About this episode
Almost 70% of short-term lets in Clare are entire homes. New figures released by the Department of Housing show as of October 2025, 69% of the county's 2,040 short-term residential units, such as AirBnBs, are listed as full houses or apartments. This is above the national average of 64%, while it's also been revealed that Clare's overall short-term let stock has risen by 15% since 2022. National Advocacy Manager of housing charity Threshold, Ann-Marie O'Reilly, says the numbers prove the role accommodation of this nature is playing in the housing crisis in Clare.
