Our three stars of the game from last night's matchup from the Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings is proof that it doesn't always have to be players who make the list. So let's talk about our three stars of last night. Your Lockdown Avalanche, your daily podcast on the Colorado Avalanche, part of the Lockdown Avalanche podcast network, your team every day. All right, everybody, special mini episode that we have kind of just unveiled. This is our second time doing our three stars of the game. So a quick nice little segment, extra segment bonus segment for everybody where we just talk about our three stars of the game from last night's game from the Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings. And like I said in the intro, doesn't always have to be a player. So we're not going to wait around for this no long intro. We just dive right into these.

And that's exactly where we're going to start with this one, Zach. If you're watching over on YouTube, your number, your number three star of the game is the rest. That's picture I could find of a ref. It was blurry. But I also don't want to give them high death. They'll deserve high death. Yeah. You noticed that the colors are oddly similar. I think they got a little confused during that game and weren't sure what they were supposed to be doing. So and we talked about this when we were saying like who sure are three stars be, we were going to throw them on there if the Avalanche lost this game. No doubt about it. And then I was like, well, maybe we should still throw them on anyway because maybe that was motivation for the apps. Right. So they, you know, the Kings came back after that. But still, I've, you know, just to go over the play again, obviously, they blew the whistle way too quickly.

Golly thought he had the puck if it scoots off to his left a little bit. Martin H. is there and puts it home should have counted as a goal because the, the whistle blue cannot overturn it, can't review it, can't do anything. Your hands are tied. And I've never seen that's about as animated as I think Jared Bednar can get on the bench. Yeah. He was worked up for sure. I would like to throw this out here. I don't disagree with the reasoning being once the whistles blown, then the plays over and you can't go back and recount it because if you say that, then guys are going to play past the whistle. And that's the whole point of what the whistle is. So that part of it totally makes sense. That being said, I've watched goal tenders from all 32 teams and club teams and AHL teams sit there with a puck completely underneath them, covered up entirely and frozen and no whistle for what feels like an eternity right.

And this whistle was the instant it touched, I can't even think of the goal tenders name. The instant it touched his armpit, that whistle was blown. Yeah. It's like, that's too quick. That's why Big Brother Anton Forrest Breaks. Of course. Thank you. Yeah. It was super quick. And I know he's on where the puck fell was on his left side, ref was on his right side. Yeah. I get it, but it was almost instantaneous. It was like, bam, bam. You know, who really should have got the third star here is Mojure and Riker because their composure in not being angry at the officials through this is way better than I could have done. So we were talking on our discord channel, uh, join the every day or club if you want to get down on that, uh, and we were kind of, I get what you're saying and I agree with that. But we were like, they're being too nice. I can't believe they're not, their, their lids aren't blown off of this thing, but you're right. You're right. So I, I get it. But when you're on this side of that call,

that is, that's horrible. And like I said, if the apps had lost this, they would have absolutely been on on this list for other reasons. But hey, you never know, maybe you did motivate them. Martin, Martin, it's the, the empty netter that kind of gets the gold back at the end anyway. So all right. Yeah. We're good. We're good. We're good. Number two star for this game. We're giving it to Brett Burns. I thought Burns had a, uh, uh, uh, sneakily good game in this one. And when you're top guys forwards and top pairing to, uh, defensemen are really just controlling this game. Some of the other guys that have good solid games kind of gets like swallowed up. And I thought that was, uh, for Brent Burns. He's put together some pretty solid games since coming back from the break. Um, and I thought this was, was definitely one of them. I liked his game this one. I agree. I think his defensively, he was very sound. He was in good position. He was in like defending it different of the avalanche net through the whole game. I thought very well.

Backchecking, but also the biggest thing for me is the, um, individual coursey four events on natural statric. Um, Burns is number two tied, but he is number two on the team for individual coursey four, only behind Nathan McKinnon. So like that, and his mentality has been shoot the puck for the whole time he's been on the avalanche and from, it's clearly carried over. He's done a great job. So I'm not surprised to see that much, but eight coursey four for Brent Burns. So awesome game from him. Yeah, uh, for Burns, you know, the numbers are good for coursey four, uh, 26 against of 11. So, um, I think he had, you see, Heidner chances five, uh, in all situations. I think he

had, what do you have? Like eight, I think at eight shots, a shot attempts. Um, so he, he was, he was firing at will on the offensive side of things. So, um, yeah, really, really, really, I like I said so many times on previous episodes. It's just the puck just comes off this guy's stick differently for some reason. I just, I just like watching him shoot. So, um, yeah, so good game all around for Brent Burns. Um, why don't we, we're gonna, we're gonna do one little break here and then we'll get to our number one star and we threw this up to the subtext people too. So, uh, let's do that. We did a quick break in, get our number one star and hear from the subtext group. We're gonna hear from indeed. As you can see, number one stars plural of the game because we're going with that entire first line. Let me remove the Brent Burns one. There it is. The top line, everybody gets

get first star from us because that line was crazy. It was it was a and I talked about this on the stat cast. A course before of 30 for those guys 30 and against of 11. That's wild. They I'll everyone and you can, you know, the martin natious goal taken away, but he does get the empty netter. You know, you had Nathan McKinnon scoring game. Landiscocks scoring. So they were just not going to be denied in this game. And to give it to just one of them just didn't seem right. So the whole top line gets it. Yeah. I mean, those three guys, you could almost even pull the defensive pairing in and just go with the top five players for this number one star for this game because Kale and Taze had a great game as well. But these three in particular, like you said, landing gets a goal. McKinnon gets a goal. natious gets the empty netter. But you know what

else they got a power play goal. Now it was an empty netter power play goal. But maybe that's the key to getting the power play kick started for the avalanche is an empty net power play goal. I will take it. I love it. This was, but this was they played such a good game. It was Chris passes. It was fast movement. It was everything that you want out of your top three players. So I think you're more than deserving. All three of them split this first star. An empty net power play goal could be the bunch that keep referencing. So over on hockey stat cards, your top guys and your top pairing, like again, they care, your top five carried it. Yep. Martin natious with a game score of 5.7. Nathan McKinnon, 5.17. Gabe Lannescock, 4.52. If you want to go to defensive side, Kale McCarr, 5.04. Devon Taze, 4.11. Three guys with a game

score over 5, which is exceptional. And I said it on the stat cast again, the top guys, top forwards in your defensive bearing. We're basically like, all right, enough's enough. We've been back from break long enough. Let's let's take things over. And the score was maybe a little closer through a lot of this game than you wanted it to be. But yeah, those guys like they definitely took control of the game on a battered Kings team icing three first game players last night. And I mean, I thought they did exactly what you need those guys to do. So more than well deserved. Excellent game from those guys. Agreed. All right. So we're going to wrap things up with our every day or subtext crew. They had some first stars. And this was a late game for people. We have a lot of people on the East Coast. So didn't get as many responses that we would have,

but we got some. Adam, his three stars, number one, Nathan McKinnon, number two, Martin H.S., and number three. And I give Adam some credit here. Anton Forzbury. Fair. Yeah. I thought he was going to kept them in it. Yeah, if you're going to take the three stars seriously and not give it to a referee, then yeah, Forzbury. Fair. Three star. Let's see. We got Madam Battle Axe here. No, yes, Madam Battle. Sorry. Gabe Landiskog is number three. Devon Taves for number two. And their number one star, Parker Kelly. Okay. I mean, I thought I had a fine game when I gave him a number one star. I don't know about that, but I thought he was fine. Yeah, I thought he did all right. But interestingly enough, Matt, number three star, Mackenzie Blackwood, number two, Devon Taves, same number one star, Parker Kelly. Really? Yeah.

So yeah, I'm hearing multiple subtexters giving Parker Kelly some sort of, nothing against it. No, no problem with it. I'm curious what you guys saw that made you elevate him to first star. I like it. Trust me, not arguing, but I am. And I saved this for last. This is not a subtext thing. Usually we're going to start with what the actual three stars were, like the official three stars. Yeah. Number three, Devon Taves, number two, Nathan McKinnon, number one, Anton Forzbury. They all, the image, but this is where I like, that is Vegas level of petty right there. Vegas does it all the time, all the time. They put their players at number one in losses. Anton Forzbury was good. If you are telling me, he was better than pick one of those three guys on the top pairing on the top line that were, that he was better than like stuff like that drives me crazy. It's just, it's, it's home rhythm

to the nth degree and put Forzbury on there. Give him the second star for all I care. But I feel like the first star is designed for the winning team. I'll say 90 times out of 100, 95 times out of 100. Right. But come on, come on. Really like the only losing effort MVP, you get is Connor McDavid, sorry, Connor McDavid, but you had an awesome series and playoffs and your team lost. You deserved the MVP. Anton Forzbury, you had a great game. It was not Connor McDavid through the playoffs level of great game. So yeah, that's that's why I didn't even see that. I did not see that. I know three stars is a trivial thing, but when teams do that, drives me up a wall. Yeah, that's crazy. He had a good game too. Sure I did. All right, so that's going to be it for our three stars of the game. What do you think?

Comment down below. And of course, we will do this for the next game, which is right around the corner against the Anaheim ducks. So all right, that's Zach Pearson. I am Chris Macelli. It's locked on avalanche podcast. Thanks for tuning in to the special three stars of the game. We'll see you guys later. Go, let's go.
