0:00Good morning, I'm Ed Donahue with an AP News Minute. The AP's Mark Sherman reports the Supreme Court struck down Louisiana's second majority black congressional district. In a decision that could open the door for Republican-led states to eliminate black and Latino electoral districts that tend to favor Democrats, the court's conservative majority found a black majority congressional district in Louisiana rely too heavily on race. The decision was an about face for the court, which less than three years ago reached a different outcome in a similar case from Alabama. Chief Justice John Roberts described the district as a snake stretching over 200 miles. An effort spurred by President Donald Trump to preserve the slim Republican majority in the House of Representatives already has led to a nationwide round of redistricting. Florida is pressing ahead with a redistricting plan of its own. After this Supreme Court decision, I'm Ed Donahue.
