jí shì: market (esp. with street vendors, outdoor market)
14.  | 种类 | zhǒnglèi: variety, type
15.  | 口味 | kǒuwèi: taste, flavor
16.  | 增加 | zēngjiā: increase, add to
17.  | 气氛 | qìfēn: atomsphere
18.  | 年轻人 | niánqīng rén: young people
19.  | 专利 | zhuānlì: patent, specialty, limited to certain group
20.  | 普及 | pǔjí: widespread
21.  | 互赠礼物 | hù zèng lǐwù: exchange gifts
22.  | 欢聚 | huānjù: happily gather
23.  | 郑重其事 | zhèngzhòng qí shì: take something seriously, solemnly 
24.  | 大张旗鼓 | dàzhāngqígǔ: on a big scale, in a big way 
25.  | 相通 | xiāngtōng: universal, interconnected, shared
26.  | 年龄 | niánlíng: age
27.  | 享受 | xiǎngshòu: enjoy
