Accommodation Limited In Clare As Heatwave Drives Staycation Demand
About this episode
The recent heatwave across Europe has prompted many Irish holidaymakers to think twice about heading abroad.
With soaring temperatures, wildfires in some popular destinations and warmer weather here at home, travel agents are reporting a dip in foreign holiday bookings, while staycations are proving increasingly attractive.
But is this just a short-term response to the sunshine, or are we seeing a real shift in the way people plan their holidays?
To discuss that, Alan Morrissey was joined by Gearóid Mannion, Travel Counsellor in Ennis, and Seán Lally, Chair of the Clare Tourism Advisory Forum and co-owner of Hotel Woodstock.
