But either way, time to get back to the usual swing of things and starting off, as always, with the recap of the lock and dog picks. So we had a great episode. Ended up sweeping for the lock and dog. For the lock, we had replaced the Goot minus 1.5 games as he ended up winning in straight sets. Not easy to tie breaks, but he got the job done. A duck worth had a bit of a, I'd say, you played pretty decently, but a Goot was just better simply put. Now, a duck worth did break while Goot was serving for the match. Didn't matter, though, as a Goot kind of ran away with both tie breaks to see 1, 7, 6, 7, 6. So nice one there for the lock. For the dog, never doubt we had gorgeous and opelka first set over 12.5 games at plus 105. Classical pelka set went to a tie break. No break points at all. Never in doubt, very easy.

4:05So nice one there for the lock and dog picks. So those were a while ago. Those matches will jump forward into the random 16 recap. But once again, good episode. Nice lock and dog sweep, too straight as we swept the final in the previous event. So we'll hopefully keep her all in here for the quarter finals in Miami. Now, moving along to the actual recap of the random 16. So for starters, we had a couple of marathons early. Alondolucci continues his similar alarm as he ended up beating quarter, a quarter beat Alcarez, and then lost Alondolucci in the following match, which is just peak quarter, just hilarious. But either way, a nice win by Alondolucci there in three. Laheshka got the job done against Fritz as he ended up winning in three as well. And Fee's got the job done against Vacherot in three. Nice one for him. Now, for the other matches, not too much drama. A Tiafo did beat Atman in three sets. So nice marathon win for Tiafo, which has been kind of his M.O. for the event so far.

5:08Besides that, not too much drama. Apollo buried at Chevarian straight sets. Alondol dropped four games in the entire match. Sinner should have dropped the set to Michelson as he was down a break in the second. Michelson served for the set, choked it, and then Sinner got the job done there in the tie break as he won seven, five, seven, six. Michelson played well, but he just didn't get the job done what he needed to when he was serving it out in the second set. And if he gives Sinner a second chance, he's gonna bury you, and he did. Besides that, the Surundolo keeps rolling as he was able to beat Umbair in straight sets. And we saw Zverev beat House in a match with no breaks. Zverev did our face of break point. House was able to fight off all four break points and ended up seeing Zverev who had a couple of match points in the late stages of the second set. Simply put, did not convert. Actually it was six break points. So he was 0 for six on break point chances, but otherwise Zverev got the job done in straight sets anyway. So a couple of closed matches that did go marathon life in terms of three sets.

6:09Couple that were seven, five, seven, six, and seven, six, seven, six. But still, point is we have had a pretty interesting tournament because Alcoraz did end of losing. Feels like seeded players keep dropping like flies with the exception of Sinner, who of course is just coasting because he's Sinner. So either way, we'll see if Sinner wins the whole thing, but recapping the actual outright that we gave out before the event even started. So far not too great, but not terrible. For the first quarter, we had Alcoraz by himself minus 275. That lost, of course, as he lost the quarter. Second quarter, we do have a life. We lost Koboly immediately at 25 to one. We have fees though, at 650, who is into the quarter finals. In fact, he's favored against Tommy Paul in the quarter finals. So pretty decent, I'd say opportunity there. The cash are pretty big price for an outright of plus 650 for the quarters because he's favored in his match. But either way, fees is still alive right now. Third quarter didn't work out. We had Mepadev at plus 190. Almost found a way to come back and win against Serum Below, fell of a short as he lost 75 into the third set.

7:11And for the fourth quarter, Sinner by himself minus 400, which we feel very good about. He's a massive favor against Tiafo. So not really worth there. For the outright, same approach as always. Alcoraz did lose already at plus 150. However, we saw the inverse of this in Doha a couple weeks ago, where Sinner lost to Minsk. We didn't panic in Alcoraz won anyway. We still have Sinner at plus 140. Alcoraz losing early is a bit annoying, but am I worried? No, I think Sinner's probably still gonna win the whole thing because he keeps winning in straight sets every time. But either way, we still have an outright to win the event. We still have an outright to win the fourth quarter with Sinner, a massively juiced price there minus 400. But fees is definitely the story as we have them, but at plus 650 to win the second quarter. So hopefully that ends up working itself out. But nothing else for what we talk about once again, it's been a pretty interesting event so far with Alcoraz losing, with Mevive losing, couple of Sinner elements. I don't think anybody thought that Laundalucci

8:13would make it to the quarter finals, but that's what happens when somebody else beats Alcoraz and your quarter's pretty weak. But either way, once again, a couple of interesting matches, wanna mention the actual schedule though, for the quarter finals. All four matches are not on the same day. There are two matches that are taking place on Wednesday and two taking place on Thursday. To be honest, the matches that are taking place on Thursday look a lot better if I'm being fully honest, but Laundalucci takes on Laeshka, Paul takes on fees. That should be pretty fun as the late match down Thursday, Tiafu versus Sinner, and Serum below taking on Zverev. So either way, should be fun. We'll get into those matches in a few minutes. Before we get into, the actual breakdown of the quarter final matches, quickly checking if there's any news worth talking about. I don't really see much. I know that's Phi Tec Fire Coach, so that's kind of the main news there for the women's side. Makes sense. She had a pretty underwhelming season. I know that she ended up winning Wimbledon last year, but for the most part,

9:13not exactly the season that Phi Tec was hoping for. We'll see if she picks it back up for the French open, but she decided after losing a Miami immediately in the first match to Lynette. It was time to move on. So there you go. She moved on. I don't know if who's, I don't know who's gonna be your new coach, but she decided after losing to Lynette in the first round. It was time to make a change. So that's the main news on the women's side. For the men's side, really not much going on. I mentioned before that Alchora has lost a quarter, which was the shocker. A Wimbleton will be changing its review system. They will be using video review, so I believe that they are going to be once again. I'll actually just see how this is going to really impact anything. I don't know if everything's officially gonna be reviewed or it's only for double bounces, et cetera, but the point is Wimbleton is starting to add a bit more technology, which is always good. So I'm looking forward to seeing that. But either way, once again, a point is should be interesting seeing Wimbleton implement more technology.

10:15If only the French open could also do that, but at least Wimbleton is making some steps and they've been trapped in tradition for 100 and something years. So I'm hoping the French open follow suit soon, but either way, Wimbleton is adding to the video review capabilities for the tournament and the more the merrier for me, most important thing is getting the call right. Anyway, I just gonna wrap it up for the recap and the news time move on into the preview of the quarter finals in Miami. Welcome back everyone to the tennis game podcast, finished going through the recap, the run 16. Time to move on into the preview of the quarter finals. Moving on to the two matches taking place on Wednesday. First match, Juan Dolucci. Taking on LaHeshka. Yeah, we really saved the best for first, just kidding. This is definitely not the match that people care about.

14:24Should be interesting though, because LaHeshka and Juan Dolucci are firepower. Juan Dolucci is still a young Spaniard, who's had a bit of a rough go in the ATP so far, but this has been his coming out party. I will see if he can extend it into the semis. Now LaHeshka, big favorite, minus 275. Juan Dolucci is around plus 215. For the spread, minus 3.5 for LaHeshka is plus money at plus one of seven, plus three natural on Dolucci the other way, minus 136. The overrunner is at 22 and a half games. Now for the path so far, LaHeshka has looked very, very good. So far in his matches, ended up beating a relative unknown, a young Frenchman, who should end up being pretty solid in a Kwame, but either way did win in straight sets. Beat Quinn in straight sets, who's been pretty good this season, and beat Fritz in three sets. Nice win there. For LaHeshka, he has been very, very good. That ended up going through qualifying, carried it over into the main draw, ended up beating the likes of Girom, ended up beating Darderry. So far, not that amazing, but once again, Darderry has been improved

15:26on a hard court, and Girom can be quite tricky. Then he beat Koshanov, when it was been underwhelming for the last year or so, but still a good hard court player, and then he beat Korda. So he got lucky, it was not Alcoraz, but still found a way to win in three. Point is not exactly the greatest competition, but then again, he went through qualifying, so I'm not gonna roast them for playing extra matches, but I will point out the best opponent he's played is basically Korda. So a bit of a step up here, not an insane step up, because LaHeshka went out can be quite streaky. But LaHeshka's played better competition, beat in the likes of Fritz and Quinn, et cetera. Well, Nolucci's been good, but I do wonder if part of it is based on a relatively weak path through into the quarter finals. However, I think LaHeshka should be favored, I think he's the better player, he's won multiple ATP titles before, and we know that, of course, Londolucci has not. So you can argue that, it might be a big moment for Londolucci. Then again, the crowd was definitely, I'd say somewhat balanced against Korda. I'd say it was mainly Korda,

16:27because of course it isn't America, but we have seen the Spanish crowds, the Cholane crowds, the Argentinian crowds. They've been quite loud in the event, so a lot of support for the Spaniard. So we'll see how that works out. I assume the crowd will be more in favor of Londolucci than LaHeshka in this one. However, I do think LaHeshka's gonna win, I think he's the better player, he's only dropped one set so far into this entire event, and he's being good players, being Fritz handling the third set was quite impressive. I think Londolucci can keep the somewhat competitive, but I think eventually Luz LaHeshka is a better server, he has the better forehand, and I think eventually he will wear down Londolucci over the course of what could be a three set marathon. But I do think the Londolucci is gonna lose. I didn't mind the team total over in this one for LaHeshka. I think that he could end up being a breaker in there, then maybe ends up coasting the second set, or we get the marathon that could always be in store here. But LaHeshka, we know can be quite streaky. Londolucci's been good, but a weak competition has helped.

17:29So I like the over in this one. I think you'll end up seeing a pretty competitive matchup. Moving on, into the next match for Wednesday, you have Paul taking on fees. Now, reminder, we already have fees to win the quarter at plus 650. So we're already priced in at a much better price to keep that in mind. Fees is minus 130, Paul's around plus 107 for the spread minus half a game for fees, plus half a game for Paul, and the over under is at 23 and a half. Now, unlike Luz LaHeshka and Londolucci, which I skipped over, obviously, is on Luz LaHeshka's not played many VP matches, at least because he has not made many deep runs before. We do have head to head history between Paul and Fees, faced off in Shanghai about three years ago, or two and a half years ago, and Paul did win in three sets. Doesn't matter, not really. There's three years ago, we know Fees is still pretty young, and he has gotten better over the course of the last couple of years. Fees, though, has been pretty good, and they're beating Blanche in straight sets. City pass only dropping one game in the entire match, and then they're beating Vacherot in three.

18:30As for Paul, he's been vulnerable, but good. The Monorino, the Colonyone, and the Etchiverry. So a very impressive showing by Paul against Etchiverry. He dropped four games as he was struggling early in the matches. I believe he was down a break to Monorino in the third set of the first round, her first match, but either way got through, and he played his best match in the round of 16. So we'll see if Paul can keep her rolling, or is Fees just gonna play better because he's faced better competition. No offense to Monorino, who I know didn't make a good run earlier to the final in Montpellier, but the point is Colonyone, we know, is still a mostly a challenger guy. I think he's pretty good, but still not exactly much of an ATP resume. So those two opponents that he struggled with are talented, but once again, not exactly in great form. Blanche isn't really, once again, a great ATP player. He's also a challenger guy, a very young American. City pass was in good form, ended up beating Domennaur, because he always does, but Fees buried him,

19:30only dropped one game. And Vaturot is good. In general, he's the top 30 guy, and on these fast courts in Miami, tough serve to deal with. So I think I'd argue that Fees has faced off against better competition, so far in this event, and he's only dropped one set. So I think Fees is gonna win in this one. I understand you're looking at Paul who played his best match last, but I think Fees is objectively better, and I think that Fees, once again, is the more talented player. It should be a war. I don't see it really being easy in this one, but I do think you're looking at a spot where I think Fees just has more firepower. I think he is the better server in this match. And Paul, I think, will have some questionable shot selections, which can result in some, I'd say, opportunities for Fees to capitalize. So I'm on Fees in this one. I already have him though at 650, so I'm not gonna bet it, because I already have his quarter odds, but still, I think Fees will win, and I do think that Paul will keep it close, but not good enough. I think Fees has the job done, in my opinion, in, I'll say a competitive match,

20:32but I straight said, when would totally shock me, but I'll say Fees in three for this one. Moving on to the matches, taking place on Thursday. So for this one, we have a massive favorite. I'll get it out of the way first. Sinner is about minus 5,000. Tiafos are around 14 to one. For this red, minus five and a half, for Sinner, plus five and a half of Tiafo, and the over under is at 19 and a half. Now, we know Tiafo has been a marathon man, so far in the tournament, because he won the first match in straights against Kazza, beat Mensik in three in an epic tie break, where both guys have match points, but he found a way to survive, Mensik was a fending champion, so nice one there, and then beat Othman in the three sets in the round 16. For Sinner, he has been on an absolute role, a Sinci ended up losing in the match in Doha to Mensik. He not only won Indian Wells, but he also has been winning every match in Miami without dropping a set. So he took it personally, won the entire 1,000 title in Indian Wells

21:32without dropping a set, and then ended up showing up in Miami, same story, different day. Should've dropped the setting as Mikkelson, but it doesn't matter, should've could've won a Mikkelson show to Sinner found a way through in straights sets once again. So for the head Ted Tiafo has been competitive, not exactly recently, they faced off in the first meeting in Antwerp in 2019. Sinner did win in three sets, next gen final, Sinner did win in four. Tiafo did beat him in Vienna in three sets in 2021. Since then, two meetings, not that competitive Sinner beat him in Vienna in straights sets and beat him in Cincinnati two years ago in straights sets. So once again, Tiafo's got his work cut out for him. I don't think anybody's giving him a chance to win. I'm not. I mean, I think Sinner's gonna win probably in straights sets again, but if you wanna argue that Tiafo can serve well enough to force a 7.5 or 7.6, I don't mind the Sinner team total over at 12.5, it's plus money, it's like plus 1.16. I think that's appealing. I mean, Mikkelson got the two separate 7.5 plus sets

22:34and he did not get broken in the first set until he held five straight games. Yes, Sinner had a low 40 in there and he blew it, but still point is Mikkelson was able to hold five times in a row and I do think that Tiafo served if the percentage is high enough. I think he can serve well enough to at least force a breaker or 7.5, but for value alone on a minus 5,000 favorite, I don't mind Sinner team total over. There is a chance he barriers him. I'm aware that's a possibility, but I do think Tiafo, but at least based on what we've seen in the head to head, he doesn't get totally embarrassed in these meetings. He did force a breaker in Cincinnati in the last meeting. So maybe we see that happen again where Sinner is a little bit of lax in their turn games early on. The courts played pretty quick. Tiafo looked sharp with the day off and then maybe he keeps one set close. I think Sinner wins the probably straight sets, but I'll go for the team total over for Sinner in this one. Team total over for Tiafo is also plus money at around 7.5. So that's an angle too. If you want to go for a same game parlay

23:36and just pick one tie break and hope Tiafo doesn't get curb stomped in the second set, that's an option, but I think that it could be a bit of a longer match than expected, but I do expect Sinner to win because he always does. Moving on into the final match of the quarterfinals, arguably the match over the round. You can argue that Paul Fee's is quite good, but based on current forms, Veravin's run below is a very good match. So Vera's a massive favorite of a minus 2.90. A surrender is around plus 2.25. For the spread, I see minus 3.5 for Veravin around plus 102. Plus 3.5 for a surrender low and the overrunner is at once again 22 and a half games. Before the headtab, they faced off already this year and Verav buried surrender low in the Aussie Open and straight sets. Beat him in the Davis couple last year and straight sets as well. And we saw a surrender low retire after a set and change in Toronto last year. Before that surrender low was 3 and elegance, Verav, but all three meetings were on clay.

24:37So once they switched to heart court, we saw Verav wake up and dominate the headtab. Now for the path so far, surrender low has been very good. I'd be Toronto in the first round, which is a clay specialist or who's a clay specialist? So not exactly impressive there, but even Mepedev in three and beat Umber and straight sets. So Mepedev, we know, was in great form, made the final meeting wells. So very good one there. Did drop a set to Sakamoto in the first round. So Mepedev wasn't exactly fireman or cylinders, but surrender low won the first set, six nothing, thought it might get dicey and it did because he was in the third set with Mepedev. But he found a way. So nice one there and then he killed Umber in the next round. For Verav, he looked fine, but not overly impressive in the last couple of rounds, beat damn in straight sets. I don't think Dan's any good. You're looking at him beating Chilichin III. That one got a bit dicey. And then he beat Halus in straight sets, been embarrassing to not break a single time in the entire match, but either way it wins a win. Over six on break point chances,

25:38but Halus we know is a guy who can be tricky with a servant forehand. I think Verav should have broke him at least one time, but either way it wins a win. So I will go with, in my opinion, what should be a close matchup. I like the over in this one. I see it being closed, I think that's run below despite getting buried in the Aussie open. I think it'll play relatively well in this one. He has been very good at Miami in the past as well. This is not a fluke run. He's been good in this event in years past. And I think that you're looking at a guy who right now has the forehand rolling. The serve can be dicey at times, I get it, but Verav had a hard time breaking against the likes of Halus in the last round. I think Surundalo's live actually. I'm not saying he's gonna officially win, but I do think he can make this very, very stressful for his Verav. And I think that Surundalo has looked very comfortable on the courts here in Miami. And I think the crowd support will be in favor of Surundalo with the Argentinians who can be quite loyal in Miami.

26:41I remember years ago, long time ago, I went to the Miami open with my mom and I saw Del Potro taking on Rionic. I believe Del Potro won in three sets. And the Argentinian crowd was going absolutely crazy for the entire match. So a lot of Argentinians in Miami, and I think they're gonna be supporting Surundalo in this one. Not sure how the German crowd's looking, but for my personal experience in the Miami open, the crowd goes nuts for the Argentinians. So I see crowd support in favor of Surundalo. There might be enough to win it out, right? But I do like the over in this one. I think it's a marathon. I don't mind the over two and a half sets. I think we get an absolute reward for this one. Over two and a half sets plus 150. I like it. I'll go for Surundalo to keep this match competitive. That's my thoughts for that one. I know it's gonna wrap it up for the four court of final matches in Miami. Time to move on into the lock and dog picks. 30:48Cut. Put your money where your mouth is. Welcome back everyone to the tennis game podcast finished going through the quarterfinals in Miami. Time to move on into the lock and dog picks. Coincidentally, the lock and dog will both be on to the Wednesday matches, which is why I am recording it early, at least early in the morning at 5 a.m. So for the lock here, I'm going back to the first match. I think the first match is going to win. But I do think the team total has some value. Gino Alhascha team total over 12.5 at minus 140. Caesars has minus 140. Many times I mentioned this, but I'll say it again. Caesars is a must-use book for team totals in tennis. The pricing is insane. They are usually 20 to 30 cents off market. Alhascha was mainly like minus 160 minus 170. I found minus 140. So thank you Caesars. I'm going to take it once again. Alhascha is probably winning in pretty comfortable fashion for most of these matches in this event. He has gone over the team total in all three matches. So we've seen a couple of long sets of 7.5 or 7.6,

31:51and he went three sets against Fertz as well. So he has gone over this in all three matches, but there has been a bunch of long sets for both guys in this matchup. So we've seen a 7.5 or a 7.6 set in 5.3 along the Luigi matches. And we've seen a 7.5 or 7.6 in 5 of Alhascha's last six. Now, the courts in Miami play fast. A Londolucci is not as good of a server as Alhascha, but he has served quite well in the event so far. It's why he's still in this event in the quarter finals. Alhascha can be a pretty, I'd say, inconsistent returner, but I think Alhascha is going to do enough to hold that I think I won at least one set. As for Londolucci, I think I'll serve well enough to at least force a breaker or a 7.5, but I think that the team total is quite appealing. So I'll go for that instead. Game of the Alhascha team total over as my lock for the show. For the dog going with an alt spread, give me fees minus 1.5 games against Paul at even money. So fees has been very good in the event.

32:52He only dropped one set to Vacherot who has been dangerous on these fast hard courts before. By the point, his fees has been playing quite well. He's only lost one set as for Paul. He also set two Cologne and Manorino. He played very well against Etchevary. I think then again, getting Etchevary in the round 16 of a 1,000 event on a hard court is a pretty favorable draw. But once again, fees has played in my opinion, better competition and he's looked better doing it. So I think fees should win. Plus, fees has been really dominant on the serve and Paul has been worse. So for the actual comparison stats wise, in this event, fees is winning 82.6% of his first serve points and 70.3% of his second serve points. He has been serving bombs so far into this event. Paul has been respectable, but nowhere near the same stats as fees. He's winning 76.4% of first serve points and 60.9% of second serve points. So fees doing the math right now is roughly 6% better on first serves

33:55and roughly 10% better on second serves. I think fees are just serving better. So based on that, I think this price is pretty cheap. I think that you can find some value going for the games here instead. And I like the alt game number because it's even money. I'll go for that as my dog for the show. So once again, the lock and all picks, the lock's gonna be on my hashtag. Team total over 12 and a half games minus 140. For the dog and the fees minus 1 and a half games, alt spread at even money against Paul. It's gonna wrap it up for the quarters in Miami.
