I want to share something that really caught my attention as a parent. I've learned that myopia, near-sightedness, is becoming much more common in kids, and it's not something you want to ignore. If it goes unchecked, it can have an impact that goes way beyond schoolwork. What really matters is starting with an eye exam, and eye doctor can tell you what's going on with your child's vision and walk you through options that are designed specifically for kids like Esselaer Stelest lenses. I like that Stelest lenses are made for children and fit right into everyday life. They look like regular glasses, but they're part of a more thoughtful approach to managing myopia. If you're a parent and you've been meaning to book an eye exam, this is your sign. Visit Esselaer.com to learn more about Stelest lenses and to find an Esselaer expert eye care professional near you. You're juggling a lot, but you can still squeeze in a financial plan. With the Northwestern Mutual Financial Advisor as your partner, it's not only possible, it's personalized, so if you're time the not, closing on a house, or welcoming a little one,

you'll be ready for whatever life tosses your way. It's the right time to feel less stressed and more certain. That's a better way to money. Let's get started at nm.com. The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

East, Lene Theater, September 25th, ready PG-13. Maybe inappropriate for children under 13. Toyota trucks are made tough for the extreme. They let you live out your dreams. This view is insane! Well, looks like we're camping in the rain. Seek thrills, see it all, kick up dust, or crawl. If you need a partner to match your drive, these trucks were born for adventure rides. Toyota trucks outlast outlive.

People price. Be cool, man. It's all good. It's worth the price. There's always a sale, guys. First thoughts, man. Ohio State, man. We haven't heard from you directly. I've done about nine hours on Ohio State by now. Well, I wrote about 4,500 words starting Sunday. People have heard from me if you're on inside Texas. Ohio State, 309 and 0, historically when leading by 17 plus points at halftime. The buckais are now 309 and 1. For the first time in their program history, they lost the game when leading by 20 plus points after the third quarter. They were 365 and 0. They're now 365 and 1. We are the one. How did we become that negative outlier? This is a lot of retypes stuff. It felt during the game, the margins were thin and one mistake and you can't win the game. It just stopped mathematically possible. On the rewatch, it felt even more like that.

Dude, I was saying in my analysis, it felt like every player was like, this is the one that won the game. I'm just like 31 decisive plays. So I can't make a narrative in my post-mortem's about that because it would just be. So my office of post-mortem was 2100 to where it's Connor. I was like, oh, this isn't good. I'm a defensive one. It's like 1500. People like, you didn't talk about Ian Jafar. I'm like, all right guys, I know. I'm not Tolstoy. I know you want me to be, but yeah, I'm in it. It's an incredible win. It was improbable. There's grit. There's clutches. There's, as Steve Sarkiesian said, I was hired to win the game, not keep it close. So yeah, I'm going to go for it on 4th and 9th on my 30th in the 3rd quarter because that's the window to win the game. I'm not Jimbo Fisher. I'm not going to pun it there. And then hope that the final score will be 2310. You know, and everyone will be like, well, the fact is if we don't get those 4th downs,

we get blown out. I mean, eventually, right? Yeah. Yeah, you had to go. You had to go for it, man. You had to. But I would rather be blown out than lose the narrow window to win the game. That is in defiance of a larger media narrative, which is always like, you have to pump that football. When your office is playing poorly, you have to pump that football there. That would a risky play by Steve Sarkiesian. It's like such a loser mentality. And I'm really glad that Sark said it publicly. It's an interesting way of thinking about the game because we exploited every possible opportunity to find that narrow, tiny window. It's like Santa Claus trying to fit through a chimney, right? And you're not sure it's going to work, but old Saint Nick's mad. But I'll be damned. But I'll be damned. Every year, like clockwork. And then I mean, it's crazy too because we played so poorly and really got our butt kicked on both sides of the ball in the first half.

But also there was this weird element of like misfortune that just, you couldn't even fully blame, I mean, you couldn't blame Sark for sure, but you could even almost fully blame the player. Like, so Cam Coleman literally tripped on the SEC logo. You should see in all 22 where Cantla Boggs up in the air in Camp Sland on his back, he's like, there's no way. Yeah, it stashes and he gets up immediately great effort. But you can even see him be like, no, I mean, it was nuts, man. So I just think that I mean, Nibblet feel it's a ball of his face mask. And we thankfully recover it. We had three other fumble recoveries that people just forgot. Because we recovered it, they're like, ah, that didn't happen. Including S'mothers on the goal that before the touchdown. And I was wondering like, what's going on here? And I think he did score on that play, but I don't think they had the video evidence to show it. So we also fumbled while trying to reach across.

So they either had to rule it a touchdown or sort of, we did recover it. But I could imagine that the visuals huddle was like, did you see what happened? No, did you see what happened? No, all right, let's just do it over. Did the big 10 get his got everyone jumping now? The reps are like on their best behavior. Like, let's just play a cooler man. Yeah, I just, it's funny because anyone making definitive statements about this game or even what a rematch would look like, just go rewatch the tape. The game swung 37 different times. That's like this was the decisive thing that was going to finish the game. And it was a rally for the ages. You guys watched history is one of the greatest wins in Texas history. Not to. And see you know, the only of it. Oh, 100% and at first, you're like, man, was that a fluke? I need to go back and watch the tape. You go back. It's like, dude, you can't fluke like four straight drives of plus 16 yards mixed run and pass. I can see Ohio State fans like going with the fluke. Rare and fluke are not the same thing.

And so the fluke part would be saying throws two perfect passes. They get tipped and we pick six both of them and then camc it wins on a fade because the guy passed out like that's a fluke. It's like the difference that fourth quarter was like a masterclass and success rate and execution. That's a different thing. That's that took it out of the fluke category completely for me. Even though it was an incredibly improbable three methodical drives, which Connor, I mean certain people on this channel have said Sark can't prove has proven he can't. I know. That methodical drives and that's but that you see what the offense looks like when you do. And so that's why I was like, hell yeah, dude. That's why I wanted to see for six years now, dude. And I got to tell you on the rewatch, the physicality of our team, particularly the offense in that fourth quarter, exceptional. I mean, and not just the O line, you always associate that with the O line and our O line was physical. Ryan Wingo's lead blocking on one of our run plays and dominates a guy, stock blocks a guy and just dominates him.

Freaking Spencer, Spencer Shannon stands up, Kenyatta Jackson and abuses him like. And Kenyatta is a great player. So remember when we broke down Texas State in the film study, I was like, hey, not only did Spencer Shannon on the side that's played well in Blockwell, I want to show you him defeating this 310 pound defensive winery like one on one. This might answer the question of can he do this against big boy edges and linebackers? He got a big boy edge. Kenyatta Jackson is going to be a first or second round draft pick. Spencer, Shannon on that rep kicked his ass. Multiple plays like that throughout the game. Hollywood Smothers, we're in 20 personnel. He's the lead blocker on a fullback inside that that's what that play is, even though there's a lot of fullback. It's a fullback inside with Smothers as the lead blocker. Outweighed by 40 pounds. Smothers popped that linebacker. Like that dude's head snapped back. And they got a great pass blocking rep to one on one with a linebacker.

Yes, he sure did. And our O line just played very well. And beyond the physicality, it wasn't dumb brute like, oh, it's just a smash. They were smart, man. When they were in pass pro, you saw everyone's head on a swivel. Smart help. I mean, it's just very, very impressive what they did. You've got to take your hat off to him because it was not, oh, they busted a coverage. We hit Cam for 80 over the top. Now it's 2317. Yeah. It was 15 play drive, 13 play drive, 12 play drive. We did not have an explosive over 22 yards. I was going to say they did it with very little explosive. It was the inversion of what we had seen from Sam. Everything. Yeah, and like, especially the vertical run game, like moving guys off the ball, inversion of what we had seen, lack of explosivity, inversion, high success rate. But yeah, I love it, man. Like that's what I'm talking about. If you told us before this game, Texas will not have an explosive in offense longer than 22 yards.

You and I would have been like, not only do we lose, we lose like 28 to 7, 28 to 10. Like, dude, we're going to get our ass kicked. Yeah. Quite the opposite. Call the ambulance, but not for me. Yeah, exactly. But yeah, I thought I'm glad you pointed that out. Like, because that was something too that I'm like, it's why I just like love success rate. Because I don't know, man, it's just, explosives are cool because you get that high pop of energy. But I like the dopamine. It's success rate, dude. I'm getting a little something every. Like, you know, and it's a little steady hit. The smooth high. It's a smooth high. And so that's why I like, but yeah, really proud of what they did there. I thought Sartre called an incredible game, especially watching it. So arch struggled early. That's, but the plays were there. Like Sartre, one of the, you know, I'm hard on Sartre. One of the best games, maybe the best game I've seen him call, concept wise, like it was there all day, even though arch, you know, you can watch my breakdown. I put out on Sunday. Arch wasn't seeing it great, but it was there, man. Sartre did awesome. So shout out to him.

Sartre, first half, look like he might have been on the game. And that's the, yeah. Second half, the man. Like we're going to show this in the film study. Give you guys a little heads up. You guys got to watch these. I mean, we put a lot of time into it. We got the all 22 film. And we show you some really cool stuff. Arch makes some incredible throws in the second half. Yeah. When in the first half, he couldn't complete, like, very basic stuff. He's self-sacking. Yeah. I mean, very odd. That second half, he was clutch, man. He made some really big boy throws that I think kind of flew under the radar. Oh, he made several NFL throws in that second half. And that's what's so confusing about him is like, it's there, man. It's just we just got to smooth that out, man. And make it consistent throughout the game. And I, Jason says here, and I think it's a good point. Arch Stats would look pretty damn good with just Wingo and Coleman catching the ball. I agree with that too. And we can please stop critiquing Arch throwing a 55-yard ball. It's silly.

So 100 percent. Wingo drops the ball. That changes the get. Here's the weirdest part. Is like, if we would have just executed, there's a legitimate chance we beat Ohio State by like, like, 14. So it's like, it's that factor too. But there's also a legitimate chance. Had they hit their open seam route to McEwen, had they recovered one of those fumbles instead of us? Like, they beat us by, like, the problem you get into here is it changes the decision tree immediately. Right? It's like, as soon as Cam catches it, now they're going to call it a different defense. And that's going to cause it. And so it's like the game cascade. So we do this thing where we pick, we isolate one moment, but that's not how reality works. All the play calls change when you happen. But I think I mean that from the exit, not the execution standpoint, from the scheme standpoint, that that was a really well-called game. I know fans are getting frustrated in the game, but I'm telling you with all 22, like, Sark was cooking, man. That was absolutely awesome. But yeah, the Wingo drop, Coleman, tripping, tripping, Luni Tunes' interception, for sure.

But still, it didn't change the fact that if you, when you watch the All 22, Arche was doing a lot of turn downs, not super confident there. I get worried there for a second that like, you know, something about the program kind of turns them into quen yours. Like, they get too risk averse at some point and don't want to lose the game. So they start getting checked down happy. But luckily that wasn't the case. Arche came out of a show. Sark all Sark had to say was like, hey, look at the middle of the field, because they were open all game, dude. And as soon as Sark was like, middle of the field arch, then the offense starts to work. Well, one thing I did get to appreciate even more. And I saw it live, but Ohio State ran a lot of Sim pressure. And they were running hybrid couverages, where they're showing zone, and it's actually a man, where they're showing man, it's actually zone, or it's combo coverage, man outside, zone inside. One thing that Arche does do is value the ball. He really does. He's not a gun slinger in that regard, right? And I think he was hesitant because he was like,

am I seeing what I'm seeing? Because some of those windows closed when he was about to pull the trigger, and he's like, oh, and then other times, it looks like some guys about to open, but he's like, is a defensive end about to just drop into that picture, right? And we'll show you in the all 22 what that looks like. And some of those, dude, they're, Ohio State's good at running that stuff. And we will not play a defense more proficient in running that specific sort of sim, like we're showing you this, but we're actually in this. Vennables presents a challenge, but it's a different one. And I just think that that was part of his hesitancy too, of like, we're not playing well, I'm not playing well. If I throw a bad pick here, that might be the game. Let me hold the ball here for a second longer and see what I think I'm seeing is what I'm seeing. And I think Sarc just said, dude, let it rip. Winston's gonna be open laid over the middle. Yeah. And I call this the Brock Pertie kind of paradox.

So year one at Iowa State, he's like a gunslinger, man. Like he's pretty wild. And his big time throws are off the charts. His turnover where the plays are off the charts. And so he's going big and then he's collapsing. And then Campbell over time molds him into the, the kind of check down artists we see today. And what you did was you established an incredible floor with him, but you took away his playmaking too. And so that's the line always where it's like, you want your quarterback to be safe and protect the ball. And actually that's several times you threw the ball away. That's all good stuff. But also too, it's like, well, you don't want to pull back that side of him too that'll make like a sick throw. But I don't even think that's a problem. I think it was just a worry. And then the second half, all Sarc had to do is be like, hey man, you're good. And then it ended up working out. This is also huge. The lack of dumb penalties really helped. Two for 12. It's awesome, dude. Like this is exactly what we've been asked for. So it happens to look like you literally cannot have 15 play,

13 play, 12 play drives for touchdowns with penalties. The math doesn't math when you're having to play that kind of systematic progressive football, right? And that's kind of what Matt Patricia was counting on. And he was right, right? For most of this game, his approach was right. My theory is when Matt Patricia knew it was time to switch it up and start bringing some heat or more heat, I think he realized his D was too shot. And the scariest thing in the world is the D.C. is trying to blitz tired defenders. Especially there were a couple reps where you would see him like, even D.T.s, like they get to the line and you could just tell like just how they put their hand down was like, you know, just slower. They were not ready for that. And that's like meme where he goes out, smoke in a cigarette and he's leaning against the wall. And he's got like the way to the world is shoulder slug. You could see it towards the end for sure. Like just them getting in their stances, they were like, you know, when you're that tired, whenever you're even doing something where you just like kind of getting into it, but like, all right, here we go.

That was a big factor. Someone shouted out, I think Wilder and Petty John, as well as being good player, Sanchez is a player too, man. Wilder and Petty John are future stars. Sanchez is the best. Pure past rush. Dude, he was having huge success versus Robertson. And then, and then he just wasn't in anymore. And so you know, why? No, I don't know. Did he get a penalty or something? He got a false start. He was trying to get. He's trying to get a jump on his past rush. They're like, took him out. The guy was just when they watched the all 22, when they watched the all 22, they're going to be horrified by that. We're just showing you one of his plays. Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, we will see one in the deep. Because Archit fades him and makes an amazing throw. Yeah, that's the one to Winston. Yeah, but he does it like three reps straight, dude. Like he wins, dude. What's the rule with rushers with Arch? Only one in your good, man. If he could handle one, but dude, can you also notice? You say they start bringing more pressure in the second half? And you notice Arch, like there's the throw where Arch almost gets hit in the

chain, perfect throw. There's something to this, dude. Yes. Like Arch needs to evade and throw over the fourth. Like he did not know what to do with himself. We're these five second pockets, dude. Hey, when he needs to feel alive, Hunter, he, I think he does needs, I think there's something where he's like, he can outthink himself a little bit. And when that guy's running right at you, there's no time to think. It's like make the throw. And so I think there's something there. Because even watching the all 22 on like some of like his NFL throws, there was some version of pressure. And then when he was just standing back there with all day, it's like he had no clue what to do. So there's something going on there. I don't think the advice is like let them almost hit Arch, but I don't even know how he saw for that. But yeah, it's, it's, I've noticed it, man. Utah Horn is OSU's defense comparable to OU. And it's like talent or, well, it's great. It's dramatically. But let's talk about everything. That's a great question. Utah Horn. So, um, yes, I think comparable and total,

meaning quality of defense. Um, very different in their approach and stylistically, and also different compositionally, like in terms of their best talent, where it is. OU is really good upfront, like legitimately good upfront. I don't know about this year though, dude. Oh, you? Yeah, oh, you. Yeah, I, I think they, I think they, I think they're taking a step back this year from like, three to 10. But they're still elite, but I don't know, man. What does three to 10 mean? What does that mean? Like, FBI. Like going from a three-day-of-prince thing. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm not, we're not arguing. They're the same. I'm saying we're comparing OSU and OU. OU strength is up front. Oh, yeah, for sure, for sure. Sorry. Uh, I think Kip Lewis is okay. I think he's going to come back. But OU also lies about their injuries all the time. So, I have no idea. But, uh, I like their linebackers. They're very experienced.

Kip Lewis has played a lot of football, right? And then they've got some good guys, a couple of good guys in their secondary. But they've got some weak spots that Venable schemes around. Venables is a brilliant defensive coordinator. It just so happens stylistically. His few weaknesses do match up with things Sark is good at. And so that's a problem for them, right? OSU is young and like OSU's most talented players. And I said this in our preview. Remember, Devon Sanchez and Jay Timbins, the guy who came up rocked Mosley and then caused the Relic Brown fumble. That guy's a true freshman. So Devon Sanchez, true sophomore. As those guys grow, as they get more confident in playing their best freshman up front, um, they're going to improve and OSU's defense is going to scale up. Right now their defense is pretty good. But they're a little different. They're not as stacked up front. But I think they're better. Maybe on the back end in total. And also I think because he plays so differently from Venables,

you're you're really comparing a different Patricia is really about coverage. And Venables is about inflicting negative plays. If you want to be simplistic. Different genres of music. It's it's different genres of music and both are good. Like yeah. So I'm a guy who likes a little bit of everything. But none of everything in music. Yeah. And I think these two guys are different genres of music that you would like. It's the kind of rap that I like. It's the kind of heavy metal I like. Yeah. But I don't like most of rap now. Because dude, it's really going downhill. Let's be honest. And I don't like most of heavy metal. But I like I like Pantera. So that's that's kind of how I feel. But they are comparable. But they're very different. If that makes sense. Yeah. Same but different. All right. Before we keep going. Let's hear a quick word from Academy. Turn everyday spending into more fun. Earn unlimited to present your rewards when you spend outside academy.

My academy rewards Mastercard. The official card of fun. All right. Any thoughts on Texas Defense man for you going to the old road runners? Rough for Seth. If we so look Ohio State had five first half drives right they elected to kick off right. So they only had five first half drives they scored on four. Now one of them was a gimmie from the Texas 18 it was a gift it was a gift field goal. However the drive where we stopped them was a stop on downs on R12. Yeah. So don't they had four successful drives. Three of those ended in points and then they had the gift field goal. I don't hold the gift field goal against our defense. Good job with that short field. Here's what I do hold against them when we went forward on the fourth and one fourth and two niblet not niblet. Wingo uh end around. They got stuffed Ohio State didn't have much time and they got the ball on R49. It would have been perfectly legitimate to give up a field goal there.

We gave up a touchdown. Any works part is we tried to zone Smith on that like the whole thing was like you got his own him you got his own them you're going to say we exactly we zoned him and he threw it right in between ball state I kept trying to stress this that's all they were working versus ball state was beating zone because they knew that that's the game plan and so yeah the whole thing of like you mustn't play man it's like that was zone and they right up to seem easy stuff that was a beautiful rope by saying a lot of our initial game plan if we rematch Ohio State in the playoffs it's going to the trash yeah but some of the stuff it's not like we did one magical thing and it fixed everything right in fact Ohio State had two successful drives out of the half but we stopped them and held them to a field goal and one of them right what really changed in the in the second half was we just got them off the field on critical downs and we did it by doing different stuff and there wasn't like one clean oh here's the tweak that won the game yeah we did different stuff

putting mask on in late was huge also I think we just dialed in better we just tackled better we played better we were more physical like all the little small like coaching cliche speak we actually did that we just better attention to detail better attention to assignment more physical tougher more tough minded mix mix mix mix coverages like if you looking I people are you're perfectly you're saying people are trying to say that like much champ tweaked one dial and it changed everything like therefore well text started playing zone in the second half or text started playing man in the second half it's like I went back and charted every Jeremiah Smith rep because I knew this gonna be a thing sometimes it was zone and sometimes it was man yeah and the other thing that we need to appreciate we just watched one of the best college football players who's ever put them on he's on Jeremiah Smith's special y'all and I know Texas fans I wanted to freaking choke all the people like he's overrated we held him down it's like Texas a lot of Texas fans and all fan bases are

like this they think we're a moving picture that we're always evolving and they think the other team is a still photo and nothing changes well whenever you lose people are always like well we're gonna get better throughout the season it's like so as every other team guys have it remained we're not so yeah yeah I mean that's true point is football's dynamic yeah it's never the same and and so when you hear coaches say you're either getting better or you're getting worse they're talking about relativity meaning most teams are getting better around you so you better get better too because you'll be getting worse if you say the same and so Jeremiah Smith got better it's not as physical traits obviously he understands coverage is now guys yep like he he knows where leverage is he knows where the safety's coming from he knows the that help angles of every coverage now look at his routes and also a six foot four two hundred twenty five pound man should not be able to accelerate like that doesn't make sense it's upsetting it's upsetting warm groverson is arguably the

twitchiest guy on our defense and Jeremiah Smith accelerated past him like he was a child and I mean dude that guy could I mean Jeremiah Smith can lift the freaking weight room Connor that guy's like a of a 1,500 pound total bench squat deadlift I had no idea it was that strong but he's like 555,000,500 yeah that's crazy and he's not all bound up like DK Metcalf or he's like kind of stiff yeah Jeremiah Smith's not stiff dude like he's pretty fluid first guy is the size of a tight end so I you're you watch one of the most remarkable football players you're ever gonna lay eyes on on in the college level so give him his flowers and give him his props as a freak and a unicorn that said he's still a human and I think we're down a little bit too just like the rest of the buck eyes yeah yeah I never get one fans like he sucks anyways it's like what you're taking away from our win when you do that by the way when you're like I told you Jeremiah Smith sucks it's like

and also here's the thing Ohio State's last three wins Jeremiah Smith has gone for like over 120 so it's like there's something here too that like and we talked about a little bit of land in but and it's also I can't be mad at you because like they're seeing man and you're going to Jeremiah Smith like I'm not gonna tell you as a coach that's a dumb idea like it's Jeremiah Smith but he was there they're not you're not this game we weren't really playing Ohio State you were playing Jeremiah Smith you know and so it's like at some point too and you see late then they start trying to get the other guys involved and they drop it you know or they missed him ecune but it's like the offense was so Jeremiah Smith focused that you could kind of start obsessing on him and they didn't it took him a while to adjust to like we have other receivers at Ohio State so I don't know there's something to this man he's the last three losses he's he's gone off and there are last three losses and I think it tempts them to focus on him maybe like one or two more plays than you should well look you got a feature freak it's college football and he beat our ass

in the first half six catches 110 yards touchdown right on like what seven eight targets yeah he's incredible but then but then they didn't adjust to when we adjusted well that's it so they did a really good job on cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo Ryan Wingo kind of good did a good job of himself but we went to our fourth fifth six options in the passing offense and won the game off that did you think like Emory Winston was gonna be a key to the game no okay I mean and mostly we know he's a viable option these are third these are third option right he's my favorite receiver just because I like I like what he does when he activates but he was it wasn't great the first one and a half games yeah so I mean we have a lot we can play left handed and beat you that's pretty obvious yeah I don't know if Ohio State can play left handed and beat you which is going to be something to watch that said look at the performance of the rest of the big 10 this league is taking a

step back this year yeah Michigan Oregon yeah Ohio Minnesota of Minnesota State was a valuable data point an SEC seller to all or although they might not be a seller to all are went up and beat Minnesota is the ass and Minnesota is a mid middle middle class big 10 team right yeah so that's a very useful data point I think Ohio State this is not the last we've heard of them but we'll see yeah I didn't come away like feeling any type of negative way about Ohio State I mean they're not as good as like their national championship year but it's like I don't know I just I didn't feel much different about Ohio State I was just I felt different about Texas maybe Justin Wells needs to make a public apology saying McEun is better than Carnot say here's the problem so here's the first thing I had to do when I heard Justin say it I had to google where is McEun is from guess where he's from Paul what region of Texas is it's Texas it's East Texas hey you know what when Justin's really quiet about East Texas guys yeah when they're like drinking purple drink and drive 110 miles

you don't hear it from Justin Wells when that happens with East with East Texas guys because in this guy's have a pretty high fail rate you ever notice that do the East Texas is that is on the field it's like you know you're either you can East Texas is crazy because you're either going to get one of the most legendary players of all time or they're going to have to transfer out immediately there's there's not a lot of middle class to East Texas man there's an indoor nut amount of dudes there who like struggle to put on their pads correctly yes and there's an indoor nut amount of those dudes who just like once they get in a weight room and eat three square meals a day they just turn into like gods so there's no middle ground really trailer yesterday in his ETSA presser was talking about taking a job of Charlie Strong and getting out of East Texas he was funny he was like you know East Texas about 200 years behind the rest of Texas so he was like he was like it was nice to go see a big city and how the other people are living and all that but yeah McEunes from East Texas I was not shocked there I don't have any problem with saying that he's a fast player and he could do

something definitely not in our game he didn't show up but Carnival Tape Man is a was a hell of a player so this is the first round NFL Drop pick so I think BQN is good and look he's wide open on a seam route for touchdown San Gostom yeah by the way San he had arch switch roles right I know I know it was phenomenal in the first half I think people forget how good he was and the second half man it just wasn't happening dude we started sending juice cryer on the C gap path on passing and I was and I saw it like a bunch in the second half and I'm like what are we doing there to pack and he explained it how it works to cover two and all of this but really it was just saying does not like anyone running free in his vision like juice starts to get there later on but the first like nine reps of it juice is barely past the line like he's he's not even close to saying but just there's something with saying he does not like this sense of pressure I don't know what it is now he's fine against the blitz because he's surgical and if you can read it but if someone's coming

unblocked he just it started the he just started to change in the second half accuracy was so don't wild I I wanted to go check that because that was the vibe I got yeah that's kind of the book on saying well I mean also I love like he doesn't like pressure he doesn't like getting hit it's like oh yeah all the quarterbacks of love pressure and getting hit yeah that's like that's really when they thrive you know maybe arch does but under pressure he had a 80% completion rate he had but so here's the weird thing his degrate this is what's crazy his so this is how accurate it is when I'm saying you're degrading his completion he goes from like the greatest at most accurate quarterback of all time to like the 15th most accurate quarterback of all time and that's just two or three throws that can save your ass versus dance so whenever he gets degraded it's not like he goes like unplayable kind of I guess how you'd see him the Miami game or something like that but it's still it's just enough edge Paul to where you're not dealing with the most accurate quarterback

in in college football yeah he looked extraordinary in the first half he was dicing us up dude he's awesome that throwback across the field to the tight end a late game yeah he's the player and then second half dude he was five of 16 yeah wild yeah yeah that's exactly what we need to though man you can not let that guy completed that rate it's insane yeah I just thought they got a little bit Jeremiah Smith obsessed but also I'm it's hard for me to tell you don't go to Jeremiah Smith one on one two but shout out bow masko he's like arch he needs the moment like he needs the matchup and he needs the pressure because if there's not stakes bow does not care about that red I think bow needs to be in press man coverage or just not beyond the field everyone else can be in zone bow mess be in press coverage you know what that's a viable defense by the way like that's the real you just type stuff in his front just x out now there's 10 it's 10 it's like we're running cover 3

derail you press man yeah yeah so it's like but that's a shout out to masko man making some plays there because that's a that's a tough matchup real quick and our defense more broadly I think people got very hyped up by offseason reports and they're not liking seeing the defense try to figure out what it is and who the best personnel are and what the best combos are what they're good at you figure out a lot of that under live fire in a new system and so yeah we got to be a little patient let will do his thing and then also some guys need to pick it up I was really expecting our edge room to be more impactful and disruptive they've not been Lance Jackson's been pretty ordinary through eight quarters this year Xenomizulu to quiet for two games Colin Simmons hit some really bad reps against Ohio State and then kind of turned it on so I'm not sure what's going on there

but we need to pick it up the D line interior D line they need to get tougher at the point of attack they just got some of those runs early man we're not we're not good they got they have eaten and and our linebackers our linebackers they need they don't need guards on them no that's some of the things too like you saw what cryr did late in the game where he was untouched and made that big stop you do that with these linebackers are gonna be good they're not great whenever the guard starts to go run up on them too so it's like D line has to make sure that the linebackers are clean here I also think cryr thrives on convention the more conventional the offense the better he's gonna do he's he isn't above average to good linebacker against that if you make the feel really big and you kind of muddy the reads and it's weird football and it's like guys bursting out of holes he's not expecting it ain't good we're gonna see a lot of that in the SEC so story of this year guys how does Texas handle dual threat quarterbacks with legit targets outside with speed in big wide

open spread concept offenses that's the story of the season for our defense and everyone we play is basically gonna be that that vibe other than maybe Georgia in the big 10 in the SEC title game but even then they spread you out and gunner stocked them all run so one thing that gives me solace because I said the defensive numbers are really not great we'll see those in a second the one thing is you saw is much champ isn't a jester he's from the saving school like those guys tinker so it's like you could get absolutely lit up in the first half and then he will be like okay these are the three concepts that are killing that's what's nice because you have some coordinators that if your game plans wrong drive one you lose so even though some of these numbers here are pretty make me uncomfortable it's like well I don't know if that's gonna continue into the fourth quarter of this game because they'll move that so at least I have I can have some solace in that all right many Kirby defenses get their ass kicked in the first half and then you know to shut out in a second yeah Paul it's game time

this guy doesn't have to adjust much because when you're great off the bat you just you just bathe and and wallow in your excellence and that's game win slow I don't know if wallowing is a good mindset that I want to introduce with his ad read and a really good guy it was good at what I was I thought I had some depth he's he's coded an excellence like a thin film of excellence just covers him at all times give him a call at 8 3 2 5 5 7 1 0 9 5 best stand mortgage guy in the great state of Texas and even if you're not in Texas give him a call he can help you out either directly or let's help you with your deal like it will advise you on how to manipulate the mortgage monkey you're dealing with and it'll be a lot of fun he's done that with several inside Texas readers in our our YouTube watchers and it's a great fun so give him a call he'll help you out just because good dude he'll do it for free but this is the guy you want to go with if you're buying a house or if you need to re-fi skip game call I know you want to be research guy and you're monitoring situations on the internet just make it easy short circuit all the nonsense

and save yourself millions of spam calls for when you enter your name into that would you like help with your mortgage enter your email address and then you get 37 calls from like guys heavy breathing who haven't done a deal in nine years I saw your uh no escape he's the best 8 3 2 5 5 7 1 0 9 5 absolutely let's talk these road runners Paul we're gonna play UTSA man they got the win versus Texas State last week man so that's big for them that's an important rivalry that what is the battle for i35 I believe the either the other rivalry oh sorry and they win it at the very end on our run too so it's like it's this kind of sloppy scrap Texas State doesn't look sharp Brad Jackson's having a tough game UTSA is getting a bunch of penalties the game flow is a nightmare it feels like the the clock is getting stopped every like minute and a half it was hard to watch just game flow wise uh that first half second half uh better better show was being put on so UTSA right now

two and a one's first text state and then UT Rio Grande Valley FC FCS team there yeah you know what they're not very good yeah there the there's a lack of talent on this team that's upsetting and you can explain exactly why because I told this to you I was like I was like man I'm struggling like when I was watching Texas State it's like well okay I can point to like Chris Donne those sparks there's not a lot of that on UTSA and then Paul immediately gave me the stat on the portal so what's going on there with them they lost eight starters to the portal after the window closed yeah eight and of those eight starters eight I think I would say eight of their best twelve players on the team yeah and I mean not four five six I mean like one two three four seven eight nine I mean it's devastating so think what that would do to Texas just go in our depth chart

remove eight of our starters and it's eight of our best eleven or twelve players yeah what's our record gonna be yeah I mean we're not gonna go four and eight that's that's true we're hoping to like go to the cheese at bowl right yeah not the goal like it was seven and five eight and it's just it's crazy because I still think of UTSA is like Frank Harris era when they had the the wide receiver trio it's like the portal has been brutal man because it's like we'll talk about you know solid quarterback Henderson's a good running bag but kind of after that man like I'm just looking on the tape for like who is popping and it's just it's yeah it just looks different man and it's uh it bums me out because I like trailer a lot well do we want to talk about them within each segment or do you want to do something broadly before we get into it what do you want to just get into it yeah you can yeah you can talk uh stick on offense but uh we can talk globally good experience quarterback and then they've got a running back who'll be the fastest guy on the field yeah he's in

the 10 twos right he's uh he ran a 10-1 something his senior year of high school and he has not gotten slower he is he's a fastened pads guy too well Henderson running back dude seven point eight yards per carry here are my notes seven point eight yards per carry fast he breaks big runs and you ain't catching them there's no angle on the sky so could we fit a wrong run wrong and he pops it yes that should happen in the game is it going to happen three times probably not I just want to talk about this real quick here they don't run very much there are 119th on offense and rushing plays rate which is so weird for a seven point eight yard back who I think is the real feature star of the the offense Paul so it's not they're not even going to it a lot which I think is strange he weighs about 180 pounds so I think he's on a pitch count it well they do a lot of cool stuff if you notice they take advantage show like there a lot of the runs to him at least it versus Texas

state is they get the line all moving this one way and they shift one way and then they turn back and hand it to him just so he can go off in a different direction so they kind of just merge everything over and do a strange style of handoff and he just snatches it and runs back the other direction you gotta watch for that too if you like overflow um because they do it so they run they do run so rarely I'm wondering if the rarity of the run game also is what it's allowing the success of it I don't know if it would be that successful in that regard if they were running it every down but it's just I don't know man it's just like that seems like that's your player don't really the only one on offense has popped to me and he still doesn't get it a lot yeah again I think they would break him if they ran him 23 times and I know every game I think he'd be dead he'd be gone by mid season so yeah it's it's kind of like the the usage rate player in basketball we're like this guy only plays 13 minutes a game but if you if you make a stat's a full game he would be averaging 27 points nine boards and six assists why does then this guy start

and then they start him and he sucks because he's a usage rate guy right he he thrives in that brief window um Henderson's not that constricted or limited but UTSA just can't make him a bell cow he's just not built that way if you if you see his body type you'll you'll understand why he's so he's not built for that and then also they they have a passive offense they always have they do they do and um and then they use the run game to hit you with big big runs like they did that with Robert Henry last year so um the count obviously very experienced quarterback if he didn't have a deep ties with trailer and from East Texas and and the Macown family who's like who are like uh you know like the mannings of East Texas right um then he would be somewhere else he he'd be quarterbacking a lower tier power for team in like the ACC or the big 12 uh but he's at UTSA he's a good veteran quarterback he can make throws he's accurate he's edge of getting NFL drafted UDF like valuable UDFA I'd say that's

his talent level yeah and he's just but he's not like I don't know man the passing offense is just at least first-time state it's like so short pre-snaps centric yeah that's just like it's just like screen screen screen they don't have scary dudes it wow why but Amador's a good possession receiver yeah there's no threat to the wide receiver room and it's all just so I have in my notes so like all of their success in the past like somebody was just playing off and then Macown just threat he sits down and throws it but I was like does this team does this offense work at all if you press like that is because that's all it was was just like a guy sits down and throws it but if you if you press it's like I don't even know what you can do at that point um to this it's just I remember I mean they had that trio at UTSA they were like legit would their trio UTSA could have been top 15 in power four that year with Frank Harris like oh yeah I think you can go higher like top 10 like they had a it's just very different man and I hadn't realized that Paul does the

previews and Paul's pays attention to G6 much more than I do so it took me a lot longer to realize kind of what had happened there but the offense was it's just not a lot of fun it's just like a bunch of at the line stuff a lot of 11 personnel and they flex the tight end there short concepts their run game is vertical and it is gap scheme so you will have to deal with that but I don't know man just wasn't like super impressed did you happen to watch their O-line at all yeah yeah in a second that's the answer to get the ball quickly yeah they do all right in a second like the second half felt really different but they actually started trying to pick it up and like pass deep a lot of those opposite way handoffs I was talking about and at first I was like I was like do this offense doesn't throw deep that's not true they do throw deep they're at a 16% completion percentage deep like they cannot connect deep like it's crazy and like they do run the they do run the concepts but like they are not on the same page dude like maybe one out of 10

here 1.6 out of 10 shots even connect deep so they have like no explosivity right now so trailer realizes kind of what he's got and trailer is a really good coach from like a motivator perspective in like roster building he's great at finding talent that's like hidden he's really good at adjustments on the fly like I think he's a better broad x's and oscoach than people think people think he's like a recruiter yeah he actually gets ball like if you ever watch those old Gilmer offenses they were pretty legit man like they're fun and I think he's pulled back but he sees the big picture and his big picture is we have a lot of short fat o-alignment that don't pass pro super well we don't have a ton of speed outside we've got a ultra fast running back and we've got a veteran quarterback what are you gonna do you're gonna throw the ball short you're gonna try to wear people out and then you're gonna take your deep shots late when you think that you have an opportunity and then people start to overplay your short routes

you start doing double moves and then a guy like David Amador can beat you deep right they can't just roll out and like call whatever they want because if they do their mechanical is gonna get sacked twice and they're gonna throw a pick so or two and oh props to them I just think that they were very lucky both sparks was not in that time for Texas State and Brad was off like Brad was hurt and yeah he played awful and it was like bow not being that hurt but also he was just missing stuff that I've never seen Brad missed like Brad had a really rough game in there so I was surprised to see that I was like did he get hurt versus Texas or did Texas mess with his head or like what was going on because that was a that was a tough outing for Brad Jackson that Texas State so this quick global stuff they're 21st and success rate what you liked and what you saw from the Texas offense at the end of the game they're pretty good at that so I adjusted here explosivity rate is a simple number just means how many what percentage of plays did they get over 12 yards on a run or over 16 yards

on a pass so they had that at 10. Do you like that definition of explosives? Yeah because what they did with so originally the coaching standard was 20 yards for a pass would be explosive but what the analytics guys did is they went and like tried to find the minimum threshold that actually produced maximum results and the number wasn't 20 the number was actually 16 in the pass so that's nice too to know that you don't it doesn't have to be 20 yard bombs really if you get over anything over 16 in the past you're gonna have the same kind of effect is if you're getting 20 so I like that they kind of sought that out what's the minimum threshold here for effective explosive yeah I've always struggled with the past run 12 makes sense to me I've honestly thought maybe make it 10 but yeah 12 makes sense to me I always thought the past should be like 18 but I guess that's the problem at some point it's a speed limit right it's like it's illegal if I'm going 31 but 30 is all good like at some point you have to pick a number right yeah and so so yeah

you can you can always argue that but they're really bad here 110th in the country only about 10 percent here have it great they're stressed a little bit yeah I apologize I don't mean to jump in look at just for simple counting stat look at yards per play yeah and then think about who they played yeah Texas State not exactly known for you know what their FEI is on defense Texas State right now 121 yes so they played Texas State and UT Rio Grande Val so the FCS just like the the P4 the P2 really has tears Rio Grande Valley is not in one of the top tears they are not Montana they are not like an FCS team that can come in and beat a P a lower tier P4 or even a G6 team right this is a very poor FCS team and poor FCS teams are what you saw when Miami played FAMO

and 177 to 7 yeah calling off the dogs and playing the third teamers so let's just I just want to give you some context of who they played in that first week and UT Rio Grande Valley kind of hung with them that game a little bit and like I said Texas State's defense is not good either so that's kind of the reality here is that they're not explosive they're just nickel and diming success rate but it's it's going to look very different versus the University of Texas Paul I think that's interesting so they I pointed out globally that they don't run a lot but they're good in rushing success rate yes so when they do do it they're having success their explosivity rate is good they're on 12 percent they're getting runs over 12 yards so 47 that's why I'm like dude go to the run game more you'll see it's the only thing I wrote the 39th in guards per rush like you're finding value here and you're not utilizing it you're doing Nintendo PlayStation guy what well Henderson weighs 180 pounds and he's like there's there's little there's little backs to the survive man it's like

and I'm not asking for you to become the number one rushing offense I'm asking you for not to be 190 so give me like give me three give me three more runs like the little backs that survive tend to be like 57185 and they have that weird little thick body they're not like lean guys who are sprinters yeah those guys you'll break them if you use them just telling you I've seen that archetype a thousand times if you overrun those guys they break they break they don't just get tired they you're done for the season give me three more rushing attempts for game okay I'll give you three I'll give you three give me three and then we can look at the passing plays like Paul said this is a passing offense they're 19th here awful an explosivity rate awful in the actual explosivity which is how much value they get out of their explosives per play so they're struggling there what's weird here two Paul is their success rate is solid at 52 but the yards per pass is still six so it's just like

connect right now if you play man i don't know what this offense could do if you play often they're just he's going to pre snap and say that's all they did so yeah it's just it's not it's not the Frank Harris area i guess i can try keep trying them press that upon people so i count as not been sacked this year is that correct yes according to these here they haven't sacked anyone not to jump ahead to the defense on the flip side they have not sacked anyone so yeah defense is not great either so right now somehow with all of this opponent adjusted they're still the 56th offense let's let's let's play Texas and kind of see what happens here because me and Paul said hey there's there's some leaks here that'll likely be exposed nothing nothing crazy here they're doing really good when they do get into the red zone i'm taking field goals but they're 105th and actually scoring the touchdown so that's that's all scoring percentage is a very deceptive statistic you have to look at td only man you got to look at td only because this would just tell you this is the number one red zone team in the

country at 100 percent when reality 50 only 50 percent of the time they're actually getting in the touch down there so elite and sacks allowed because it's zero they don't have any interceptions they don't really put it in the harm's way too much they're not going to go with foam so they're not killing themselves in that regard Paul kind of like turning the ball over but that's because the offense is so safe that it also limits their upside so we got to get to a next video after this we got to move fast Paul on the defense here but let's give you a global thought to the utsa defense man so the classic utsa teams that we're all familiar with had some dudes on defense particularly pass rushers they always had that one edge that they make of their star edge blitzer they make up their feature guy and we got one of those guys his name is trade more remember them they've always had a guy like that jimori robinson was the guy that's he did trade they don't have that guy they they have that guy but he's not that guy does that make sense so kooper i was hearing like you know they'll rank prospects and he's not like gonna get drafted

but he's still like a player that they're looking for at utsa i hate this guy's effort i mean i was upset with on counter plays he's handshaking with the guard he's not dinting him they're both agreeing not to hit each other i some of it is like contain rush but he is not trying to get to the quarterback really disappointed in in this kooper players play style he's a lazy player he's taking reps off do not like this guy he looked like when we were in high school and we were going thursday shells practice and you tell the dude across me like dude if you fire out hard i will I swear to god i'm gonna murder you yeah exactly in shells i don't want to get hurt before the game you don't need to get hurt like let's just freaking like let's have a little thud and agree that the rep is over he's kind of doing that yeah it was because i was like i'm like he might be a prospect i'm gonna watch him specifically and i was like oh yeah no good they like i said so here's the crazy part is like they're they're defensive backs are like the whole whole defense so they do mix man and keep

high safeties and solve explosives they have a lot of three high looks to in the safety yep five on line but they have zero pass rush they have no sacks versus Texas state or Rio Grande Valley so literally zero sac rate so the debees are having to do everything for this defense and it's you it's just it's not gonna end up great when you do that man there's there's there's no help here there's no help here the debees have to control the whole defense so classic uts a dna of defense is high pressure high sac rate high negative plays inflicted lots of stunts and then they are feast or famine in the secondary they're gonna get a pick six or you're gonna get hit a touchdown right that's by design that's how uts a plays football and over the course of the game they kind of wear you down right and they're always able to come back like Frank Harris and those uts a teams were known for their incredible comebacks right a lot of that was the defense getting the ball back right they can't they can't be a methodical defense they can't play cover four and let's

catch the ball in front of them because they're not good at that and they can't blitz and put pressure on you and try to create like defensive explosives they're in this in between zone where they aren't living their df defensive dna and when that happens to football teams their defense doesn't get better as the season goes on gets worse and here and here's what I'm talking about too with like this is it's just bad like the db's having to do everything so their run defense is really really bad they're rushing explosivity meaning like the total impact of when they do allow it is bad they don't allow it a lot but when they do you're going for 80 like that's that's what the difference between rate and cumulative explosivity and then their yards for rush is 124th man so it's like yeah it's great and so here's it when I say the db's are the only ones on defense that are able to work that's it dude like there is no pass rush there is no run defense you just hope these db's will make

something happen and they're not bad like this is their past defense like they're pretty good past defense but that's all UTSA has right now yeah I mean look basic basic counting stats 6.4 yards opponent pass not bad not bad at all yeah 5.8 per carry for the opponent that's also factoring the sacks but they have no sacks yeah now they played Texas State Texas State legitimately as an explosive run game particularly at that level and Texas State ran well on them not surprising UT Rio Grand Valley yeah come on guys like this like let's run the ball let's work on some concepts let's get a score up where we need it and let's get KJ Lacey in the game and go get healthy and ready do you expect a big psychological letdown for Texas after the Ohio State one I don't know I think it's a good question and all the answers come up with like I don't really care man like it's if it is a little bit of a drop off then like whatever I know the whole

thing is like killer instinct week after week I don't think I would learn anything from it if they came out and killed them or if they came out and dropped off like so it's ultimately I refused to answer the question like I don't know it could happen but I'm not it wouldn't piss me off necessarily should happen sugar poppy is having a fit at our disparagement of UT Rio Grand Valley so we apologize if that was your alma mater we apologize brother um but that's all they have past defense that's all you need to know cubic accurate zero percent zero sacks so no pressure db's fight for your life against camcolman wingo and moseley like that's all you got so dfvi they're overall opponent adjusted adjusting for Rio Grand Valley um they're 78 in the country they're always in bad situations 117th and standard downs rate um they're giving up a huge success on passing downs as well 119 so if you get behind the sticks you're able to get out of it versus this team

early downs EPA is interesting so they're not allowing it a lot on early downs but um if you get into later downs it doesn't matter those numbers shouldn't be inverted but it happens sometimes so you might not have a great first down 30 19 you're gonna complete still fourth down lock down dude four there's maybe you have what been two fourth downs they faced it this early in the season doesn't mean anything to me they are oddly doing okay in red zone d though but game two so probably low instance rate but I got to I think the overarching theme is if you know a little ball you kind of keep up with all the Texas teams you're like hey UTSA's got a good program don't take them lightly it's not the UTSA you it's not who you have in your head I've I've realized this Paul is this UTSA's 117 and 6 again and they're not the Frank Harris teams that could legitimately go kick a

power four teams ask particularly like the lower tier of power for sure um they're if they played Frank Harris era UTSA this UTSA team would lose by three or four touch shells I agree I agree and they're just not they're 136 that's last and tackles for loss per game 130th and tackling so it's like they're just not able to do anything disruptive that set offenses back and then this is what I didn't like from trailer team 129th and penalties per game um so and that's why I told you that game is was ugly dude they're stopping the clock every minute and a half it was so disjointed so there were 11 penalties per game teams to get penalties disgust me discuss because look over here dude Texas is sitting at three penalties per game for fifth in the country man we're a highly disciplined tight operation we run the tight ship Connor if you don't get penalties and Texas get over the get over the past guys this is the new ever get penalties we talk about this is the new sarke era man that's right um and so we don't do explosives and we don't do penalties

and you see that they're having these numbers against the 101st ranked opponent adjusted schedule right now right look over here Texas has the number one ranked opponent adjusted schedule so that's not going to change yeah it's not going to change it's a change up this weekend but then it'll come right back yeah special team struggling for them as well guys we have to get out here pretty quick I just want to give you a quick rundown of Texas because normally I can kind of tell you what's going on with Texas um so I'll just try to give you some some key numbers as I come across them so Texas defense is is up on top so I'm talking about the defense here we are struggling with success rate on defense and let's look at the when I say success rate I want you to know exactly what I mean by that so here's the exact numbers means you gain 50% of yards needed on first down you gain 70% of yards needed on your second down you gain 100% of yards needed on third down so that's the actual metric I don't mean that they move the ball forward three inches is they're able to stay in a good situation you know what I haven't looked at the numbers you

know it's killing us his first down yeah I'll have to see I because I don't have it segmented but don't you see us in second five and second before a lot yeah you have to that's that's why success rate matters because they have the whole play no yeah so we're not doing good and success rate guys like um team during good situations against us um we're also experiencing explosives at two high of a rate of course Ohio State didn't help that but we're 98th in the country in this defensive explosive rate so these are some of the things where I'm telling you like the Texas defense is statistically not doing great right now um so we need to pay attention to some of these things rushing defense is fine in explosivity rate we're about 37th like pretty good not a lead um opponent yards per rush we're slightly above average we're giving up 3.5 but it's not those years of the Texas rush defense being top three across the board so big difference there pay attention um for future games and then let's see the passing defense so our explosivity rate is

that 18% man for a hundred and twenty first in the nation um so once again defense is overall is allowing too many big plays to occur and then the success rate is really high here two ball 96 in the country so this is what I mean it if you watch that Ohio State game second half you're like Texas elite defense and don't get confused with elite NFL talent and elite NFL uh execution Texas executions not great right now even though you can name eight players on there that are going pro so must champ has a lot of work to do here um but still ultimately adjusted right here they have us it's it's seventh uh for DFI but there's all these little leaks standard downs rate Paul 112th so people are just in really good spots against us man so Connor I think that's a great note to end on and we need one more thing to address the super chat do and let's get out of here no I still got you're not kicking me out of here I still got third down defense don't don't you allow this did the trailer misses window or does he like UTSA

um probably both right yeah so look he did misses window um I think he underestimated the degree to which NIL de facto free agency would influence and and wreck his program because he's built such a great cohesive culture he's like ah I don't I don't lose players to the tram I don't guys don't leave me you know they love me uh I make them better and I can show this and then I think he was shocked to the degree to which a dude getting a even a $25,000 raise would just leave UTSA right yeah much less the guys that are making 150,000 more that they can't do 25k yeah uh that you know that's that's interesting we got to talk about someday about the difference culturally between big 10 and SEC that some coaches are talking about SEC coaches keep talking about like I have dudes leaving me who are happy for 10 grand more on a $400,000 contract yeah it's like doesn't make sense right but the big 10 guys are taking

under their number to play for Indiana so kind of interesting anyway uh trailer underestimated that he did miss his window in a sense the other party missed is ADs a lot of them are morons and they hire based on the breakout they don't hire based on sustained success and the larger context of your performance so what they see in trailer is oh 12 and 2 11 and 3 oh 7 and 6 he's on the downs it's down spiral it's like I'm not gonna look at his roster I'm not gonna yeah he's still the same coach but yeah he's higher on the the one breakout year and what's funny is smart coaches get out in that one breakout year because they know the next year they're one five and seven because they lost other seniors so trailer can revive himself but I don't think the quality of job offer is gonna be the same I still think he would be a great hire for many many big 12 teams and I mean I don't think he's just a creature of Texas I think he's best close to Texas I think you do well in the ACC I think you do well in a lot of spots

but I want to see him at like Baylor TCU something like that man I would I would like to see but he needs to be wary of you know going to a power for where he's also going to be in the same situation whereas players are going to get poached like he needs to go somewhere that he can aggregate some talent because we've been able to see what he can do when he can maximize there but right now UTSA is absolutely cooked talent wise here's my number Paul about 50% on third down this is the one I had to get to all show 107 like the defense has real problems through two games so hey well we're about to play some good offenses we can these have to change and these have to change fast for the Texas defense you're gonna see flash plays you're gonna see NFL players they need to they need to figure that out 100% we won't even go through Texas offense it's pretty good right now but not great so that's kind of the answer there but I'm most obsessed with paying attention to the defense right now as most champ continues to to tinker pull indeed remove we got to go shoot deep dive film room
