23:32and and allow for christians to to have their their opportunities in in the public square as well he's turning down all of their their their their requests for um you know uh you know uh uh you know uh there there there are events on the streets um you know so so we we're we're we're facing uh an interesting time in america we have to decide who we are we have to get back to the truth that we are uh made in god's image and therefore equally valuable and we have to decide whether or not we truly want a constitutional rule of law or we're going to drift toward marxist type socialism and that's uh that's exactly what the the the house resolution was about last week and the federal government the house passed a resolution saying hey look we're against socialism and even eight democrats signed on to it even the democrats are are are are are are are very concerned there are significant percentage of democrats concerned about the takeover of the democrat party by radical marxist and mutton and muslims why because they they know that their goal is to destroy

30:57how close are those alliances is there really when when we see these uh kids in the streets basing off against uh our our own police forces are they what what are their ties to uh uh muslims and people who want to do america harm well uh that that that is that is the the million dollar question well we know that that that when they have what they call peaceful protests like the no kings events um that they're highly highly organized when you if you can pull out you know uh 10,000 events um across the country on the same day after having built no major infrastructure and done no major advertising and you've got consistent messaging across the board across the United States in one day it's it's a multi million dollar operation with major recruiting

31:58campaigning going on underground okay we know for a fact that there are underground communication structures and networks that are that the terrorists sell use and that's what the state department uncovered with the AI collected that was based in idli there they run cover to to maintain the anonymity of all these people and and they do that for homostead do it for hezbollah they do it for antifa cells uh and so we we know that uh the the the actions that they're engaging are highly coordinated their their ideology is pretty tight with respect to their their their goals and their enemies and uh you know so so we know that there's uh you know intentionality there we know there's coordination there we know there's you know a lot of networking going on uh recruiting happening and so what they do is they they leverage this fourth generation warfare tactic that um you know al-Qaeda used to get to get America out of Somalia years ago and they they they there's a there's an insurgency indigenous kind of insurgency from within and they seed this in you know

33:04these groups uh they they kind of they they they use these kind of left left leaning disaffected youth as their kind of fodder for recruitment and then they they you know encourage them to gather in a particular place to you know uh to uh protest so to speak peacefully whether it be stop cop city or or some kind of uh you know transgender protest or something uh and then they'll seed that group of people with paid agitators um and they'll foment you know agitation within the crowd and then they'll spark some violence um you know but they're paid agitators oftentimes they come from out of the country uh they traveled the country they're paid by someone we're not quite sure but there's dark money involved probably from the arabella network the arabella network has as at least seven different foundations that pop up new organizations on purpose and they fund these new organizations specifically uh to make it look like their bonafide grassroots operations but we know for a fact that they're not they're they're funded by George Soros and you know warm

34:06buffet and all these all these guys uh so there's multiple billions of dollars being poured into these kinds of efforts to to destabilize america all across the country one of the primary kind of i'd say capital one of the cat i'd say the capital of antifa in america is portland origan and so you you know you see you know the takeover of of of of cities mayors being complicit in the takeover of these cities same thing goes with muslims muslims do the same thing you look at deerbore michigan um as soon as they get to critical mass they'll take over the city literally ignoring the laws and the expectations of the voters uh to to to uh to manage their their affairs at the community level so it's a big this is a big problem i want you know the state department needs to go deeper the cia needs go deeper the fb i need to go deeper we need to assuming the fb i shouldn't be defunded but national security and whole land security and all the rest need to take a look a good hard look at what's going on and and make sure that you know these people are routed out and in quite

42:25yeah and then we got the outlaws coming up uh 80 to play us here next weekend all right let's let's look at this weekend's games while in that speculate a little bit um in uh let's start with the three a buffalo green river it's a seven o'clock kick how do you see that going the bison hmm that's my new team yeah i know and buffalo is always tough to figure out man i always got a handful of athletes and uh you know what i i think coaching and culture is huge and i'm going with the wolves man i think uh walk is gonna get that going quicker than most expect i i don't deny that but i gotta go bison you know that's you have to pindale warland pindles playing some pretty good football right now i don't know they beat Glenrock 15 14 uh on a shocker as they made a two point conversion stop to get the win watch out

44:32of course well wiley as a coach how do you get a team to be motivated you mentioned get off the bus the it's a real thing a team on the road sometimes when they show up or just i don't know what it is are you sleepwalking are you overwhelmed by not being on your field what what goes on but you're right a Jackson it's got a real part of the hardest things and you know we're in Denver you got 35 45 minute trips so it's not a big deal but here you got sometimes six hours yeah where do you stop your legs you can't find your legs for yeah and so you know it's uh it's a it's a crapshoot and really every group is different every year you know some groups you need to give more time to stop and get there earlier and then you got the issue how much class are they missing it's a it's one of the more difficult parts to be in the head coach yeah yeah trying to get that team off the bus get ready to play when they uh

51:00about why we have a couple of librarians at a park county here Holly Baker children's librarian park county library and park county school district number six school librarian genison Lucas we're talking about a guy named mag barnette in certain circles a rock star right this guy's like 70 works under his belt maybe you've heard of extra yarns sam and david aga whole big big big children's books mag barnets uh you know one of the top names top authors um he's coming to the library no way exactly what we said really so how does that happen uh tell somebody genison holly tell us how mag barnette how why this guy would be coming to the library here pretty soon

52:02it is soon he is mag barnette is this year's national ambassador for young people's literature which is an appointment from the library of congress and they put out a proposal for people who might be interested in having him come a little over a year ago so holly and I sat down and wrote a proposal nice i wait to say he was only going to visit five cities in the united states and he chose out of more than 350 proposals he chose kody so give me an idea of how many drafts you went through to write this proposal i'm thinking of the i used to uh in another life right grant application it's very hard you're trying to pitch yourself and you're trying to also think like what would appeal to this this organization what would appeal to mag barnette um was it hard to write yes and no yes and no it took us a long time yeah

53:10probably a couple of weeks um and what we really wanted was for him to recognize that the kids in kody really love him we love him he's like our favorite that that Wyoming doesn't get a lot of opportunities like this so we thought that's probably in our favor too um but we wrote about our favorite books and uh what we would do with them if you were to come so now for people who don't know mag barnette it's try to uh you know give us the elevator pitch of who this guy is he's he he almost always works with this one illustrator whose name is escaping me his books are very i mean illustrator the kind of books you should read and you have to show also while you're doing a read you got to show the the pictures absolutely he usually that person is john clauson he does a lot with he does there are a lot of other illustrators who have worked with him to do his books as well but he he really appreciates the imagination of children and writes in a way that let

54:17children think through the books as well so it's not just a straightforward story there's a lot of wait what's going on let me think about it's that go with it it's amazing yeah he respects imagination mm-hmm yeah i'm like just reading about some of his books um i i mean i can't say i'm you know in the mac barnette fan club but i'm reading about his books reading some of the headlines and some of the titles in they they do seem a little bit out of the box like like what i read the title and i'm thinking what could this possibly be about extra yarn about you know of finding some magic you yarn sam and david they go the the titles are just i don't know they they caused you to be and start your imagination going it's perfect yes and those are two of our favorite so um in the give me an idea about the the general children's book

55:26um genre i it seems like it is the fastest growing part of of of all books like children's children's authors popping up all the time the books i mean it's it's a growing genre is that shelf filling up at the library of course definitely there's more books out there than we can afford to buy but yeah there's a lot of great children's book authors coming out that's one of the things that mac barnette will talk about when he's here is just the value of the picture book and that picture books are for everybody it's not just it's not just children adults can read picture books older kids read picture books um that there's a lot to that particular genre as well that it increases your imagination and provides you a chance to think about all kinds of topics this upcoming visit will be monday september 21st um we obviously

1:04:07over the weekends well over the weekend a couple of things uh first of all then the far western and northwest part of the state like last weekend will have a cool front approaching uh the biggest impact is probably going to come sunday into monday uh with some showers and thunderstorms and temperatures in northwestern Wyoming sunday will just be in the sixties now the rest of the state stays pretty you know comfortably warm but there's going to be a little bit of shower and thunderstorm activity saturday not a lot but sunday the activity does pick up and that'll go into monday as well as that subtropical moisture comes back in all in all jay some similarities to last weekend you know it really nothing too bad but you do need to be prepared for a few showers and thunderstorms especially sunday cross parts of the state okay well probably tomorrow we're looking for a game time forecast for high school football across the state and the cowboys are coming home the pokes are home after the border war so we'll need uh need a larmy forecast also all right I will be

1:06:21and republicans and washington haven't already done uh in real life so that's yeah so usually that's what it is if you look at you look at what they're already doing and you say well what are they gonna do next week and then uh and then we write that so it's trying to predict the future yeah almost i mean you're trying to do sad tire in an age where right wing journalism or even left wing journalism can be taken seriously as straight up humor um in fact i mean how often i guess there's so many questions i want to ask but how often are your stories retweeted re bumped uh for someone who just doesn't know who didn't read close enough who doesn't understand what you're doing sad tire news and and they pass as long as real news oops yeah i mean it happens a lot he used to happen a lot more you know like right in the beginning when people didn't know what the Babylon B was um you know we were getting lots of you know celebrities and

1:07:27and politicians and stuff who would think that the Babylon B was real and share it i mean uh there was a big news story back in 2020 i think when trump shared the Babylon B during the election and it wasn't really clear if he knew it was sad tire enough the way she heard so uh you know we like to think he knew he knew what he was doing but who knows you know he might he might have thought it was real you touched on it like being able to do humor now is so hard i mean it got super touchy with with any kind of woke d e i stalk like uh all humor offense tragedy is comedy vice versa it's always been hard to do comedy there's there's almost always a time when you're gonna miss um it's but it's even harder now with socials uh explain like what facebook lawsuit stuff like this facebook doesn't understand what you're doing they don't know what real news is or what humor and

1:08:32it's just hard to do humor yeah i mean uh we encountered that kind of stuff early on quite a bit you know we're still fighting those battles but um we saw a lot of stuff where facebook would link us in with with uh like fake news sites you know because there are actually our sites out there that are um designed just uh just to just as share fake news and spread confusion and you know there's not really a satirical element to it and so they they would start fact checking out so our jokes would get lumped in uh with with fake news and and we would get fact checked so we published a joke you know that was ridiculous and you'd get this fact check label slapped on there from facebook that it was uh you know this is an untrustworthy side and yeah and uh yeah so we we've been dealing with that stuff since day one and you know i don't know that it's gotten any better we still see it uh from time to time on on all the different social networks

1:09:35yeah well as the page counts get into the millions everybody starts to understand what babelon be is about even snopes snopes probably got you on speed dial i mean when something pops up like this snopes just as look we're not gonna snopes it it's babelon be man do you get it yeah we close I mean snopes was probably the worst one because we had stuff you know we did an article that was like CNN spins spins their news in a washing machine before they tried before they published it so they can get the right spin i don't know and you know just the most obvious the theoretical joke and it would get fact checked by snopes and then facebook would come down and say like you know their purveyors are misinformation and they would like start start on penalizing our page for sharing stuff like that so those were ridiculous we're talking with Kyle man babelon be we'll tell you what the Wyoming angle is in a minute i guess

1:10:36we'll save that for the punchline or something but Kyle you touched on how you're different what you do similar to the onion similar to here in Wyoming uh Casper planet planet Casper or whatever it is it's it's not fake news fake news uh to me is aggravating when something poses as real nose but it's not um what what are you doing this satirical i mean you're a vulking laughter but you're just prompting self-reflection what is the business model yeah yeah it's it's a it's a form of humor where you're exaggerating the truth um but you're doing it to prove a point you you're doing it to actually communicate that truth you know so you're not doing it just to just to spread spread spread you're doing it to make a point um so you know the satir has gone back thousands of years uh you you go all the way back to the the bible and see instances of of the profits using satire um but

1:11:41that you know for us the business model is doing that and um you know the stories get spread far and wide on social and then we get a lot of people supporting us you know because they see what we're doing they see that we're mocking the things that need to be mocked in culture and we're we're making fun of the things that other people won't make fun of um you know especially when we launch this site back in 2016 Kyle what kind of stuff what kind of ground you cover i know but for the listeners who don't where where do you go with the humor with the satire you know politics is the low hanging fruit that's almost too easy my goodness uh religion that can get scary poke in the hornets nest lifestyles is easy i love the california teen driver who fails his driving test roll into the stop side but where do you go where do you take it almost everywhere okay well that was because that's because my i'm currently teaching my son how to drive it and in california so that's where i've got that material great but our uh yeah the topics you know we range we range you know

1:12:47kind of like you hit today from everything from politics to religion to to everyday life um i mean i think pretty much any topic can be um can be right for satire um you know as long as you're you're willing to to be honest with uh where you're going with that joke and and and the point that you're trying to make you know people can kind of tell when you're when you're riding a joke from a from a place of authenticity and commenting on it in a truthful way you know and like i said before it was you know when the Babylon be launched there was a lot of comedians and satire sites that wouldn't wouldn't go to those places you know they wouldn't there's topics they wouldn't touch um and so being able to kind of have this freedom to joke about those things was what made was what made be deterrent chief Babylon be take us into the newsroom how many contributors i mean a lot of it's got to be coming out of your brain which is a scary thought perhaps what's the newsroom what does it look like yeah we have um we have a dozen writers

1:13:50you know i don't know maybe 12 to 15 writers that are regularly sending us material um it most of these people are remote like from all over the country so we're getting reports we're getting reports from all over the country you know national news organization but um down here in southern california we have um we have a bunch of people locally that uh get together and i kind of do the writers room staying where we're sitting sitting around and making jokes and if you ever you ever sat around and made jokes with your buddies around the campfire i mean that's kind of what we do for work you know sit around and we read the news and goof around about it and uh and we're always coming up with stuff trying to like i said try to stay ahead of reality and and and kelp is something funny yeah and and be very very topical but unlike a newsroom of a traditional news you know deliver a news media you're just saying what sounds newsy with the comedy you gotta make sure the joke lands you gotta make sure the headline lands and that's often not just one person you

1:14:53gotta bounce it off a few people i mean kyle i trust you as the gatekeeper of knowing what's humor what isn't and probably you know 99 out of 100 things do land but who who who who do you run who do you really trust who's ear who's eyes do you really trust saying yeah this is funny i mean uh well my you know my wife doesn't think the battle umby is very funny she doesn't get it so if i tell her joke and she likes it but i know it's hilarious um right but you know there's always an element of risk with comedy where you're writing something and you you're not really sure how um you know the audience is gonna take it you you you do kind of develop and build that muscle as you as you write more and more of it you start to understand um what things are really gonna connect and what things are but like i said before i i think it's more about writing um writing for yourself you know and writing writing things that you think are funny um and letting the audience kind of come around to that rather than you know i i don't think you

1:15:57want to get into a place where you're you're writing just um just to do what the audience thinks is funny because then it's never gonna be you know it's never gonna be surprising it's never gonna surprise people in the way the comedy should because comedy always has an element of um of surprise to it you know and i think once you've kind of become whatever you what when you start doing the jokes that everybody expects then you know you're not you're you're gonna kind of become stale and so um well we do kind of keep an eye on what things are gonna be funny to the audience so that's kind of my job along with i have a couple other editors who help me out um but uh beyond that it's like trying to write something true and i want to you know and and people will be it will be attracted to that in the long run i mean real news is almost all there with the joke you just got to twist a little bit whether it's you know uh uh uh the Babylon being not afraid to go there when it comes to the Lindsey Clancy trial in the jury i saw a piece on that uh Mitch McConnell proof of life uh

1:17:02senate approves Mitch McConnell working remotely from the grave of these and and i just finished uh uh my draft for a fantasy football team and had i drafted and not had the computer do it i probably would have been you know failed but friend who completely forgot about fantasy draft projected win handling all this stuff couldn't be more true. Oh, in the Michigan uh football college football it's all in the headlines and the headlines are so funny that one of my favorite parts is if you are a typical news reader today and you don't get past the headline that's all you really need to joke is right there but the there's plenty more if you want to read on. Yeah, you know that's that's a fun a fun part of it for us is is writing this you know not only the headline but this full story um where you know we get obviously a lot of people can just laugh at the headline and share it on social and that's fine

1:18:03um but you know people that really want to dig further we can click on and we've got a full full on report and we like to pretend that uh we like to pretend that we're real news um you know reporting on this bizarre world that we live in so it's really trying to trying to be as dry as possible and trying to make it seem real and and that's probably why a lot of people get confused you know because we're writing the stuff that uh that that isn't just thinkable from reality and sounds so real uh so we're always trying to kind of maintain that dry like that uh dry news that's our feel. Yeah I mean it's so evident even reading the quote from the NC AA official on the field who said they admitted they keep a real clock until the right team wins you almost want to go look these people up like is this really a referee now it's not um it's a bad block B so you're coming away homing what's going on with that um I'm excited I know

1:19:03folks in in Cheyenne area should be excited Kyle man editor and chief of the Babylon B will be joining some folks at a big uh fam Wyoming family alliance gala fundraiser September 25th how did you get wrangled into that yeah well I get to do this kind of thing like I don't know they have 15 20 times a year I get to go around the country and and um and go to an event like this and and it's a lot of fun you know I get to I get to raise and enjoy and humor and depending on the event you know you may be going into a situation where it's a political event or sometimes a Christian event or a pro life event you know and being able to talk to people who are on the front lines of battling you know whatever it is well whatever culture war they're fighting um and being able to go and bring a lot of humor is great because you know these these events can be kind of boring sometimes you know if you'll if you'll pardon the uh yeah the honest you know but sometimes you go to these things and it's you know you hear a lot of great speakers you know

1:20:05but sometimes it's kind of dark and depressing uh so being able to go into something like the Wyoming family alliance and um and just bring a little joy in humor and watch everybody laugh you know it's just such a great time I I'm I'm blessed because uh when I'm writing jokes on a day-to-day basis I don't get to see people laughing at them you know I just get to see the little the little Facebook thumbs up or what yeah or whatever so to be able to you know we use a bunch of Babylon v jokes on the screen and we talk about you know how the sausage is made and stuff and being able to see the faces of people actually laughing at this stuff and having a great time is a blast so that's going to be that's going to be a ton of fun I can't wait to get get out there to shine. Mhmm echoing laughter yeah is the real-life feedback thumbs up from socials I love Kyle Matt humor comedy almost always works as an icebreaker for a tense attention or as just you know some fun and what could be a boring get together um yeah that's so cool oh yeah one last

1:24:14acres in the morning to over 2000 by the end of the day their last update was 19 hours ago and it was about 2000 then so we're waiting to hear this morning if it has grown and if any of it has been contained yet last update it was 0 percent contained lots of wind very dry so they're up against some some intense fire conditions yeah it's all dawn days fall these not making it any easier today with the weather forecast maybe over the weekend some moisture but today is going to be another kind of red flaggy day what is it burning is this a grass fire or forest or a little both or where where is it burning I'm not familiar with this area so this is in Wheatland I've got it um southwest of Wheatland and it's actually at the last update it was 2600 acres um whoa I did talk to a woman who's about about 10 miles from it and she just talked about how at

1:25:20night it's just you can see it's glowing red lots of smoke and people are without power in that area they temporarily turn the power off so I need to find out of course this was breaking news late last night when we did it but uh if people are still without power we're talking Wheatland Wyoming though without power is like Thursday is it uh do they have power in Wheatland or internet no I'm just getting Wheatland uh right they'll goodbye I know four structures were compromised yesterday um so we'll see if any structures have been lost overnight so I mean we're like 10 days in the September or still talking about wildfire season but getting close to where we can turn a corner on that with the weather but not today as you look at weather across the region 80s dry windy hanging there fire fighters hanging there everybody and let's get this out

1:26:27uh the woman with a car chase do people think they're gonna get away my goodness two stories from Colby Feed or um the woman with a child this Michigan woman who now we learn was uh confronted at a Walmart parking lot and took off yeah so there had been uh these missing posts for the six-year-old circulating online out of Michigan and someone at the Evanston Walmart recognized six-year-old Liam the missing child and called the police so they waited in the parking lot until uh the boy and his mother Marisa Kalea stepped out and got into their car before an officer approached her asked her for her name and she gave fake names um for a moment it looked like when they said man you're gonna need to step out of the vehicle it looked like she was going to be cooperative and then uh seemingly somewhat impulsively took off and it was kind of a wild chase as she was in town going up to 50 miles per hour at one point driving in wrong way traffic

1:27:35she blew through a stop sign and her SUV actually went airborne twice before she eventually pulled over and was taken into custody and then police found some marijuana in her purse as well oh um but no charges filed as of when you posted the story they hadn't charge or maybe they were figuring out what to charge her with uh certainly fleeing or resisting arrest and then Michigan wants a shot at her for uh abduction possibly yeah so charges were filed Monday afternoon i believe her initial appearance was 4 p.m so she is only facing six misdemeanors in the state of Wyoming that doesn't mean she won't be facing more serious charges than Michigan because if her child was illegally taken out of state in Michigan that's where they would need to prosecute her for that but in Wyoming she's looking at your correct eluding reckless driving also child endangering

1:28:36um i believe they're going to charge her with a possession of controlled substances or they already have excuse me um and she was driving without a driver's license as well hmm yeah i can't believe somebody recognized the missing from another state in at the Walmart i mean this kid's yeah this this kid's like he looks like every other you know kid his agent at instant um how about that uh way to go citizens arrest citizens arrest you don't know that show um i don't know i'm not gonna forget it's may vary uh maybe um um Andy Griffith oh okay i'm trying to catch up so that i can pop with all my colleagues so i'm listening to a lot of old music and watching a lot of old tv but i haven't gotten to that one yet oh yeah the boomer get together at cowboy state daily every morning okay uh Timothy Smith uh is supposed to be celebrating a birthday but still missing 11 days

1:29:45grand canyon flooding godly we just hope he walks out of there somehow tomorrow today um but what happened they had a uh the Baptist church lakeside Baptist church had a big prayer the power of prayer let's see it work yeah now the church is on day 12 and so they really focused in on the phantom ranch area if you look at the pictures you can see there's just a ton of debris that they're sifting through and i was able to talk to a retired uh national park service member who worked there uh during a flood in the 90s that was similar where three people went missing eventually one person was found um i think that was like 10 days into the search and they they were alive but uh the other two they did find they were not alive um basically you've got dogs and people walking on these piles of debris sticks um and they're just kind of poking around now one of the things that makes it difficult is there's a lot of animals under there um also the dogs because of

1:30:50the animals and the other odors in the air have a hard time detecting you know differentiating that from people um and it's also very dangerous they're walking on on top of these like you know really unstable grounds they do have helicopters in the air searching as well but um it's a huge area and very difficult and dangerous uh so you're uh hopefully yeah hopefully he has found his birthday yesterday um colby feedors with us this woman i remember this original case where shashoni woman was accused of exploiting a 93 year old uh now she's been arrested again on a non related uh maybe sifting money out of the chamber of commerce when she used to be uh president there yeah janey janey cronkey um she was accused of basically enticing a 93 year old woman to write checks

1:31:52in the amount eventually of 30 thousand dollars um a series of checks and then um after that happened police started looking into her other work which was as the president of their chamber of commerce in shashoni uh at one point their accountant had left town or gone away for a bit so cronkey took that over and when the uh accountant came back cronkey didn't want to show her bank statements or activities that were happening which was suspicious so the police chief i got a warrant started looking and something didn't add up so they are saying that she embezzled uh from the chamber of commerce in shashoni which their website shows they have about 20 members 20 different local businesses involved um at this point they're saying it's about i think it was eight thousand dollars but so this has been a weeks long investigation and they just arrested her i believe it was friday so now she's facing charges on that and she was already out on a ten thousand dollar cash

1:32:57bond that she had posted so a judge did set a one thousand dollar cash bond in this case she was in custody on twos day she might be out now but um these are a very serious allegations the muddy mountain uh side by side crash um we didn't know a whole lot about it in ittrona county authorities were were not uh no names no like how did the incident happen now we know a little bit more about the caster a couple that was killed in that yeah there were four people at one point in the utv and i actually drove up there on monday just to kind of see the area and it looks like they got to a point where they had a hard time turning around instead of like backing out for a long ways they they tried to turn around luckily two people stepped out so i didn't indicate say must have known this was risky um but the the utv rolled uh down almost like a cliff side uh killing both of the people inside and then their 21 year old

1:34:01daughter actually went to go go to them and she fell and sustained injuries uh which led her to being life-flighted she has been medically cleared but she is seeking some mental health care right now so we haven't had a chance to talk to her i think she was going to uh be done with her in patience day uh today so hopefully we learn more about that i can so easily happen colby have you ever driven ridden those four wheelers at tv and you get on an incline and also snowmobiling high market whenever you're on like uh you can get uh we did to a point where like i'm we're gonna tip over sideways like yeah when i was a kid i was pushing cows with a four wheeler um and i had a similar situation but i bailed i got off the floor but it did roll down into the river and it was awful but luckily nobody got hurt then but it's like sometimes you just can't

1:35:04turn around and right we got into a narrow when i say we i mean my twin sister was with me and we just got into a narrow little part of the trail it was really kind of the side of a mountain and realize oh no we don't know how to get out of here yeah and from down below it looks doable and then you get up there and you and then there's a point in no return to you like i can't turn around i can't do anything and this thing's got roll yep and get out get off it yeah i could easily happen feel good story from colby don't get too many of those in the crime world to talk about this couple that lost her wallet they were looking looking looking and at all the time it was there at home somebody had brought it to their house yeah i love this story it was uh simple but just altruism in the cowboy state this guy named david he said uh he wrote her a little note when he put the wallet under her doorstep or like a little welcome man and it said from the kindest man in the world they're the nicest man in Casper than like that because her social security card was in there

1:42:31told lawmakers Wednesday we're not in dire straits right now but we're going to be interim director is Eric Will Tanger game and fish CFO is Meredith Wood and game and fish commissioner Rusty Bell all spoke the other day in Jackson right here in this town and talked about the dire straits of the budget for game and fish that's a Markeine story that popped out uh and then uh then previously uh we did chat about a couple of days ago nearly 300 back black bears till by CPW this year alone um CPW's Colorado Parks and Wildlife three under I mean that's a huge number of bears put down by their wildlife agency in one year

1:43:34that's quadruple the 2025 numbers and these bears are getting into trouble getting into conflicts getting into garbage uh 83 bears were killed the previous year 83 euthanize by the end of August CPW had euthanized this year 294 crazy that uh that kind of an increase um yeah there's more bears and yeah there's more people and people kind of being uh a little irresponsible about you know their backyards but you know some people just are not bear aware they have no idea they might be newly transplanted from somewhere else or they might live in a neighborhood where you would never think a bear is going to walk into my yard and they do uh yeah those were Markeine

1:44:40stories and I guess Markeine's just not here this week so let's instead go to uh why um the Wyoming game and fish folks he would ray haggamans up to a cause of a widespread fish mortality along the salt river and star valley is determined I'm ray haggamans this is the Wyoming outdoorsman stay tuned the Wyoming game and fish department has identified proliferative kidney disease or PKD as the cause of a recent fish die off in the salt river the disease is triggered by a microscopic parasite called tetra capsuloidus bryosalmone after conducting specialized laboratory tests on fish from the river the department's fish health laboratory with help from the Wyoming state veterinary laboratory confirmed the parasite's presence and evidence of parasite-induced mortality current findings show that mountain white fish are the primary species being affected

1:45:43Darren Ray Jackson region fishery supervisor says this event marks the first documented instance of a PKD outbreak causing significant fish mortality within Wyoming he says well it's difficult to get an exact count we suspect that total mortality may number in the thousands PKD outbreaks have been previously documented in neighboring states including Idaho and Montana a notable outbreak occurred on the Yellowstone River in 2016 resulting in a large scale fish kill and temporary river closures Carl Smith fish health program manager says these events are typically associated with environmental stressors such as sustained low water flows and elevated water temperatures which can trigger the pathogen in fish he says the parasite lives in tiny moss-like organisms called bryozones that form colonies in the water he says these organisms then pass the parasite along to the fish research is currently being conducted across the region and surrounding states to gain a better understanding of the complex relationships between various organisms and

2:01:25clubs Zonta and Rotary and Lions Club and we are all the same except for the Freedom Caucus no you know they're kind of far right and there may be a few left people in the state but other than that in all those clubs I never once ever asked are you Republican are you a Democrat and so I guess when I say am I more conservative I'd say I'm the same as all the people in the state that's who I am I'm a conservative Wyoming Democrat because we all are all the people in the middle are pretty much similar in terms of our police systems okay thank you and then I so this is a tougher topic potentially but the Libertarian Party came after you kind of hard last week wanting you to make commitments on whether you take a pack money wanting your stance on the Iran war I mean do you want to respond to any of that or discuss that yeah I'll respond to that if you saw Kevin

2:03:34and on and why here's again what I don't like right now people are calling other people names so you hear some people get on and they call Democrats all sorts of names that communists socialists all of these things and and it's and it's just not true I'm not into name calling I that I think that's divisive I think it's combative and when I see the libertarians coming on to me with no no reason then I say that person is just like every other person and if you're a libertarian you get into Congress and you have Republicans and Democrats who are you going to talk to about making any kind of a bill you're already saying both parties failed you're already saying they're bad my idea is that what you have to do is you have to get in and you have to work with those people and make you know make sure that you know them and let me tell you two things one is

2:04:37I worked with three governors which is good first I day free and thought hired me when I was in the Senate and I worked for him I served under my Sullivan and then when I was in the Senate and Jim Guerrero was in the Senate there were two senators there at five a.m. every morning working because we both he and I wanted to know how to to address all the problems we are going to see and so I got to know him really well that way so I'm saying Democrats Republicans and even libertarians I didn't hold it against him I I don't care that but you know he can get as mad as he wants at me and it doesn't make any difference but I don't like him saying that that for no reason that he thinks that that I as a Democrat and something wrong have something wrong with me I think just to be fair wasn't Sean Johnson making those posts well here's the thing Sean Johnson's Johnson's name was on it he's one of the comments yes one of the comments in there

2:05:42so it was from the libertarian party of Wyoming and you read down all of those things and Sean Johnson made a comment right in there and so I don't know what that means I don't know whether that means he read it all or you know somebody said maybe he's not part of it but if he's not part of that if he wasn't part of that then he should know his name is in there and it came to me so I don't know okay I may have a closer look at that I was under the impression that the party was doing this and I had to be in Sean Johnson do anything that I'll have a closer look at that thank you so do you so do are you planning on doing the PBS debate yes okay I haven't heard anything from them do you know oh so you don't know whether secretary Gray is doing it no they said to send that in and they would do their process and let us know so I have no idea but yeah I'll do it I think that at this point and I know this is weird to say for a third place finisher but Kevin

2:06:44Christiansen has a big following and I think at this point his endorsement actually carries some weight are you trying to win that you know what I would love to win that yes and I think here's something and this this sounds really stupid I think a lot like like Kevin a Kevin and I when you look at the big group of people as we went through the process I got to know all of them except for two two of them never talked to me one was Gray and one was I'm free they never said anything but I became close friends I think good friends with Kevin Christiansen and at one point and and this sounds really weird I thought why don't we run as a couple do a sharing job so you how you send in a Democrat and Republican the two of us together and we represent all of Wyoming and unfortunately the Constitution stops us we can't do that but I had that idea because that's how I work I work with parties I work with people I work with ideas I want to make sure that Wyoming

2:07:44has somebody there standing up for him and yeah Kevin is great he and I talk a lot we think a lot but I don't think he's going to I don't think he's going to support anyone I don't know I mean that's his choice I don't know okay thank you we saw that oh come on slap top we thought the concept of artificial intelligence pretty much take over the news cycle this week the UW president is saying guys we gotta get on top of this we gotta get AI prowess we gotta teach our students it's come in you can't put the genie back in the bottle hours later an anthropic employee who quit was saying this stuff's gonna kill us within the decade and so you have just geysers of news going on about AI what is your stance on a policy perspective you know that's a great question AI is wonderful and horrible it's terrible and I'll tell you what else it just did there's been a math problem that's been trying to be solved by individuals for 90 years and they put a million dollar gift on

2:08:49it so anyone who could solve this math problem would get a million dollars so they took 10,000 AI agents 88 hours each so 88,000 hours and what they did they solved that problem and this was like two days ago so they can solve incredible problems they can do anything they want but you know what is missing well first of all AI has terrible problems in terms of using up too much list on the the plants too much electricity too much water too they make terrible noises but the important part is this congress has to get in and make an overall rule governing what's going on in AI because there's nothing there and I just heard again a program and here's what they said is they said most people in congress don't know what life what chat box or whatever the name is I I know what I see up but but they said they don't even have any idea what it is so how can you control what's going on and what what's happening in the AI world when it's going developing as fast

2:09:52as it can and I think there are many many dangers that that can happen there but on the positive side they're solving issues about cancer about health care issues they're doing distribution centers so people can call in and they can check dozens and dozens hundreds of places for for parts and so there there are positive things and there are negative things and I think congress has to go in and have a healthy discussion talk with experts talk with people in the field and see what needs to be done and look at the AI data centers and see if that's that's something that can that that needs to be looked at closely by experts and I put a moratorium on it for at least a year we're not we're noteware near ready to just say let's put them in our backyard and the other thing sorry they're going to to naive rural areas and saying let's put all of this in your backyard because it'll bring you jobs and it'll give you 500 men in a man camp and and and and those are tempting those

2:10:55are tempting for but I think also they're not necessarily the best thing for the people of Wyoming or Kansas or all these other little places that they're going if you wanted to legislate a moratorium or some kind of guardrails on super computing and AI data centers that would put us behind in the race to China and would potentially prompt the need for extreme diplomacy to China to make them match that effort I mean how would you achieve that kind of diplomacy because I mean if America is not doing it America's either brokering with other countries to not do it or falling behind so how do you do that diplomacy that's that's a good question um here's the thing what's the prize on AI data centers you know I don't know are they seen China they have robot Olympics and I don't know are they've seen those robot Olympics and they're very frightening and what's going what's happening is your right it's not going away yes we have to to be diplomatic with other countries

2:12:00we have to be diplomatic with Canada we have to be diplomatic with China I took Chinese I learned Chinese for a year because I think it's an important thing to be able to communicate with people and so in terms of diplomacy yeah let's bring in experts why not bring China along with multiple experts and see where they are they're not ahead of us but what are we winning on the AI what are we winning what's the prize that's what I haven't heard no one say you know we're running forward to to make sure that we win but I think that what we have to do is we have to negotiate we have to work with people we have to look at what is AI doing to the human race and they're both Chinese people and American people and are Argentina people and people all over the world and it's going to affect everyone so why don't we take it on as a problem and do something effective thank you take our re out of time um no but we're we're trying to get that Jacob

2:13:01Coxen on the show we have reached out the anthropic whistleblower who says AI is going to kill us all we we're trying to get them on the show and the Navier Stokes existence and smoothness problem is the math problem solved by AI I don't know how I would have gone another day without that math problem being solved I'm glad AI did that go ahead Claire I guess I'm going to look into it in what it was for yeah yeah you use math as a prize in law as reported but anyway thank you um is there anything I know that on the campaign trail people can and will ask you anything and you get the chance to stomp about almost anything but is there something that you haven't really gotten a chance to talk about that is important to you in the congressional space yeah two things first one is um a lot of people say they don't want to vote D because they've always voted R and if you look historically at what happens whoever wins the GOP is the person who goes on to

2:14:06Congress I don't think that's necessarily the right thing to do this time if you want to vote for my nomin or the guy who won vote for him that's fine but if you don't it's better not to vote for anyone or to consider that I'm going to work my butt off to get sure to make sure that the state of Wyoming is is taking care of that's one thing the second thing is this I have a mind that thinks all the time I'm always thinking about things and I've thought about two things that I'd like to introduce one is a national ranch and farm bill so that we put ranches and farms like national monuments put them aside so that our kids will be able to see a working ranch that has um ranching and everything going and they can visit it because they're being butt up now by foreign entities and and they've gone away and the second thing is is um a um what a drone right now what's happened is the US has spent all of its or has has used all of its missiles on little drones in Iran

2:15:08so we're almost out of missiles and they're going to build them in the end and that's good but what I think we can do in Wyoming is start manufacturing drones the reason why and I've talked to an NOAA SA scientist about that is because we have all that air above us we are out in the middle of nowhere so we can build drones easily and become part of the new technology have new jobs have money coming in and um make sure that we and these are just two of the ideas we can not profit we can celebrate the wilderness the dry um part of Wyoming and use it for our benefit so there you go I so those are two of my ideas I'm going to keep on having ideas one of the thing note I have lots of things but one I graduate I did join um 40 other states now of candidates throughout the state throughout all of the states and they're saying we need to get together and plan on three things uh term limits so these are all the candidates in the United States who are getting together and I'm going to be working with them and it'll be bipartisan so that we can make some

2:16:10changes on term limits on ethics on um all sorts of things so again like people say I can keep asking me and I'll go Lisa let me ask you uh one final thing in the you know back when you to a senator might be proposed to sell millions of acres of public land he a lot of huge backlash represent of Harriet Hageman uh back supported that effort and got a lot of backlash for it that's become a huge campaign issue now in the race for you as senate james bird is talking about that is that an issue for you against Chuck Gray in the house selling public land not now not ever maybe in the right circumstance where are you on that uh uh it's been my number one issue too I've been I've been talking about that forever there are two bills that I would want to to put in one is that you always hear public lands and public lands that was a bill that was put into the the state or into the um led as a bill and it never went anywhere so I'd get that bill I'd reintroduce

2:17:16it with people and then there's the integrity act on the public lands integrity act all three of our are represented voted against it so there are lots of things what public lands are our integrity there are life people use them all the time they hunt they fish they climb they snowmobile it's us and if we get rid of those public lands they're not coming back and that's why I get role exasperated because they're so important and they're thin something that has we have to keep along with our ranches that's what I'm throwing in I'm saying think in the future and that's what I'm thinking about ranches and making sure that we preserve some of those um anyway yes public lands is number one important too is to definitely put food on people's plates give them more to eat give them make their um health care cheaper make their housing affordable and then AI databases we've talked about that our next guest would like you when you're in congress to reduce that national debt as well we're on that it's like 40 trillion plus oh ten buckle beyond in a moment thank you

2:19:27three different presidents and the new book can I'm excited thanks for the little tease that you sent me wake up America I'll tell you some of my favorite parts about it but it looks really good thanks for being um thanks for having me appreciate it yeah um during the time uh three different presidents when you were in congress and they all you know each one had their own agenda but during that time you mentioned in your book there was one constant the idea that congress needs to do something and do in Washington means spend for the most part yeah and it's so interesting because I think part of the problem is uh we just don't teach our our students in school that there are different levels of government and different levels of government have different responsibilities and so people get into congress and it's the only

2:20:28level of government that doesn't have a balanced budget requirement and congress can spend uh just to solve every problem and if congress isn't solving a problem then they are doing nothing in people's view and of course solving problems means that we need to spend money on uh all kinds of projects that people want to see and and why is it so easy for elected to spend money well as uh can points out in the new book which uh we'll we'll let you know where to look for that how to get it wake up America uh americans like spent we like spending we do but uh for that you know it trickles into politics as well for that reason so do elected representatives Ken Buck writes spending money is how politicians show that they're doing something in Washington unfortunately that means action spending money you know bills that spend money mean our

2:21:29electives are doing something we got to get away from that kind of thinking we do and you know there's a lot of proposals out there but really it involves sending the right people to congress to do the right thing and uh at some point it's got to be a major issue and how people vote and and how they uh evaluate the candidates um every every purchase that we make at the grocery store buying a car buying a house all of it is impacted by our national debt now because our interest rates are going to keep climbing and it's a hidden uh uh you know poison that that we've inflicted upon ourselves but it's there uh also uh in this uh sample of book this teaser I got I I really like this and I I had I did not know this was a quote from New York City Mayor uh um mom dummy what and by the we were talking about New York City AG office earlier today with another

2:22:34guest there was some nonsense going on in there but I didn't know these words came out of the mayor's mouth I know you know he ran as sort of a desudo uh socialist it's not so pseudo here's a quote from the mayor that was elected by the majority of New York City it's it's this to those who insist the era of big government is over hear me when I say this no longer will city hall hesitate to use its power oh the power of government to improve New Yorkers lives we will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism otherwise known as Wyoming it's quite honestly with the warmth of collectivism that's scary stuff man is that really is that for real quote it's a for real quote and it did it blew up on on the internet you know uh social media um and he means every word of it

2:23:35and and he has hired people around him uh that have said things like you know the uh most important thing government does we wouldn't have government if we couldn't seize property and that's that's really what's uh fascinating is this idea that the people serve the government as opposed to the idea that uh you know with Wyomingites and others in this country live by and that is that the government serves the people um well uh Nicholas Maduro you you mentioned uh tried some socialism in Venezuela just days after mom dummy was uh uh put in office in New York City when you saw what happened in Maduro how did socialism work for him he learned everything he learned from Castro another failed leader socialism doesn't work does it can no it doesn't work and there's a long

2:24:35history of it failing and people point to places like Sweden and say well you know there's a kind their gentler socialism that we should look at Sweden actually had a system close to our social security system a public run pension system and they changed that they privatized their uh uh a pension system in Sweden and so uh you know the the socialist countries that people point to our countries that actually have gone more capitalist have gone more market approach and it clearly doesn't work and there's a long history of socialism not working yeah uh everybody sharing and sharing and sharing it all sounds good but the model in reality has not ever worked it's time to shatter the myth of socialism once and for all Ken Buck writes Ken what else is in this book I didn't you didn't tell me this book was coming did you or maybe I was a listening wake up

2:25:36America how long you've been working on this oh it's uh you know I've written four this is my fourth book and they're they're year long projects by the time you write an outline and submit it to a publisher and get it approved and then uh go through and um it it takes a year to get it done uh but yeah I uh what I do in the book is each chapter looks at a different area of our government K through 12 education higher education energy policy um different areas and and looks at how the left has spent money when in one of the great ones uh Jake is infrastructure everybody throws around the word infrastructure you know we need better infrastructure uh the reality is where the infrastructure is breaking down are in in these large blue cities the infrastructure for the federal government interstate highways bridges uh other areas is doing well and so when when we talk about uh infrastructure uh Joe Biden tried to throw every pet project he could into the infrastructure bill

2:26:42because people feel strongly about I want safe roads uh and so they the the words that the left uses to promote socialism or we have to be careful with because the infrastructure bill less than 10% less than 8% of the money in the infrastructure bill was spent on infrastructure the shiny bobbles promised by socialist democrats are they're easy to want to grab onto but uh careful with the strings attached and the money the money money money we're already what 40.1 trillion in counting right right all right uh anything else Ken no I appreciate it Jake I hope everybody uh uh has a chance to go to amazon or baronsinobl.com or some of the others and get the book and I uh uh will be in Wyoming a lot and if anybody sees me in a grocery store I'd be happy to sign a book any time. 2:31:04was like Sunday night football it was NBC with Trico and Collins word so the first the first three quarters I thought the patriots are unstoppable the the Seahawks lost their their their quarterback like six plays in the uh the the rhythm was all upset this guy named Drew Locke came in we haven't heard from him since what Mizzou back in 2020 I don't know um uh wow that fourth quarter the the patriots look I know it's one game and you shouldn't extrapolate off of one game but it was a bad Super Bowl that was a bad game and I don't care if you're a Seahawks fan or a Patriots fan it was just a bad game all around it really was and you know what I don't know the answer I don't have the answer because I'm not really sure why Drake May made that last play

2:32:11to basically lose the game I I don't know I don't know why you would call that play I don't know whether it's coaching I don't know whether it's players I don't know but what I do know is this gives your Buffalo bills and yes Broncos a better shot I was gonna say that as a bills fan I don't mind seeing the wheels come off of the patriots anytime Drake may admitted to running out of patience is what he said which is quarterback speak for I tried to force one in there and you know didn't work yeah and it truly is I mean there there really is no other uh my old sports director here in Cody said it so eloquently a chance bond there are only 32 people that have one job in the world and that's a starting quarterback in the NFL hmm all eyes are on you all you know the spotlight is not brighter except maybe you know like the president or the governor you know you know what I mean

2:33:13I mean I understand Drake may try to be the hero but sometimes it backfires what what what what happened to Russell Wilson the last time they were in the Super Bowl and he tried to force it in and some and no disrespect some no name guy from the patriots intercepted the ball game was over that was it Russell Wilson only wins one Super Bowl in his career not to so I understand what Drake may was saying is I kind of ran out of patience I forced it but man man I forced something in a newscast it just sounds a little weird you know you forced something well you know go to break no big deal we don't have millions of people watching you going what just happened you know so I mean I again it gives bills fans Broncos fans whomever a little more hope that it it's probably not could be the Patriots and it's probably not going to be the Seahawks this year especially if especially the Seahawks quarterback if he has more of more hit problems than just a weaker to rehab

2:34:17that could be a problem down the road yeah yeah I'm glad I couldn't find the game it didn't look like I know it was I mean it was pretty well if you're a Patriots fan it looked really good yeah like oh redemption all they're going to pull this off they look great they look and then the wheels just fell off in the fourth quarter and everything went against the Patriots and you're kind of thinking wait a minute there's a reason why you play 60 minutes there's a reason why you play the entire game you got to be strong if you're going to be strong in the first quarter you got to be strong in the fourth quarter you got to finish and that's what I try to tell my daughter all the time try you got to finish you know oh great you got a 50 on that one test well the final test you got to get you know a 60 or whatever you got to you got to finish strong you know hey speaking about my daughter tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of 9-11 and there are now two generations of people

2:35:17who have no idea what it was like okay so this so for you and I Jake this would be like our dad's talking about Vietnam or Korea you know yeah um I try to tell my daughter but I don't tell her everything it's just too hard I still don't like talking about it I still don't like remembering that day try to put it into context because if you if you are of a certain age and you don't remember 9-11 try try thinking about on a random Tuesday sunny skies not a problem in the world and you don't know what tomorrow looks like within an hour that's the only way I can describe it within an hour's time on a Tuesday morning you don't know what the rest of your life will look like you don't know what tomorrow will look like now try living through that for at least a week if not more

2:36:23back in 2001 in September so I just remember I was working in Texas I had no idea what was going on and I had just gotten my first talk radio gig too so I was hired in July and by September 11th I had been doing the job two months oh wow I had no idea who Al Qaeda was I had no idea I mean I had heard of Osama bin Laden because he goes all the way back to the Clinton days the Clinton presidency I don't know anything about what the hell is going on and what is happening with the World Trade Centers so we put it on you know we just literally put it up on the bird which is satellite we had ABC because we were in ABC news affiliate at that time we were in ABC news affiliate we played ABC news for at least a week 24 seven on the radio station because we did not know

2:37:24think about being in your office or think about being at your job and suddenly your boss and another manager comes screaming into your office going what the blank are we supposed to do and you have no idea because the president's ranch is six miles outside of town oh yeah he has just left Florida and nobody knows where he's going the entire town panicked for six hours until we found out where the president landed and that was off at Air Force Base up in the bread I'm pointing like I'm on a map he took off from so I'll do the the weatherman thing he took off from Florida refueled in Louisiana and then disappeared landing in off at Air Force Base not Texas but for those six hours I had a salesperson crying in my office I had the general manager screaming at me you're

2:38:31from Maryland don't you know anybody yes sure I know people at the DOD so I lied I said I'll make a couple of calls and basically I had a 50 50 shot of telling people something was going to happen buckle up or not and I I aired on the side of caution and said no he's not coming back here he's not landing in Waco to go out to his Crawford ranch and then the next day are we going to get hit again the next day is the president coming here is he going to bunker down here you know I can't how can I tell my daughter everything that happened I can't and then my sister her her husband was a firefighter in Montgomery County Maryland he had to go to the Pentagon for a week and clean up he still has PTSD from that he still can't talk about that and you know what I don't blame him I don't blame him you know I get it I get

2:39:37it so you know I just want people to remember tomorrow is not 11 it's the 25th anniversary in some respects though it was like it happened yesterday because there are just certain things certain periods of time certain things you go through in your life where it just takes you right back certain smells certain sounds somebody mentions a name and boom you are right back there so I mean don't get me wrong I love the people in Waco that I worked with I think they're great I won't go back there I don't you know I again it's too hard because again you go past that radio station and you're immediately taken back to September 11th September 12th September 13th on and on and on it changed everything but I can't tell my daughter that because she doesn't know you know what I mean she doesn't understand the impact that we used to be able to walk up to the gate and then say goodbye

2:40:41we could walk around an airport like we owned the damn place she doesn't get that she doesn't see that she didn't experience that you know I had somebody take my pocket knife that my grandfather that was my grandfather's and throwing the garbage like it meant nothing because it was considered a weapon and I couldn't do anything about it I mean just the oh god there's some and everybody has a story if you're over the age of 40 everybody has a story you know where you were bingo when you first heard about it you're taking right back to where you were right like when you heard Reagan was shot or John Lenin was killed or Kennedy was assassinated on and on you are immediately you knew where you were I was in Waco Texas looked up at the TV because at the time we had a small TV in the in the in the in the studio yeah and I did not know what to say about it went to news

2:41:42and then everything changed within a half hour yeah do you remember Mac being in in news and I was doing a talk show that morning on the radio do you remember that initial report that came out on the ticker was a small commuter plane hits the world like that was what we first heard right and well that was I think remember there was a Yankees player or former Yankees player that crashed his plane yes that's what I thought it was I thought it was another guy that had taken off at a T. Bill borrow airport yes in Jersey yeah and just wasn't a skilled pilot and crash the plane right no no when that's not a plane hit and and I swear to god when when if you were watching the TV and you watch this I audibly went what the yeah you audibly caught your breath I mean you physically

2:42:43had a reaction when you just saw this plane at a nowhere come in midsection of the of the second tower and just explode you're like what the yeah like like because we didn't know yeah we didn't know it was coming yeah and we're looking at the first hour burning our eyes are on that and on according your eye you see this plane similarly to the the other what that was when the I never thought of what it collapsed when I watch that fall right out of the picture like nobody prepared you for that they they had no structural engineers on previously to say you know what could happen right is we just keep burning and you're like I wonder if they can put that out how do you put out a fire that's in a high rise like I hope you know and those and yeah yeah then you're like nobody surviving that right there's no way there's no way so yeah I mean I just you know I try I try to just tell her a lot of people were panicked it was not a you know it was not a good time you know

3:04:55story of your life sort of kind of you to met at the cowboy slune and dance hall and that's just where the story barely begins you then purchase the cowboy slune and dance hall yep okay um so before we get there all right I'm gonna go back to the meeting date when when was this you had your first date of the cowboy slune's 18 plus night went oh how long ago was this because you look it looked like it was a month ago with a judge from the you two it was 26 years ago we met each other before but our first date was at the cowboy so on 18 plus night so we're both from carbon county and so we vaguely knew each other there but um yeah we're not a date

3:05:56and the rest is history so the 18 plus night continues by the way um yeah a tradition that continues some other things don't continue like some menu items that have been changed up trim down by Trinity and Trevor so you met uh uh your first date was at this place then how long after did the first date turn into marriage uh within year and a half yeah two years something like that yeah we had we had our babies young and then love layer me and we just stayed here now I would have thought from just reading the headline and the subhead of the renaging story that you you had your first date there you got married and then for nostalgia's sake you took a leap of faith and and bought the bar but you were on a path of real estate mogul I mean tell me how that started like

3:07:00you were just I don't know if you were just fine you all along the way I think you mentioned the story that you knew the next real estate venture was right if you were scared to death to do it like that's right perfect advice from the thatchers so how did you get started what was the first one like you well we were only 20 and we bought a duplex so that half of it could pair mortgage basically and then I think it was a year and a half later the house down the street was for sale and we thought there's no way we could do that right could we so we met with our lender she said no problem let's just take that equity out of your courthouse we'll use it to purchase the new one and then that's just kind of how it snowball we've always just pulled equity from one property and got the next but bar life was never really on the table this was like you know more of a midlife crisis type

3:08:00like adventure but it's been the biggest blessing so yeah Trevor you're supposed to buy a sports car and Trinity I don't know what you do but you bought a bar oh my at a time when people aren't going to bar oh well people aren't drinking anyway um that's the right right that's it oh my goodness and not not that that is the main reason to go to bar I mean you too are I think you said you weren't big drinkers but um yeah that's not the motivation to buy a bar or even go to a bar and you know may it's me it's sort of working out we saw the outlaw clothes I mean you've had and you're still there cowboy slune is there how are you pitching it is it I know you'll have mocktails how do you get people to come to a bar in an age where we're not drinking as much yeah that that's been the biggest challenge we would love to be able to celebrate people not drinking but we own a bar

3:09:01yeah really celebrate it very much so we're trying to focus on the live music and the private like the private event things so we've had Christmas parties we've had just all kinds of employee parties whyotech has been so supportive of us and they book us off in for their employees so those things have really saved us right now so I feel like it might be coming back um last night was a beautiful night if anyone is watching please check out our social media from last night we had a sweet kid ask is there anyway if we could just stop this whole thing we're at capacity and he said can I sing the star spagel banner and so we made it happen usually we don't try to do that because then everyone wants to do something but this kid was so polite and so kind and we're like let's do it and the whole place just stopped every kid in their six hundred or five hundred sixty kids singing together it was beautiful no way it was so cute you got to see it I love when those organic type

3:10:04moments happen where it's just magic you couldn't have planned it it just comes like wait I'm want to find that it's on your social is on the yeah the Facebook's yeah that is so good wait how many people did you say we're in there five hundred sixty we hit capacity by nine fifteen that's huge yeah then we did one out one in and the line went down the street to the alley so is it like that a lot that is gigantic Wednesday just Wednesday well it hadn't been so far but the first semester where we've actually had a line out the door and they'll just wait all night to get in it's been pretty amazing holy macro and they say people aren't going to drink it or going to bars huh I don't know about that yeah there is no alcohol on the saloon side on Wednesdays so they can drink at our small bar and that that side was really really busy too so it was just a really good night like a wholesome great night and we just left so happy it's just such a good night

3:11:07I love that um here it is all right I'm gonna I found it this guy this kid looks familiar um I had never met him this is the first time I had met him really so okay let me this happened just last night at the cowboy salooned dance hall is crazy um I mean it is a song everybody knows the words too you would assume and of course as soon as it ends somebody's got a yellow play ball so you were um you were there are you there like pretty much every night as bar owners you don't

3:12:08have to be there we'll talk about the staff we got to give them a shout out but are you there pretty much every night we are we have a lot to learn about owning a bar so we're putting as many hours as we can just just to learn what we need to know right I'm the job training yeah you got to know what's going down so when you when you bought it you know what changes immediately did you make what I mean knowing nothing you're like holy crap we bought a bar um how do we keep it alive and how do we make it better our new baby what what are some of the first things you learned the the hard way the easy way of what what are some of the changes right off so the first thing we did was just focus on the facilities we just we we completely gutted the bathrooms um and of course once we got the walls open that led to repelming rewiring and then you know we got those all put back together and it's the bathroom changes kind of amazing but like overall we want to try and modernize the bar without taking away that old country feel so modernizing it without taking away

3:13:12the salt has always been kind of the balance of all the renovations we're trying to do yeah I hear that a lot um with bars or with anything when people buy something old and historic um they want to keep what made it great and keep that old an old feel an old western feel but you do have to make sure the thing doesn't fall down right and you know what you know what gets sometimes the gets you five star reviews on yelp or whatever and gets you one star reviews faster never if you're a restaurant or a bar it's not the food the drinks the vibe it's the bathrooms um you gotta make the bathrooms nice good so you you're learning you know what to do they were really bad they were really rough so they're so pretty now so we're really proud of those oh wow there's still a lot of things we want to do so our stage is kind of a smaller stage and if we want to keep getting these big acts in we know we're gonna have to redo the stage at some point um

3:14:17the green room we want to make that better for the talent we want them to have like a washer and dryer back there in a shower so we have big plans but we'll see how the next gear two goes once seven to ten yeah I don't know the space like give me an idea of how big it it can fit five six hundred people so it's pretty big the buildings right around ten thousand square feet okay um the dance hallside is probably right around six thousand and most of that is the dance floor there's a small kind of section in the in the back room that you can use for green room and storage but the main dance hallside right around six thousand square feet and it's all live edge slab wood and logs and it's it's pretty amazing it's it's kind of like what all the bars did Nashville wish they were nice all right so a building a building a structure is just a building a building is just a building it's the people that that are gonna make it um who when you when you when you took over what was

3:15:22the staff were the people and what is it now I know the staff you went from like five regular bar tenders to a staff now of uh way more than thirty five like who's working there where do you find your employees and in age where nobody wants to work anymore well that that's been a blessing because we are constantly getting emails I think they see it's pretty fun and so having employees actually hasn't been a problem um we had an amazing manager when we started and she let us know from the get go you know about a year it's all I kind of got left and she got married and we're super excited for her so I let I just left my real job last Monday was my last day so I can really dive in and focus on the bar um and then we have a lot of UW wrestlers as bouncers um we have I just I don't even I can't even explain our crew right now they are the best crew like we leave feeling

3:16:25so happy and so proud of them and even last night we didn't have to bounce quite a few people um they all handled it really well and actually everyone that got bounced it too they're like yeah you're right I was out of line have a good night see you next week and so everyone was really great on our staff they're just the best we're so proud of them yeah and no shame being on the wrong end of a UW wrestler a lot of CS you know there's been a that's a long list of people who have lost who've been pinned by a UW wrestler smart move um wow it's so cool I make say what's the deal with the Ian Munsick I'm going to share this photo here uh you know if he in stops by you've made the scene I think that was all her well he's just got a really great team I had reached out last year and we didn't think anything had happened and then we get an email saying hey the summer and they said hey guess what we're gonna bring him and he's gonna do a free

3:17:31uh show album release for you and so we were kind of there was a small group of people that knew he was actually coming you know a lot of people thought it was like an album release and so Ryan Charles was the host and he just crushed it he's actually coming but Ryan Charles coming back tomorrow night and um Ian Munsick just he just is a wonderful person it was just like a little pit stop between a couple of his two or stops just uh you know come check the place out come you know tell his stories and you know just have his presence be there and it was it was amazing that he did that for us it was one of the highlights for sure for sure well they had their first date there now they own the joint Trinity and Trevor that you're so cool uh thanks for coming out what's what's the plans I mean you're real estate stuff you just keep going up and up and up what are you gonna buy next story you're gonna concentrate on the Cowboys saloon and dance hall for a little while
