0:00I made Donahue with an AP News Minute. The head of the European Parliament's Trade Committee is calling President Trump's tariff hike on European Union cars and trucks unacceptable. Committee Chair Bernard Lang said the Trump administration keeps breaking its commitments. The president says he will increase the tariffs charged on cars and trucks from the EU next week to 25 percent. We have a trade deal with the European Union. They were not adhering to it. So I raised the tariffs on cars and trucks to 25 percent. That's billions of dollars coming into the United States and it forces them to move their factory production much faster. The president and European Commission President Ursula Vonderley and had agreed to the trade deal last July. It set a 15 percent tariff on most goods. The tariffs hit at a moment when the Iran war has crushed the world's economy. With expectations of slower growth and higher inflation. I'm Ed Donahue.
