And that's what we're going to get into specifically today is we're going to look at the heat's regular season moments over the years. Now it's this eliminates a lot of things. Okay, because this franchise has gives you more moments in one year, typically than the dolphins have given you in the past 30. The only thing I can remember for the dolphins is the Miami Miracle. That's it. I wasn't even there at that game. I was supposed to be

5:25and it ended up meeting nothing. Although it was fun because they beat the Patriots. But later there have been no dolphin moments like for 30 years. There's nothing you can remember from a regular season. The Wildcat. Right. I was there. But that wasn't even a home. I was there. I was in New England because I was covered in dolphins at that time. And yes, we were in New England. That was they were one and three on the season. Tony Sprano unleashed that on the Patriots. There was a win they had in I was also with this one. I'm not such bad luck for them. They're just bad. I was at the metal ends of 2016 when Pennington beat Farve to clinch the division. There have been a few, but not very many. Panthers, of course, are much more recent. The Marlins is all confined to two years. The Canes had about a 20 year drought. But now that's back. But the heat, they're all the time. All the time. This is why this franchise has captivated people and why we have an audience here because they have moments. You just never know. I did not want to go to that game last night. I will be honest, Greg. I saw who was out for the heat. And I texted my daughter because she was with me last night.

6:26I texted her crying emoji that I had to drive down to Miami and brace brace for an hour and a half of traffic and shut down I 95 for construction. Both ways. All to go watch. Bam and the bamettes because four of the heat's top six players or top seven players were not playing and Washington, of course, sucks. And it's trying to lose. And this is why you can't, you can't miss a heat game. Typically, and look, it was again, Charlotte on a Tuesday night that LeBron James scored 61 points. And I was stuck at Costco that night. And that was, and this is another Tuesday night, this one in March, where bam scores 83. So we're going to try to put this into some kind of perspective. We're eliminating LeBron's 45 and Boston in game six. We're eliminating some of Dwayne's heroics at home, obviously, the playoffs. We're eliminating Jimmy's 56. Excuse me against Milwaukee. We're eliminating Ray Allen shot. Okay. Bams block. Bams block. Okay. Anything that happened

7:28the post season. Excuse me. We're eliminating. We're also going to eliminate anything that happened on the road. All right. So there was some regular season moments on the road in Brooklyn. If you remember, Dwayne's last ever game was getting Haslam, you know, getting a triple double on a pass to you. The again, they just have these moments, right? Or the regular season game. I was at this one too in Cleveland, where the batteries were thrown at LeBron on December 2nd, 2010, many, many historic regular season road games for the heat 27 game winning streak kept alive by coming back from 27 down in Cleveland during the 2012, 2013 season. LeBron's your beater and golden state, they still showed that on NBA TV all the damn time. Beater and golden state where Dwayne wasn't playing, but in the old arena at Oracle, Dwayne could hear the screams through the walls as everybody was racing back there that was right before the all-star break. So many of these moments. LeBron and Dwayne

8:32loses post season, but LeBron and Dwayne closing out the bulls with the most amazing two-man game I've ever seen over two and a half minutes. They did it to the Pacers too. And in the Pacers after Dwayne got hurt and the two of them going ballistic the second half, I'm very fortunate that I was at a lot of these games on the road. The pass into you know LeBron, Dwayne to LeBron in Milwaukee, the dunk right in cameraman right next to me. Of course I'm not as good with the camera. So he got the all-time picture and I just happened to show it to Dwayne the next day and it all blew up. But all that aside, we're not taking any of those road games with him. We're just going to look at the best home regular season. It can be a game, a moment, a circumstance. There's a lot of stuff that we can get into here. So I'm giving you a couple minutes to think about it. Bams obviously is up there. LeBron 61 is up there. Dwayne's last home game ever with the heat is up there. Alonzo Morning's return. People forget

9:38about this. This was huge when he came back for the first time. Shaq Stabiew was a big one. We'll go through more of them as we go forward. I got a few that I can add just to kind of kick us off and I'll show my age and that's fine because can we just acknowledge how damn fun this was for heat fans. I said it on post game last night and I want to reiterate it now. Like there's a lot of these seasons where it may not be in the cards to win a championship. And you can pound your head up against the wall thinking that you're going to win a championship. And it's probably the way you have to think if you're ever going to score 83 in a game, frankly. So some people are just wired that way. But some years, you're just not going to win the championship. So to have moments like this, it means a ton. Like if you go way back, Glen Rice on a bad heat team scores 56 on a Sunday against Orlando. Orlando was heavily favored with Shaq and Penny. That was a real big moment

10:43for the heat early on. Then you're talking like other than playoffs, like your first playoff win and stuff like that. They had some all star weekend stuff that doesn't even meet the criteria. So scored 50 against the wizards in 96. He had like 50 and 12 was dunking on George Murerson all night. Was that home? Was Dwayne's dunk on Verge at home? It was. It was. His dunk on Germain O'Neill was also at home, right? It was. But that was in the playoffs. That was in the playoffs. That's right. That was in the Regular season. This was Kendrick Perkins Kendrick. Oh, yeah, we can't forget that. This one also, Dwayne's this is my house moment, which is now commemorated in the statue was regular season. That was during the best stretch of regular season basketball that Dwayne ever played during that season. I was the 2008 2009 season, right? And there was the they had in a week where they had it. It was like a Utah game that went double over time.

11:44There was a Chicago and then the Chicago game, of course, was this is my house. So that certainly qualifies. I mean, there are games that players have had that for other franchise, it'd be a bigger deal, but for the heat aren't just because of the number of these that they had. Deon Waiters is game winner against Golden State. Dwayne's game winner after he came back. I guess that meant against the 72 and 10 bulls. That is top five. Absolutely. That is top five that that and I where we go through these, there's no way I'm not putting that one on the list because that if if people outside of Miami still remember it years later and that game is remembered, it's kind of the it's sort of the old time. So the all time we have enough game that I think a lot of coaches that's around and still associated the phrase to that game because it's so before that time. But none of the players showed up that night. Pat had made that five for five trade with three different teams. He got him hard way, but hard way

12:45wasn't there yet. I think Tony Smith, you're right. One of the five players that are up on the street or something. Yeah, they just threw him in there. They had eight guys and Rex Squirtle was at 37, I believe, and they beat the 72 win bulls at home. That is I'm telling that's on my list. No question about that. But on the other side, we'll get to some more of these, but there are a lot. So we're going to get to it is Vams, the greatest regular season moment that we've ever seen in that building. I don't know if we want to go back to Miami. Well, I guess the Rechampion was mine. It was. So we got we got to count it. It's down. What is there at Miami arena now? Is it one of those restaurants or is that they never build the housing they were supposed to build? Yeah, probably not. 17:57Okay, so we've got a few here and they're kind of separated between the things that happen on the court and then Sarah Moore's ceremonial stuff. So of the ceremonial ones was Dwayne coming back the biggest. So coming back was a big thing at the time. And I remember him tearing up. But I feel like whether it was at Dwayne's last game was at Dwayne's first game back. They both were big and they both had the type of feel good that you can only really otherwise get from the most epic of playoff victories, frankly. Like that's at that level. So they're all in that just great vibes category. They weren't huge games when you talk about winning and losing and ultimately trying to compete and all that stuff. But they're on the short list. If I had to go with one of them though, I would say that probably the storybook ending feels like probably the one for Dwayne.

19:05Well, because it was a combination of things, right? It was the finality of knowing you were not going to see him play on this court again, but then he played really well. And because he had the added ability to capture moments. He always talked about moments, moments, moments. LeBron's first game playing for the heat obviously was a circus show. And no one will ever forget that. But I kind of feel, and this is why the BAM thing is going to go straight to the top of the list for me. And the Rex Chapman thing, by the way, is up there too. I just think it's more interesting what it's unexpected. It's one thing when everybody is buying the tickets and the tickets are jacked up on the secondary market, right? And it's, well, this guy's coming back, or this is a, it's another thing when it's literally a Tuesday game in March against a team that is tanking that nobody really wanted to go to. I mean, those are probably tickets that a lot of people bought. They were just, okay, here, I'm not using these. Like you grabbed them like at the office, like you're going to watch the wizards who's playing for

20:06the wizards. Trays not even playing. Most of the people at the office is part of the court, but I don't even know. Tray was on the wizards to begin with. And it's like on a Tuesday night, I want to fight that traffic to be there at 730. And I'll tell you what, they were not all there on time, but they were all there at the finish. Nobody left that place. And they stayed, yeah. And they stayed. And I, and they didn't want to leave their seats. And it was a communal thing. I mean, I know LeBron coming back for the first time after leaving Miami was some of these Christmas day games in Miami were, yeah, we're big, especially the ones against LeBron. Because every time Kobe had a really epic performance on that home floor. Yeah, and that was unexpected. But again, it was also Dwayne and Kobe, like you knew before the game, you were getting something. We had no idea we were getting anything like this. No, and that, that's where I think Rex Chapman and what he did, like this is the other context to put it in. And I, it really dawned on me when not only was it leading every show on the four letter network that is leading sports

21:11coverage just by virtue of their market share or whatever we want to say. But also every, like, independent media company was doing it. It was an important America, Greg. This thing you're beating me to my punch here. Like you're seeing it on every today show. It's everywhere. So to me, like that's when you realize, oh crap, this transcended just the sports and the Miami heat. Like when he had that dunk, Ethan, and he broke the franchise record, I was gonna already rank this as one of the greatest games in in heat history from a vibes perspective to get that for BAM to do it who they're so critical about his offense at times. But for him to get this is big. It's the second highest scoring game ever. It's a number that you just never thought you could get to. So for me, it immediately, like you said, the Duane moments were amazing. The big three moments. It was like

22:12a rock concert everywhere they went. Or for me, it'll be more like a hip-hop show. But I don't know, these things that come out of nowhere. And then when you're talking about the 72 and 10 bulls, that's a team you never forget. It's like a, it's just a record breaking team. BAM, this is a record breaking statistic. Yeah. And look, I think the LeBron 61 point game was a cleaner game. There's no question about it. Like, I mean, LeBron was ridiculously efficient in that game. BAM was headed that way early in the game. And that, that's surely a team that LeBron beat that year was no better than this Washington team, maybe slightly. BAM was headed that way and then he tapered, right? Like even before they started with the fouls, like he got tired. And then it was, he had some airballs in there and all the rest of that. LeBron was just like epic force, like efficiency, like that was, it's like, okay, here we're giving you four years of peak LeBron and now we're going to give you the peak night of all of this. And that 61 was outrageous, all right? But again,

23:15it's LeBron. Like, like he was going to have a night like that at some point. This is a guy who came into the game and he wasn't averaging 20 points a game. He was when he came out of it, exactly 20.0. But he came into the game, not averaging 20. Greg, we did episodes and I know you push back on me on some of this stuff, but we did episodes in mid-December all the way through the mid-January. What the hell is wrong with BAM this time? In fact, he did not have a 20 point game or 22 point. I think he scored 21s. He did not have more than a 20 point game over a 16 game span during that stretch. He had 22 last night as we're recording this in the first five minutes. Like, you were not expecting this. You were not expecting this even though he didn't have the top two scorers on the team. They're all stars for the past two years in Powell and Hero. Didn't have Wiggins, who obviously is a guy that provides scoring and didn't have where his backup, which meant that he was going to have to play more minutes. But I was saying to eternal on the podcast prior to the game. I'm like, why are we honestly having these conversations

24:18about what BAM's doing now? Why didn't he do it a month earlier in the season? Why is there always a month where you're not getting aggressive play? And you have a guy who are biggest criticism of him has been it's in there. He's not aggressive enough. Yeah, just going take it and then he does that. He was possessed by Deodd Waders last night. That is what really jumps out to me and beyond that, and I'll let you close it here. Beyond that, we talk about it being unexpected. The people who wanted that building last night are the only people who have ever sat in a building and watched a player score 83 points. Because they're left for the wild game, right? I mean, was anybody even at the wild game? They can't even verify. I said on the show last night and I was really joking that if there's no video, there's no proof. So for me, this is the footage of the human being that's scoring the most points in a basketball game that exists. So that's that's a huge accomplishment. To me,

25:21it's just for BAM to do that when we've been so critical of the offensive stuff. It shows you how out of left field and how perfect of a mix of he started the game and everyone's going to focus on what happened late when he was kind of chucking stuff up and he was gunning for the record. But he started the game in an absolute zone, hitting all kinds of threes, but also getting legitimately fouled. You have to have the unbelievable balance of free throw attempts and three point shots made for BAM specifically to ever get there. And it just all came together. And for me, it's probably number one. Yeah, I think it has to be number one. And part of it also is that he got there by doing things that he couldn't do when he came in the NBA. So it really started with him getting an algorithm of three. He had five threes in the first quarter. And so once he started to get the rim of a free, like, I don't want to get into all this. I did this with Brady. And we're

26:24going to do it again with Mercy. But the whining about that fourth quarter, when Washington, well, why don't you just guard him? Just guard him. Like they had to send four people at him all the time. And it was, it was their coach, okay, whose name I didn't know before last night. That's on me. But their coach, who was like, he was basically trying to intentionally foul other players to not put BAM at the line. Like, my whole thing is, like, if you don't want that to happen, don't tank and don't suck. Like, that's really all this is. And this idea that the heat or spell made a mockery of the game. No, the Washington Wizards have been making a mockery of the game. All season. Yeah. Right. They're tanking. That's that's a mockery of the game. I mean, and so I don't think it diminishes what BAM accomplished. They pull him up the floor. Do you know how many players take note of that? Like, Riles in the hallway. And we're not going to veer too far in this direction. I promise. But Riles in the hallway, when he saw BAM, I saw the video on the socials said, I'd have pulled you out when you had 70 or something like that to say that. And people legitimately

27:29said, Oh, was he being serious? I think it was the one. Rick Conlow was the one from I think he's NBA TV still who who said Riles couldn't wouldn't like that. Okay. And all the rest of that stuff. And I'm thinking Riles absolutely would have gone for the kill on. Absolutely. No question. I off the floor. If he wants to keep going for it, that's part of why you pay a guy. And you ask a guy to lead your franchise because that's really what they've done. And Nakai has Duncan wrote a piece for Yahoo Sports as we're wrapping up here where he highlighted all the ways that BAM's role has had to change this year. And when you really see it all stacked in sequential order, they've really made him have to adjust in so many ways. So this was just I think the moment where we can all celebrate him. And otherwise a guy who goes under the radar far too much in my opinion. Well, it was a thank you. I think he had it right. I think it's a thank you for all that he's done for the team, for the community, for holding things together or trying to

28:31when the Jimmy thing was blowing up yesterday. By the way, I think he's the only NBA player didn't congratulate BAM in any way on social media. That's not a surprise. You know, BAM has had to BAM has basically had to take the brunt of everything. And sometimes from us, sometimes from us because you know, I've been critical of some of the offensive stuff and the lack of regression and why there's always a month there. But you see there the relationship he has with Spowe. And someone put this totally correctly on Twitter. And we might have said this before, but if we didn't, we should have. I mean, Spowe is, I mean, BAM is Spowe's though. Like Pat had so that BAM is that's who spent BAM is to Spowe. He's the keeper of his culture. His culture, Spowe's culture is not the same as Pat's culture. You're right. His Pat's culture was much more strict, much more rigid. All the rest of this Spowe's is adjusted more for the modern player. BAM is more the modern player than Zo is. Zo wasn't out there shooting threes. He didn't have liberty to do that. I'm sure he would have loved to have done it. It's still demanding by today's

29:35standard. It's very demanding, but it's different. But not like, but not like it was for Pat and Zo. Okay. But Zo would mimic everything that Pat said, right? I don't mean mock mimic. Like he would say the same thing. Diversity introduces a man to himself and all the rest of that. BAM doesn't get there with Spowe. He'll make little jokes and all the rest of that. But there is an alignment about their core principles. And there's just a love and respect between the two of them. And I, Spowe never admit this publicly, but I bet that bams his favorite of everybody that he's coach going all the way back. I think if you had to give him truth serum, just in the way he talks about him, he has never. And it's, it's frustrating to me at times because he's made him look really good. BAM has made Spowe look great. He's made him look great, but also also in the revert in the other way. He's never, when everybody's coming after BAM in the slightest way, he has defended BAM to the hills. He'll insult your intelligence right in your face. Well, I tell you, he's like, you don't basically not, you don't know ballers. I wasn't learning the game. Learn the game, right?

30:35No, there's another light he has. It's not I can't even think of. Not the narrative stuff for all the rest of that. But he's, yeah, he'll make us, it's going to come back to me as soon as the podcast is over with. And I'm sure people on Discord are off the floor going to tell me what it was. Oh, you mean like what he says about the untrained eyes. Thank you. Thank you. We all have untrained eyes. I wasn't following what you were trying to grab out of the atmosphere. No, that's where it is. The untrained eye. Okay. That's, that's the only, but last time we didn't need any untrained eyes. This was just the guy being uber aggressive and basically saying, effort. And to those who had a problem with it, I say a different view. I'll let you finish. Anyway, we're going to do another episode. I think it's number one. I think I think it's number one. I wasn't there for the record. I watched the rest jamming game on television. Most of our audience probably wasn't alive when the rest jamming game happened. I was there, but I still enjoyed the BAM from my living room. And then on the post came show more. Well, BAM is going to be on a record book. Rex Chapman is not. That was just, that was just significant because of who he beat in the, in the time frame. And it was the ultimate

31:41underdog story. But in the end, it was just a huge upset. Their print is jersey number 83. Chapman didn't get his jersey printed after the bulls go. No, he, no, he didn't.
