1:00what a bad stuff you got up to. Bad stuff. Oh, like I've had a Pepsi after the game. Well, I'll start it out. And a Pepsi. What? The Chinese before the game. Oh, come on. What was you trying to do? Stop it. Oh, it's so basic. So burn in mind, I'm still technically sort of a student. I had chicken fried rice and curry sauce. It breaks in the culture. That's not much worse than a result. But speaking about embracing culture, I did have a Greg's today. So, you know, yeah, come on, you know it there. Exactly. Look. All jokes aside, that's a grim trip. Is it? Mate, you said long up. So I've only been there once and I was in the in the home and so it's all going there again. But let's talk about the 30-hour. Do you mean to be after? You don't do it wonderfully. I could talk about my Greg sausage roll if you're on the book. Maybe I was the right man. You've had a long couple of days. You've been traveling to Germany. I'm sure that perked you up. Yeah, I mean, like, yeah, because the game was because

2:02Germany's an hour ahead to the game finish like 11. I got back to the hotel like 12-ish pack. World Cup of three to get to get my flight back home. So yeah, it's been it's been a rough last 10 hours or so. And yeah, I don't know like the game was just just deflating, wasn't it? Like, I was with Mate watching it and he said around, I think it was about the 50th minute when he just kept saying, I haven't got a bit of feeling about this game. And I kept trying to just ignore him, but yeah, come to be true. That whole second half I sat there and I was just, I was exactly like him. I was just like, there's nothing's going to happen here. If you had told us before the game, Manchester United are going to lose the new castle. They're going to lose the midfield battle. There's going to be an intensity problem. Everything that happened in that game was what we knew were United's vulnerabilities. We were hoping they weren't going to get exposed, but they got exposed. And it's it's, hmm, all of a sudden, you know, I need to be filled over. I mean, we knew that.

3:03We needed it. Kobe Maynu got really physically overrun. And it kind of went down to the basics, really, because Newcastle went down to attempt. Can somebody please give me an answer to this, right? By the way, second, first question I'll ask you, which is related, but not the question I wanted to ask. How many times do you think we've played 10 men this season? It's three, four, right? Five, I think. Five. Chelsea. So, Newcastle. Everton, Crystal Palace. And I forgot what the fifth one was. Bollocks. But I'm pretty sure there was another one in there as well. So, we beat Chelsea. We lost against Everton. We lost against Newcastle. We beat Crystal Palace. But then, like, what is it about this Manchester United team? If an opposition goes down to 10 men, you're like, all right, you jeered up. You're ready for it. You got an extra man. Let's take advantage of that. United can't ever seem to do that. They can't ever seem to step up again. The thing that was annoying me the most was I was watching Dan Burn on the ball.

4:04Pinging, like, 40 yard diagonals across the pitch. Really quick and in the pace of play. And every time that McGuire or Yorah had the ball, whether it was in Burma or whether it was, I don't know, the low later on, somebody was kind of hugging that wide position. The ball wasn't getting out there quick enough. And by the time that it went there, Newcastle was set up again and in position. And McGuire is extremely good at the diagonals. I don't really know why he wasn't doing it. And I just don't know why United again. And we've said this, look, performance-wise, I think it's fair to say it's probably been coming. But I wouldn't say it was inevitable, but it felt like the hallmarks were in the last few games. Like, what is it, Dan? Because the physical levels, I'd say, have dropped off quite a bit from when Carrick first came in. There's no risk taking is the, like, Newcastle sort of risks yesterday. We didn't take risks. And the pace of the ball just wasn't good enough. I've seen Bruno getting the ball and assessing his options. No one's making any space for him. No one's running to make a running behind or run towards him. Just movement was just lacking in all areas.

5:04And the front line, yesterday, had an absolute stinker of a performance. They were really bad, I thought. And Kunia, I mean, for the first 25 minutes or for most of that first half, Le Mans just kept hitting the ball over to Kunia on that far left side. And it would either be trippier or maybe Tia would come over and try and get out of head the ball away from it. And he'd be successful most of the time. He just kept nudging him in the back. And then he said, And then Kunia missed in the ball. Why can't we take that step up? Like, where's the fit? We've seen physical output under Carrick. And that was the thing that was missing. I mean, it wasn't the only thing that was missing. Let's be honest. But if you don't have the basic, then nothing else can follow, right? Like the context is important, right? So obviously, we've had one game a week pretty much most of the season, right? The two times that Carrick or Man United under Carrick have dropped points have been when there's been a quick turnaround. West Ham, midweek, Newcastle, midweek, away games, these are kind of things that matter. And look, Newcastle, Newcastle can overrun and sort of be more physical

6:07than a lot of sides in the Premier League. So we're not alone in that. But it is that it is speaking of yet. Casamero, Cobbie May, New Bruno, Fernandez. It's not going to be the most intensive midfields. And it was, to be fair, they just did win the midfield battle. Joe Linson yesterday. I thought I'd probably one of its best. But I mean, not like I watched Newcastle games all the time. But he's someone who I thought was kind of dipping now. And sort of you see as well. Yeah, I wasn't expecting the level performance from him yesterday. He was, I mean, like he was winning. His joules so well yesterday. Cogman, you couldn't handle him in various moments. Cogman, who I thought on the ball was fine. But like I said, off the ball in sort of those physical battles can handle the frontline. I thought, Cesco, we didn't really provide anything for him. Kunia tried. And I thought there was a few times that he got away from his man really well. And Buma really struggled though. He was probably the one that I thought, yeah, he just couldn't get things going. And I just thought that we need to take a little bit of the creative responsibility away from Bruno. Why I liked the goal against Everton so much

7:09is because it didn't involve Bruno whatsoever. But again, like yesterday again, it just kind of feels like it's Bruno creating the channel. It says he puts a really good cross in for Euro. He puts in a decent cross for Garte. Another three ball for a Buma. But there's not much else coming from anywhere else. I'll ask you both this, like how many passes in Newcastle's box do you think Cesco received yesterday? Three, two, none. Not one. Not one single pass, but in Cesco's feet. And like, there's nothing you can really do about that. As soon as you say that, you're like, well, of course you fucking lost. Like if you can't get your centre for the ball, the only thing that happened was that sort of floated cross and it caused a bit of chaos. And then I think it was a foul on Tanali. That was about the biggest sniff that our informed striker got. And it's just the thing that's frustrating, of course, is a performance, but also the reaction. It's sort of like, you kind of wonder why this Manchester United fan base gets sort of like pointed and laughed at sometimes.

8:10But I call it like football extremism. Like we played eight games under Cary now. We were, we were kind of dreaming of Champions League spots when a Cary came in. We're now still third after losing a game because Villa got pumped by Chelsea, which I think that result kind of helps us. We won six, we've drawn one, we've lost one, right? Calm the fuck down. For real, right? I don't know what it is. You don't have to have such pendulum swings between a lot of like having, it's just like all part of the sort of the hate watching economy that everyone does now. Like you have to be there, you have pointing a laugh and taking the piss out of everybody if you win and then the opposite if you lose and then you've got to take bullets and barbs and it's just, it's just, it's really, really exhausting if I'm being totally honest. If Cary is able to switch off from that, then great, but it's out of it, he kind of is. But it's very much down those players aren't. It does, I look, our fan reaction doesn't impact the players, but I think you know, I fans do it to themselves

9:12a lot of the time now. Yeah, I think so. You expect it from a wave to the rival fans, right? That's fine. I don't really care about that. But like, even I can sit here and say that Brian and Boomer yesterday struggled and I think that it's been a few games now where we haven't seen the best of him. But ask me that question about a month ago. I'd probably say he's been out of the four, maybe the months for, for outright pound for pound money wise. But he's probably been the most effective sign in. We've had, especially among CESCO and CUNYA. But the way that fans are on his back after a few poor performances is so over the top. And your bang on like, what is it like? Was it 19 out of 21 before yesterday? Yeah, so 19 out of 24. Like, it's not bad going like whatsoever. And to be fair, in the post-match interview with TNT, I think Margaret Carrick was kind of, it was kind of poked a few questions. And he kind of not snapped back, but he kind of just gave it back and he just kind of went, all right, let's relax

10:14because we're still on really good form. We're in a really good place. And that's what we need to focus on. So it's good that he's got that mentality and I hope that he sort of puts that on to the squad and that they have the same thoughts. But your bang on like, it's just, it's an overreaction. We just need to, we're ticking along fine. Newcastle was a hard place to go. It's always been a hard place to go. Not just for us, but for every team in the league. So it's frustrating, but let's not, and also another thing is like, let's had your Martinez out. Luke Shaw had to go off. Cassamera had to go off. Bringing on a Gata, it's like, I'm a Malaysia, how can we forget? I'm guessing that I'm guessing Cassamera going off this after six. He was, what was like a pre planned sort of like plan for the game in three days? He can't play two nights in four days. Am I being unfair and sort of having a guy at Malaysia? I've seen some people say, hold on, mate. Oh, you could be a scapegoat on him. It was actually McGuire that should have come across and like engage rather than backing off. Nick, where do you stand at? Because to me, just look like we talk about mistakes. I got no idea why he's put on Malaysia instead of heaven if I'm being honest. I think that's a bit of an oversight from Carrick.

11:15I feel for Malaysia because the injuries have been horrible and he's been thrown in to not the deep end because we were a minor up and we should have gone on to win that game. But he's obviously out of touch with the game and the moment with Asula that I think was the biggest mistake is there was a moment where McGuire kind of goes to go towards Asula, realizes not going to get there in time and really it should have been Malaysia that's getting closer to him because neither of them get close to him Asula then has the space to run at them and that's why he's got the momentum behind his run to be able to beat a man and then have his shot. If you get closer to him, he doesn't have that space to run at you. And then obviously he turns Malaysia, Malaysia looks a bit silly. So I do feel for him, but yeah, he probably shouldn't have come on and I mean like if you really want to throw the kitchen sink I put my mat at left back, you know what I mean? I know this might sound a bit wild and defensively probably doesn't help us but in terms of just going for it,

12:15yeah, you could have done that. And yeah, even though Aiden haven't come in already, he's been playing a bit more, he's a bit more shot. So I feel for him, but he did get caught up, yeah. I swear that's going to be a goal of the season contender. That was an absolute, the lab won the ball well in his own half. I said, one of one that goal for him in his career of course came against United. But look, somebody else I think I want to speak about because we've been linked with him and Tanali really did sort of personify the midfielder that we don't have. Now I'm not saying that he had like, I don't even think he had by his own standards like his best performance of the season, but you just watch him play and you watch how he carries himself around the pitch and how he's always there. He's never, there's never a gap. He's very kind of reliable, he's consistent. He just looked at me go, yeah, we need that. Yeah, yeah, we need that. Like whether it's Tanali, whether it's Anderson who scored against City as well, Nick. And that's awesome. What did you make it to 90's performance? Sound, like what you said there,

13:16he kind of just, he knows his roles and responsibilities and he done them well, he plays, he kind of got on the ball enough, but not, he wasn't sort of play making from deep in any sense. But he covered the spaces, which was really important, made a few interceptions here and there. Like you said, I don't think it was like an incredible performance by his standards, like you say, but it was just the kind of performance that, yeah, it's just, it's what you come to expect from him, he's kind of just taking along nicely. And I thought that to be fair, Newcastle's midfield three in general packed that area around the D really nice and Bruno just couldn't get on the ball there. And so he was kind of getting frustrated and trying to butt wide together. Bruno was left in the back at some point, right towards the end, like he was just like giving a ball, dropping D, frustrated. He was pinging in, he should have had at least two assists yesterday, let's be honest. The cross to Casamero. I think one of the things that really annoys me the most is we're not one at St. James's Park in six years now. I think it is. Every time they midfields over and ours and they've been all over us, they've just fought and out battled us

14:20in every single game since then. And it's so frustrating because that's what we used to do. We used to do that to teams and all of a sudden when we go up there, you sort of know what to expect. Yesterday I knew what was coming. I didn't think like it was going to be two one and they'd go in the last minute, but I knew that they'd outfight us at least. And if there's one thing I would compliment Amarim on, I actually think he made this United squad a significantly fitter than when he first got the squad. Yet still, when it comes into these games, I always feel like Newcastle is our anti-team. It's like the team that we can't seem to do it against. We can do it against City, we can do it against Liverpool, but Newcastle won their old traffic, so who am I kidding, right? But it just seems to be when they want to. They can just go to level X that we can't seem to reach, that we can't seem to match. I think St. James Park helps them in that sense. They probably wouldn't have done that game at all, traffic that's been on, especially not with 10 men. Ref was having a bit of a wobbly that game. I'll be completely honest.

15:20He kept giving everything. Like everything. And like... It was really, it was really so. Yeah, and like to be fair to Trippie, I like it's good game intelligence, right? Like if I'm a Newcastle fan, I love a bit of that. But every little touch or nudge, you just kept fooling over and the ref was giving it. So fair play to him, but it's straight in from my point of view. Newcastle fans aren't half over the top. I mean, Trippie can give it a bit of passion and they're all up and like... The differences, they don't even sing or chant or anything. They're just very reactionary. It's so weird. And there's always... There's always one topless bloke as well. Always. Yeah. It's not my turn. Yeah, yeah, always. You see that meme of that old, that there's like this old new class of women running, and she's like the awk and all of the rings going into like Helm's Deep. Like, did it, did it, did it, it looks like she's running with a flag. Mate, go and watch it. I mean, we've got to look at our 10-hour temp image. But look, we're speaking about reactions and reactionary. I think we've got to speak about the Paul Skull situation. I've done a video on him again. And...

16:20Man, you're just... Same old, same old, isn't it? Mate, it's just like, what are you doing, Lads? Like, he's already deleted it. Like a few hours later, it's like it gets drunk at a game. So, mate, can you stop drunk tensing? Like, fucking hell, you've done it again. Ah, balls. A few hours later, I'll take that down, my bad. It's just... It's almost like he was kind of waiting for character to lose a game just to go little sneaky jab, jab, jab, jab, jab. And then run away, like a naughty school kid. And then delete it. Like, he didn't actually mean it. Like, what's the point, Paul? Like, what is the point? It's just, well, frustrates me the most is. He's been there as a player. He knows what it's been like coming through the youth system at United and the responsibilities and the expectations at the club. And all of a sudden, it doesn't count to him because he's an ex-player now. And he thinks he can just say what he wants. Right, it's not even just that. I think, like, the San Joe Martinez one, right? I thought it was just weird. It was always like school, we are bullying. But if I'm going to separate that, I'm going to be like, well, he didn't play with the San Joe Martinez. He didn't actually have an existing relationship with him. And then I'm looking, with Marco Carey,

17:22play with him for like, he won the fucking Champions League with him, man. Like, he was... You see, Carey behind him in that photo, in that gold against Barcelona. Like, they play with each other. It's like he doesn't want the club to do well. See, that's the thing, right? I've seen people speaking about that. And I've always thought that that sounds nonsense, that that sentence just sounds nonsense. As if, like, never looking or school was wanting United to fail to sort of make their legacy even better because, you know, I just can't succeed without them. But that's the first time I've looked at the Sunning and I've just gone, well, where on earth has that come from, Paul? Like, we've literally just run the feet in seven and we lose one game. And all of a sudden, I would've been shitin' for. Carey must be doing the Sunning, see you later, kiss kiss, tonight is good. And I was just like, why are you being such a sarky little prick for? Like, I expect that from Jamie Caragher. Like, that's what I mean. Like, this is the sort of stuff that you just mentioned there. You expect it from rivals, but, from one of your most decorated academy players, it just doesn't match up for me, Nick. There's two things in particular I want to know. Like, first of all, like, what is Marco Carey done?

18:22Because, like, for whatever reason, like, it's very keen, obviously. I don't know what happened with something serious. Why if I don't exactly know the story? And then it's obviously, Paul Skulls is, I don't know, and even Gary Neville would have started at the start when my character first came in. He said, absolutely, there's no way he can stay on. So, I want to know, is there history there? Is something happen there? I don't get why there's so much, what feels like a bit of hate. Caracas ain't been doing loads of beef behind the scenes for years, and he'll be gonna come out. I don't get that. He's been mixing it up. The other thing as well is that, like, from a fan perspective, like, you want to back your legs, like, like, when it comes to, oh, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerard, Paul Skulls, I want to sit there and back Paul Skulls, and I probably always will, but it's just, it becomes hard when, like, it feels like they do unlikable things towards the club. Like, I always use Ian Wright as such a good example because I just think he's critical when he needs to be, but he's an actual fan of the club. He loves the boys, he loves the club, and it just doesn't feel like these look quite like that.

19:25Like, I feel like I get that from Real Ferdinand. I feel like Wayne Rooney's pretty fair. Like, I feel like he's not one who kind of, has ever said anything that I've kind of questioned, but from a few of the other guys, I'm just like, like, you're a legend of the club, I want to speak highly of you, but you say things and do things that just make that hard, and I just, yeah, like everyone else, I'm just, I'm confused, I don't get it. It's just a bit exhausting. Like, do you remember, do you remember Jackass, right? The team? Where are we going in? I've got a good one, right? Do you remember 30 Sanchez? Who? Do you ever watch 30 Sanchez? No. Right, I'll tell you what, right? Let me tell you a story. It's a good, it's, it makes sense in my head so let me get through it, right? Jackass on MTV, it was like dominating, it was everywhere, right? Just doing dumb stunts. Don't say this. It's like, don't drink it. Don't drink it. I don't drink that. I like the joke though. 30 Sanchez was like an extreme version of Jackass. Like, the stunts that you would see on Jackass, they just do mad at stuff in 30 Sanchez. Like, stuff that Jackass would never do.

20:26And they did that because they had to sort of one up Jackass, because, right, if they're doing that and they're being successful, what can we do? Okay, cool, right? Well, let's just do it more extreme. It's almost what opinions are these days. Like, that was kind of my point here. If somebody's saying one thing, well, let's just go for a more extreme version of it. It's just jab here to just do that. Like, you have to be, that's what I call it, foot, foot, foot, extremism. That's just a currency that exists this days. Not that I'm saying that Skulls falls in that exactly, but you know, you know, part I think is, and I don't know what this is going to come across me being a right dick. It almost feels like football intelligence. Like, Ian Wright can sit there and articulate a lot when it comes to speaking about games, games, states, what happens, players, mindsets. I don't really think you're ever going to get the insight from Paul Skulls or Nikki Buck. It's going to be, it's a different currency. It's a different type of player. They're players that would never have been captains that don't think elite players in their own rights, but in their own little spheres, probably not transferable, not teachable. I said, I don't know, it's really fucking sad if you're being honest.

21:28Because like you said there, I could sit here and argue all day about how Skulls was better than, in yesterday, but I don't know. Ooh, that's how Skulls do it. But you know what I mean? Skulls, Gerard Lampard, all those arguments that you have, and it just, it does make it tougher. It does make it tougher. But for like, we've got 11 days, right? What do you expect to happen in these 11 days? Because let's be honest now, Nick, the game against Villa, the reason that United fans are annoyed is that we had a, we had the buffer there, man, the buffer was there. We could have been three points ahead of Villa, six points in the Champions League, and then we're playing Villa at Old Trafford. Wow, what an opportunity. And they're right, we've lost that. But we've lost our buffer, we haven't lost our position, we're still third, and we're playing Villa at home. And they got Whopper-D Whopped by Chelsea, all right? So we should, on thin theory, you'd be back in the night in that game, but it's gonna stew this 11 days now, isn't it? That's the bad thing about losing before an international break or a break like this. Yeah, and it's come twice in the...

22:28I mean, we didn't lose against first time, but we did drop points. Yeah, I don't know, like, what happens from now till then? I don't know, because we're also not gonna get any quotes from Carrick, no updates from Carrick, because there'll be no press conferences. So, yeah, I guess it's just time for the players at least to prepare. I mean, with the Villa game, I feel quite decent. They're in a bad spot, even before Chelsea, they lost the wolves in a game, which I didn't think they were good again. So I feel okay going into that one. I just think, as we said earlier, it's just we thought there's no reason to overreact as United fans. And maybe the overreaction comes from fans really wanting to believe in Michael Carrick, because they don't like the other options out there. And this result has put a big question mark next to his name. Maybe that's what the overreaction really is. I don't know. But like you said there, we're still third. We're still in a good spot. Like, we're favorable favorites. One of the favorites for top four. Let's not forget as well, like, cool. I don't know, Chelsea just beat Ascent Villa 4.1, but they also dropped points against leads and leads

23:30and burning at home. Liverpool just lost the way to wolves. Do you know what I mean? Like, this weekend, right? Or this game, this game week, sorry. I think it was only three inside the top 10. One. In turn. Like the premise of that, the premise season from a, I suppose, a competitive perspective is going to be one of the best Premier League seasons that you ever watch. Now, no, it's not to do, not in terms of the eliteness and the quality on display. But in terms of week in, week out, some mad shit happening is guaranteed. Now, United have been out of those headlines to six, seven weeks. And now we're back in it. And that's what happens in football. I've done one of it back in it, let's be honest. You know, the new cast will play in Chelsea next as the same game week as we're playing Villa. Ooh. Mate, Chelsea, like, they've got some really tough fixtures, man, I don't know if we've been through this already. But like, new castles, city, us, Liverpool, and Tottenham. I don't know if that really, you know. But like, they're, I don't know, like, they got some tough fixtures coming up and then they got PSU in the Champions League. So that's what I mean.

24:32Like, you've got to take context into it, like. Can we just mention briefly about how we've been stiff with fixtures by the Premier League again? Two Monday nights. Mate, you've been stiffed. I've been triple quadruple stiff, right? How do I stagdoo? On the weekend of fucking Chelsea. And they've managed to put that as an 8 p.m. on a Saturday. It's where that's our only 8 p.m. Saturday kick off all the years. Yeah, 18th. 18th of April. Yeah. Oh, that's a wolf. Where are you for the stagdoo? That's rough. I've got no idea. I'm going to pound it around the book. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I want to go in the game. That's one of the biggest games we've got. I'll take Dex. Anyway, ladies and gents, we'll write this one up. It's a frustrating week. But we're still stirred. Remember where we were eight weeks ago. Like, context is everything. If Carrick gets us into Champions League this season, he has been a resounding success. And it stands.
