Blayne Buddy Streeper Wins Record 11th Fur Rondy Race

The Musher from Fort Nelson in British Columbia crossed the finish line on 4th Avenue in downtown Anchorage on March 1st, 2026. His team dominated the 78-mile sprint over 3 days. Streeper led from start to finish, posting the fastest time each day. His main rival, last year's champion Annie Mallow, from Quebec, took 2nd place with strong runs, but couldn't catch him. Crowds cheered wildly if Streeper raised his arms in victory, getting a big hug from his wife. He called it a lifetime achievement for his whole family, including his father and uncle, who competed here in the 1980s and 90s. This victory tops the 80-year history of the race. Streeper first tied then passed legends like George Atlow with 10 wins, and Roland Lombard with 8. He's been racing here since he was a kid and says it's the top prize in sprint mushing.
