We're going to discuss today about the Prophets, Allah, Hala, and Salam, 24 hour routine. So we've got various Ahadis describing how the Prophets, Allah, and went through his 24 hours. And this is like a common day. A day when he would be in Medina, Muna, Wada, a day when he would be kind of relaxed, not having intention of going to defend the city or something. So the first and foremost thing is that the Prophets, Allah, has gotten many descriptions in the Ahadith. And these are from good sources, good narrations with good chains. There are people who kind of find this way like, how do you describe the Prophets, Allah, and so on. Sahaba had a challenge between them and that they would try and describe the Prophets, Allah, and Salam. So just to go through some of the features of the Prophets, Allah, and to get yourself in a mold of knowing who the Prophets, Allah, and so on, knowing how he looked like, because if you are able to ever see him in green, so Allah, then you've actually seen him. Now, Shaytan can't take his form in a dream, but what Shaytan can do is to, you know, be in someone else's form and claim that he's the Prophet.
He can do that, but he can't actually take the form of how the Prophets and some looked. That's what the Ahadith of Bukhari means. When he says that Shaytan can't take the form of the Prophets and Allah, it means that he can't take the actual form of the Prophets and Allah, and claim to be the Prophets and Allah. This Allah hasn't allowed him to do in a dream. So how do the Prophets and Allah, Ahadith, and look? Well, in the Ahadith, he's been described that his hair was black. Okay, there's a darkness to his hair. A beautiful dark, sort of shiny black that the Prophets and Allah, because he used to apply oil and perfect to his head. And he used to have a party in the middle, okay, both his hair would go towards two sides, and then they would flip over his ear, and then they would be either up to his ear lobe, or coming up to his shoulder blade, or going all the way up to the end of his shoulder. These are three different lengths, the Prophets and Allah has kept it that. And of course, when he used to perform Ahmura, then the Prophets and Allah would shave his head.
And his hair only had 17 white hairs near the end of his life. And even though 17 white hairs were white, because of Surah Watiha being revealed, or Surah Houd being revealed. So that's what made, because of the punishment that was described in there. That's what made the Prophets and Allah's head turn 17, or his hair turned white. Otherwise, it was all dark and black and he looked young, even at old age, Surah Al-Alai Lallahi. The Prophets and Allah has had a broad forehead, where he had also a vein in the middle that would swell, when he saw Allah has become angry. And Abu Huraywadi Allah, he describes that as if two pomegranates were squeezed into the cheeks of the Prophets and Allah has seen when he became angry. His eyes were white, okay, and they had dark pupils. And the Prophets and Allah had lovely eyelashes long eyelashes. He had his eyebrows did not meet in the middle, but they were just nicely shaped, okay.
And his nose had a slight bridge at the top of it. And the Prophets and Allah, Houday Sallam, his mouth, they say, was a white mouth, when he used to smile. You could see his teeth as if they were shining pearls, okay. When he would speak, he would speak in a way that people would understand him easily. And he would speak sometimes in three times, he would repeat the phrases so that his ummah would understand or his community would understand him. Rasulullah, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, he had a beard, that was a large beard, it was a thick beard. It was a whole fist full of what his hand could take. And his beard was something which you couldn't see through, okay. He had, he used to have mustache that was trimmed, okay. That was another feature. And Rasulullah, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, his shoulders used to be broad. The joints of his shoulders, the joints of his elbows, the joints of his knees were broad, showing the great courage that the Prophets and Allah has him had.
He, he, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had barely any hair on his chest except for a thin line of hair that went straight down the middle all the way to his belly button. On the back of his, you know, on his back, between his two shoulder blades, there was a lump and on that lump there was some hair. And they say that this is the seal of Prophet Prophethood, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. And when he would walk, he would walk very briskly, he would walk as if he's coming down from a, from a hilltop, okay. So his, his feet would glide inside as he would walk. He wouldn't slide his feet, but he would walk in a way that Rasulullah, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was like, he was like an emission. Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had a difficult time catching up with him sometimes when he was walking, you know, in his, in his brisk walk. Otherwise, Rasulullah, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, when he would walk with Saha'ba after Asal, then he would sometimes, you know, relax and walk. And they would, you know, he would be in the middle of the Saha'ba. So that was more of a relaxed walk that he had, but when he was, you know, when he was going somewhere, he was like, he's, he's an emission.
So he said, he was a man. Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam of great power and great courage. In fact, Allah gave him a lot of power on this earth. He had like the power of a hundred men. Alayhi sallallahu wa sallam. So anyway, Rasulullah, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, you can imagine, Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam early in the morning. What would you do early in the morning? Well, his house is okay. So, so let's get a quick description of his house. So one of his houses of, you know, where he was with his wife. And so he had, at one point in his life, he had nine of his wives alive. So, Allah, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, and he would rotate his nights between the different wives. And imagine that he was in one of his wives. He would wake up early in the morning. Now, this would be like middle of the night or he would be just a third of the night gone in. The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam would wake up and the straight way immediately, immediately what he did is that he sat up. And he read the dua'as.
Like Alhamdulillah, who is the Lord of the Lord of the worlds, who is the Lord of the worlds, who is the Lord of the worlds. And he had a number of dua'as that he would recite. One of those parts of the Quran that he recited was in Surah Al-Alamran. Surah No. 3, I. No. 1 and 0. Inna fi Haltas Samarwati wa l-Ardi wa Khuddi La ilaifin La ili wa Nahril La Ayatidu Lil Al-Bab. Those ayats he would read, you know, quite a few of those ayats he would read early in the morning, reminding himself about the beautiful nature of what Allah Azza wa Jalla has created in the heavens and the earth. And all of that leads to one, one, the only thing which is Allah created for our purpose. And the purpose is that all this around us is for the human being and the human being is there to serve Allah Azza wa Jalla. And then he would get up, he would take his miswak, I mean, he would take his water with him to relieve himself. Abdullah bin Abbas, Abdullah, who on whom I once when he was with the Prophet Allah, was in him. On certain nights, Abdullah bin Abbas would go and stay with his auntie, Mehmuna.
And then he would wait for the Prophet Allah, to get up in the night and Abdullah bin Abbas, a young Sahab, he would be ready with the miswak and with the water of the Prophet Allah, helping him, you know, take that. So the Prophet Allah would go out and he would relieve himself and when he comes back, he would perform his wudu. And once he performed his wudu, then he would come inside and he would now start his rakats and he would start his prayer. Now one of the unique things about the Prophet Allah has been lighted prayer is that he used to pray in darkness. There's no there's there's barely any light. We know this from, and sometimes there might have been a little bit of light, but he did prefer to be in the dark and pray. And it's a wonderful thing if you can develop that and pray in the night, it's a beautiful thing just to be with Allah as though you and Allah is known. No one watching you know and can even see you. Okay, how do we know this? I shall be Allah on one of her nights. She looked on her side to see where the Prophet Allah has sent him. And then she crawled inside the mosque, she went inside the mosque, she crawled with all the falls,
looked patting around looking for the Prophet Allah, and then her hand fell onto the soul of the foot of the Prophet Allah. He was in such a high praise and then when the Prophet Allah finished his salam, that's when he turned around and said, Oh, I should you think that on your night I would go to one of the other wives. Now what we get from this hadith is that how dark it was for I shall be Allah on her to be on her, all her falls. And then to pat around and then and then said for the Prophet Allah, I shall be honest. We do have another narration where Abdullah bin Abbas, who was the Allah on whom he stands on the left hand side of the Prophet Allah, I shall be honest and the Prophet Allah, from then takes his hand to all around and then grabs Abdullah bin Abbas with the Allah and then he moves him around all the way to his right side and makes him stand there for the hadjud. So we have the narration as well whether there was a bit of light or not, whether he knew that the Prophet was grabbed him by his other hand, not his immediate left hand but by his right hand all around and then moved him towards the right hand side. We don't know. Anyway, the Prophet was not start his the hadjud. Now his the hadjud was a time if you look at Surah Muzaam in Allah says,
the 73rd Surah of the Quran tells us how Allah tells him to stand for the night except for the level of the sustanum as much as you can, except for a little bit. And Allah says, okay, half of the night. So if the Prophet Allah sometimes he had so many duties in the daytime that he was more tired that night, then Allah says, okay, this is for who you can stand half of the night. I will not be able to say that, or you could drop it a little bit and stand for less than half of the night. Now that's what he was. The Prophet was stood and stood and stood and stood till it was near Fajr, or till he's you know, I mean his feet used to swell, so Allah had a send him. And he said to Ayatul Abil Allah on her, this was because he wanted to show Allah how much of a grateful, wonderful and grateful servant of thankful servant he is to Allah Azra. I am then Shakur. I very, very thankful servant to Allah.
And this was his way of showing thanks to Allah Azra. Okay, one who knows the sweetness of how to worship Allah, this is how we show thanks to Allah Azra. It's something to do with belief. People who haven't experienced this, they kind of think this is kind of extreme. But this is the real essence of showing Allah Azra just gratitude. So imagine the Prophet says, what does he do? And he prays his ayats really slowly, steadily Allah told him to recite Maudatilil Kura'an, Tartilah. To recite the Kura'an in Tartil. What is Tartil? Tartil is to recite the Kura'an so slow that you can actually count the letters. Subhanallah. So if I give an example of the Nostra, I leave the Nostra. I leave the Nostra. I leave the Nostra. I leave the Nostra.
That's how slow it would have had to be for the Prophet's Al-Azam to recite. In a way that you can count the letters that he's reciting. And the Prophet Allah said in one Hadith he says, He was with the Prophet Allah and he joined him for the Hadith and he says, He read the Holy Quran in one rakhan. Imagine this is like a sixth of the Kura'an. One sixth of the Kura'an is like five Jews of the Kura'an. The Prophet Allah is reciting in just one rakhan. Allah gave him a lot of blessings in time. And then his Ruku would be the same as his standing and the length of that would be same as standing. And Sujood would be same as his Ruku. That's how the Sahab described it. Now there's immense sort of Baraka and blessings Allah gave to the Prophet Allah. Otherwise a normal person with that kind of speed, with this many, just to do, it's almost impossible. So this is Baraka.
Allah gives blessings in time, in the time of a person who's constantly invigated. And if you haven't experienced this, you shouldn't just deny this. So the Prophet Allah said, then he reads the Hadith and his standing, standing in the Ruku and Sujood, very long, long, lengthy ones until it comes all the way to Fajr. Now when it comes to near Fajr, the Prophet Allah finishes off with his witter at the last part of his night. He waits, okay? And then when Bilal al-Alaqilullah has given the advance, the Prophet Allah then prays two rakats, Sunnah, Fajr prayers, and he would pray that at home, then he would come inside the masjid and what he would do is that he would lie down on his right hand side, because now he's very tired of spending such a long time. But he enjoyed it, thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it, okay? And he even said this in various Hadiths of how his closeness was closer than Gibri'at Al-Islam, in the night times when he used to get to pray and in his loneliness, okay?
So anyway, he'd lie down, so how about the Allah Allah, on my mind? They come to the masjid, they probably bought the lanterns or other things to try and get inside the masjid. When they come inside the masjid, they're waiting for the Prophet Allah, so they'll get up and pray. And then he gets up, when he's seen that they pray the Sunnah, he gets up, he leads the Fajr prayers, and it would have been the most beautiful prayer ever, because when he used to recite, even his enemies were mesmerized, okay? His enemies would stop in their tracks, and they would just, haven't you just listened to him and listened to him and listen to him? These are his arch enemies that were mesmerized by his frustration. So when he would finish, what would he do in Fajr prayers? Fajr prayers, they say, what was about like 50 Ayats, okay? 50 Ayats in his Fajr prayer. I only finished, he would say, Salam, he would turn around, and then the Prophet Allah would do Zikr of Subhan Allah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, the Allah would go either 33 or 34 times, okay? And then the Prophet Allah would ask a question. His question would be, you know, his face in the Sahaba,
and his question would be, who's seen a dream? So this was the time when he used to ask about whether they've seen a dream, and sometimes he would talk about his own dream, that he's seen, and he would interpret to anyone's dream that they've seen, or his own dream, and then Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam would maybe give some advice, and by this time, what would have happened is that the Suns already risen, and Rasulullah, for Allah, for the Sun, then after the Sun has risen, I don't forget, they've done the Salat with Jamah, they've stayed in this place, they've just remembered Allah, until it's come to this time after the Sunrise, the Prophet Allah would then pray two records of prayer. Now, this is a special prayer, and you know, Hadith, he says, who's so ever can pray two records? If they've done Jamah with Fajr, and then you stay in your place, and then you wait for the Sun to rise, and then you do two records, then Allah's would then give the reward of a hunch that is accepted, accepted, Rasulullah repeated twice, tamma, tamma, tamma, he said, accepted, accepted, accepted.
And this is in the Sahih Hadith. So he would pray that, and then he would go into his quarters. When Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam would go to his quarters, I'd say he's going to Aishah of the Allah on his house, and the thing is he would make it noticeable that he's coming inside. That's one of the things that he would say, Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa rehi'atuhu. First, he would be the first to say, even the young children could not beat him, giving him salam. First, he said, Allah, Hasan would beat anyone, that beat the first to be the salam. And that is a wonderful sign of anyone who's close to Allah. Anyone who you think is a wali or Allah who's close to Allah, they would normally be the first to give you salam. And you'll notice this about people who are close to Allah, they will always beat you in giving you salam. Anyway, Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam would then pick Aishah of the Allah on the cheek with the kids. And then he would ask, how are you, and so on, and how's your day? And just ask nicely how things are. And then this is the time, by this time, you know,
in kind of Saudi Arabia time, or the hijaz time by now, it would have been early morning, maybe it's kind of, you know, seven o'clock, seven, seven, thirty, we don't know. The Prophet of Allah is now in his private zone. Okay? So, whatever he's doing, he might be relieving self, he might be doing whatever. But don't forget, he was in constant vicar. Aishah of the Allah, and as he says, that he was in vicar in every single moment of his 24 hours. Except for the time that he used to relieve himself. And if you notice, when we relieve ourselves, when we come out with the first words, we say, is, wafrua anak, pardon me, my Lord. Why are we saying pardon me, my Lord? Because this is the only time when you can't actually do the rica of Allah. Otherwise, the Prophet of Allah is in 24 hours, even when he was in his sleep. So, Allah has not lagging in the special quality to remember Allah while he was asleep. So, Rasulullah, Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, then now he was in his private time. And then, at about mid-morning time,
this could be around 9.30, it could be around 10 o'clock, because then we used to have clocks at that time. The Prophet of Allah would come out, and then he would come to the masjid. And this is when the halakas and there's many different circles that were already in the masjid. And these were halakas of what? Halakas of remembering Allah, halakas of how they came to Islam, halakas of the jweed of learning the Qur'an, halakah or a circle of newly revealed ayats, halakah or a circle of something that the Prophet of Allah taught, some ayats and remembering the Qur'an, and these were things that the Prophet of Allah had stationed inside the masjid. And these were Sahaba who had given up their lives, given up the opportunity to make business and so on. And they used to stay in the back of the courtyard of the masjid where there was a veranda, under their days to stay. And these were known as the Ashab Sufah. So, around mid-morning, these two come inside the masjid and these two halakas and the Prophet of Allah, and would teach them. Sometimes he would spend some time here giving them some advice. And sometimes what he would do is that he would get up and with al-Waqarudu Allah,
on all the different sahabi, he would make his visits. This is the time when he would probably go and see a person who's sick, who's ill and make his certain visits if he was to make a visit at this time. Anyway, if it was summertime, then the Prophet of Allah would delay the whole. And if it was wintertime, the Prophet of Allah would pray in the whole little early. Why? Because of the heat. He didn't want the sahab to come out and such heat. Don't forget that the masjid of the Prophet of Allah has patched roofs with palm fibers. So, they used to be, you know, a rain that used to fall inside the masjid. And they used to be heat that would come directly inside the masjid. So, the Prophet of Allah, and he would come off of the door, he would leave his door, and after the door again, he would be back in his quarters. Sometimes, very rarely he would give, you know, a reminder after the door, but he would probably be in his quarters. And he would be in his sort of private time all the way till it comes to the asal time.
Now, when asal time would come, the Prophet of Allah would lead the prayers. And there's a number of things he would do. There's about three different things that come in the generations of what Prophet of Allah would do. One of the things he would do is he would do this regularly. That because he had a few wives, he would gather in the house of that one wife, and all the other wives would come to that house, and he would see all of his wives at this moment. And he would listen to them, and he would listen to what their needs are, and if they needed something, he would go and get it if you had to. And, you know, this was the time when he actually saw all of his wives, I mean, regular basis after Asal. Now, otherwise, he would have spent his 24 hours with that one particular wife. And then the Prophet of Allah would spend time with his Sahaba, or the Allah Hanumah, by going out and going for a walk. This is the time when they were able to spend some time outside of the masjid with the Prophet of Allah. In a walk where he would be in the middle, and he would walk, you know, nice, in a gentle manner with them where they would nest some of them on the forehead,
and he would spend some time with them. Sometimes he would describe that he would go after Asal into a garden. There was a garden immediately in front of the masjid where one of the Sahaba he had donated it, and the Prophet of Allah would go in there. He had four walls, he had a lot of greenness in there, he had some spring of water in there. And the Prophet of Allah would often go inside, they sit there, he would do the dhikr of Allah, and he would be in reflection, and he would remember Allah as well. And sometimes, the Prophet of Allah at this moment, he went to the market places, and he would go there, and he would see how the Sahaba of the Allah Hanumah would remind their dealing with their goods. And if you saw something where, for example, if you saw that a Sahabi is sort of, not dealing with, not dealing fairly, or with honesty, the Nasuri Allah, from Surna was not too immediately speaking to that Sahabi in that place. He would wait for the Sahaba to come to the masjid, wait for that individual to be in the masjid as well, and then he would give a general speech.
This was, this was one of the Surna of the Prophet of Allah, he wouldn't target someone specifically with something negative, and it was very, very rare that the Prophet of Allah would do that, unless it was very, very important, or something, you know, like an emergency situation. Otherwise, the Prophet of Allah would say something like, whosoever cheats is not from us, but that's how he would say his statement. So that everyone who's sitting there would have to think, is he talking about me? He wouldn't say, well, you're the cheater, you're the one who's cheated. Now this was a wonderful way of the Prophet of Allah addressing people. So Rasulullah, since we would go to the marketplace, you would see how they are giving people their goods. He had a lot of statements to make sure that the market was fair, that the goods were being given in a fair way. So for example, if you had the fresh dates, which are the softer dates, and they were piled in front of a shopkeeper, and they were dry dates underneath, and don't forget the dry dates are the cheap ones,
and the fresh dates are the more expensive ones. So the person sometimes would advertise the fresh dates and give a scoop of the dry and fresh dates together, and this was cheating, and Rasulullah would address that. So anyway, he spent his time here, don't forget, whenever he's inside the musty in the morning times, or even after the whole sometimes, after some times he would give a speech, whenever he would do that, the Jewish people in Medina, they would be able to come inside the musty, and they would be able to sit and listen just as the Muslims are listening. This is very clear in the Quran that the non-muslims of Medina were invited to come inside the musty, and anytime they wanted to listen to the speech of the Prophet of Allah. So this is when the Prophet of Allah is coming back to his quarters for Maqrib, he would lead the Maqrib prayers, and he would perhaps sometimes in some regions that is there that he would do some extra no-afid prayers after Maqrib prayers,
and some say that that's weak, but nonetheless, the Prophet of Allah would then be again in his private quarters. And whenever he's in his private quarters, he's either remembering Allah as we tell him, he might be reading Quran, he might have been doing something else, something that he needs to do for himself. This was time for himself, Sahab, Sahab, O Allah, honoured, mind, they say that he used to divide his time to three. He divided one third for his Lord, one third for people, and one third for himself, whether it's sleep or eating and so on. Now, just talking about eating the Prophet of Allah, after Maqrib, so he never had three set meals, never. If he ate at one time, he wouldn't eat enough time. They say if he ate at sub-time, he wouldn't eat at lunchtime. He would miss lunch, he would eat lunchtime, he would miss supper. And what was his food? His food was hunger. His food was hunger, except if there's something there, then he ate it. And a lot of people talk about what did he eat? Okay, he ate, sometimes he ate some meat, sometimes he ate some veils. People are going to descriptions of what he ate,
and they want to have loads of it. Well, the best thing to know about the Prophet of Allah is that his food was very simple. And whatever was there, he ate from it. They just put it in front of him, and there are a lot of advocates and adabs of eating. But nonetheless, the biggest thing was the Prophet of Allah would eat whatever was in front of him. If he liked it, then he ate, if he didn't like it, then he would just leave it. That's what his sonna was. So don't go into this heavy thing about how much he ate. Look, he ate just a little, just a little to keep himself going. And sometimes they never had anything to eat. And Rasulullah, Allah has said, had like three months once, when two whole months, but three full moons that had gone by between those two months. So starting from a full moon, to another full moon, to another full moon, you can count two months there, where the stove in the Prophet of Allah's house did not even lit. And what did they live on?
They lit, he lived on water and dates. So anyway, this is a reminder for us, especially when we're doing this fast and so on. What is it that we should be thinking about when it comes to food? He should have, he never filled, he never overfilled this lifestyle of never in his life. They say that he did that. So, anyway, after Makhrib, after between Makhrib and Al-Sha'ah, on a normal day would be his food time. And if it was an afternoon meal, then he would have it before the hot, he would have a nap, a siesta before the hot. So this was going to the Prophet of Allah, before the hot, he used to lie down and get a stretch. Sometimes he was sleeping this, sometimes he wouldn't sleep in this. And this was a way of him refreshing himself, because he used to sleep very little. Now after Makhrib and when Aisha is coming, the Prophet of Allah leads the Al-Sha'ah prayers. Now, if he is going to have any secret meetings with the Sahaba, the Sahaba of Allah,
on a 9th, this was the time when the Prophet of Allah would have secret meetings with, you know, just a few Sahaba. So something that would have been very, very important and he didn't want the general Sahaba to know about this, because many of his plans were those plans where others should not know what he's doing. And that's how the Prophet of Allah is in plan things. Now, when he came to Aisha, the Prophet of Allah immediately went to sleep. He didn't like people, sometimes Aisha had these meetings, otherwise he would go immediately to sleep. And the Prophet of Allah, the Prophet of Allah would also go to sleep. He would put his sleep on his right hand side first, he would read his prayers, he would read his, the number of things that he used to read, I need to mention this, after Makhrib and after Fajr. If you want to find out certain duars, which were very, very important for our protection, then find a book on the internet called Hissanul Muslim, or it's called the fortress of a Muslim. There are many duars that are very authentic in there, which was Allah has used to recite,
after a Fajr and after Makhrib. And these are really important for our general protection. And then the Prophet of Allah, once he sleeps, then he would get up again, you know, in the night, and that would be his 24 hours.
