0:00I'm Hayah Punjwani with an AP News Minute, the Supreme Court is hearing arguments on birthright citizenship with President Trump in attendance. Chief Justice John Roberts told Solicitor General D. John Sauer it's unclear how already recognized exceptions to birthright citizenship can be at play here. Children of ambassadors, children of enemies during a hostile invasion, children on warships, and then you expand it to the whole class of illegal aliens are here in the country. I'm not quite sure how you can get to that big group from such tiny and sort of idiosyncratic examples. AP correspondent Sheikh Saadik reports, the new census in India may help shape decisions on welfare and regional politics. This census is crucial, as India has been making policy without a recent population baseline and has relied on sample surveys. A new population count will reshape welfare policies and political representation. I'm Hayah Punjwani.
