We're going to reset our question of the day here in just a moment. Cause we're really haven't done a deep dive yet in the some of the responses that we've gotten. Also, just a quick note. This is normally the time each week where we talked Amy Smith from investors business daily. She is out of the box today. In fact, she was out of the box last week because she's getting to be pretty well known for her cooking skills. So she's kind of going across the country, doing a couple of things related to cooking. She'll be back on the show to talk about your individual stocks and directions of the financial markets next week. Hopefully we love having Amy on the show. She's one of our oldest regular contributors in terms of being a part of our program.

2:02And we hope to get her back real soon. A couple of things we need to start though, Coop. We mentioned this in pick one today that the the tech wizards Mark Zuckerberg and well, I don't know if you'd call him a tech wizard, but he was certainly a tech Titan. Yeah, the CEO of Apple Tim Cook. We're involved in potentially being rival suitors for the Seattle Seahawks, the defending Super Bowl champs of the National Football League and the price for Seattle, the franchise in the NFL is supposed to be rumored between nine and 11 billion dollars, which would blow away the old record, which was set by the Washington commanders at six billion dollars. So frontoff of sports was the the outfit that put this story out initially. And it got a lot of buzz as it might. I mean, it involves the America's favorite sport and recognizable tech Titans. But now puck news has posted it within the last couple of hours that both Zuckerberg and Cook

3:07are not involved here. Persources close to both men, period full stop. That's from puck news. So according to puck news, there, there's no legs to this story that those guys are not involved. In the pursuit of the Seattle Seahawks. So there you go. So make you happy or sad. It does a Seattle fan. Frankly, from what I saw, the full summary is that however these things go about, it's probably going to be as part of ownership groups. If it does happen, it's not going to be somebody just coming into by the team, which makes more sense to me. It seemed kind of weird to me that we were attributing buying to one individual winning way, because I kind of thought that those days were behind us, even as much money as some of these guys have. And so we'll see what ownership. My understanding also, and this is, I did this research before today, but I think I know that it still stands as Seattle's considered, if not the one of the best brand professional organizations among all the sports. So it's going to go for a whole lot of money. Yeah. So and you don't know if Zuckerberg or if Cook had purchased the Seattle Seahawks,

4:10how closely they would have been involved in the day-to-day operations of the club. Yeah. Among the Seattle fans, I was just checking the temperature a little bit, and that story's been upgraded, and people were talking about it. And they're feeling on this, and I kind of mimic this as well. We have ownership groups involved. Maybe you don't have like the owner that has their hands out Davis style in the pie everywhere. All they want to do is keep their investment going, which means you want to win ball games. Right. And so you have an organization that already does that, the way that it's established. So they want somebody to come in, and this is the Seattle forums or whatever, that just wants to say, okay, well, we own it now, carry it along in your business. So I think a group is probably more likely to do that than some person coming in and decide, I want to put my brand on this right away. Yeah, Steinbrunner it up. Yeah, exactly. It's funny too, because we've just passed literally within the last few days, the anniversary of the time that Ted Turner managed the Atlanta Braves for one game.

5:13Okay, forgot about that. Yeah, that was actually against pirates. It was against the pirates. He told the manager at the time to take the weekend off. I got this. I got this. And players were talking about suddenly seeing Ted Turner in a Braves uniform, rolling into the clubhouse. Let me counter that just with this. Wouldn't we much rather see our rich Titans doing things like that though? Yeah. Wouldn't that be so much more of a breath of fresh air? Oh, he took over the manager for a weekend. Great. Yeah. Oh, man. So this would maybe go one step farther like which one of these tech Titans would be most likely to grab a clipboard and put on a headset and try to coach an NFL team. Yeah. Bezos or Elon, man, you know, you know, how none of them ever played any sport ever. Well, that's true. That's true. You know, and this is kind of a related story too. And I just basically just briefly touched on this at the top of the hour in the five o'clock

6:15update. Man, what do you think about this story where Amazon has got a deal now to broadcast three prime Duke basketball games. So they are this was announced today that Amazon is going to do and these are big games. They're doing you con November 25th, November 25th. They're doing the MSG game against the reigning champs from Michigan on December 21st and they're going to do a game against Gonzaga on February the 20th in Detroit. So obviously these are not ACC games, right? So these are non-conference games and Amazon is stepping into do these games and the thing that's kind of interesting to according to this story from Pete Thamel at espn.com. This deal is also going to include extensive NIL opportunities for Duke athletes and is part of a broader retail partnership that's going to be announced at a later date

7:17between Duke basketball and Amazon. This is just kind of interesting in light of the fact that after the we left the air last night, there was the announcement about the private equity that's getting involved with the big 12 or West Virginia plays. It's kind of an interesting turn, right? What is private equity ever made better? Well, that's a point. That's a point. But I do think this is a pretty interesting story. Your move Netflix or your move, some other streaming service that wants to, you know, and here's the thing, you don't have to buy the whole ACC. You basically got the best brand and you cherry pick the best games. You could only do this with Duke and North Carolina. There's only a handful of college athletes. That's right. Notre Dame. Yeah. There's only a handful. You could do this with. Yeah. So this is beginning next season. The prime video will have exclusive to exclusive coverage of three neutral site. Oh, that's another point on this neutral site, non-conference games.

8:19So we're keeping our eyes on that. I honestly don't see any, I mean, it's a, it's a different scenario from like the espn's of the world and stuff like that. And frankly, the more that you can try to diversify how we get our sports, the better as far as I'm concerned at this point, instead of putting everything on ESPN, I'm interested. And I think so far of the streamers that have taken on doing pro sports for the first time, Amazon's have been, okay, their football has been good. Yeah. Their football was good. Who was it? Their base? No, that was Netflix's baseball. That was so terrible. And Netflix or Amazon's been pretty tight for the most part. They haven't been bad. The thing that Netflix did for a, for baseball was terrible though. Well, maybe they'll learn from their mistakes because they've got home run Derby. Yeah. Well, I mean, home run Derby, they could do the kind of shenanigans that they did for the, the baseball game, it'll be fine because who cares anyway? As far as like, it's not a, it's not a serious event. They took opening day of baseball and turned it into just, it was pathetic. I think the thing about this Amazon and Duke deal that's really interesting is, you know, when streamers became more prevalent and all of these conferences, especially the ones

9:25the power, the power conferences are looking for additional revenue streams. You're thinking, well, you know, if we can't do a deal with, say, CBS, we're going to maybe do a deal with Apple or whatever. This is a little bit different because here is a major streaming service that's basically diving in and cherry picking the team they want, okay? Their deal is not with the ACC. Their deal is at least at the moment with Amazon. And the NIL portion of this is pretty interesting as well. So that, according to this story, that's going to be released at a later date. What do you think that is? You think it's like, I don't know, I guess we're going to really project that. I wonder, how does Amazon get involved with NIL or is it just opportunity to, they create a gateway for, I don't know how that works? Well, say, for example, I mean, Booser this year is one of the best players in basketball. But is he going to advertise for Jack Reacher? I mean, is that what the type of thing we're thinking about? That's obviously what we're going to do, you know, we could easily do that. Or, you know, well, say, for example, when Duke plays Michigan at MSG, the one thing that

10:30happens in these Thursday night football games that Amazon does, we find out about all kinds of stuff about stuff they're selling, other, other, other things that they have on their streaming service to watch, you know, it's a, it's a, it's almost like a three hour commercial for Amazon. I know they're just bringing this into college sports. I also forget, because this has all become so very spreadsheety, I forget sometimes that the NIL is both, both what you get to come to play for the school and you can also, it doesn't end there. You can also sign other NIL one-offs and different things like that while you're in the school. I sometimes forget that. We really need a spreadsheet to track our college sports these days, the monies, the teams, you know, who has the NILs, those things. Uh, let me get the question of the day out and I want to give some baseball scores to uh, question of the day, you know, this is a lot less serious topic, it's National Bugs Money Day. There are a ton of afternoon games, uh, just the high points here, the, the Cardinals beat the pirates today, 10 to five at PNC, uh, JJ Weatherhold, the former Mountaineer, let off the game with a home run for St. Louis. Man, that's got to be a pretty interesting subset. He might be the only member of it. Players who homered off Paul Skins in their first, a bat against him. Well, the Weatherhold can claim he did that. The Reds kept rolling today, uh, Andrew Abbott got the win and the Reds beat the Rockies in the rubber game of their three game set, 64 of the Reds and the Pirates square off tomorrow night. And the O's and the Astros are playing a double header today. The O's won the first game, 10 to three, uh, how about this? The O's had 10 runs on six hits. Meanwhile, the Astros had 12 hits, but only had three runs. And in the middle of the fifth inning in the, uh, the nightcap game, well, it's in the

13:36afternoon. It's still technically a nightcap game. The Astros are putting it on the O's at this point. It's 11 to three there in the middle of the fifth. Anyway, ice cream cones. Ice cream cones. So we're talking any cones, the old regular cones that are all angular, the sugar cone, any of the cones we want to talk about. I am 100 percent. You know, I miss stuff like the world's fair, the place where the world can come together and celebrate technological achievement, although if we did something like that nowadays, it probably would be like, look at this AI we developed. 19:46You know what? How about this, Coop? We've mentioned the the New York world's fair and the St. Louis world's fair within the same hour. We're a cultured, so I guess we are. I guess we are. Yeah, steeped in history. Ice cream cones. Absolutely. And got reaction. Oh, Coop. This is right up your alley. German YouTuber Tom Coakopky established a new Guinness world record by solving a Rubik's Cube in over 23 seconds. But the real interesting part is he did it while he was skydiving. Did it while he was skydiving? Is that part of the record? It broke the record for a Rubik's group while skydiving? Yes. It broke the record. And he was skydiving in South Africa in February. And he broke the old record by five seconds, five seconds. Rubik's Cube solving while skydiving in a row. The odd thing about this and I'm just I guess I'm just weird. Maybe people understand my perspective. Maybe you do. I don't know. But to me, if you stopped at Rubik's Cube,

20:48makes sense. Like there's a lot of people that would want to compete for who can solve a Rubik's Cube the quickest. You know, my daughter wouldn't love it. She loves Rubik's Cube. Going out of an airplane, that's just taking your thing and adding something to it so you could be recognized for it. That's like saying, oh, who can solve a Rubik's Cube while skiing backwards? If nobody's ever done it before, then you're the record holder. And then suddenly until somebody beats it, you get into the book. This whole ecosystem is dumb. I'm out. By the way, Ryan, he solved it while he was in the free fall before he pulled the rip cord. So he was free falling and he didn't pull the rip cord until after he had solved the Rubik's Cube in 23.3 seconds. Setting the Rubik Cube record while skydiving in or out. I'm in the same position as Koop. It's speed cubing is very impressive. I will admit, some of those guys solve those cubes real fast and it's real cool to see. But you're just adding that other like objective to it that that seems kind of meaningless. Oh,

21:51I'm doing it while free falling. Oh, I'm doing it while I'm getting a colonoscopy or something. Yeah, that's exactly what's happening. Maybe we'll try that the next time. Yeah, so I'll be out. Gonna be up. By the way, he practiced extensively to avoid dropping the cube mid-air. So that probably implies that he did while he was getting ready to break this record. That said, I'm kind of with you guys. I'm going to be slightly out. Slightly out on this. Finally, this one's about a celebrity. They said it wouldn't last. Well, Hollywood Reporter is saying that ABC is renewing shifting gears. Starring Tim Allen for a third season. They're also renewing the scrubs revival on ABC. But we're talking about shifting gears. It was ABC's most watch comedy in the ratings last season. It was averaging five and a half million viewers a week. Tim Allen. Tim Allen in a row. It's really odd that that that contrary to popular opinion, Tim Allen keeps getting shows and keeps getting hits.

22:54I'm not sure what the what the trouble is here because it seems like he's doing fine and he does really well when he gets the opportunity. I like to stand up better than his shows. His shows are all kind of one note as far as I'm concerned. They're kind of the same show over and over again, which is fine. If you like it, I don't have a problem with it. I legitimately like to stand up back in the day though. I'll be in Tim Allen Ryan in a row. He was Buzz Lightyear. He was too. Yeah, that's and he was also on home improvement. Yeah, that's that's an obscure show for you to infinity and your take on Tim Allen. He's okay. He's okay. I don't know. I guess I'll be in. So a mix of sun and clouds in Charleston, one more on AccuWeather after the news. The corporate owner of Omni Hotels and Resorts have responded to recent claims by US Senator Jim Justices family business group of a conspiracy to snatch the Green Briar Hotel. Metro news statewide correspondent Brad McElhanie says Omni's parent company says that justices are trying to get the attention off of the main issue. TRT's new statement contends any claim its subsidiary was not legally allowed to purchase the debt is quote without merit. The two sides are locked in a battle over control of the Green Briar. You can read more from Brad at WVMeternos.com. The 2026 academic showdown finale is tomorrow at the Culture Center. The finale will host 12 teams representing 11 different counties. Locally, Hurricane High School will go up against Princeton Senior High School and Charleston Catholic High School will go against Bridgeport High School. Things will get underway Friday at 8am.

25:11A company that owns eight apartment buildings in Charleston is facing a series of criminal charges over violations of the city fire codes. Patriot Services group out of Jacksonville, Florida is named for eight fire code violations in the criminal complaint filed in municipal court. The charges are all for violations at the Belvedere apartments. And West Virginia has led more than two dozen states in a legal filing this month in support of the continued presence of the National Guard in Washington, DC. There have been about 2,000 members of the National Guard deployed to Washington to patrol with West Virginia sending around 160 to 170 guard members. And Secretary of State Chris Warner is standing against the U.S. Department of Justice and its attempt to get the personal information voters and connection with immigration enforcement. The martial assault ball team is playing for the Sunbelt regular season title this weekend. The herd will host James Madison in a three-game set starting tonight at six.

27:16Marshall and Louisiana Monroe open the weekend tied atop the Sunbelt standings with identical 16-5 league records. The WVU baseball team will welcome Max Yelback to their starting rotation tomorrow night when the Mounts New Year's host Kansas State Yelmas won start with shoulder discomfort. You know, we're talking a little bit about some of the baseball action today, martial softball. Got a game that's going to be firing up here in less than a half an hour. Last homestand of the year for a herd sample. They'll be taking on James Madison. That will start at six o'clock. Also, the dirty birds continue their homestand tonight as they taken on the line box cars of Hagerstown. That'll be first pitch

28:18at the ballpark. Go mark, go go mark ballpark, which is about a half a dozen blocks from here. First pitch now in about an hour. And we told you that the reds one today, they were winners over the Colorado Rockies today. They got to go in on coop six and six to four today. They win the rubber game of that set. Meanwhile, this was this was billed as one of the most important homestands of the year if that can possibly happen for the pirates. In the month of April, they've lost all four games to the St. Louis Cardinals today. The the Cardinals got up early on the books and beat Pittsburgh at PNC 10 to five JJ weather hold had a lead off home run for St. Louis. And as I mentioned, that's pretty small subset of major league players who have homered off the reigning National League Si Young award winner in their first crack at him first at bat. So he had quite the week and the cards won the game 10 to five. Also, the Astros and the Orioles are playing a double header today. First game, the O's won rather easily 10 to three,

29:23not cat game, not going so well for the O's. The in Baltimore, the Astros lead that game 11 to three. I wanted to interject just quickly on that reds game. It was nice to see that after a game, the other night were Ellie scored a but were or Ellie basically dominated the game and was responsible for I think all the runs between run scored and and RBI. Today's game was really kind of the extras finally kicked in. You know, you had other guys producing up and down the lineup. It wasn't Ellie and Sal. I think Ellie had some good defensive plays. He had a hit. But and I think Sal was hitless again. He's on a little bit of a of a funk. But it was the other guys in the lineup. And that's what they need. TJ Friedle hit a home run. They need to have him hitting some of the guys that are low hit a home run low hit another home run. He's been that guy that they needed to come in and provide them a little bit of spark. They've had some guys that's performing pretty well for him. Unlike just three weeks ago when the only guys hitting were Ellie and Sal and they were getting that great pitching. So this is sort of what we were looking for as the reds. If they can get good pitching and the and the offense can come around a little bit, they're kind of a tough

30:23out sometimes. So here we go. Coup. Here we go. Reds and Pirates starting to mind hate it every time. I hate it because it doesn't matter. There it could be the 90 reds against the worst pirates team ever. And it seems like that it's either a split series where they lose the series every time. Hey, I wanted to ask you, what was your first reaction to the to the story yesterday that this private equity deal between the big 12 actually got signed late last week? How's this going to impact the big 12? And how do you think it's going to impact West Virginia? I'm going to be interested to see how or if schools take advantage of the loan because, you know, calling a private equity, you know, it's sorted there, but it's not like just a straight investment. I'm digging around to try to find some more of the details behind it. But, yeah,

31:26obviously, each school has a advantage to take advantage of a line of credit. Now, how the investment firm, how redbird and those make their money back, I think that sort of remains to be seen that the percentage rate seems a little high, but, you know, we're seeing a lot of schools are still investing, you know, West Virginia building its new West tower, basically tearing the football stadium press box down to the nubs and redoing it with more premium seating inside the Coliseum, more premium seating. So, you know, I don't know that they will take advantage of it for, you know, just to make revshare payments. That seems to be a little bit of a short-sighted thing, but I don't know. I think it's going to be interesting. The other thing is the league has money that it can use and they can grab it and do its own investments, which I think is going to be difficult to follow. So, a lot of different paths, but it's good to have it and good to

32:26see that, hey, at least a couple of firms believe in the big 12. Yeah, a couple of things here. So, each school in the big 12 where West Virginia is currently located has a $30 million credit line. If they tap into that, will we know that? Will that be public knowledge? I think it's going to be kind of difficult to find out. As we know, most schools, like West Virginia, are hiding a lot of these things and things that are being, you know, so does not being publicly available for West Virginia. It's Gold Blue Enterprises, bunch of the other schools have their own things too, and they do not respond to any foes. Okay. They say it's not public records. So, it depends. How do you funnel the money? If it's funneled into a public facility or whatever, maybe it is, but I think that's going to be a battle to figure a lot of that out. Also, Koop and I talked about this a little bit at the top of the

33:30hour. I just want to get your take on it. What do you make of this story today that Amazon is basically partnering up with Duke and buying three of their high profile, non-conference games. They're getting Yukon, Michigan and Gonzaga in the upcoming season, played at neutral sites, and there'll be NIL deals between Amazon and Duke involved in this. It really is kind of the Wild West now, right? I mean, wouldn't this open the door if suddenly, like West Virginia had some high profile, non-conference games that they wanted to sell to another entity outside of their normal partners? Sure. We've seen that a little bit, say, when West Virginia played Alabama in football, when the old Mercedes George had done whatever was called at the time. You had a group that was putting that game on that put it together that sold the rights in a lined-up

34:32broadcasting and all that. This is kind of, I think, an extension about things going to be interesting to see. Is it just limited to non-conference games right now? Because the conferences own the TV rights, or are they going to make some noise? And the ACC is going to make any noise that, hey, you have just devalued our package of you because we can't grab that for our broadcast, or maybe their agreement is that each school has more control over their own. Again, a lot of different angles, but yeah, I agree with you. I don't think there's very much that's off-limits at this point. So I wanted to get your take also in the news earlier this week that it looks like the NCAA is going to rubber stamp an expansion of the college basketball tournament for the men and the women going from 68 to 76 teams. And the general reaction to this nationwide has been, why mess with the good thing? Why are we expanding? But I guess if you're a WVU fan,

35:35you're sort of looking like, well, if these new rules had been in place, West Virginia would have been in the NCAA tournament the last two years. And that just, you know, simply is a good thing, right? So what's your take on this? Sure. Sure. I mean, from my West Virginia fans perspective, it's probably a good thing. From a basketball purist perspective, I wish that some of those would go toward mid majors and other schools that had great seasons and get eliminated because of it, you know, in a conference tournament upset or something like that because I feel like they deserve it too. But, you know, in this point, there's not a lot of altruism. It's all about how you, what works best for you and how it benefits you. So yeah, I think most West Virginia fans would have to be largely in favor of it, even though it kind of might mess up that first weekend. Man, that Thursday and Friday with all those games, you know, popping up, that's really good. Does that

36:35get devalued a little bit now that you've got way more games and looks like there's going to be two sides dating and Las Vegas for those first round games? Does that mess with a little bit? I don't know, we'll see. Yeah, one more point about this. I want to ask you about WVU baseball. It's getting with the NCAA tournament, though, expanding out to 76 teams. It's getting to be a little bit more difficult now to try to make any excuse that you actually had a good season when you didn't go to the NCAA tournament. Exactly like bo games. Totally agree with that. And that's where Dave, you and I grand on something. That's right. I mean, but hey, that's what makes it interesting. But yeah, I agree with you. It's like, if you don't make a bo game in football now, there are so many that you didn't have a good season. There's nothing you can do to cover that. And it's kind of getting there, too. Does that put coaches a little bit more on the hot seat? Sure does. You know, if you don't make the baseball tournament in the big 12, if you don't, you know,

37:36you're one of the ones that gets cut off at the end or only plays one game and doesn't go there. Yep, I think it's more pressure on coaches, but, you know, we all know they make a lot of money, but it's definitely going to be a thing where I think that turnover only increases if you don't make it. And also the other thing is if you're completely rebuilding your roster every single year, because of NIL and the transfer poodle and the the tournament has now been expanded out to 76 teams. Fans are going to have even shorter shorter fuses on this kind of stuff. Hey, I wanted to ask you about WV baseball. So the the mountaineers game with Penn State at State College was canceled, not postponed, canceled yesterday because of the weather. West Virginia's continues to be naturally ranked, but they've lost three out of four. How you feeling about Mountaineer baseball going into this series with case state? You know, it's obviously a series West Virginia has to win. It's WV is going to have to go on a major tear if it wants to host a

38:37regional at this point. Kansas State is playing for it in CAA like. It's outside of the range of an RPI that is usually kind of a cutoff point to get you in. So you know, they're going to be obviously focusing hard on their last 10 or 11 games. And West Virginia with only 10 games left and only playing 50 games at the most, everyone is magnified and important now. They cannot have another stumble, you know, like they had against Houston, like they had against Cincinnati, where looked like they had the game under control and gave a big light innings to lose it. So you know, it should be a good one. And hey, welcome to West Virginia temperatures in the 50s at the moment. Now, you know, what I don't have the the standings in front of me right now, but I think West Virginia's like two games back off the lead in the big 12 regular season, correct? That's correct. Okay. And you know, and now, you know, at this point, how much, you know, when in the regular season, I mean, sure, it's important. You want to finish as high as you can.

39:42But with the big 12 tournament, being a single elimination and RPI being such a huge factor in determining, you know, what seed you get. And if you can make a shot at hosting, you know, I guess the standings just kind of come with the territory. You got to win. So you got to move out, but is there a difference between finished second or third? And maybe not, but you got to bump that RPI up. Yeah, I was going to ask you. I mean, if West Virginia would somehow get on a roll here late and then win the regular season, how far would they have to advance in the big 12 tournament to have a good argument that they should host a regional? You got to be in the top 20. And you know, 2019 is, you know, still kind of at the cutoff level. So many times your 16 hosts are in the top 20 of the RPI. So you got to track that, you know, and so, you know, what does, you know, what is that important that you do as games against Kansas left as games against TCU?

40:44If you win, you know, a couple to get to the finals of the big 12 tournament, all those are potential, you know, move up games. You know, if you can take a step or two in each one of those, but right now at 27, nothing to us today going in. Mountain airs have some work to do. Yeah. And now wins against Kansas with the season they're having. Those would be very valuable wins, not only in the conference standings, but in RPI as well. Kevin got to leave it there.
