King's Way Students Honor 9/11 With Flags and Prayer

0:00This story was written by Paul Valencia with Clark County Today.com. There was a special chapel service for middle school students at Kingsway Christian schools on Friday. Ryan Watkins, the middle school pastor, interviewed an Arnie veteran. They talked about the importance of remembrance, especially on September 11. Middle school students today were not around on September 11, 2001. They do, however, recall the chaos surrounding the pandemic. Everything we thought was normal was not normal anymore. Watkins said, noting that while the two events are completely different, the unknown was similar. It was a good moment for the students to hear some adults talk about it. When chapel was dismissed, the students headed outside and were handed American flags. They would go on to plant those flags on a hillside near the school's track. This is how we are going to honor the people, the heroes who went in that day, not knowing what was going to happen. Watkins said, We let the students say a little prayer with their flag, planted in the ground, and remember that day.
