35. Making Peace with What's Not Getting Done

About this episode

We talk a lot about doing more of what matters in our planning. We look at what we have the capacity for, and we improve the way we do things. But what we omit during planning is looking at the things not getting done. Today's episode is about finding peace with the things we aren't doing. It's just as important to recognize them as the things we are getting done.

I'll cover the two ways we don't get things done: on purpose and off purpose. On purpose is what we are choosing not to do. That entails intentionality and deliberate choices. Off purpose is when those things slip through the cracks, get buried, or we simply don't have the time or capacity to complete them.

I encourage you to start making more margin and space to do what matters, which means we can look at what we haven't gotten done with some grace and perspective to make peace with it all. It doesn't mean we are good with not getting things done; it just means we're more present and grounded in the things we are getting done.

Our FREE Set the Tone Workbook can help you navigate the practice of spending time on what matters. It is linked below! Take a look at everything on your plate and spend time doing, delegating, deferring, or dismissing.
