About this episode
Oh, the holidays. They can be wonderful or fraught, or a total mixed bag. Maybe holidays growing up were generally joyful for you, or maybe they were stressful. If you grew up with divorced parents, or you’re divorced with kids yourself, you may find schedules and logistics tough, and also all the emotions that can come up if your family doesn’t look the way you thought it would. It’s easy (and human) to get caught in the trap of thinking about how holidays “should” feel, or how you should feel during the holidays, but the fastest way to guarantee they’re going to be tough is to try to force the “merry and bright.” Maybe this year felt particularly challenging in that regard because the world feels so uncertain and unstable right now. This is a talk about all of that - and the importance of letting yourself feel your feelings during the holidays, but also every day.
