Senators are discussing a proposal to end the Homeland Security budget stalemate by funding much of the department, including the Transportation Security Administration Airport workers going without pay. The deal would exclude ISIS' enforcement and removal operations that have been core to the dispute. Afghan authorities say they've released American academic Dennis Koyle after holding him for over a year. Afghanistan's Taliban-run foreign ministry announced the release came on the occasion of Eid al-Fidr, the Muslim holiday that marks the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Officials say two Indian flagged gas tankers have passed through the strait of Hormuz without incident. Indian media reported that the two tankers followed a route approved by Iran, President Trump yesterday extended his deadline for Iran to reopen the strait, saying the U.S. would hold off-striking power plants in the country for five days.
