Cannabis Farm Raided in Leicester

0:00On March 15th, here's the latest out of Lester. Police in Lester raided a house on the Beaumont Lays estate and found dozens of cannabis plants growing inside. This happened on Sunday, March 15th, when officers from the Beaumont Lays' beat team forced their way in. They say, organized crime groups are using rented homes to set up these illegal operations. No one was home at the time, and now an investigation is underway to track down those responsible. The property will be secured and hopefully turned back into a family home soon. Officers noted that while these grows are less common in this area than nearby spots, the problem persists. This isn't the first time on the estate. Just six months earlier, in September, another cannabis farm was found after a water leak flooded the flat below. Again, the place was empty when police arrived, and they warned about the fire risks from these setups. Back in November last year, police seized cannabis plants worth more than 1 million pounds across Lester in just 10 days. That led to three arrests and charges for production offenses.
