Arctic Winter Games: Juneau's Snowshoers Compete

The Arctic Windsor Games kick off on March 8th in Whitehorse, Yukon, bringing together middle and high school athletes from circumpolar regions. Around the world, Team Alaska has 270 young competitors, including four snowshoors from Juno, who are gearing up with traditional wooden snowshoes. Laced with animal sinew, these old-school snowshoes get strapped on with lampwick to raw-hide boots, a method passed down through generations and treated with varnish too.
