045: Fred, Counting Coup Tactical

Fred, AKA Counting Coup Tactical, Spiritus Systems guy, former Air Force Combat Controller joins Mitch for another solo episode. Fred gets into why he joined up, the training he needed to become a Combat Controller and his military lineage dating back to the American Revolution, Mitch shares some of his own family military history from his family fleeing the Armenian genocide to his grandfather driving tanks in the Second World War and becoming General Patton’s personal driver. Fred also shares how he almost took an artist internship at video game company Blizzard in the late 90’s, Mitch get’s into separating politics and being in uniform and how the military is making that harder by the day, Mitch and Fred discuss the process of leaving the military and the lack of priority for retaining current servicemen and women over recruiting brand new kids, Fred get’s very real about the costs to both his body, mind and home life from his time in and deployments, why you shouldn’t shrug off even minor Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI’s) and much more in this two and a half hour show!
