A Reflection for When the Sacrifice Feels Like It Cost Too Much

Some things do not seem worth the sacrifice.

There’s an old joke about a chicken and a pig passing a breakfast shop advertising bacon and eggs.

The chicken suggests they go in.

The pig declines: “You only have to make a contribution. I have to make a commitment.”

“…present your bodies as a living sacrifice…which is your reasonable act of worship.”

— from Romans 12:1

How many of us feel like the pig—wondering whether what God is asking of us is really worth the sacrifice?

I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
