Autograph Talk

0:00Good morning, everybody. Been in skin show on Lone Star 92 five. In the next hour, we'll give away ZZ top tickets and we got a couple of pair to give away in person on Friday at 11 o'clock. 1:16will. I would say they're like an alt indie band. I'm going to see them a week from tonight. Are you? We might end up playing them off their first couple albums in 20 years. Okay. How long have they been around? Because in my mind, I'm like maybe 10 years. Look at longer than that because they started. Wait, 10ish. Yeah, they started. I started. They started as a jam, like a psych jam band. Okay. And then they kind of morphed into more like bead or in a dance stuff. But I remember one of the Ben and I when we were, I guess he's with the ESPN days going in the Cowboys locker room. We befriended Cowboy punner, Matt McBrire. And he was a big tame and Paula fan. And he came to their concert at Grenada and he brought, you know, he didn't even ask for favors. And he brought his very pregnant wife. And we saw how pregnant she was. We're like, we got him in the bet little section off balcony section because we knew Mike over there. And it was just like, wow, this cowboy didn't even ask for favors.

2:16He just showed up at the tame and Paula show. And I've never seen them live. I'm assuming that their fan base is on the younger side like our age KT since you're going to see them. And that's going to come into play here in a second, just the age of their fan base. So Kevin Parker of tame and Paula just put up a post the other day. And he said, due to the rise of aggressive autographed hounds, I won't be signing anything or doing photos out the front of hotels or airports at all anymore. So if you happen to catch me, please don't be offended if I say no. I wasn't that passionate about it before, but they've started using kids, which I think is all kinds of wrong. He said on that note, just again, know that I'm going to turn you down if you're asking for an autograph. He said the numbers were getting out of control and we don't have the security to manage it. And the obvious security risk if you think about it, so my team has advised me to stop giving out autographs. And so my takeaway from this was first off, that does suck if someone wants to get a photograph

3:21with, I mean, Kevin Parker of tame and Paula, if you were to see him out in the wild, that's huge. If I were to see Jack White out in the wild, I would immediately want to photograph with him. But the autograph thing, I was like, I, once the last time you guys got an autograph, I mean, I think athletes, that's probably a go to, but a musician. I remember the last autograph I got. Yeah. I can remember how old I was and where it was. I was in seventh grade. My dad took me to the Southwest Conference Basketball Tournament in Houston, the year that it was in Houston. And I had the program and I got the autograph of every player I saw. And I had this thing. And then when it was over, I was like, whatever. And I never got another autograph again. Yeah. So the last one I remember getting was Norm Hitzkiss. I got, he signed a Maverick's Box score for me. That's cool. At a Mav game, which I think I still have. That's awesome. That's awesome. But I don't remember one after that. Thank you, little boy. Yeah, definitely. I could kid thing I thought.

4:21I guess it's not. I thought the phone's getting a photo with someone who almost ended autograph. Yeah, I thought about that too. I agree. Because like he's mentioned here, usually the only people I see getting autographs are the people who are going to put it up on eBay. Right. Very next day. The memorabilia stuff. Right. I want you to leave that picture I just sent you, Christine. Okay. I sent it to Ben and KT2. I don't know if you guys have sent this to you before. Do you see it? Okay. Describe what you're seeing there. It's a group of people just hanging out in a parking lot. One guy is sitting down with an acoustic guitar and a beer and a badass afro. And the other guys are just kind of chilling, looking real cool. That is Tayman Paula in October of 2013. Wow. And over to the far right is my nephew and his girlfriend. And we were going to the show and they're opening for the national. And they were just sitting out there playing. And I was like, Hey, are you guys okay? Have I got a picture with my nephew? And they're like, Yeah, go ahead because they're all Australian or whatever. Awesome. So yeah.

5:21So think about that. That was 13 years ago. They're just sitting outside playing and enjoying themselves. Now they're making announcements that you cannot approach me. Because they just got popular and people are aggressive and want to take advantage of stuff. Is that the band you all played basketball with? No, that was a Bonnie there. And actually, it's funny. Bonnie there is like basically one dude Justin, what's his burn and he ended up doing stuff with, you know, Taylor Swift and all this stuff. But his project was Bonnie there. The guys in his band were the biggest group of nerds I have ever seen that have never held a basketball. And they still wanted to play. They still want to be and the lead singer just was really good. So he just wanted to go school. He just wanted to go. Yeah. We played with them. I was like, wow, this guy's good. Those other guys can't catch a basketball. And they're all 411. But yeah, that was pretty funny. That's awesome. All right. Thank you, Christina. That was good. Yep. All right. Coming up next, we are going to touch base with one of our favorite characters.
