0:00I'm Ed Donahue with an AP News Minute. Louisiana's congressional primaries are being suspended as a result of yesterday's Supreme Court ruling. The high court struck down a majority black congressional district in Louisiana. After the ruling, Louisiana Democratic Congressman Troy Carter said it would be too late to make any sudden changes. My election, for example, in Louisiana, the early voting begins in two days on Saturday. So if precedent matters, then clearly, this is something that will have to be taken up in the 2028 cycle, not the 2026 cycle. Republican governor Jeff Landry and Attorney General Liz Morrell said the ruling means Louisiana is prohibited from holding elections under the state's current House districts. Louisiana currently is represented in the House by four Republicans and two Democrats. A revised map would give Republicans a chance to pick up at least one more seat in the November midterms, possibly adding to Republican gains nationwide. I'm Ed Donahue.
