A small aircraft crashed at Grove Field on Tuesday, September 8th at approximately 1.15 pm. The pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft and was not injured. Grove Field is currently open. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have completed their investigation of the incident and have cleared the airport. East County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to the incident about 15 minutes after the crash. The by plane crashed next door to East County Fire and Rescue Station 91 shortly after takeoff. The pilot reported seeing smoke in the cabin and return to the airfield where the aircraft flipped during landing.
