Today's guest is Jayne Allen. author of the hit new book Black Girls Must Die Exhausted (HarperCollins), which was recently named Target's book club pick of the month in October and was also featured on Good Morning America.

Jayne Allen is a Harvard Law grad, popular speaker, thought leader, experienced business executive, and noted author who writes fiction under her chosen nom de plume, Jayne Allen.

Notably, Ms. Sealey initially created Black Girls Must Die Exhausted as a self-published trilogy. Her independent release gained so much reader traction that it resulted in a highly unusual four-book deal with traditional publishing imprint Harper Perennial, a division of HarperCollins.

Jayne's own life and the lives of so many successful black women. In the book, an infertility diagnosis kicks off the story. Addressing the topic of infertility—according to the CDC, approximately six percent of married women between the ages of 15 to 44 years in the U.S. cannot get pregnant after a year of trying. In addition, nearly 12% of women between 15 to 44 years old struggle with getting pregnant or carrying a pregnancy to full term. Jayne shares, "this is something that needs to be talked about both to provide information and to normalize the topic so that those affected can find support and understand they're not alone."
