Mario Tiribasi will join us from a celebratory United Center for the Hawks beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3 2 in overtime. Girls number 20, 21 and 22 for Tyler Bertuzzi on January 4th, just as we all predicted. Tyler Bertuzzi on a 50 hole pace almost 40 hole pace. Yeah, I mean, he's he's been on what they like that awesome. What they call a heater with six goals and eight points in his last six games. Second hat trick of season, um, they did it on home ice. I didn't even know that was legal. I thought I thought it's contracts that he could only have big games on the road, but it's more fun for him to be the villain. I think he enjoys the villain.

1:18Roll very, very much. Absolutely. Yeah. But I mean, what a difference. A week and a half makes heading into the Christmas break. Yes. Everything was doom and gloom. Fire this guy. Fire that guy talks won't win a game. Blah blah blah. And then they come back. And they're four one and one since the since the holiday break on the feet in 2026. And they're not. And they're beating good teams. They beat the Dallas stars twice. They beat the Washington capitals playoff team. They beat the Golden Knights, the Western conference darlings. They had the, uh, they were a goal post away from being the outliers. They've got a point for now who are, who are a playoff team. So they, they're doing this in a very tough portion of their schedule without their top two centers, who are also their top two best offensive players. There's a lot of credit to go around. Tyler Patuzzi has been incredible.

2:23Uh, Andre Berkowski is chippin' in with multiple assists every night, table tear, Binance picking up like the veterans that are being paid to be the go to guys are being the go to guys. While, you know, Oliver Moore and Nicholas kind of settle into their roles. Artim Levishinoff has played very well. Uh, the last 10 12 games, losing Bidard and Nazar is not just losing your two best players. You're losing losing your top two centers. Yes. They've correct me from wrong. I've heard this once or twice on other hockey podcasts smarter than this one. There's only a handful of those centers are very important in hockey. I've heard that. Yes. That's the rumor I hear these days. My sources tell me it's been reported. Yes. Any team in the league loses their top two centers, regardless of, yeah, go and they should go team by team. They're going to be in a just it's almost like this team had to start training camp all over again and figure out who's playing with who.

3:25And what their roles are, and it took them a few games to do it. What did they lose the first five without Bidard? Yeah, one in six. Yeah, one in six to start the without Bidard. And now they're playing grace and they're, but they're playing like even tonight. This is tonight is a game that they can hang their hats on because coming in the night, second half of back to back has been a disaster for the Blackhawks. Oh, and for outscore 27 to seven in those four games, the Pittsburgh game, the Buffalo game, those at Anaheim Nightmare game, the Detroit shut out at home were the other games. They were never in any of those games. No, tonight, they did not play great. They were not, but they played good enough to keep it close and they found a way. They didn't pack it in when they fell down two to one, just like last night in Washington, when Ryan Leonard scored that really amazing goal to tie the game. Yeah. Last year's Blackhawks team folds.

4:26Oh, 100% lose four to two. I said on the show last night that after Leonard scored, I was just sort of waiting for the collapse to happen and waiting for the avalanche, not the Colorado avalanche who lost tonight, Chloe, and they lost her captain. Like, like, oh, it's two one. It's going to be three one four one five one. We're going to say, well, you know, they hung in there for 45 minutes and golf club without the dark. Great job. No, they kept fighting. And here's the thing. I brought this up on last night's show. I'm going to bring it up again today. Third period. The Hawks out shot the gold night seven to two. They are not sitting back waiting to lose. And it's something that they had done the last two, three years for sure. I think they did it a little bit early on in the year this year. This team is learning valuable lessons. They are learning how to win. They're learning how to compete. They're learning how to battle. And you're seeing these things that Jeff Flashle has been pounding into their head. And since day one of training camp, it is finally starting to take hold. And I'm not going to go. I'm not going to be a complete me polity and say, maybe it's a blessing in disguise that nasa armba darker hurt. It's not.

5:30But it is forced them, as you said, to if you're going to survive, if you're going to compete, you have to play this very, very simple game. Jeff Flashle talked about it in the pregame today. And so we have just been very, very good about our execution. We're checking all those things that that lesser skilled teams can do that helps lead the offense, the hawks have been doing it. And even if you want to look at the Pittsburgh game, which is a gold tending loss, Spencer and I would tell you everybody would tell you, even that game they were playing that way, it just got away from them early, because what, four of the first five shots, whoever was went in and it was over for all intents and purposes. But man, they are just battling their asses off and they don't quit. I love that in the third. For the second game in a row, they took it to the opposition and said, we are not losing this game. We're down to the one. We are winning this game, but choose these chords with 1136 left in the third. They keep the foot on the neck. It took some minute and 18 seconds and over time for the hawks to win. I love this game. It was the little event. It was kind of boring, but it's what the hawks need to do to get two points.

6:38Well, that's the kind of game we've heard that all season from Jeff Blasio. When you don't have your A game, you have to figure out a way how to win that game. They finally did that tonight. They obviously were not playing their best hockey. It was a slower team tonight. The first period was was the second period was a lot more of that. Yeah, but the third period, they just said, hey, you know what, we got two days before our next game. Let's just put everything we got into this and see what happens. You know, gutsy, gutsy performance. And all those things you talked about, that's coaching. That's coaching. And that's the players buying into this coaching staff's philosophy, the trusting, trusting the process. I know that's a famous, you know, that's the way I say that. But yeah, that's what we're seeing here that things keep getting better. And as you mentioned, with no bad, and no nays are these guys needed to get back to basics, get back to playing simple, more self. I asked Jeff Blasio today before the game says they're playing better offensively because they're being predictable for each other, where they know where everybody's supposed to be and they're there. They're getting the puck through the neutrals on a lot better.

7:51They didn't get a ton of offensive zone time in the first 40 minutes tonight, but they eventually wore down Vegas and got what they needed to do last night in Washington was probably their best. One of their best offensive possession games that states they can were controlling the puck all night. So this is just building and building and building, you know, that it. My only fear is when Bdard and these are come back that they don't, they play like this with those two guys healthy. This could be pretty damn good hockey team down the stretch that is going that nobody's going to want to play. So I just hope they don't go back to that. Oh, let's give it to those guys. Yeah, we're just going to do. There's a little bit. I mean, I don't think it will look the same, you know, because Bdard and Nazar to a lesser extent, but those are two guys that kind of, they kind of play the wrong game.

8:54You know, they kind of they've got the speed, they've got the ability, they've got the vision to go to different areas to find those soft spots in the ice. It's not going to be straight north and south all the time. But if there's one thing we learned, I mean, Nazar will play that game. A lot of Nazar's goals come from right in front, right in a slot, whatever. We've learned that Bdard has gotten that message this year that if you're going to get results, not only do you have to be effective in all three zones, you have to be in the hard to score areas and not everything income from a perimeter, right. And he's been better about that this year. What I believe in is, yes, I think that's a concern and it's something that they've got to keep an eye on when when Bdard and Nazar come back. By the way, if you missed it, Blasphal said pregame expects Bdard back before the Olympic break would not go that far with Nazar, but also he's like, I just don't know. Yeah, first he's like, he's going to miss a few weeks and he's like, well, I don't know. That sounds like a lot because I was three and I think he just used the word. Yeah, so he doesn't want to commit, he doesn't want to commit to either one of them, right.

9:54Fine, I guess some people will say, oh, they're being that's bad. They don't want to tell you if these guys are going to be out eight, ten weeks to tell you that. Yeah, you would know. So we stop asking if he says I expect Bdard back before the break. I mean, he's been skating. He's shooting pucks again. Like, yeah, to me, that's saying, you know, that that mid-January prediction from Frank Sirval, it sounds pretty good. And that's 10 days away, 11 days away. So, yeah, anyway, sorry, I don't want to lose my thought because I'm old and it happens all the time. It will be a challenge when Bdard comes back to maintain that straight ahead game and the simplicity that you're doing. But I believe in the coaching staff and we talked about it last night too. The value of having Nick Felino back on the bench, back on the ice to kind of like, you know, you've got new puppies. When a puppy needs to be disciplined, sometimes you got to grab that scruff a little bit. It doesn't hurt, but it just sends that message of, oh, oh, wait, I got to, I got to get back to what I need to do.

10:54I think he's got that roll down. And I think. Nazar and Bdard are watching these games full of excitement. I'm sure. And they're going to want to come back and just add to it. Those guys don't feel the me is like, well, I need to get mine. I make you, hey, hey, like, this is all great what you're doing. But I got to get my highlight real goals. I got to get my Michigan goals. I got to get all that. No, I think these guys are chomping at the bit to get back and play for a team. That is playing their best team hockey of the season. I don't think there's any doubt about it. Before we continue, the Bertuzzi hat trick outstanding. Earlier in the game, there was a moment on the, I believe it was a sod goal, where Jack Eichel. Outmuscled. No, it was a stone goal where Jack Eichel basically bullies Jason Dickinson along the boards, kind of shoves him down with one arm, walks in. And sets up the goal on Mark Stone. If you were just watching the highlights of the Hawks game, go find your DVR recording in the game.

11:55Go back about 15, 20 seconds before the Hawks score. The Hawks are changing. Art of the left. I was coming on the ice. Alvermore gives him a pass back towards the Hawks net. It's a little off the mark. So left. Jack Eichel is right there. It was the same exact spot. Left. Shoff fights him off with a hand. Takes it behind the net. Again fights off Eichel. Eichel then left standing there. J.T. Miller, Alex Ovechkin, dead controller mode. Just watching left. Shoff goes the other way. He gets the pot to Mikaev. Mikaev gets the pot to Bertuzzi and the Hawks win. Mikaev or left. Shoff is making plays like that. Multiple times a game. And today with the game on the line. He went up against one of the baddest ass power forward centers in this game. And manhandled him as a 20 year old. It's the biggest moment of the game. So. Look, I know that there's always going to be this Demadov left. Shoff comparison.

12:55And there's going to be a portion of this fan base that will never acknowledge that Art of the left. Shoff is playing well. At this point. You're only denying it to make yourself feel right and feel better. He has been outstanding. I think you said last 10, 12 games that sounds about right to me where he has been. Oh, this is what they drafted it to. And if you're seeing glimpses of this at 20. Imagine what it's going to look like at 25 at 26. Like the sky is a limit for this kid. He is going to be a stud. I think he is kind of a stud already. And yeah, he had a turnover to today. Sort of macro is like sort of counter Murphy sort of Jason Dickinson. Guys are going to turn pucks over. Yeah, that happened. I feel like he is viewed in this with this microscope that a lot of guys aren't. And the place he is making on a game to game period to period shift to shift faces. Over the last two weeks or so. Have been undeniable.

13:55Undeniable. If you are denying option of his ability, you're only doing it again to save face. And by the way, welcome. Come on. If you were if you were anti-Levshinov, jump on the bandwagon. And Mario wanted to throw an nomination for Andre Berkowski, who had a solid game today. Again, two games in a row. I voted for him last night. He didn't win. But he had two assists was a plus to 1827. A shot four shot attempts and a hit for Andre Berkowski. He's been definitely playing better lately. All right. Hit that like button. 18:06Let the team in ice time 2339 of ice time had an assist was a plus one three shots. Seven more shot attempts a takeaway in a block shot. I think this might be the first. I'm sorry it was a giveaway to take away. So yes, he was credit with one giveaway. Just outstanding stuff from him. He was so good. Played 2050 at even strength. Also led the team. The only player on the roster. At over 20 minutes of five on five. Already been strength. Awesome game. Yeah, very well. I mean, he's he's playing. He's getting more ice time. You know, a lot of that though is power play. Had almost three minutes on the power play and got some overtime. Time, but you don't get that without Jeff Blackshell's trust, you know. We've talked about that before how it said that those those are things that are earned. You don't just given that and he's earning that. To me, it might be time to put him, you know, as on your number one pair at five on five.

19:13Put him with Alex Flasick. Because again, I don't know how many times you got to watch Alex Flasick and Louis Krabi get out muscled in front of that. Not that lesson off is going to help a ton in that department, but. Change it up. Yeah, I mean, both goal like both goals tonight. They were out there and, you know, it feels like they're getting pin deep a lot to like if I see a hawk having a bad shift. It's usually one of those two guys. Louis Krabi had the second lowest, of course, he on the team 40 to 86 12 shot attempts for 16 against the five on five. Alex Flasick was even 50, but that's fourth worst on the team 14 and 14 for him. Flasick, Donato, Krabi, and Mikaia were your bottom four. So now a lot of that is matchup based. So not saying they were complete buns, but I do feel like there were several moments where the hawks can't clear the zone. There's 72. There's 46. Yeah, or, you know, there's a scramble in front of the net. And guys are getting point blank chances. Those are the two guys out there.

20:14The thing that alarmed me about classic was the Dallas game where Wyatt Johnson just walked through him like he wasn't there. And it's the end of the game game, game defining moment, like lean on a guy. And I know you sometimes you don't have that personality. You got to find it. You've got to find it. And I'm confident he will at some point. Alex Flasick is still a young defenseman by most standards. But it's just I need to see a little bit of sorrow for those guys. And look, when your coach said last week, I'd like to see a little more Chris Cholio's in these guys. A little more, you know, little shot in a ribs or whatever it might be. That's a message, man. For a coach to say like to be asked, do you think your defensemen are soft and insane? Kind of. Yeah, I'm not going to say they are. I mean, but I'm not looking to. Jeff Blaschle is his kind of gone out of his way to soften any criticism for guys this year. Like, well, yeah, maybe, but there's this and this to consider.

21:14He's not a guy who's just going to flat out call a guy out. For to be asked of his defense number, soft and him to say, I'd like to see a little more toughness. That's pretty much calling them, you know, the P word. Pansies. Yes. Sure. Pick one. Pick one. So I want to see. Look, it's nitpicking. I don't believe that's true, but either of those guys, the P word for the record. But I just want to like be big. Yeah. It's just it's okay to use your body to your advantage. You know, it just seems like a lot of the times are like, well, I'm big. So I'm just going to stand still and you have to skate around me. Okay. And then they skate around. Sure. Yeah. Like, we'll take the long way to get there. It's fine. We're still going to get there. You know, I just, we've seen resets with other young defensemen. And this is Louis Cervier's first full season in the NHL playing every night.

22:15And you talked to him and he told you that he's getting used to the grind. Yeah. And especially after the Olympic break, there's going to be really condensed schedule. Did you see that? Yes. One of the light balls. Okay. So, you know, maybe it's, it's okay to give him a rest and try something or try something different. I don't know. Blasho loves Louis Cervier. And I know why you do see those things. But sometimes I just want to see one of those two guys. What a guy on their ass. Get pissed off. Clear a crease. You know, don't let anybody within 10 feet of your net by, you know, using your size to your advantage. It's still hopefully will come. You don't have to be Scott Stevens out there. You don't have to be destroying people. But when, when those situations present themselves. Yeah. Put somebody on their butt. It's a risk of repeating myself. And forgive me if we do a lot of shows. I think it was you, I was talking about this with last show. But like, big guys.

23:16They've been big their whole life. So when they're playing in college or junior, they can just show people to the ground. Pretty easily. Now that the, now that the gap has been narrowed between. You know, Louis Cervier and the average guy. He's up against in terms of strength and speed and physicality. You can't just be, being big, being big on its own is not enough to be physical. Like, yeah, bump into me and you're going to fall down. That's not the case anymore. Like a guy like Jack Eichel or a guy like Jamie Bennett is going to go right through you. They don't care. They don't care. They know, you know, they may not be as big as those guys, but they're just as strong. If not stronger, they know how to use their leverage. They know how to use their speed. They're smart. Yep. You know, you're not doing that against a, you know, second year. O H L player, who's just going to try and skate around you and you, you not come down. So there's still learning curve there. But I just, I want to see a little more in front of the net.

24:18It just seems that every time there's one of those shifts where it gets scrambling. And there's a lot of guys out in front of the net. It's 72 and 46 out there. Yeah. But they, I mean, they are the top pair at the moment. So they're going to get the tougher matchups. But yes, I think, you know, it's something we want to see. Why don't we hear from Tyler Bertuzzi? Before we hit the way we're going to do that. Did he do something tonight? Yeah, Patrick for Bertuzzi, this courtesy of Mario and his phone. We talked about second half of the back of X. And talk on you guys and just how nice to cut this one out and get this one tonight. Yeah, we really talked about this one. Just another back to back that obviously we haven't been good on it. There was a lot of long travel last night. But we came to the rink in the morning, had a meeting and kind of repaired a little bit different. And obviously it worked. How good have you been feeling about your game all year? I've been feeling good. Yeah, timing. I'm just sticking with the program to stand even keel and going out and working hard. Are you feeling good during the training?

25:18I'm, you know, a little worried. I'm getting used to the offside. The percentage is pretty good that it's usually outside. I'm guessing they just did it just because that was the last stroke. Yeah. You and Bertuzzi got a really good chemistry. Kind of didn't matter who's between the two of you. What about his game works so well with yours? Yeah, I mean, he discreet so much space for himself. And, you know, keeping fine holes in software. He's going to find you. He's a really good playmaker. He's found me so many times. Two home games ago. I kind of had like eight chances. And, you know, it's off his hand. And, you know, he's so shifty. And, you see the game so long. Yeah. There are a bit of hints on the league and goals now. It's a, I've meaning to assume something like company. I mean, yeah. It's obviously, obviously cool. But I'm just going to stay even keel because, you know, the past and actually almost every year. You know, I go through a 15 game skater and game skater. So I'm just staying even keel. I'm just sick of the program. Yeah. Four and six. And we've gone to overtime.

26:18What would have you put some pressure on you guys behind the stretch here and keeping games just, you know, only two shots in the gold years. A lot in the third game. Yeah. You know, our third was really good tonight, too. Obviously going down one in the third and being able to tie it. You know, earlier in the year, we weren't winning these overtime. And shootouts. And that's kind of been the difference lately. You know, that extra point, you know, if they had a. Pass from a care fund winner. You hoping that comes to you a little faster. I got to go watch. I mean, I blocked out itself. Yeah, he on the two on one. Obviously, he looked for me at the post. And, you know, I know he was another criminal. The second night of back, back, back. It's been a challenge for this team this season. Did you guys do differently to have the effort tonight? Probably just more mindset, just, you know, digging in. And, you know, everyone in the good day off tomorrow, give it their all and not save it. Just mentally, very different. A good question by Mario there at the end. They had been o and four.

27:19As you mentioned earlier in the show, coming off fact to back. So to get a win against the team, this good. In the way they did it, very impressive. And again, we talked about this game was a little bit low event in boring. When the smoke cleared, Hawks had a 4835 shot attempt advantage. Looking at family 29, 26 scoring chances were 15, 13 for Vegas. I'm sorry, that shots at five on five scoring chances for was 23, 20 for the Hawks high danger, 11, 9 for Vegas. So the Hawks had the edge in pretty much every category. And deserved to win this game. They were the better team. The start of the game was bad. I think your shots were four or nothing or six won at some point. Yeah. Just real sloppy. And the Hawks didn't get a shot on goal almost seven minutes in the game. Yeah. And just couldn't get anything going. But it wasn't like the nights were playing keep away with the meter. They really weren't getting a whole lot going either. There was a lot of neutral zone play for the first half of this game.

28:21But, and the thing was in the first two periods. I said it early in the third period. The team, the scene that every time the black Hawks got some off, some sustained offensive zone time. It was the fourth line. Yeah. You know, it was Flin O'Doc. And what the hell else is on that line? I forgot already. Flin O'Doc and Slagger. Yeah. Slagger. Sorry. Sorry, Lynn. Your eyes are not deceiving you, by the way. Fourteen shot at times four, six against. That is 70% of course he is aligned at five on five. Shots for three to four. Scoring chances for six four for them. Right. But my thing was I was getting frustrated because it was like... Someone else do it. Because it was like... Yeah. The line having the most success in the offensive zone is the line least likely to actually score. Yes. At least in the game. But, like, but that stuff gets it. You need a line to set the example. You need a line when things aren't going right to go out there and say,

29:21all right, we're just going to forecheck the hell out of these guys and keep the puck in the zone, follow our lead. And that seemed to kind of work. They just kept coming and just doing what they were doing with the belief that eventually it's going to work. And it did. This was one of those games that, you know, you're not going to remember at the end of the season hell. You're not going to remember it by tomorrow morning probably. But it's an important game because this was the type of game that Jeff Blackshell has been begging them to play and win since day one. When you don't have your A game, you need to find a way to still be in the game. And that hasn't been the case for much of the season. You know, he loves mentioning Hendrick Zetterberg in his... Pressers saying that, you know, Zetterberg wants to hold them. You don't have to win every one of your shifts, but you at least have to tie. And the hawks had a lot of tied shifts. And you'll take it. And they found a way to win.

30:23This team just sends the holiday break. Whatever that rejuvenation, you know, that Dallas win out of the break. I think gave him a lot of confidence. And, but then, you know, you think that Pittsburgh game, you're like, oh, boy. Yeah. That was fun. But they have recovered from that. And, you know, they've had, you know, what is it? Five out of six points since then. Six out of seven, whatever it is. What's that? It's a six out of seven. There you go. They've just been so impressive with the work ethic and the buying it. And here's another point. There's four, one and one since the holiday break. We had one practice. That's it. Cancel all practices from here on out. I mean, Blash, I've made that whole big speech about got to have practices. We're going to practice after even though we played back to back.

I'm just recovering from the news to me that there are three games all going to be going on at seven o'clock next Saturday. Yes. That's correct. Our office is going to be a cluster. Okay. Wonderful. This will be doing post game show from the roof. Bring a jackpot. Yeah. Yeah. And our brothers at the Bears lose 12 inch black and white screen TV. So we can watch the game. Boy, that'll be fun. Almost as fun as the Black Hawks four game point street going on right now. Yeah, it's things are things feel good with this with this team and getting victories. Especially your first in your fifth second game of a back to back. It's good. I mean, the way that the guys played tonight was very clearly their best effort this season in a game that was the second of of back to backs.

38:33And you get the result. And Tyler Bertuzzi, you know, he's been a different version of himself this entire season. But especially since kind of dark and Frank Nazar have been out. It's been more in the spotlight. Just how he's been playing and how different he's been playing. So to see him be the guy that, you know, put the team on his back and carry them to a win in Patrick fashion. I mean, I don't think anybody would have expected that to be the outcome tonight, especially against a really tough Vegas team. But, you know, credit to these guys for not just saying, you know, but darts out. Nazar's out. We're just going to, you know, keel over and crawl in the fetal position and just wait for the season to be over. Like they're continuing to push and, you know, across the lineup, like different guys are able to kind of step up. And I think their effort in the third period tonight was, you know, really commendable holding down Vegas to just two shots on goal.

39:36You know, you get the game tying goal and earn your way to overtime. Truly earn your way to overtime. And then you find the winner. Yeah, it was, it was really impressive. And we talked about this last night, Mario, where, you know, and a little bit earlier. And today, like when Ryan Leonard scores last night, we are sort of like, oh boy, here it comes. Here comes the three, four, three, one, four, one, five, one. And it just, because we've seen it so many times over the past few years. And it's just not been the case lately. And seven to two shots on goal in the third. And even that aside, like digging through the numbers, the Hawks were the better team tonight. And take another, like I know Bertuzzi gets the headlines and he should, by all means, he should. He had a great game and did put them on their back, but they held the Vegas Golden Knights to 15 shots. When they played in the Hawks played in DC last night. They flew, landed, slept, gobbened, played a game, and held the Vegas Golden Knights to 15 shots. That is remarkable. That's a solid defensive effort.

40:37I mean, that's, it's kind of like when you say like, oh, what team plays a road, a road game style of game or whatever. Like they kind of fell into that mentality in, you know, the second night of back-to-backs trying to keep things simple. And I think they were able to, on the defensive side of things, like really, as a collective, shut down some of the top guys that Vegas has. I mean, you're talking about Mark Stone and Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner and, you know, Pavel Doraphayev is a, you know, a goal-scoring machine for them. So, I mean, it's, it's, it's a tough team. And for, for you to, you know, play the way that they did in front of Arvid Satterbloom, who, you know, holds them to, to goals himself. He made some big, some big saves in the game too. Like just a really good collective team defensive effort, getting in front of shots and just, you know, shutting down plays before Vegas was able to really get them, get them developed.

41:39Shout-out to our buddy, Noel Royd, who points out this tweet from Ben Pope. The Black Hawk's allowed only 15 shots on goal tonight tied for the fewest against them in any game since 2013. If I recall correctly, that 2013 team pretty good? I think they did okay. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, like in a historically great start and then they want to Stanley Cup. It was a short and seasons. Is that even count? I don't think that even counts. Yeah, I mean, it was just, it was just great. I, one thing we talked about too. And I, I know you've got some Jeff Fletcher stuff you want to get to. I hope that the effort from Levchenov in overtime to fight off Jack Eichel, who had previously in the game. Walter Payton stiff-armed Jason Dickens into the ice. Levchenov fought off Eichel with one hand. Absorbed a hit, shook him off again and left him in a dust to start the overtime sequence. The overtime winner sequence.

42:39Kids been playing great. I hope that went noticed. Definitely. We talked about it last night about our, our, our emotion of development and how he's, you know, game over game kind of changing and learning how to play and talk about, you know, the way he skates and, you know, he's maybe it's not. Doesn't look like a ton of effort, but he's a powerful guy. And like there's a, there's another example of how as he, you know, physically matures, like he's going to be able to start to physically dominate some, some matchups in the league. And as he gets more confidence to play that style, like you're going to see him be a little bit more aggressive using his body and learning to use it the right way. So I think, you know, efforts like that plays like that. Like that can only, you know, stick in his mind and, you know, be a game film to be like, you know, have Jeff Blaschel and, you know, the coaching staff be able to point to him, point to him in film sessions and be like, this was, you played this perfectly.

43:40Like that's how you position yourself. That's how you, you know, that's just an effort play that can make a difference. I think for any, for any of those guys, but especially like young players, that's just going to build confidence and hopefully continue to establish like those habits of like don't, you know, you don't give up on a play. You know, this is how you leverage yourself for position, like just those teachable moments. Well, I know I see here that Jeff Blaschel mentioned their commitment to the process, and that's how they're getting these results. So I'll let you lead into that one. Yeah, he talked about, you know, how they, in second nights of back to backs haven't really had great, great results. And so he talked a little bit about what was, what was different tonight. Yeah, it's big, you know, I think, you know, I thought, I told you this before, like I thought a process in the very last one was better than the score would indicate. You know, not perfect, but better than the score maybe would indicate. I thought tonight, yeah, I didn't love our start the first, but I thought fundamentally we defended a little bit better.

44:45And so you kind of keep yourself in the game and kind of allow us to get our legs. And I thought it was the game along week or legs. We got better, better, better. I thought obviously every third was our best. So, you know, it's good for good for guys. They, they, you know, we thought we had more in us even going in the third and that kind of played out to be true. And we pushed hard and I thought we deserved the two points. It's good to see them getting, go ahead. Sorry, I bet I was going to say one thing that was interesting that that Blaschel kind of added to. Having their legs was the fact that, you know, in most of their back to back. Games and setups like they've just more or less just arrived at the arena for the game. And got ready and played. Last night, he said that they arrived back home early enough that they figured they would have a meeting before today's game to, you know, not, you know, it's not a morning skate. It's not a typical game day routine, but something close to that.

45:47And, you know, coming in and being like, OK, let's get engaged ready for the game earlier than we normally would in a situation for back to back. So I wonder if having the game last night and earlier your home earlier, you have a bit of a familiar feel to your game day routine for a unfamiliar schedule where it's, you know, it's a back to back. Get yourself ready earlier than you expected. So you feel like even just mentally like there's something there that can say like this feels more like I'm ready for a normal game. So you physically feel like you have more energy because you're more amped up. And that carried into the third period, whereas we've said like they found the game tying goal held in the two shots. And then you go to the overtime. And if you feel like in the third, you have more legs than you, than you thought or you expected you would. That carries over to the overtime too. Yeah, at no point did they look like a team that played last night, except for maybe what the first five minutes or so, where it was just kind of.

46:54I wouldn't even say that if it was bad was sort of sloppy like pucks were kind of bouncing everywhere and they couldn't really. They're over skating and under skating and just things are a little bit off the mark, but then after that tough little start where it felt like oh boy, this is going to be one of these. Back to back nights looked like early. After that little sin however long you want to put the time stamp on it, they took it, they took control. They were the better team. Yeah, and then, you know, the big man of the game is Tyler Bertuzzi gets the hat trick. He gets up to his 22nd goal of the season in what is his 39th game played. He had 23 goals all of last year playing all 82 games of Hawks. So in half as many games, he's basically, he's almost matched his goal total from last season. So, I don't know what it is about him playing with, you know, Jeff Blaschall, but something between those two gets the best out of Tyler Bertuzzi.

48:01So, you know, it was, it was evident tonight and Blaschall had some good things to say about Bertuzzi and his level of engagement game to game this season. So here's what he had to say. I think that's a pretty normal thing for him from the times I've coached him. He's always been a guy who kind of draws you into the fight a little bit just because of how, you know, just the passion with which he plays. And you can see that passion and there's not a fake bone in Tyler's body. So, you see that passion is on display and, you know, I think our guys feed off that. He's done an excellent job. He's played with that passion, but you have played in control. He's managed to make a play living another day. You know, he's let us be, you know, hard around the net. He's done an excellent job and he deserves a start. He's had. You know, but I also, you know, when he knows this, we have a lot of games left and he'll continue. Yeah, they both deny that there's something special about the Blasch over to G Bertuzzi connection.

49:16But it's you can't I mean, at this point, there's no way there's something to it. I mean, he's Bertuzzi is a different player this year than he was last year. And the consistency is a big part of that. Blasch will talk about that before the game, too, is just how, you know, consistently the effort you're getting from Bertuzzi is impactful. And last year, what was it? The 20 games stretch that he went without a goal after having like a like he had like 10 goals and like 16 games or something like that. The streaking is last year was was way too hot and cold. And you didn't know which Bertuzzi you were going to get, you know, from from night to night or from stretch to stretch. And then the season like it he got off to a hot start. And then he's just kind of continued that throughout, you know, the season. And he's been a big impact player since the garden and days are has gone down. You know, you needed guys to step up and he's definitely been one to to do that. And I don't know, it just it just seems like even just being around, you know, the team of being around around the locker room when we are able to be in there when Tyler Bertuzzi is in there.

50:26You hear his teammates just, you know, talk about him this season. It just feels like there's a lot of love in that room for him. And and he's I mean, he's playing tremendously this season was his first goal tonight that goal in the first period of time at one was that the furthest goal from the net of his career. It's got to be one of the furthest ones. The least however. That was like 20 feet away. And that was the furthest one this season. No doubt. Yeah, he's what like 20 inches from the net and but that was a hell of a shot and a nice, nice little play. I think he surprised the hell out of the Vegas. Nice that he was going to shoot from that spot in the ice. It worked. He's been suckering guys in for seven seasons, the final score. Yeah, I mean, to see him kind of, you know, be patient and actually, you know, drag and shoot. Rather than just, you know, getting to the net front and being there for a rebound or a redirection like it's.

51:31That was that was an impressive shot. I was not. Not expecting to see that too often this year, but when he is able to do it, he can be pretty effective. And even the, you know, the game winner was, you know, it wasn't just a. Typical Tyler Bertuzzi goal. Like he had to kind of make a play on it. So, yeah, it's just really impressive from him. The stretch of the season. Two hat tricks in one year for Tyler Bertuzzi. That's, that's not something I would have predicted at the end of the season. At the beginning of the season that Tyler Bertuzzi would have just as many hat tricks as counter-bredard in the first week of January. So he's got five career hat tricks. Two of them have come since the beginning of November. It's impressive. I'm looking at his money puck has like a heat map for goals. I think I counted 13 goals in his career that have come farther than. Today's, but it is like just so you scored basically at the left dot.

52:34There's a few that are like a little bit behind the dot. And he had one year we had a couple for the point, which is interesting. Maybe those were power play goals. Maybe that was, yeah, I don't know, but, uh, we're an empty, we're an empty netter. Yeah, yeah, it probably might have been. I wonder actually. All right, before we let you go, we should talk a little bit about the world juniors. If you missed it. Uh, Sweden knocks out Finland in the shoot out Anton Frontel is the hero. As of right now, Czechia leads Canada. Three to two is the third started yet. Shoot doesn't look like it has no. Okay, so it's second intermission. Czechia and Vakov Nesterseel up on team Canada. If they win, you'll have a Frontel versus Nesterseel Gold Metal game. I'm here for it. That'll be fun. I don't care if Canada makes a home. I want to see that. I want to see two future Black Hawk studs battle it out for the gold medal. Yeah. Yeah, that'd be, that'd be a ton of fun to, uh, to see them, uh, go, go head to head. Um, yeah, I mean, it's been, it's been really impressive to see Anton Frontel.

53:35Um, be in this tournament and play the way that he has the goal scoring and the, you know, just the top line role. I think he's going to be able to show the show and the physical maturity, the hockey sense maturity that he's shown the shot, of course. Like it, it all shows you why the Black Hawks. Um, you know, went with him at, at third overall and, you know, why they believed that his game would fit well in the future top six, maybe even top line with the Black Hawks and talk about like, you know, kind of a dart and running mates and, you know, who's going to be there to do. Who's going to be there to, uh, to help them out? Frontel really started, is starting to feel like the way he's played this season, the way he's, you know, showing off in the world, juniors. It just seems like it's solidifying the case that he's going to be that guy that potentially for the long term is going to be right next to counterpart on the top line of the Hawks for, for a long time.

54:35And I think, you know, we, we kind of have that sense already knowing his game and seeing how he's been playing. This season playing professionally against men and, and how he's stacked up in Sweden, but, you know, to, to have him be able to put in a top three performers on team Sweden performance. I got to imagine when the tournaments all said and done, he's in the conversation for MVP. It's, it's been really impressive to see him have this style of tournament, especially because the last time he played for Sweden in his draft year. I was at the U 18s. The knock against him was, oh, he was really quiet in that tournament. He hasn't been quiet in this term at all. No, he's definitely one of the top players. And, you know, the, the one who would probably take the spotlight away from him is Iverse Tenberg, who could go first overall now all of a sudden in this draft based on how he's performed as a world juniors and get him. I kind of hasn't exactly been counterbred from his world junior performance by any means. So I think this draft is still very much up in the air about who's going to go first.

When these kids hit their prime all together, you really could have something really fun going on here for a long. It is really fun to imagine. Okay, front L is kicking ass and cancer off his kick and ass and. Oh, yeah, American accurately do a challenge goals. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Um, you know, that club Nostracil is taking a huge jump at UMass and has been a huge factor for Czechia. Oh, yeah. And I'm guy ends getting better. Oh, yeah, Drew Kimeso is still around. Oh, yeah. Don't master one now and in Korkinski is are still are going to play in the NHL. And it's like who knows what Mason West is going to be right and whoever they draft this year.

58:49You know, it's, it's a lot of stuff to be excited about. And this has been a fun year because before the injury to bedard, we were seeing him take that monster step. We were all hoping for where you're like, okay, this is the kid we thought he was going to be. Um, Frank Nays, our starter this season off hot, struggled, got injured, got injured again. So he's been, I don't, I'm not calling him a disappointment, but he's just been kind of like you, you are. His excitement, the excitement level for him was so high that I don't think he would have met those expectations. But you want to see him come back from this injury after the Olympic break and have finished out the season strong. But what we've seen from Levish and off is getting you excited what the way why a Kaiser has played all season. Yep. He's just steady as they get. Um, you know, and you still have, you know, Sam Ranzell working his way back. He's a ball of air. Sassero ball of air is had two goals the other night. It was an exhibition game as they get back from from the Christmas break.

59:50But I think the combination of him being healthy for the first time this season and having a chip on a shoulder for not being taken by team Canada is going to equal a massive second half of his season. And get him in the right direction. So there's so much to be Nathan Beams, a guy that nobody's talking about. He's a third in the WHO and scoring a third round pick. That's got 22 goals and 55 points. Like there's a lot to be excited about. Not all these guys are going to be superstars. No, these guys are going to play for the Black Hawks. But when you have that many scratch offs in your arsenal, you're going to eventually you're going to win. You're at least going to get a free ticket. You're going to get your money back. At least you're going to get the five or six of those $2 ones and that adds up. By the way, we've not mentioned Ryan Green who is holding down the top line center job right now. And was one of the highest rated players of the Hawks this game. And finish a plate. If you could put the plug in the back of the net, that'd be great. Listen, the chances keep coming on a night. On a nightly basis of the chances weren't coming.

And if he wasn't getting those chances, then you'd be like, what are we doing here? But he's a young kid still trying to figure out how to beat NHL gold tenders. Even the worst NHL gold tender is better than any gold tender he's faced in his career coming up in the USHL or college.

1:01:58For a guy who would not have made the team if not for an injury, he is now handling the top line duties. He's got 15 points in 42 games, could have many more. So just another bright spot. There's just, he's fit in well. There's people talking about like, do they add somebody? It's like, let's wait and see what we got first. You might not have to. I know it's crazy, but like. I mean, you're going to, this team's playing well and you're eventually going to add carnival to Heart and St. Mesa. Those are two better than any two guys you're going to get on the trade deadline. Right. Yeah. So see what happens. Long way to go before we get to the trade deadline. You know, and it would be fun if they do add something. I'm kind of sick and tired of the days of this guy's playing good. We have to trade him. No. This guy's playing good. Let's trade him. I'm tired of those days. I'm tired of that. I want to at least say, hey, you're the group we brought in here. You guys are fighting hard. Are you going to leave in you or just bring in somebody, you know, not not a stud where you're given up a ton of assets, but just that that even bringing in a depth player, but a veteran who's one could be a sign of this team.

1:03:12Like, okay, management. Yeah. Is buying into it even right now. We like, who are we taking out? When Bedard and Nazar come back. You're not taking a largest out. You're not taking more out. There's not like this. There's not a spot for anybody. I mean, hopefully Landon slagger. Still has the keys. It was kind of. You could send slagger down. Maybe you send Colton doc down, but Doc has done exactly what you've asked him to do. Yeah. I mean, it's. It's at this point. I'm just kind of riding an out. It's not a bad problem. I have. It is not. You'll figure it out. Can you play 13 forwards five defenseman? I said that site. Mario left to me. I said 13 and five. Let's go. 14 and four. Let's do it.
