0:00Good morning. I'm Ed Donahue with an AP News Minute. The Trump administration says the war in Iran has been terminated before the 60-day deadline to seek congressional approval. Yesterday, Iran's Supreme Leader said the Islamic Republic will protect its nuclear and missile capabilities as a national asset. More from the AP's John Gambrell. We also heard Hamine say through the state television anchor that he believed the only place that Americans belonged in the Middle East, in the Persian Gulf, was actually at the bottom of its waters. That's a direct threat and that's likely not going to go over well with President Trump. Many Republicans who have been uneasy with President Trump's war in Iran have emphasized there would be a May 1st deadline for Congress to intervene, but today is May 1st, and the date is now set to pass with no action from GOP lawmakers who continue to defer to the White House.
