So it is Trade Deadline Week. We will have a Trade Deadline show for you Friday. Our top story for Legacy Heading and Killing Home and Opamance and No Interest for Year. That's able to legacy Heading and Killing. The oiter is getting Conor Murphy to be a shutdown, second pairing, right shot, penalty killing, minute munching, cycle, stop and defensive defensive. They got him yesterday, 2.2 cap at the rest of the year. Yesterday I stated that it's my belief that I could see two more trades coming and I'll
04tell you why. Andrew Magiappani got a shift today down in Bakersfield with the condors. That's the rules. You got to at least suit up for one game. The oiter has protected the asset, so to speak, with Magiappani. Edmonton in order to create some cap flexibility, they're probably going to have to package a pick with Magiappani, potentially take back a player and a pick, maybe a later pick, from another organization, or conversely take back a prospect which would likely require a higher pick. So we'll see what ends up transpiring with Andrew Magiappani over the course of the next 48 hours. Allow me to suggest you that if Edmonton is able, and it just unfortunately hasn't worked out for Magiappani this year, if they are indeed able to move his contract out, that could easily facilitate a second trade for Edmonton, potentially a guy that plays in the top nine. Now in a perfect world, you're probably looking at a center.
06I do want to clarify something that was said on yesterday's show because somebody picked up on it and did not correctly say what I said. I said that I had time for Nikola Waw from Toronto. Edmonton needs a bigger, right shot center. I never said for one second that the oiter's were getting Nikola Waw. I said I like the player. I do think that the oiter's, if they move out Magiappani, and if you factor in the 1.15 that's on the books for them down in the minors, you basically got two and a half to three million bucks to play with here to get a player. That's going to put you in a price point and a range for somebody coming back in a perfect world. Maybe you get them for two playoffs, the player. What's the requisite cost on that? Probably at least a minimum second round draft choice, so we'll have to wait and see. At no point did I say the Edmonton order is outright.
07We're going to get Nikola Waw. We've talked about Waw for the last three or four months. I spoke in January about the fact that maybe there was a guy on a team that thinks they're a playoff team that may become available and that's changed the landscape. Can tell you, we're here in Rumlings that St. Louis is certainly open for business and unlikely to directly impact Edmonton, but could theoretically have a secondary cascading effect? As an example, let's just say a team wants to get in on Robert Thomas. Maybe they need to move out a $3 million for a sake of argument right wing or a right shot center. Somebody's got a fact. Maybe that's something that the oiders could get a part of at that point and it would in turn give up a pick. Edmonton clearly in the business of moving out draft capital to improve the team here now. All right, let's go in the oiders now, audio vault.
07It is for direct work where the oilers now audio vault is brought to you by direct work where in these type budget times direct work where is this superhero? Your wallet deserves skewed selection low prices at direct work where earlier today. I caught up to Edmonton orders head coach Chris noblock. We're joined by Edmonton orders head coach Chris noblock a day after the Edmonton orders acquired Conor Murphy from the Chicago Black Outs for a second rounder in 2028, the Outs for entertaining 50 percent of the money. And Chris, you have history with Conor Murphy's father, Gordon Murphy and obviously the team had a need for defensive defenseman. Your thought on the acquisition and the bloodlines a bit there. Yeah, coach with Conor's dad for three years to in Philadelphia, or sorry, to in Philadelphia and other two in Hartford. And yeah, I know the family quite well. And yeah, about a year and a half ago, I actually texted Gordon Murphy asking or saying
08hopefully there'll be a day when he can cheer for the oilers and Conor at the same time. So I guess that time has come and I think Conor is going to add a lot to our team. You know, we've been wanting better defensive game from our team and that is exactly what Conor is a defensive defenseman. Yes, he can move the puck, but his biggest attribute is being able to defend. All right. Tonight, the Ottawa Senators, their dead last and shot percentage will give up a lot of shots. The next two teams you play Ottawa and Carolina give up the fewest shots against the entire league. Your offensive game has not been the issue. You scored 17 goals in three games. Obviously, you want to shore up the D, but you still have got to generate, especially against the team that's had their own challenges keeping goals out of the net. Yeah, they defended really well and they're cool turning, maybe disappointing at times this season, but they don't give up very much for shots or chances against. So it's really important that we keep our game simple and get in box to the net and trying
09to find those second opportunities. Josh Samansky was recalled yesterday, Willie played at night. Yes, you will center a third one. Okay, what have you thought of him? You got five games before the Olympics before he went off and represented Germany, which is incredible. I thought he played really well, just a handful of games, you know, playing about 10 minutes a night, but he was mostly playing with Savoy and Rosalvek and that line was really good for us. Now it was Savoy playing as well as he is right now and scoring, staying with Leon. But hopefully he can center more of a physical shutdown line with Frederick and Paul Colson. That is Ableton Otters head coach Chris Knoblock. It is 344 in oil country. Here is others general manager Stan Bowman on acquiring counter Murphy yesterday. He's someone that takes a lot of pride in playing defense and being hard to play against. He's got that physical size and willing to play a rugged game.
15I think he enjoys the challenge of playing against good players and trying to shut them down. That's what he knows what he is as a player. If I had to say one thing about him as he has a clear identity as someone that takes a lot of pride in playing hard defense and whether it's battling it in front of them. In the corners blocking shots, making a simple play, getting the puck going to the offensive zone. I think that those are attributes which are in high demand in pressure situations. I think it's a lot of what we're lacking right now and I think giving a nice addition to a defensive group. That is Stan Bowman who traded for counter Murphy when he was the GM of the Chicago Blackhawk. Scott Murphy from the Arizona coyotes in a deal for Nicholas Sharms and Murphy spent nine years in Chicago. Will not play tonight.
16Will wear number five and I asked Stan Bowman on the potential of making another trade. Coming into this week, our number one focus was to try to find defense and it's mold and I think Connor was the perfect match for that. I feel much better today than I did yesterday with the way we're looking and now if we can make additional ads, that would be nice. But right now, nothing is really at that end stage where we're ready to make moves. We've had many conversations about potential additions but we'll have to see where that goes over the next few days here. That is Stan Bowman, Evan Sonotter's General Manager again, nothing so far today. Trade deadline one o'clock on Friday the orders acquiring Connor Murphy yesterday. I asked Connor McDavid earlier today about acquiring a player when you don't give up somebody
17off of your active roster. I think that's important, obviously, you know, funny way to add without having to subtract is always a great thing. As you mentioned, you know, draft picks that given our stage of where we're at in this organization, draft picks aren't as valuable to us as some of my Connor, so yeah, I'm excited about the move. There you go. Well, and the orders take on the hocks again, Murphy will not play tonight, he'll play Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes, the others with bat-to-bat games against teams that give up the fewest shots on goal against the NHL, Ottawa tonight in Carolina on Friday, they're both averaging 24 shots against per game. All right, when we come back, we'll get to NHL today in the game day liner report, Bob Stopper joining you for my specific, it's 348 in oil country. 14:22Chris noblox seen earlier today, Connor Ingram will start in goalies seven six and one of two point seven five goals against average, eight ninety four, save percentage of the season. He said nine quality starts out of the 14 that he started this year and has an eight ninety four, save percentage as I mentioned now. The others the other night are the day in San Jose went with that Coleman boot shirt nursing Walman and stash the in Emerson again, Conor Murphy arrives into Edmonton this afternoon, but will not play tonight. Yesterday at practice, Walman in boot shirt at home in stash the and nurse in Emerson, Conor David Ryan Newton Hopkins and Zach Hyman, I expect the orders to return to dry settle was Savoy and Ross Levitt, Gisemansky will play on a line with the Coleson and Trent Frederick, Eric Chris noblox say that in the last segment and that would leave. And I'm Henry Curtis, Lazar and Casperi captain, captain is just getting back up and running. The others are third and goals for a first in the power play twenty six and the penalty
25kill twenty six and goals against the twenty seventh in save percentage. Ottawa's dead last and save percentage, despite being tied for first in a cell only giving up twenty four point four shots against her game as there are also thirtieth and the penalty kill the others got to get to power play and Ottawa is twenty second and goals against eleven goals for eighth on the power play. Travis Green is the head coach general manager, of course, former other Steve Stales, Tim Stutzle will carry a nine game points streak into tonight's game. He's got six goals, 12 points. Against them, it's an all time equals thirteen points, 18 gangs, but minus ten. Stutzle with Batherson and Geroux, Dylan Cousins. Good fit for him. And Ottawa thought that would be the case with Brady Conchock and Ridley Greg is a real antagonistic type of player. Shane Pinto with Cousins and Michael Amodio, Lars Ellor along with Stephen Halliday. This guy Halliday is a big kid, six foot four, it's got some skill, four goals, eleven
27points, twenty seven NHL games in Fabian, Zaneland, but a twenty four goal season minus thirty four was San Jose back to twenty three, twenty four. Two studs in the backhand, Jeff Sanderson's son Jake Sanderson plays twenty five minutes game. He's got forty eight points and fifty nine games plus eight. He's with Artem Zubb, Thomas Shabbat plays twenty one fifty a game, a little bit down offensively. Twenty four points and forty four games. He's with any new FA Nicholas Jensen, Tyler Clevin, like Sanderson out of the NCAA Powerhouse North Dakota, Clevin with Jordan Spence. Spence is the player that Ken Holland traded out of LA and he's been good for Ottawa this year. He's plus thirteen, nineteen points and fifty eight games and then Ken Holland turned around and signed Brian Dumlin and Cody C.C. Linus Olmark this year as the number one goalie in Ottawa is seventeen eight and six to two point eight zero goals against average eight eighty five save percentage.
