AARP (formally the American Association of Retired Persons) is a United States-based interest group whose stated mission is "to empower people to choose how they live as they age". According to the organization, it had more than 38 million members as of 2018. What many people do not know is that since its founding 50+ years ago when the emphasis was on retired people they have branched out into an organization that serves man diverse groups. Would you believe they have over 4 million military and veteran members, making the one could argue, the organization with the largest military membership organization in the world? For comparison, the American Legion has 2 million members.
Hear about the programs they have for military members and their families. Learn what help you can get when you transition from your career in the military to civilian life. Colleen speaks of discount and special offers for you as an active, retired or past service veteran. Don’t miss it or the next program where she talks about AARP’s efforts to stop scams aimed at our military and their families. © 2020 William N Hodges
