早年為了推廣台噢，我曾經在學校開了一門台語選修課，一開始為了親近學生，我喊學生名字時都會加上阿，沒想到遭到學生抗議，他們覺得加上阿字的名字太老土俗氣，請我不要這樣稱呼他們，過去大家對台語覺得俗氣就是從這個啊開始，殊不知阿是祝福的發語詞，後來在成大語言中心時，教過一些學台語的外國學生，第一節課我都會先幫他們取臺灣名字，也一定會加阿，不但親切也好叫，所以我們如果了解語詞的本身，我們就不會有誤解和偏見。
